I was driving back from the airport and local ABC radio had this as its lead story. Just amazing – a community funded propaganda unit to replace the appalling Climate Commission. And this was the lead item on the 1 pm news.
(Islamic terrorists killing innocent civilians is not regarded as particularly newsworthy in the eyes of the people who compile the ABC news bulletins. And did anyone notice the piece in the Age suggesting we should be on Kenya’s side. Yeh, I guess the alternative of lending our support to religious zealots who go about killing people has some appeal.)
My guess is that warmenists and other suckers who are handing over some money (not for long, I would suggest) have never bothered to look at the Climate Commission website and to read its turgid and lop-sided ‘reports’. Talk about unsubstantiated alarmism. And apolitical – my arse.
And check out the tone of the ‘reports’ dealing with carbon pricing – the condescension is overwhelming and the use of carbon pollution completely unacceptable.
And note two other interesting aspects of the story:
- Former commissioners will be working pro bono for the time being – in other words, if enough money is raised, it will be a nice little earners for them in due course and no need to bother with Rem Tribunal guidelines;
- The Climate Institute – another privately funded global warming scarefest outfit – is none too impressed with the establishment of the Climate Council. Evidently, it will be very confusing for everyone. Don’t you just love it?
But three cheers to Greg Hunt, Environment Minister, who really nailed the story: “That’s the great thing about democracy, it’s a free country and it proves our point that the commission didn’t have to be a taxpayer funded body.”
