Not taken your anger management pills this morning yet?

You see anger, I see passion.

  2. Gab

Then stop looking in the mirror ha ha

  3. .

Well, thanks for you morning assessment, dot.

Not taken your anger management pills this morning yet?

    I’m sorry.

I just hate fascist c**ts. Such as yourself.

  4. Here’s another one for Les, with the special thrill of it being said by Catallaxy’s favourite economist (the Krug):

First of all, the question is: What does Romney actually believe? I actually say in the book he’s not a stupid man. But given some of the things he’s said lately, I’ve started to reconsider that. Arguably, Romney, in his inner beliefs, if he has any inner beliefs, is actually more of a Keynesian than he would ever let on. In a way, the Romney election slogan should be: Vote for Romney, he doesn’t mean anything he is saying. But I am not sure that he would actually have the ability to do it, even if he believes that this Republican approach to macroeconomics is all wrong. He’s going to have the problem that he has a rabid congressional party. I think that your best bet, if Romney is in fact elected, is that he, either out of personal conviction or out of sheer inability and unwillingness to stand up to the crazies, will send us down the road to a European-type slump.

  5. Adam Kane

    Lazlo;

The Euro is doomed as a project. It is as inherently unsound as Emissions Trading, and derives from the same elites. But Europe is becoming globally irrelevant. It will be like discussing Scottish independence in a couple of decades.

Are you saying that Scottish independence isn’t a vital question of our time? The hide! Haven’t you seen all the catallaxyfiles threads on this very topic?

  6. I think dot is particularly upset with me for not condemning the outrageous breakdown of freedom that will happen in New York when a really fat guy can’t buy the gallon size cup of Dr Pepper to take into the cinema with him.

I only said I doubted it would work and was probably not worth it. But it is also not the end of the universe.

  7. Tom

    I see stoopid.

You are entirely without self-awareness of what a childish idiot you are seen as by the people reading this blog.

  8. .

You think this shit is funny? People can go to gaol if they refuse to comply.

    You sick, evil bastard.

  9. Ho ho ho, Tom.

You think people don’t tip a toe into this blog and think “what a bunch of angry, abusive, unpleasant jerks?”

That’s where the lack of self awareness comes in.

  10. candy

“Then stop looking in the mirror ha ha”

that’s the funniest thing i’ve read for days, gab.

  11. .

You think people don’t tip a toe into this blog and think “what a bunch of angry, abusive, unpleasant jerks?”

You think it is funny sending someone to gaol for trying to buy soft drink.

You’re a sick, evil little bastard, who finds the imposition of ridiculous laws amusing. You would be a good fit for Albrecht Gessler.

  12. candy also still cracks up over Peanuts…

  13. Peter Patton

I don’t know of any men who have taken JUST their wives name, but do some both, where both bloke and missus have added the other’s their own surname. I do know kids who have taken the mother’s surname though. Sometimes, more for aesthetics.

  14. C.L.

Bill Jacobson has some fun with dickhead, Michael Bloomberg:

So buy two smaller sugared drinks.

Or will Bloomberg then ban the sale of multiple small sugared drinks?

So give the guy in line next to you money to buy an extra one for you.

Or will Bloomberg then ban the purchase of a sugered drink for someone else?

So vendors will offer buy one, get one free deals on small sugared drinks.

Or will Bloomberg then ban buy one, get one free promotions.

So vendors will offer free or discounted refills of small sugared drinks.

Or will Bloomber then ban free or discounted refills of small sugared drinks.

So vendors will allow customers to bring their own larger cups to fill themselves with sugared drinks.

Or will Bloomberg then ban the sale of sugared drinks unless accompanied by a vendor-provided cup?

  15. You’re being a drama qu**n, dot. There’s probably pills for that, too.

  16. I see stoopid.

Rub some bacon on it, Steve. The mirror, I mean. That’ll help.

  17. Infidel Tiger

I told you to stop reading Krugman, Steve. He is worse on economics than you are.

  18. Gab

lol Steve thinks Qu**n is a swear word.

