A report on the ten ought-to-be news items that never made it to the media. The most interesting to me, although only listed ninth, was this:
9. While the Middle East erupted, President Obama watched a whole lot of football this weekend: According to White House press reporter Amy Gardner, the President watched ‘a [whole] lot of football‘.
Nero fiddled while Rome burned has nothing on Obama watched football while the Middle East exploded.

I don’t know why, when Ms Dullard visited Obama, the only story that featured from the entire visit was them throwing a footy around the Oval Office? If you recall – that was THE ONLY story to come out from that visit.
Surely they had some other things to discuss?

Holy cow! “the Middle East exploded” this weekend??
and I thought it was just the neighbours having a wild party?
FYI, the Middle East did not explode this weekend, no matter how hard the Aussie media try to play it up.

You’re sitting in Abu Dhabi or some similar sand dune where there’s no strife. You know as much as we do, or possibly even less because the media over there is censored while ours isn’t just yet, as the Alliance hasn’t yet enacted Finkelstein. So shut up.

Fantastic
Now various Afghan jihadi groups are going to be competing with each other to dominate the post-ISAF political landscape by trying to out-Shaheed each other !
What a s**thole.

It’s a crying shame, MS. Lots of young people wasted and billions of dollars sunk into that rat infested hole and all for nothing.
It’s really sad because it could have been handled better as there are good decent people there and now they’re heading back to the stone age.
What a fucking crack house that place has been turned into.

Goodness knows what happens to the decent folk who want to make something of their lives there JC.
The eastern provinces and Kabul will probably fall as the last US transport flies out.
Karzai is probably trying to cut a deal to stay on as the ‘acceptable’ face to the donor nations, but will have a chopper ready to go too if the jihadis won’t deal.
You could try a canton policy of beefing up the non-Pashtun provinces as an effective opposition – but with Iran and the former-Soviet Kaka-stans at their back – I don’t know how long Fortress Mazari Sharif or Fortress Herat could hang on ?
It is starting to look like a busted flush all over.

Oh well, the locals can all bitch – if they dare – when we leave, but franly all I can say is “That’s what happens, guys, when you don’t back the 21st Century against the 14th.”
Life is all about choices.

franly = frankly. The spell checker didn’t pick it up and nor did I. Wonder what a franly is?

Token, the response was “The President watched a lot of football over the weekend.”

Wonder what a franly is? It’s the above sentence in quotes being spoken by Fran “The Nanny” Drescher, playing in-character.
