The Clinton Magic?

It seems that the Democrats must be worried about the prospect of Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan and plan to dump Joe Biden and bring in Hillary Clinton. Perhaps this is a condition for Bill Clinton’s support of the Obama campaign? I think that Obama is blinking – although he is still likely to win the 6 November election.

  1. “It seems that the Democrats must be worried about the prospect of Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan and plan to dump Joe Biden and bring in Hillary Clinton.”

    Nope. A bit late.

The time to do that would have been before they officially nominated him and before he officially accepted the nomination.

“Joe Biden accepts the vice presidential nomination at the Democratic National Convention with an inspiring and personal speech.”

  2. Don’t know if you are kidding s-dog, but that Biden speech is from 2008.

Even so, dumping Biden would be quite a backflip. There has a been an official logo for Obama-Biden 2012 for months and it is plastered on the venue of the current Convention proceedings. So yes it may be a bit late.

Re the likely result, surely the Yanks realise that they have to have Romney for competence, and for getting even a handle on the deficit. We’ll soon see.

Apologies – I knew that today (it’s currently 3:15pm Sept 6 in Charlotte) he will be nominated and he will accept, and I saw that on the official 2012 DNC site, so I thought that it had already happened. If it hasn’t yet, it will shortly.

At most, the Dems have but a few hours left to change their mind. This is most unlikely. The time for speculation such as Samuel is engaging in is really, for all intents and purposes, over.

  4. Also, I’m not as confident as Samuel is that Obama will win come November either.

I admit that I was originally afraid that Romney was going to turn out to be Bob Dole Mk. 2 or John McCain Mk. 2, but he has really impressed the hell out of me lately.

His performance, in combination with Obama’s non-performance and the effects of some of his policies starting to bite (i.e. health insurance policies have already started to skyrocket in price as insurance companies take all of the new “mandates” into account, with mandatory student health coverage at some Unis doubling in cost this term) make me believe that there’s a good chance Romney will indeed prevail in November.

  5. HAHAHAHAHA!

This is what I love about Romney’s social media team.

Riding last night’s DNC-produced wave of Clinton-mania, they already have an ad out featuring Clinton: “Give me a break. This whole thing is the biggest fairy tale I’ve ever seen.”

Also at link, Romney campaign’s resident ‘honey badger’ John Sununu with his thoughts on Clinton’s convention role.

    Sic’ em, Rex!

  6. Honestly, this has got to be the biggest example rightwing nuttery I’ve ever seen on this site. They’re not going to dump Biden, if there were to do it, and it could have been a good idea, it should have been done at the start of the year, not now.

    Thank the Lord.

  10. What a pathetic lot you all are. SamuelJ is right – Obama will win. He’s not only “likely to win” – he’s favourite to win extremely well. On November 7 people will be asking “Mitt who?”

  11. Hey Hammy, how did that latest opinion poll go for Julia? What was your latest tip? Was it 51.5 to 48.5 ALP’s way?

    Ooooh, so close!

  12. Bolt speculates that Clinton was doing a (not so well concealed) hatchet job fon Obama.

    Could be. Clinton despises him.

    From Ed Klein’s ‘The Amateur’:

“I have no relationship with the president – none whatsoever. Obama doesn’t know how to be president. He doesn’t know how the world works. He’s incompetent. He’s….he’s….[...]

“Barack Obama”, said Bill Clinton, “is an amateur!”

No amount of Trolling by Hammy could undermine the warm confident feeling I got from this happy news.

  14. VEEP dumping has a long and honourable tradition. I think Obama was foolish to not dump Biden. FDR dumped two VEEPs. Hardly a right wing conspiracy.

  15. FDR dumped a VP for Truman (a man he rarely talked to) when he knew he was dying.

  18. Sounds great!

Which ballot paper does Clinton have his name on again?

    Wait, what, none?

    Oh.

At weddings, it’s considered rude for the maid of honour to upstage the bride. And so it goes with election campaigns. Former leaders outperforming current leaders just makes people critically examine the current leader.

  19. I thought that if Obama won in 2008 it would be a disaster. If he wins again it’s Goodnight Nurse.
