…debate the widest range of credible views, but recognise the cowboys, the misfits and the sons and daughters of Dr Goebbels for what they are.
Maurice Newman March 11, 2010
At the ABC, I believe we must reenergise the spirit of enquiry. Be dynamic and challenging – to look for contrary points of view, to ensure that the maverick voice will not be silenced. There should be no public perception that there is such a thing as an “ABC view” – we must be neither believers nor atheists but agnostics who acknowledge people have a right to make up their own minds.

I don’t know whose ABC Newman is watching, but it’s not the Australian one. No channel gave more coverage & time to Monckton than the ABC and he got 15 times the amount of coverage of climate scientists such as James Hansen on the ABC.
The ABC has been like a beaten child for the last decade. In the name of “balance” it has lost much of its objectivity, but still its critics raise a hand against it. Newman’s just the faithful wife coming out saying the kid walked into a door knob, and ought to pay more attention next time.

Carr:
You’re unusually delusional today.
The ABC “coverage” of Monckton was the equivalent of mentioning Nazism at a Jewish holocaust convention.
They weren’t “covering” him in the sense of letting him expound his views. They were trying to kill him off.
You’re getting to be just a version of Homer with better diction.

.
I’m sure it’s stressful working in a high profile organisation that’s embroiled in political debates. But your beaten child metaphor is, well, not only a bit weird, it doesn’t fit the facts. Look at William’s words quoted by Sinclair above- condemning those he agrees with as Nazis. Literally. And that’s not an isolated example. Bolt reports today that Williams – the same guy – said of a conservative senator:
.
Senator Fielding. Richard Dawkins said his IQ is lower than an earthworm, but I think earthworms are useful.
.
That’s not a beaten child talking.

Fantastic timing as usual by Sinkers. to quote from the summary of the State of Climate written jointly by the SSIRO and BOM.
5. What this means.
Australia will be hotter in coming decades
Australian average temperatures are projected to rise by 0.6 to 1.5 ºC by 2030. If global greenhouse gas emissions
continue at current levels, warming is projected to be in the range of 2.2 to 5.0 ºC by 2070. Warming is
projected to be lower near the coast and in Tasmania and higher in central and north-western Australia. These
changes will be felt through an increase in the number of hot days.
Much of Australia will be drier in coming decades
In Australia compared to the period 1981-2000, decreases in rainfall are likely in the decades to come in southern
areas of Australia during winter, in southern and eastern areas during spring, and in south-west Western
Australia during autumn. An increase in the number of dry days is expected across the country, but it is likely that
there will be an increase in intense rainfall events in many areas.
It is very likely that human activities have caused most of the global warming observed since 1950
There is greater than 90% certainty that increases in greenhouse gas emissions have caused most of the global
warming since the mid-20th century. International research shows that it is extremely unlikely that the observed
warming could be explained by natural causes alone. Evidence of human influence has been detected in ocean
warming, sea-level rise, continental-average temperatures, temperature extremes and wind patterns. CSIRO
research has shown that higher greenhouse gas levels are likely to have caused about half of the winter rainfall
reduction in south-west Western Australia.
Climate change is real
Our observations clearly demonstrate that climate change is real. CSIRO and the Bureau of Meteorology
will continue to provide observations and research so that Australia’s responses are underpinned by science
of the highest quality.
It is bit like like when Sinkers said the cash handouts had no effect on retail Trade and then the December numbers came out.
Daddy Dave Richard Dawkins said that. More accuracy as usual.

Homer:
Is that your stuff or have you copied and pasted it here?
In the interests of full disclosure and to avoid you copping a plagiarism charge from us here, which admittedly would form only a small part of the indictment against you, it would be a good idea to ensure we know exactly who is saying what. Use quotation marks, you idiot.
You may also want to think about presentation.

You really are not merely a fool, but a dishonest one at that. Daddy dave quoted Williams. You stupidly claimed that Daddy dave had mistook Dawkins for Williams wheras it was you in fact that mistook Williams for Dawkins. It was Williams whom Daddy Dave had quoted as I’ve established. The words that appear in the quotation marks above are Williams, not Dawkins. This is one more instance in which you have been shown wrong and lacked the good grace to admit. You are a true hypocrite, Homer.
