We will bury you

There is an argument I have heard that I do not fully discount which is that Joe Biden understands very closely what Obama is on about and is attempting to undermine his presidency and lose him re-election. Biden is not the fool he has apparently been made to appear. This kind of statement is not an asset to the Obama campaign, that’s for sure, but there may be more calculation than one might first have thought.

Here is how the story starts:

Joe Biden on Tuesday said the middle class ‘has been buried the last four years,’ words Republicans trumpeted as evidence that even President Obama’s veep doesn’t believe the incumbent administration has been good for the country.

There was plenty of advice to Obama to replace Biden with Hillary which he did not do, possibly because of the fear he had of what Biden might say if actually free to do so.

  1. Biden is not the fool he has apparently become

You are sounding silly now Steve.

Biden is, always was and shall for the rest of his life remain, a fool

  2. Biden always had a history of dropping clangers in speeches, in 1988 he plagarised Niel Kinnock (UK Labor) and had to withdraw from the race.

Thats said, he must be a good inside player of Washington as in Bob Woodward’s book the head of the Tea Party in Congress, Eric Cantor, is said to be able to work with him.

Intriguingly, Cantor and Biden frequently had “private asides” after larger meetings, according to Woodward. After one of them, Woodward writes that Biden told Cantor: “You know, if I were doing this, I’d do it totally different.”

“Well, if I were running the Republican conference, I’d do it totally different,” Cantor replied, according to Woodward.

Woodward writes: “They agreed that if they were in charge, they could come to a deal.”

Undoubtably he has regular brain fades on the stump.

  3. Biden has well documented cerebral issues and should never have been chosen as second-in-line to the presidency. The press ignored this, of course, being busy rifling through Sarah Palin’s wheelie bins at the time.

  4. I can’t believe that Biden is anything other than he appears to be- a buffoon selected so that he won’t outshine the Chosen One. There’s no percentage in Biden undermining Obama- Biden’s not a plausible nominee for 2016- unless of course you are insinuating that Hilary will reward him for spiking Obambi’s chances.

  5. I believe Biden, like ‘potatoe-hedd’ Quayle, was chosen to help the incumbent look smart by comparison. And it works!

  7. In the olden days a loose cannon on deck was extremely dangerous, rolling this way and that, causing damage and injury. There were instances where the loose cannon rolled into an open hatch and then falling through to the bilges where it had built up sufficient momentum to punch a hole in the bottom of the ship. Biden is no more than this. Glad he’s on the good ship dummocrat. The VP debate will be a laugh riot.

If Plugs doesn’t have a bowel movement during the debate, it’ll be counted as a win.

  10. You are drawing a bit of a long bow here, I think, Steve. He’s always been hopeless. Conspiracy theory not needed. However, maybe because he has a cerebral deficit, they could be keeping him on a close chain.

  13. Stand by – something tells me Biden is right. You can listen to me or not.
You know, unless conservatives moderate all this free market low tax for all private sector rules bullshit – they are just setting themselves up for a 30 year long backlash that has built up and I suspect its going to be big.

One upon a time conservatives were well…conservative and didnt believe the government should be smashed to bits and didnt mind getting on with the jopb of using the government to build infrastructure and werent only just looking after mainly the very wealthy..

Have those days gone? Who are you now? The Alan Jones ranters or someone sensible? Then so will the conservative vote go. Tbhere are so many people out here under water or struggling (and even if they are not struggling have seen their lifestyles go slightly less comfortable than ten or twenty years sgo) or are paying more of their kids education debts, housing them longer, and and higher tolls and higher utilities bills and getting less and less services for the honest hardworking taxes they do pay to government. A government hobbled by a lack of expertise (because its been acked or privatised out) and not taking a cent in welfare who are starting to say “WTF is this user pays philosophy doing for us??” (in the US, in Australia)

I dont blame government. I blame people in political power with a fucked up attitude and a fucked up philosophy to running the country for the good of all, not just some.

Conservatives need to go back to being conservative fiscal managers of a decent government that provides decent services instead of this view that we “need to smash the government down to nothing”.

You, who belong to the the conservative party, will get bitten going that way and ultimately be seen as the party of no credibility, or perhaps as traitors to your own cause.

  15. I so agree with ‘cold hands’ ‘a buffoon chosen so he wont outshine the chosen one’. Sort of like Dame Edna and her bridesmaid Madge, the plain one.
I still remember with a laugh, think I saw it on Tim Blair’s blog – a segment called ‘And the band played on’, with Obama and wife, official guests of the Queen, and there they were all standing for the Anthem, and Obama talking on, in his usual pose, nose in the air. Never forget the look on Camilla’s face. Would love that to be played again. He had no idea. ignorance is bliss.

why no – Kwiggers threw me out. He is way too polite for me and he doesnt have a lively debate going, because he is too censorious..

But I dont expect much more here. Most blogs are the same although I will give it to Sinclair – whilst he meddles less – the rapid pace of his postings could indicate a less than sincere desire to spread the word

    – it could be mistaken for propaganda you know.

You are infringing on the value of my Australian secondary and tertiary education. You are also diminishing the public good aspect of these institutions for everyone. Your presence is also like a demerit good to our gentle readers. Just please stop communicating with society before you make us all look like unemployable oafs.