  19. C.L.

‘Conservative’ ‘Catholic’ Steve reacts to news that Obama supports killing girl babies by attacking Mitt Romney’s fiscal policy.

  20. Infidel Tiger

You think people don’t tip a toe into this blog and think “what a bunch of angry, abusive, unpleasant jerks?”

Yeah, but then they read your comments and understand.

  21. .

I am not being a drama Queen. You are a dispossessed Ritchie Rich. A poor man’s Cromwell. A low rent Albrecht Gessler. A no good insecure jive talking junkyard rat soup eating fascist motherfucker.

You actually find locking up people for buying “illegal” sugary drinks is amusing.

You think children getting hurt is amusing.

You think people standing up to bullying is wrong.

    You malignant c**t.

  22. Infidel Tiger

Go easy on Steve. The first weeks of my tutoring can be confronting and the child will often lash out.

A smattering of waterboarding usually brings them back on the level.

  23. Jarrah

“At best, they’re the exception that proves the rule.”

Jack White isn’t the only one to do it, so they’re not an exception.

  24. Gab

A no good insecure jive talking junkyard rat soup eating fascist motherfucker.

    Harsh but fair.

  25. Matt

Rudd to take back Prime Minister position by pledging to reduce the carbon tax ..

The pitch was a 20-seat battle plan to save NSW and Queensland MPs, based on clawing back the carbon tax. It was suggested at this meeting that ministers Bill Shorten and Anthony Albanese were on board with the idea of at least reducing the $23 a tonne price

    This should be fun.

  26. C.L.

There are, what, 6 billion people on earth.

Jarrah’s evidence for the growing trend of men taking women’s surnames so far consists of one bloke taking what was, in essence, a stage name.

  27. steve

‘Conservative’ ‘Catholic’ Steve reacts to news that Obama supports killing girl babies by attacking Mitt Romney’s fiscal policy

So C.L. is killing boy babies okay? Only killing girl babies is bad?

here’s what the white house said:

The Administration opposes gender discrimination in all forms, but the end result of this legislation would be to subject doctors to criminal prosecution if they fail to determine the motivations behind a very personal and private decision. The government should not intrude in medical decisions or private family matters in this way.

Surely libertarians would welcome a government “hands-off” policy?

  28. dan

C.L, the soft drink ban is like the ban on Bongs, why bother doing it? Are we then going to ban soft drink bottles, garden hoses, aluminium cans, alfoil, apples, copper pipe, rollie papers

  29. C.L.

LOL. Coast to coast disaster for the Obama campaign.

Romney Holds Campaign Event Outside Solyndra HQ.

David Axelrod tried to hit back with sneak visit to Romney’s hometown…

Scroll down to see the disaster that ensued.

  30. Sinclair Davidson

    . – mate. Angry pills.

  31. JamesK

Surely libertarians would welcome a government “hands-off” policy?

You really are an inane fully-fledged facile leftist tosser steve.

What lebertarian sez the libert is with the mother to abort her own female child in-utero merely cos the child is female?

Go! You disgusting excuse for a human being

  32. Tom

Is “Steve” the same recently banned troll who used the name of the Milton play as his moniker?

  33. C.L.

The government should not intrude in medical decisions or private family matters in this way.

So Obama is saying the killing of girls is a private family matter.

    Honour killings, as it were.

Charles Manson phoned. Said he agrees killing girls is a “private family matter.”

  34. Infidel Tiger

So Obama is saying the killing of girls is a private family matter.

What about the abortion of mongrel kids spawned from the illicit congress of a negro and a white she-devil?

  35. Steve writes,

here’s what the white house said:

“The Administration opposes gender discrimination in all forms, but the end result of this legislation would be to subject doctors to criminal prosecution if they fail to determine the motivations behind a very personal and private decision.”

    Steve:

The bill also specifically states, “Nothing in this Act shall be construed to require that a healthcare provider has an affirmative duty to inquire as to the motivation for the abortion, absent the healthcare provider having knowledge or information that the abortion is being sought based on the sex or gender of the child.”

    So who’s lying?

