Last night I could access the site in the usual manner but not the dashboard to put up new posts.
I have an email from a commenter who is still struggling although he has taken advice about clearing the cache etc.

I have never trusted sociologists to be consistently pro-freedom. It started out as a collectivist commie discipline and always will be.

It’s not the cache that’s the problem here — it’s DNS propagation delay. It’s affecting me too.
The advice is to restart your browser and your modem and to try again.
If that doesn’t work, then the problem is with your ISP having a too-aggressive DNS caching policy.

It took a number of goes before I could access the Cat’s front page. I tried deleting browsing history and as well CTRL F5. After closing down IE, restarting and deleting browsing history and cookies again, it still didnt work. Then I tried CTRL F5 again, and it worked. Wind must have been blowing the right way.

The mobile template is playing up; the comments button doesn’t work and I can’t switch off mobile mode, the slider switch at the bottom is inoperative.
The mobile template crashes Safari on my iPod touch if there are lots of comments.

The mobile template sux. If you’re on a i- device, just view the site normally – ie, switch out of mobile view. A bit of zooming and scrolling and it’s munch better.

I am having problems with getting on even though I have deleted the bookmarks etc. I got into this by typing the pointer to todays date.

Any word on the Parliamentary Committee who are looking at expanding ASIO’s “capacity” looking into seditious blogs such as these?

I was going to suggest trying “www.” at the front to force new DNS lookup, but it seems www page is broken (showing scheduled maintenance page)

Hey Jacques
It’s still not working. I can’t get into the opening page.

I still have to fill in the Name & email boxes each time before commenting; apart from that all else is AOK.

Jacques, based on this, would you recommend against going to wordpress pro? Or is the jury still out?

Another trick that seems to work for me was googling the word ‘Catallaxy’ then clicking the Google link.
name & email boxes blank though

Please do not ever re-establish the mobile theme, as Brc said, it’s vile.

The mobile theme is very useful – you just need to click a little more. As noted above, you can turn it off for you if you do not like it. Personally, I think it is much better when working on a small screen.

As noted above, the mobile theme is no good when trying to view a thread with more than about 30 comments. Safari crashes without fail, and as most posts on the Cat that I am interested in have more than 30 comments, it renders it useless.

The last open forum loads fine on my old ipad, and it has half the ram of the current model. Bit slow compared with desktop safari though.

Had a couple of hours where I kept getting “bad gateway” but seems fine now. Happy to see that the buttons are normal sized again.

Jesus. I thought it was Firefox/Chrome just loading up the cache like a fat cop on donuts.
Um, why does this kind of thing happen, anyway?

Yeah, DNS is propagating very unevenly.
The subbies also switched over the domains but not http://www.domain for each domain. So anyone who comes in over those was being sent to the maintenance page.

Don’t thank me yet, there’s still a lot of glitches and busted bits to sort out with the hosts.

Jacques,
I’m migrating a Joomla V1.5.26 site to V2.5.6 at the moment so I like to think I’m feeling your pain
