Next time you are amused or exasperated by the anti-smoking rules and regulations, spare a thought for the original anti-smoking Nazis.
BTW I am in favour of encouraging people to give up smoking.

At the heart of the social vision prevalent among contemporary intellectuals is the belief that there are “problems” created by existing institutions and that “solutions” to these problems can be excogitated by intellectuals. This vision is both a vision of society and a vision of the role of intellectuals within society.

Hitler was also a Greenie and a vegetarian.
He would have been perfectly at home in Bob Brown’s party.

Hitler was also a Greenie and a vegetarian.
Protectionist. Anti-immigration. Practiced population reduction. Yep, founder of the Green movement.

Question:
Which of the three parties would Adolph feel most comfortable if he was just starting out today?

Liking trees and vegetables don’t make you a Nazi, jc. You might as well blame bad moustaches, and accuse porn stars of crypto-fascism. Not to mention the fact that Bob Brown would have been sent to a camp if he’d lived under the Nazi regime.
Anyway, let’s go through the checklist of the Howard-Abbott mentality:
- Like Hitler, they support foreign invasion (twice), plus interventions in neighbouring island states.
- Like Hitler, they promote a form of capitalism with pork and subsidies.
- Like Hitler, they’ve tried to crack down on civil liberties (sedition laws, anti-terror laws) based on an exaggerated threat from internal enemies.
- Like Hitler, both a virulently opposed to any form of leftist solidarity, from socialism to garden-variety unionism.
- Like Hitler, both Howard and Abbott base their ideology on a kind of resentment-based identity politics, in which white males are somehow ‘victims’.
- Like Hitler, Howard/Abbott love to demonise ethnic outsiders, and pretend that a few asylum seekers in leaky boats is ona par with the burning of the Reichstag.
Just to be clear, I don’t think the Coalition are Nazis, but there’s no doubt Hitler would be more at home with the cack-handed masculinism and jingoism of a Howard, Abbott or Tuckey than anybody in the Greens.

that was a meaningless question. He won’t be comfortable in any of these parties, and would have set up his own party.

Boris.
Quite honestly I think he would have been very comfortable with the Greens without any hesitation.

The Libs, NSW Right faction.
I doubt he would have felt at home in a faction known currently for its orthodox religosity.

You get what you deserve.
Look at the stupidity of our coalition in the UK.
Make sure your government doesn’t go its full term, that’s before they get time to set up concentration camps.