  36. steve

What I’m saying is you can believe abortion is wrong or not wrong. But to say some abortion is OK, but others (e.g. gender specific) is not OK doesn’t make sense.

  37. Gab

Who was the more valid candidate? Me or Craig Thompson? Who would have served the constituents of Dobell with greater motivation? Me or Craig Thompson? Who would have been more beneficial for the crucial factor of honesty in public life? Me or Craig Thompson? Who would have spent his constituents money more responsibly? Me or Craig Thompson?

You, Graeme. The answer to each question is ‘you’.
It should have been you, no argument.

  38. Infidel Tiger

Steve, you are not smart enough to be commenting here. You’re a few grades below the minimum standard. You’re a thicko. A real dummy. The material is beyond you.

  39. dan

    fail to determine the motivations

do they send the potential offender to a psych, or use their own opinion?

  40. Jarrah

“Jarrah’s evidence for the growing trend of men taking women’s surnames so far consists of one bloke taking what was, in essence, a stage name.”

Have you heard of this thing called Google? All the young’uns are using it nowadays. Try searching for “men taking wives names” (because Google does not care about punctuation).

  41. JamesK

But to say some abortion is OK, but others (e.g. gender specific) is not OK doesn’t make sense.

Only to a vile leftist turd like yourself, steve

  42. jtfsoon

Extraordinary and mostly true report on Western propaganda, coming out of North Korea.

WTF??? Birdy is spruiking North Korean propaganda now?

  43. C.L.

The government should not intrude in medical decisions or private family matters in this way.

So Barack Hussein would also support female genital mutilation.

    If not, why not?

  44. Woolfe

Tell you one profession we are in need of up north: Decent Tattoo scratchers.

Enough of the flying skulls and decks of cards.

  45. JC

What I’m saying is you can believe abortion is wrong or not wrong. But to say some abortion is OK, but others (e.g. gender specific) is not OK doesn’t make sense.

Fine with me. Let The Kenyan run the election with this argument. It will be good for him.

  46. dan

do all those extra Chinese sons without a girl to root translate to more homosexual men?

Old Mao would spin in his grave!

No, not really, but I bet hooker rates are or have shot up.

  49. Token

This dude adds more reasons why June will be an important/pivotal month.

    Thanks for this article JC.

The question is how do we get the pointy headed advisers to Red Ted in Vic to read it. That mob really needs to read this section:

Should Walker win, the ramifications will go far beyond Wisconsin. Walker’s ability to survive a well-funded recall effort in a bluish state that is likely to vote for President Obama would send a message to governors in cash-strapped states throughout the nation. They will be more likely to confront their unions, too.

Beyond that, a Walker win would prove to politicians at the state and federal level that voters will not only tolerate but reward leaders who take a stand on “third rail” issues and remain firm in the face of protests, threats and special-interest scare tactics.

Because Walker followed through in implementing his reforms, Wisconsin parents with school aged children had a full academic year to see that none of the dire warnings the unions had made about his policies ever came true. Instead, local governments saved money with the added flexibility the reforms gave them, and property taxes went down for the first time in many years.

Does that remind anyone of what happened in 2010 when Red Ted said he would not accept the preferences of the Greenslimers?

  50. dan

Thompson could be the new trade minister then JC

  51. JamesK

Colleen Carroll Campbell cited by Steyn in Rabz’s link above:

As investigative journalist Gita Aravamudan argues in her 2007 book, Disappearing Daughters: The Tragedy of Female Feticide, “Female infanticide is akin to serial killing. But female feticide is more like a holocaust. A whole gender is getting exterminated…………

Sadly, most American feminist leaders have remained silent in the face of this modern atrocity. Their refusal to brook any limits on abortion rights has led to one of the bitterest ironies of our post-feminist age: that the abortion license touted as the key to liberating future generations of women would become the preferred means of eradicating them.”

  52. JC

    Lol

Looksee where the Mormon made a speech in front of today. He’s definitely a son of a bitch, but he’s our son of a bitch.

    STOP THE PRESSES!

