The present-day environmentalist overlooks the power of probable but unexpected scientific advance to discover new preventives or treatments for their worst fears without equipping government with more powers that it will not relax when they are found superfluous.

If the best you can do is 4 years old , that’s pretty lame.

Well Steve the twitter quote is precisely 2 hours old. Switzerland is offering negative interest rates, the US has been at zero for what – 4 years?? – and Wayne is going on about the great news that interest rates are low, and presumably is delighted they are about to get lower still.
Have you seen him say anything intelligent whatsoever about the current and impending European crisis?

A head for figures?
‘Half a kilo of carrots, that’ll be $2 please’.
‘One kilo of apples, that’ll be $7-50 please.’
‘I can give you four mangoes for $3.’
As Treasurer, Swan would make a great greengrocer.
I would probably like the bloke as my local grocer He’d do a reasonable job and would smile as he gave you the change.
But that’s it. I wouldn’t let him run the chocolate wheel at the local fete As for being Treasurer …

This bumbling doesn’t bother me so much.
In fact I’m happy if he stumbles along shuffling papers all day every day like a mad professor. It’s when he actually DOES something that real problems start, every time.

So you agree he didn’t have a head for figure back then, now show us where he has improved since.

Swan has a good handle on the price of bananas at any point in time. Just ask him.

World’s Greatest Treasurer!

IMO an incompetent cipher, deliberately put there to ensure that unlike the elected PM before him, Rudd would not have a strong, competent Treasurer who might be a potential replacement. And possibly so that the PM could go on his orgasmic spending sprees without having a strong, principled Treasurer to tell him no.
And then he got blindsided by Julia.

It’s amazing how far you can get with a participation certificate in Public Administration.

SteveC: a handful of far less cringeworthy moments collected over an 8 year period gave the left all the justification they needed to portray GWB – if not the most widely-read President in recent history, then one of the most – as the world’s stupidest man.
What’s sauce for the goose…
Oh come on

I can’t watch this clip. I saw it once when it came out it was so embarrassing. But why am I embarrassed to watch someone I knew would not have the goods to pull off the Treasurer’s job?
Because, like it or not, he is my Treasurer, even though I would never vote for him. Treasurer until the next election, that is.
Please, bring on the next election.
