Milton von Smith on Gillard

Milton von Smith calls Gillard on the most important issue.

… she is the co-author of every single disastrous policy position taken by her predecessor. But in the same breath she claims that a “good government lost its way”.

She says that policy mistakes were made, but has refused to name them and has not announced any policy changes.

She has the same people implementing the same Rudd government policies yet we’re invited to believe that her government will be different from the Rudd government. I suppose re-introducing the white Australia policy is a big change – you know, the right kind of migrants.

  1. The right kind of migrants are presumably people unlike those “fucking Balts” (to use a Whitlam-esque turn of phrase) who hated communism with a passion and would never vote for the left.

    .
I hope she’s held to account for this by the hard-as-nailsm, take-no-prisoners Canberra press gallery.

  5. Jeez homer, not even a week of mourning for your loved one (Rudd) and you’re out and about defending Gillard.

Remind me to never croak it on your watch.

  6. So when exactly did the 2IC feel her Govt lost their way, on specifically what and why was she out their continually spruiking it if she felt otherwise? Team player? Bullshit.

  7. “are these ‘disastrous’ policy decisions relate to successfully avoiding the GFC”

This is the only thing which the public believes Rudd actually did without bottling it or backflipping.

The Australian economy returned to positive economic growth before the stimulus. The stimulus accelerated capital expenditure slowing down. It created more permament hidden unemployment than it did temporary employment. It was 4% of GDP to “create” 1% of “growth”.

The NBN, filtering, alcopops, RSPT, ETS, BER were bloody disasterous.

  8. It’s easier to say ‘a good government lost its way’ than to say ‘the paranoid man-child control freak that we elected as our leader lost the plot and became less popular than a cowpat’.

  9. Thanks for the correct quote. Yet it is truly illogical for Gillard to state (and claim) that ‘a good government lost its way’. It cannot be both good and lost at the same time.

  10. Statman, I would have thought the two people who look complete morons about the NBN are two people who wrote for Concept about the project.

I have no problem with internet filtering nor does anyone with children.
marky has never been able to count that is why he can lie so well about the Asutralian economy recovering before trhe stimulus.

  11. Bullshit Homer
Even the govt’s consultants couldn’t quite bring themselves to say the benefits of the project exceeded its costs.

And not everyone who has children is a blatant and myopic egotist like you unwilling to see beyond the first round benefits of a policy.

  13. ” have no problem with internet filtering nor does anyone with children.”

And you’ve asked them all have you???
Its kind of inaccurate to extrapolate your own personal view to the entire community. Especially given that its easily demonstrably wrong.

  14. Each family should already have an internet filter. They’re called parents.

Usually it just renders them incomprehensible, but in this case hilariously reverses the meaning.

If only Homer had spent a little less time walking the corridors of power and a little more learning to type.

  17. “Steve,

Anyone with children has internet filtering”

No, they don’t. However even those that do, can see a difference between choosing to filter your own home and having the government chose what is filtered out.