Chicago Tribune: Obama has big edge in California, poll shows
Women, independents, moderates and Latinos all favor the president by huge margins over Republican Mitt Romney, whose supporters mostly say they want only to unseat the president.

The potent mix of voters that has powered Democratic presidential victories in California for a generation overwhelmingly supports President Obama’s bid for reelection, forming a demographic wall blocking Republican Mitt Romney from the biggest pot of electoral votes available in November.

By huge margins, women, independents, moderates and Latinos are arrayed against the presumptive Republican nominee, according to a USC Dornsife/Los Angeles Times poll of registered voters that found Obama leading overall 56% to 37%.

Although Romney has made up ground nationally since the primary season essentially ended in April, he has not improved his standing in California against Obama.

  54. JC

And they’re not going to sit back either. Offense is better than defense with this White House.

In the course of a couple of hours Thursday, the Romney campaign sent out unmistakable signals that it intends to fight the guerilla warfare of a presidential campaign with a new aggressiveness and combativeness.

The first signal came in Boston, where top Obama adviser David Axelrod organized an anti-Romney event on the steps of the Massachusetts state house. The event, which Team Obama wanted to keep under wraps until shortly before it happened, was to feature remarks from Axelrod and Democratic state officeholders who would attack Romney’s record as governor from 2003 to 2007. But it didn’t work out as planned.

First, word of the event leaked last night, and the Romney campaign quickly scheduled an event of its own at the state house about an hour before Axelrod’s. Then, when Democrats began speaking, a crowd of about 100 Romney workers, supporters, and volunteers showed up to chant, shout, and heckle the speakers every step of the way. The protesters shouted “Solyndra!” and “Where are the jobs?” and “Mitt, Mitt, Mitt!” while Democrats gamely attacked Romney’s tenure as governor.

“I get tweets from some of these folks, so I feel close to them,” Axelrod lamented at one point. At another, he said simply, “Look, this is the great pageant of democracy.” In the end, the Obama event was overshadowed by the loud, aggressive Romney forces.

It was the kind of tactic that is usually repaid in kind on the campaign trail, and it seems likely — certain, actually — that Romney surrogates, and perhaps Mitt Romney himself, will soon face similar actions at their events. But Romney aides aren’t worried, saying what they did was both payback and a message.

“They heckle us at every single event we go to,” says a well-connected Romney aide. “Just last week, Romney did a speech at the bridge to nowhere [in New Hampshire] and alluded to the ‘Greek chorus’ that was off to the side.” Indeed, as Romney talked about government waste, a group of Democrats stood at some distance and shouted “Obama! Obama! Obama!” Romney faced a similar scene at another event in New Hampshire, in a fishing village, when he and Republican Sen. Kelly Ayotte were hounded by pro-Obama protesters. And pro-Obama forces also staged a big protest when Romney gave his speech on the economy in Detroit in February.

So Team Romney views the Boston event as payback. But they also, by striking back bigger and louder, want to send a message to Team Obama that Romney is ready to fight. Romney aides characterize the Axelrod event as a “sneak attack” in Romney’s home territory. “The Obama campaign thought they were going to come into our own turf and launch a dishonest sneak attack on Gov. Romney’s record,” says the Romney aide. “We’re not going to allow that to happen. We are going to hold them accountable every single time.”

Indeed, Mitt Romney himself, a short time later, said, “If they’re going to be heckling us, why, we’re not going to sit back and play by very different rules….We’ll show them that we conservatives have the same kind of capacity he does.”

  55. JC

Indeed, Mitt Romney himself, a short time later, said, “If they’re going to be heckling us, why, we’re not going to sit back and play by very different rules….We’ll show them that we conservatives have the same kind of capacity he does.”

That’s the spirit Mitt. None of that McCain “reaching across the aisle” bullshit. Smash your opponent and take his ears home as trophies.

