Let’s face it though. Most people, and major parties, believe in redistribution. Any country that has progressive income taxes is redistributing wealth. How many countries have flat rate income tax rates for everyone?

Redistribution is inevitable where you have any society at all. The only real question is what the mix should be between having the force of law (government redistribution) and not having the force of law (charity).
