Good on her for getting up his nose.

And the preshizzle (Paco™) in Berlin:

…crowd of 4,500 showed up to hear Barack Obama speak at the same location in Berlin. As The National Journal noted, “he didn’t come away with much, winning just a smattering of applause from a crowd that was one-hundredth the size of JFK’s,” and far smaller than the 200,000 boisterous Germans who had listened to his 2008 address as a presidential candidate.

The EUroweenies have suffered that most terrible of fates.

They got exactly what they wished for in a US President.

And he has triggered what looks increasingly like a disaster of historical proportions from ancient Dilmun to the Pillars of Hercules. It is just starting to dawn on the EUroweenies that those who will pay the price of a Sunni-Shia religious war (aside from the barbarians themselves) reside in…. Europe.

Not only will a Sunni-Shia religious war spill over into their own ungovernable Sunni-Shia populations inside their own cities, just what will happen to the north-bound flood of warring barbarians when, for example, Egypt starts to starve? Might this not increase somewhat?

If this terrible scenario pans out, the EUroweenies are in serious trouble, as it will be occurring just at the time whan their socialist welfare-state lunacies are causing their own internal economic collapse, when they have wrecked the internal structures that cohere their societies, and at a time when their ability to maintain enough military power to protect themselves is at an historic low.

If this looks eerily familiar to you, then you are a student of the way the Ming society collapsed, and the actions of the Ch’ing Empire’s founder K’ang-hsi and his Bannermen in sweeping them away.

We do live in interesting times.

Beware of what you desire – you might get it.

  3. Andrew

The woman is from the Socialist Party, but her smackdown of Obama was hilarious.

  4. Eyrie

Don’t worry Mk50, we’ll be sure to let in heaps of refugees from Egypt so Australia will be turned in to the same sort of craphole as Egypt is.

  5. Alfonso

How come these ethnics aren’t speaking Gaelic? Cultural traitors.
Bet they don’t even do a welcome to country by the part Irish.

  6. C.L.

Compare to our own pussy question time.

  7. duncanm

    Obumma in Berlin,

1/10th the crowd of that “fool” Reagan

    bwahahaha

  8. Token

I truly was shocked that the Sun King thought he had a right to comment on these matters…

If this looks eerily familiar to you, then you are a student of the way the Ming society collapsed, and the actions of the Ch’ing Empire’s founder K’ang-hsi and his Bannermen in sweeping them away.

    Quite so

This was two serious adults, one of them a woman, having a very intense and heartfelt argument about very complex situations. Nothing about sexism – merely strong critique on each side about the policies of the other and each giving as good as they got in terms of debate. Yes, she is obviously from the socialist side, but that doesn’t negate her critique of Obama’s policy on Syria, nor of his grandstanding in Ireland.

The Irish, when fired up, give a bounty to the English language. Their accent adds force and a brilliantly dismissive element to the word choice and phrasing they take in arguments. They don’t need Gaelic, which is hardly a living language anymore. Like Welsh, it is on life support. It’s great for historical purposes, but kids doing an intensive in Gaeltalk at school camps love to break out into the forbidden English the minute they get a chance away from authorities.

  10. And he has triggered
So speaking out is “triggering” violent conflict.
What would you call a war of invasion based on a lie, and seven years of occupation, indiscriminate slaughter of civilians, and the complete destruction of national infrastructure?

  11. crocodile

How come these ethnics aren’t speaking Gaelic? Cultural traitors.
Bet they don’t even do a welcome to country by the part Irish.

She did refer to the Prime Minister as Taoiseach, does that count.

  12. jupes

Compare to our own pussy question time.

Straight talking. No heckling. Very listenable.

Our parliament is so pathetic I would categorise it as unlistenable. I haven’t tuned in since Julie Bishop questioned TLS’ ethics. And even that was torturous.

  13. Elizabeth (Lizzie) B.

She did refer to the Prime Minister as Taoiseach, does that count.

Certainly does. They all take that very seriously.

  14. jupes

So speaking out is “triggering” violent conflict …

    It certainly can be.

… and the complete destruction of national infrastructure?

LOL What? Are Iraqis now living in a post nuclear apocalyptic landscape? Numbers I’ve told you a million times not to exaggerate.

  15. Empire Strikes Back

What would you call a war of invasion based on a lie, and seven years of occupation, indiscriminate slaughter of civilians, and the complete destruction of national infrastructure?

The Iraq War. Do I get an elephant stamp? Oops, of course not, that’s the mascot for the evil GOP. Gold star?

What’s your point? That the poor judgement of one’s predecessor abrogates one’s own treachery? You are a deluded, loathsome and repugnant boor.

  16. Proof of my theory dat Irish men are Rosie cheeked soft voiced fellers while dere women are ferocious and hard faced, so dey are.