  57. I am no US constitutional expert, but the PRENDA law has “Supreme court challenge” written all over it, surely?

This does look like a bit of Republican attempt at wedging – the legislation sounds like it over-reaches in such a way that they know Democrats could not support it. (As it apparently includes provisions like doctors having to report mere suspicion that gender selection was the motive, I am not surprised.) Aren’t people at this blog generally wary of “thought crimes”: this law could make analysis of thought the whole basis for criminal investigation.

But maybe such investigations would be rare, as it could also be an easy law to avoid. I assume abortionists would simply have a box ticked on the admission form “I am not having this procedure for gender selection purposes, and am aware that it would illegal under Federal law to do so.”

That said, abortion based on culturally determined gender preference is something that all right minded people should strongly oppose. The trick is finding a more acceptable way to discourage it.

  58. Infidel Tiger

California! I wonder if Hawaii is in play for Obama?

  59. Infidel Tiger

That said, abortion based on culturally determined gender preference is something that all right minded people should strongly oppose.

Except you don’t oppose it. You are pro-abortion.

  60. Token

Are you saying that Scottish independence isn’t a vital question of our time? The hide! Haven’t you seen all the catallaxyfiles threads on this very topic?

I know I’ve tried to set up one up Adam as it sets an important precedence.

I’m a big fan of independence for the Mendacious Republic of Tasmania, the sister state of Scotland.

  61. JamesK

    You are pro-abortion.

Puleease IT…. liar is conservative catholic pro-abortion

  62. JC

    Stepford

The law as it appears is a stupid law as you should not legislate thought crimes…. I mean only the leftwing tries that. However this isn’t why the bill will be effective. What will be is how it will paint the Demolition Party to the electorate and in the battle ground states where it matters most Pennsylvania and Ohio to name two. If the Kenyan is portrayed as someone supporting gender based abortion, it will get even uglier for him in these states.

And yes, people here hate the idea of thought crime laws. But for the past 40 to 50 years the left has been doing exactly that across the western world, so therefore its a big fucking payback time. I have no problem with pay back and teaching lessons to the left any more. There’s no more gloves, it’s basically become bare knuckles and steel pipes…. think of Finkelstien in a quiet moment and this…

  63. Infidel Tiger

Steve of B, so I can work out today’s lesson plan can you help me with some stuff?

As a pro-nanny stater do you find all the government safety/scare campaigns personally helpful or do you think they are only helpful for other people?

  64. steve

“But to say some abortion is OK, but others (e.g. gender specific) is not OK doesn’t make sense.”

Only to a vile leftist turd like yourself, steve

    Brilliantly argued JamesK.
Please elaborate which abortions are OK and which are not.

  65. Infidel Tiger

Why don’t you tell us which abortions your fond of steve?

  66. I am not pro-abortion.

I just think Catholic anti-abortionists who are against the responsible use of contraception are stupid, and that there is more complexity to the moral consideration of the whole issue than you routine Catallaxy anti abortionists will admit.

  67. JamesK

Please elaborate which abortions are OK and which are not.

Tell the truth for once steve.

You really have a low IQ in addition to your moral deficiiencies, yeah?

Tell me, why would I elaborate on an assertion I never made?

  68. C.L.

I am no US constitutional expert…

    An understatement of gargantuan proportions.

Banning the killing of girls: bad.

    Thanks, ‘Catholic’ Steve.

  69. Infidel Tiger

  70. JamesK

I just think Catholic anti-abortionists who are against the responsible use of contraception are stupid

What are your ‘feelings’ about about Catallaxans who are prolife and have no problem with artificial contraception liar?

    JamesK:

“But to say some abortion is OK, but others (e.g. gender specific) is not OK doesn’t make sense.” – Steve,

Based on your brilliant argument you seem to be saying that the idea ” some abortion is OK, but others (e.g. gender specific) is not OK” DOES make sense. (Because only a leftist turd like myself would think it doesn’t make sense.) Assuming you are not a leftist turd like myself, then the idea makes sense to you.

So can you explain why it makes sense to you and which abortions are OK and which are not OK?

