  1. Interesting the count of the debate (1:16 min mark) highlights the fact Romney got 38.5 min to speak where as the Sunk King got 43 min.

Those pesky facts are going to destroy the lefty meme that Lehrer let Romney control the debate.

  3. Tonight, when I get home, I’m going to dig up my birth cert and enrol to vote in the US election.

I’ve been threatening to do so for years, and it’s only one vote, but as I found out in Victoriastan in 1999, even one vote can count.

Any Cats who are eligible to vote should enrol.

  5. Context on the threat to cut the PBS budget:

Now comes the real numbers — the numbers the media will never reveal because they’re absolutely infuriating.

    According to Senator Jim DeMint:

Shows like Sesame Street are multi-million dollar enterprises capable of thriving in the private market. According to the 990 tax form all nonprofits are required to file, Sesame Workshop President and CEO Gary Knell received $956,513 — nearly a million dollars — in compensation in 2008. And, from 2003 to 2006, “Sesame Street” made more than $211 million from toy and consumer product sales.

If you break that down, it works out to over $50 million a year “Sesame Street” is taking in from all that merchandising.

Yep, that one-percenter Big Bird makes about four times what Mitt Romney does annually and yet Barack Obama still wants you and I to still carry his freight

  6. 67.2 million people watched Romney spank Obama like a hooker at an HSU party.

58 million watched the debate in 2008.

Awesome news… was worried the performace might not matter if not enough people watched it. Obama really can’t cope without his teleprompter.

  9. Yes, The thought that the polls are being manipulated is just crap spouted by fools. Truly.

For twenty years, all 50 states have been reported, but somehow this year the networks and AP are ignoring 19 of them. Now just how and why were those 19 states selected?

The ostensible reason given is the rising cost of the surveys. Dan Merkle, director of elections for ABC News, and a member of the consortium that runs the polls, said the goal “is to still deliver a quality product in the most important states.”

So just which states are being ignored? Alaska, Arkansas, Delaware, District of Columbia, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Kentucky, Louisiana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, West Virginia and Wyoming.

The Washington Post tried to gloss over the scheme, noting “how carefully the exit poll planners allocated resources. All 19 of the states with no exit polls are classified as either “solid Obama” or “solid Romney.”

Really? Of the nineteen states (including Washington, D.C.) exactly 4 are for Obama, with a total of 14 electoral votes. The fifteen Romney states add up to 135.

It is utter hogwash that the exit polls were cut from these states because they were in the bag for one of the candidates. If Texas is cut, how about New York and California?

Keep in mind the polls we’ve been seeing are weighted based upon the exit polls from the 2008 election.

  10. I’ve heard numerous mentions that Obama’s debating coach was John Kerry, but thought it was a joke. Apparently, Kerry did indeed stand in as fake-Romney during Obama’s debate preparation. LOL.

  15. IT, I’m still seeing $3.75 Romney/$1.25 Obama at Ladbrokes – slightly narrowed since $4.33/$1.20 yesterday, but still way out of whack in my book. Correct odds $$3.00/$1.60 for me, so Mittens big overs. Suggests bookies are framing their market on loaded polls. Money to be made. What think you?

  18. $3.75 is still waaaaay over. Remember, this is payout (ie, inc. your initial $1 bet), not odds.

Odds are actually: 2.75:1 vs 0.25:1. Better written as 11:4 vs 1:4. They’re offering 11 times the odds for Romney!

I refuse to believe in conspiracy theories when the stupidity and clownship is avialable.

I read through these detailed polling # last night from Politico. I can see there is a lot of good data which can be skewed based upon the way you present it.

If you look at p69-74 you get a great demographic breakup and see why Romney & Obama are talking to the Middle Class (it is the biggest section and the lower & upper class are locked in for Obama) based upon voting preferences.

Change the focus to a question as plain as will you re-elect Obama (p62-68) and the # for the democrats get worse.

It doesn’t take much to change a definition and put in a convenient exclusion to change the #.

  22. Dick Morris: 1. Reckons Romney’s debate victory Wednesday was worth 4-5 points to Romney. 2. Reckons Romney is already leading because polling contains +8% D bias in the swing states. 3. Predicts a comfortable Romney victory by about the same as Obama’s over McCain. Good enough for me. Time to load up on the $3.75.

  24. 2. Reckons Romney is already leading because polling contains +8% D bias in the swing states.

If you have time read the poll # I linked to. It is clear when you look at the question whether the person will vote to re-elect Obama p62-68 the # reflect what Morris has been saying.

    In Battleground states:

    Will vote to reelect 45%
    Will vote to replace 44%
    Will consider someone else 8%
    Unsure/refused 4%

That is 52% who will consider voting for someone else (they choose not to say unsure).

That is what the toe-sucker has been saying for weeks.

According to knowledgeable sources, a national magazine and a national web site are preparing a blockbuster donor scandal story.

Sources told Secrets that the Obama campaign has been trying to block the story. But a key source said it plans to publish the story Friday or, more likely, Monday.

  28. Vox Popoli frames it well:

“While Republicans are quite reasonably celebrating the fact that Romney demolished a hapless Obama sans teleprompter in the debate – disproving once again the notion that Obama is a supergenius master of rhetoric – they don’t seem to be thinking through the obvious implications of what they are witnessing.

Obama has never been more than a tool of those who have financially raped the nation. Romney is one of the financial rapists.”
