Ronald Coase (1910 – )

Ronald Coase will turn 100 this year on 29 December. This video clip is a couple of months old. His mind appears to be sharp, it is clear that the infirmity of age has caught up with him.

The Ronald Coase Institute is here.

  1. Interestingly Coase says that his The Nature of the Firm is a poor undergraduate essay!

  2. From time to time he puts on this false modesty – he said something similar in his Nobel acceptance speech.

  3. Thanks for that video Sinclair, what a great man Coase is.

Coase displays a trait that I think is present in all good economists: he loves markets, and recognises what an important creation of man they have proved to be.
