I’ve told Him the bad news (could be good news? hmmm) that there is a new man in my life. Actually, I haven’t met him but he is the new Liberal member for Hume. His name is Angus Taylor.
I say watch this space. He is a country boy raised on a cattle station. He was a Rhodes Scholar and worked for Port Jackson Partners (one of the best consulting firms around) before returning to the country.
He looks like future PM material to me.
But there is really so much talent in the seconds of the Liberal Parliamentary Party – lots of individuals with interesting backgrounds and seriously smart. They make the ministry look pretty ordinary, in my opinion. In due course, time to move over, some of you old boys.
To name some of these future stars:
- Kelly O’Dwyer (should have been Parliamentary Secretary – she was robbed)
- Michaelia Cash
- Josh Frydenberg
- Paul Fletcher
- Alan Tudge
- Scott Ryan
- Mitch Fifield
- Tony Smith (again robbed)
- Christian Porter
- Arthur Sinodinos
- Jamie Briggs
To be sure, not enough women, but what a talented bunch, brimming full of ideas and, in most cases, broader experiences.
Another thought: If Bronwyn Bishop and Sophie Mirabella had made it into Cabinet, the leftoids would have been complaining that Abbott had just appointed them because they were women, not on the basis of competence.