  72. SteveC

Good point IT. I’ll post as SteveC

  73. AJ

How is individual parents making choices about their kids’ names social engineering? For most of western history very few people had surnames at all. The introduction of surnames, for the peasants at least, wasn’t about family belonging or any of that fluffy nonsense. It was so the state could more easily keep track of them. I knew a Dutch guy whose surname literally meant ‘little pieces of shit’. Presumably, this was his ancestor’s attempt at a ‘fuck you’ to the Spanish authorities who forced him to adopt a surname.

  74. Token

Having two idiot steves on this thread is annoying. Steve from Brisbane was here first so he gets to keep his name. steve should be forced to change.

To be honest, it just makes things simpler.

Other Steves/Newbies to the blog beware. From this point forward the name Steve is interchangeable with the words moron and liar at the Cat.

  75. Gab

Steve Kates may have an issue with that, Toke.

  76. JC

    Lol

    How about Steves?

I really have no problem as I aptly renamed one version “stepford’.

  77. dan

Abortion for social engineering is Therapeutic Nihilism and therefore against the Hippocratic Oath, and doctors who perform the act should be removed from the profession.

  78. Steve backs female feticide.

CL and the truth being strangers, again.

  79. JamesK

Jeez steve has decided to double down on stupid as a strategy rather than re-read and rephrase.

It’s not nonsensical to say “some abortion is OK, but others (e.g. gender specific) is not OK”

    I wouldn’t say it because I’m pro-life.

The overwhelming majority of pro-choice/pro-abortion would morally differentiate abortion at 12 weeks from an abortion at 36 weeks, for example.

    But not you.

That why I correctly identified you as a vile turd.

    It’s not difficult.

However as I’ve pointed out before steve, in addition to being a morally bankrupt vile turd you are stupid.

    It’s a double whammy.

    Awful for you.

  80. JC

These conservative bloggers in the US are kicking serious leftwing arse these days. They’re really fucking good.

They basically had the Kenyan’s previous employer, ACORN, close up shop, which in the just world should have been indicted under RICO laws. Now they’re potentially destroying destroying Planned non-Parenthood turning it into toxic waste.

You go dudes and don’t take prisoners (not that I need to remind you).

  81. JC

  86. C.L.

    The ‘Catholic’ priorities of Steve:

    Soft drink…

It’s not being banned. Its sale is being regulated in such a way as to attempt to reduce consumption. People will still be free to drink as much as they like, although it sounds like it might be a bit more expensive. And a bit more inconvenient.

Do libertarian types have any ideas at all to suggest for the reduction of the rates of obesity?

    Killing girls:

This does look like a bit of Republican attempt at wedging – the legislation sounds like it over-reaches in such a way that they know Democrats could not support it… Aren’t people at this blog generally wary of “thought crimes”: this law could make analysis of thought the whole basis for criminal investigation. .

Hey, why not? In Obama’s Cook County, Illinois, many fallen heroes from the Spanish-American War still show up in the voting booths come November. It’s not unreasonable for some of them to turn up at an Obama campaign rally, too…

Yep. They have a big, strong conservative blog network in the US and they are shaping the political discourse. Here we have catallaxy (of course), Andrew Bolt, and Tim Blair. Of those, only the cat is independent. There’s Jo Nova but she’s a single-issue climate blog; and Menzies House was an attempt to set up a new major right-wing blog. I see MH is still going although I personally don’t read it.

Looks like there’s plenty of room in Australia for some more serious independent bloggers, US style.

  90. You really are a morally revolting person.

More drama queen-ism on the blog today: this time was the worst advertisement for his religion since that time Mel Gibson walked into a bar mitzvah by mistake.

  91. Adam Kane

of course, I forgot boy-on-a-bike. He does good work. The other well-known independent right-wing bloggers seem to have all retired.

  92. .

    Steve,

You think it would by humorous to put someone in gaol because they bought a 1 ltr bottle of pepsi.

You are a sick, demented person who likes being told what to do.

  93. JamesK

You really are a morally revolting person

Actually CL was understating the case liar.

  94. coz

CL banging on about compulsory organ donation again?

“A NEWMAN Government bid to remove 12% of the state’s Environmental Protection Act will lead to reduced environmental standards, says Queensland Greens Senator Larissa Waters.”
    Go Campbell
    Now for the other 88%.

