One of my mates sent me this from Crikey – I don’t go there, not surprisingly:
There’s a chorus of economic opinion against Tony Abbott on paid parental leave. Even Judith Sloan, the economist who long since gave up her independent economist reputation in cheering for a Tony Abbott victory at The Australian, reckons the Coalition’s scheme is “too generous, too expensive and wasteful of precious taxpayer funds.”
Indeed, I think Tony Abbott’s PPL is a crock. Mind you, there are problems with the government’s PPL but at least it costs less.
Any thoughts, Cats?
And should I be offended? Surely the fact that I am prepared to criticise TA’s PPL confirms my independence. I am just keen to point out lousy government and appalling policy when they occur – and there has been a whole lot of both in the past six years.
