I recommend that the stimulus package in its current format be rejected by the Senate. In my opinion, the package does not contain enough stimulus relative to the spending that it contains, and the spending that it does contain is of poor quality.

Certainly the school halls seem to be the most extraordinary waste of money that we have ever seen in our lifetimes.

… if there is $16.2bn to spend we want value for our money. The way it’s being handled at the moment means we end up spending $16.2bn and we get infrastructure worth about $7bn and no one in government seems to know where the other $9-odd billion is going.

But I listened! So you weren’t a true Cassandra!
Spot on of course Sincs

Picture the current government like the third generation inheriting the previous generations wealth.
Hawke/Keating, Howard/Costello Governments do all the heavy lifting to improve Australia and Rudd/Swann blow it all in less than 3 years.
Keynesian policies are debunked over and over and yet because it make politicians seen to be “doing something/anything” governments love it.

Hey but abbott is frightened of gays and Joyce added private and public debt. That’s far more important that spending $16 billion and only receiving $7 billion of value.

Via the Oracle (wikipedia):
On Cassandra: “At the fall of Troy, she sought shelter in the temple of Athena, where she was violently abducted and raped by Ajax the Lesser. Cassandra was then taken as a concubine by King Agamemnon of Mycenae. Unbeknownst to Agamemnon, while he was away at war, his wife, Clytemnestra, had begun an affair with Aegisthus. Clytemnestra and Aegisthus then murdered both Agamemnon and Cassandra. Some sources mention that Cassandra and Agamemnon had twin boys, Teledamus and Pelops, both of whom were killed by Aegisthus.”
I’m a bit worried about your future Sinclair.

Justifiably, Abbott calls for BER responsibilities to be taken away from Gillard.
And a good call from Chris Pyne:
WasteWatch – I know Homer will support such a idea.

“Mr Combet said the government was in negotiations to hire a national organisation with experience in managing large-scale programs to run the minimum 150,000 inspections of houses with non-foil insulation”.
The private sector to the rescue and a Easter weekend dump too. Combet is a serious future leader.

That is a good painting. I saw it, or at least a good copy, in the Ballarat Art Gallery a few weeks ago – eventually Mrs D came up and said, ‘having a perv are we?’.