FORMER premier Anna Bligh’s husband, Greg Withers, has quit the public service.

Mr Withers has tendered his resignation from his $220,000-a-year role as a senior public servant and will serve his last day today.

    What a shame …

  97. Infidel Tiger

Another victory for Newman. He just saved the QLD taxpayers a couple hundred thousand.

  98. JamesK

He just gets more and more impressive by the day.

  99. Elizabeth (Lizzie) B.

will serve his last day today.

Score! We gotcha. Couldn’t bear to undo all of his carefully crafted good climate work. Time for the real wrecking ball there now.

says Queensland Greens Senator Larissa Waters.”

She’s actually a decent looker. A real shame here. What is she doing in the slimers party?

Larissa get out from that party. Do it for yourself if not for me.

  102. Rudiau

You have to feel sorry for Wither’s, must have broken his heart to disassemble that which he had so painstakingly assembled.

  103. JC

Newman handled that absolutely masterfully. Bligh had a poison pill stuck in Mr. bligh’s employment contract in case he was fired. So Newman put him in charge of dismantling the glimate change office.

The dude (Newman) is really top notch.

  104. Rabz

Look at the shit he’s wearing!!!

Hilarious JC – reminds me of when Kramer got busted for pimping in Seinfeld

  105. JC

Oh Yea, Rbaz. That Kramer scene is just a classic of all time.

  106. C.L.

In a nauseating ‘cheer up, Labor – we can win this’ column, former Hawke staffer and ABC ‘journalist’ Barrie Cassidy asks us to imagine what would have happened if it was Julia Gillard caught on tape making a mad dash for safety.

That, for her, would have been the ultimate humiliation and almost certainly the end of a rocky career.

But that’s the difference between government and opposition. Expectations on governments are higher, as they should be. Government is a serious business. Opposition, on the other hand, by definition, is more political. When judgments are flawed or tactics go wrong, nobody gets hurt.

    Yes, imagine that:

  107. Rudiau

She’s actually a decent looker. A real shame here. What is she doing in the slimers party?

Larissa get out from that party. Do it for yourself if not for me.

Ashamed to say but i find SHY also a bit of a looker.

Ashamed to say but i find SHY also a bit of a looker.

Yes you should be. Ashamed, that is.

  109. .

    Steve,

You are the kind of jerk that supports Government thugs tearing down kid’s lemonade stalls and throwing out toffees in school fetes.

Again, you make me want to shout huey.

  110. JC

    Rudiau

What mind altering drugs are you on?

  111. JC

  112. Rudiau

  113. coz

How come Thteve gets all the attention?

  114. Tom

SHY would come into her own with a torch under her chin in the dark. Friggin vampire. Erkkk!

  115. Gab

    Squeaky wheel, coz, squeaky wheel.

  116. H B Bear

Mr and Mrs Leatherface are certainly doing their bit to help the ALP at the ALPBC.

Mitt really is a ruthless prick. I’m liking this Nixonian streak:

There is a reason I said 1978 as anyone who understands labour statistics would understand.

Oh dear our forgetful person doesn’t remember his reasons why retail trade turnover rose substantially in December 2008 and a little later.

Certainly Central Banks around the world, economics lecturers and writers of monetary textbooks were astonished at how quickly Fyodor thought monetary policy could affect an economy.

Why for only two months wee affected he never explained.

The Journal of economic literature is awaiting your script in breathless anticipation.

  119. Infidel Tiger

    Nice work Steve.

Good to see you no longer consider “Queen” to be a curse word.

Are you still frightened of carbonated beverages?

  120. Infidel Tiger

It must have been hysterically good Rabz, for it absolutely killed my browser. Had to reboot.

    Will try again later.

Coz – are you saying you are a drag Queen? Well I never.

trying to fill an empty space in the heart with food (or drugs or whatever)….

Candy, I eat too much because I like food. I’ve put weight on because my metabolism’s changed but I’m not exercising enough.

