I think Kevin Rudd will attend the G-20 Leaders’ Summit on 5 – 6 September. Yes, Saint Petersburg is 6 hours behind Canberra, which means Kevin would return on (or after) election day.
But Kevin wants to parade before the other leaders at the G-20 meeting he claims to have created. He thinks that this will help some swinging voters shift to Labor.
Perhaps in the depths of his heart he knows that the election will be lost to Labor. Why not take that last opportunity for self-aggrandisement? Perhaps there will be opportunities to attract sympathy from G-20 leaders and get a plum job at the United Nations?
If Saint Petersburg won’t come to Canberra, Rudd will go to Saint Petersburg.