  17. That the poor judgement of one’s predecessor
This “poor judgement” created the disaster that the incumbent has been trying to repair since his first inauguration. It’s slowly coming good, but much damage lingers……

  18. Are Iraqis now living in a post nuclear apocalyptic landscape?
Whatever you call it (and it wasn’t “post nuclear” – Saddam didn’t have nuclear weapons, remember), it’s not great – both economically and socially.

  19. Gab

Honestly, Sinclair this numbers person needs to be booted for derailing the thread.

  20. Snoopy

Saddam didn’t have nuclear weapons, remember

Not for lack of trying. Thanks Israel.

  21. Mk50 of Brisbane, Henchman to the VRWC

    Numbers, you spavined cretin:

So speaking out is “triggering” violent conflict.

banal leftie tactic #456, try and apply the entire point to one single issue unrelated to anything except your own prejudices.

You ignorant and pitiful racist fool, the Shiz (Paco™) approved and implemented an extremely foolish policy which destabilised Libya, Egypt and Syria and brought about the collapse of their governance, with the Muslim Ikhwan and a spectrum of extreme islamist groups including Al Qaeda moving into the power vacuum in all three countries. Libya is now essentially fragmented into three major and several smaller tribal states, all in conflict with each other, Egypt is quite literally about to starve, Syria has dissolved into a bloody civil war, and this is in the very process of leading to a Sunni-Shia religious war on a scale unknown since the Ghilzai general Mahmud shattered their army at Gulnabad, captured Isfahan and caused fall of the Safavid Empire in 1722.

And you are trying to say ‘Bush did it?’

You blithering idiot, Iraq is not even a central player in this game at this stage, it’s on the outer periphery!

You have clearly demonstrated a grasp of events barely exceeding that of the average carrot.

  22. ugh

“So speaking out is “triggering” violent conflict.
What would you call a war of invasion based on a lie,”

I would call that hijacking a thread numbers.

Anything to get the conversation away from Obama huh?

  23. Megan

Pretty sure my political views are a fair bit different to those of Ms Daly but that first couple of minutes about the unrestrained sucking up to The Chosen One? Perfect agreement

  24. Samuel J

It’s a joke Obama won the Peace Prize when he is arming Syrian Islamists to fight a Jihad and using drones to kill thousands of people.

  25. Splatacrobat

Honestly, Sinclair this numbers person needs to be booted for derailing the thread.

Numbers needs to go on comment rationing like SfB. One bowel movement per day from these trolls on this site is still one too many but if they must foul the place they had better make good use of the penny they spend.

  26. lem

Are you SURE that woman is a lefty? She doesn’t at all act like our lefties when it comes to O man. Parental warning!
(I personally like the way Gillard checks out Barak’s booty at the War Memorial…chilling!)

  27. lem

I quote from the article, regarding Gillard’s intentions for Obama:

“Last night, she spoke of a “restless, forward questing” shared between the countries. She has added a dash of coquettishness, if not flirting, to US-Australian relations.”

There is no medication that can erase this from a mind, once seen and contemplated.

  28. Elizabeth (Lizzie) B.

Abu, I t’ink yure t’eory is ondermined by a man from dat contry dat I know.

And by my soft-faced Irish friend Brigid, who can swing a feisty fist, but sings sweetly enough to break your heart.

  29. Angus Black

For me, the most significant thing was seeing PM’s question time actually resulting in a serious examination of the differences between the views of the Govt and the questioner. Compare this with the twaddle and posturing that represents QT in our parliament.

I’m embarrassed, routinely, about how well NZ (and even Westminster) compares with our joke of a QT, but this sets the bar at an almost reasonable height.

  30. Angus Black

Sorry Jupes – missed your comment. Should have said: Quite so.

  31. Oh come on

The guy behind the Taoiseach has a terrifying tie. It’s a blue tie, so that would scare the crap out of our own Taoiseach (she’d say ‘tayo-ay-seech’ no doubt), but it would also alarm anyone who didn’t have an obsession with avian species of the equatorial regions.

But yes, Clare Daly’s a lot more impressive than the typical HoR backbencher QT grilling – the backbencher almost always being a government MP, mumbling and stuttering through their Dorothy Dixer written down on an A4 sheet of paper, held with shaking hand.

  32. J.H.

I don’t agree with what she did there… Obama isn’t a war criminal. To say so is offensive…. He is a lot of things, but he isn’t a war criminal and neither is Bush, Clinton or Reagan.

Obama may have a very real case to answer to when it comes to unconstitutional conduct. Taking American armed forces and assets into the conflict in Libya without Congressional approval… etc.

Anywhoo…. This Irish parliamentarian should respect the position she holds and use more appropriate language….. Otherwise she is just doing what Bob Brown did to Bush….. A stunt that achieves no political or social purpose. Ineffective and divisive.

  33. JamesK

To be fair, she’s one of the uncommon ugly Oirish girls and dat’s ‘cos she’s a leftist and da eevil humours have pinched her face.

  34. jupes

… and using drones to kill thousands of people.

An Obama policy that I wholeheartedly support.