I suffer from sloth, not a hole in the heart.

I was in a hurry, Lizzie.

That’s what all the inept ones say, Stevie. ):

  132. Elizabeth (Lizzie) B.

    … oops. Here’s your smiley, Steve. 🙂

  133. Gab

    Hey SFB
    can you answer IT’s question?

I’ll post it here so you won’t have to go looking for it:

As a pro-nanny stater do you find all the government safety/scare campaigns personally helpful or do you think they are only helpful for other people?

I’m interested in your view on this.

  134. coz

No I’m a woman, Liz, therefore I could only be a drag king.

  135. Rudiau

“Shuv it up your camels hump … with .. all .. due .. respect.”

Good speech on Saudi Arabia by Pat Condell.

  136. Elizabeth (Lizzie) B.

Nilk, I woke up alone today (restless night, crept off to a different room, HIA has a snorey cold) and thought: gym? nah. But got up and did usual things – I am ironing his shirt every morning now ffs (greater love hath no woman) – and forced myself to go to a class and step up and down and lift some weights. Now feel 150% better and could not avoid flirting with the repairman at 11.00 when I returned. So get up now and go for a walk, taking in some stairs. The start of a new you.

Jaesus, you never miss an opportunity to have a go, do you, says Da Hairy One, quite frequently. Perhaps he is right and I just can’t help myself when it comes to good advice. I would have been put into self-criticism classes pronto in the old Commie China.

  139. Elizabeth (Lizzie) B.

‘Lizzie’, please darling, or I’ll have to call you ‘Cozzie’. That’s charmingly Strine, actually, isn’t it? Let us allow ‘Liz’ to be reserved for Her Jubilant Majesty.

And as we are on royalty: a Drag King? How does that work? We’ll have to ask PP for his opinion.

Actually, when I was in New Orleans I was told about a relative of mine there who became King of the Mardi Gras (Fat Tuesday), an honour for which he paid a mighty contribution to charity. This is not a homosexual parade, but an historic communal tradition with Cajan origins perhaps, where they throw strings of beads around at the crowds. (these rellies were staunch Cajan RC’s; in fact, I was taken through the haunts of Bourbon Street by one of them, a nun).

  140. coz

    Nice quote unearthed by Bolta

    http://blogs.news.com.au/heraldsun/andrewbolt/index.php/heraldsun/comments/one_cameron_is_right/

Donald Cameron, member for the Free Trade Party, March 22, 1904:

IF a man is called a Chinaman, a member of the Labour Party will always be found ready to rise and protest against his employment. I have no sympathy with any such narrow-minded pettifogging views.

  142. Elizabeth (Lizzie) B.

Cozza, that sounds nice. coz for short is OK for that.

And while we are on words and sounds: isn’t the general loss of ‘pettifogging’ a sad thing for the English language? It so admirably expresses an admirable sentiment:

I have no sympathy with any such narrow-minded pettifogging views.

    Right on, brother.

  143. Sinclair Davidson

Given the length of this thread I’m opening the weekend forum early.

I have tried to keep alive the use of the words ‘mountebank’ and ‘bamboozle’

  145. In a NYT article about the Great Soda Crisis of 2012:

The mayor’s staff said he had considered studies like one by a Cornell University researcher, Brian Wansink, and colleagues, which found that when people ate soup from a bowl that secretly refilled itself through a mechanism hidden under the table, they ate 73 percent more soup than they would from a regular bowl, without realizing it.

Research involving tricking people sounds kinda fun.

  146. .

You fucking idiot Steve when I BUY A LITRE OF COLA, I KNOW I HAVE BOUGHT A LITRE OF COLA. THERE IS NO SECRET REFILLING DEVICE YOU NUTTY WHACKER.

  147. This followed blogger journalists with a secret camera filming Planned Parenthood personnel offering a gender-based abortion to the ‘client’

Oh really? Is that what happened? Fme. Wow. I didn’t know.

JC Live Action is the activist group in question. It was founded by the lass Lila Rose a few years back. She’s a major thorn in the side of Planned Parenthood.
