Congratulations to Andrew Bolt and Chris Berg

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANDREW!

Chris Berg has been nominated to be considered by the committee to be recognized as a Critical Rationalist Scholar with special reference to his work on freedom of speech.

The criteria for the award are the same as the requirements for the Rhodes Scholarship. This was introduced to dispell suspions that the awards were being handed out to friends and relations of the committee. Contrary to rumours that are abroad in some circles Professor Bunyip has not been nominated for the award.

Chris is a worthy nomination for his work here in Australia

When I consider the damage done by Roxon etal I want to spit chips. She came close.

  3. I appreciate all the work Andrew and Chris have put in. Best wishes to both!

Chris Berg is a worthy warrior in the fight to retain all the freedoms for which tens of thousands spilt blood and which took centuries to be achieved and which are now under threat from the tin-hat totalitarians of the left.

You only have to read and hear the likes of Professor Gillian Triggs (for a professor she is) to know she is one of the standard bearers in the march through the institutions.

I think we seriously dodged a bullet there. Not wanting to belittle the excellent work done by Chris, but for once it was largely Labor’s utter incompetence that actually saved the day here.

And Mark Dreyfus still wants to implement what Von Roxoff started. We haven’t dodged a bullet, it’s still there in the gun, Von Roxoff’s hand was shaking because the somnambulant public was stirred to wakefulness but they’ll fall asleep again.

Dissapointed Proffessor Bunyip didnt get there…..maybe if he does more writing and less fishing he will get a guernsy next year….one can only hope!

maybe if he does more writing and less fishing

No, the fishing is a definite requisite for the criteria. Manly outdoors sports and all that.

I agree, and who could forget this defense of free speech

  10. Abu Chowdah

Am confused. Can see no reference to Berg or Bolt at the link.

  11. Rafe

There is no link to Bolt because everyone is supposed to know about him.
One link is to othe list of CR scholars which Chris may join, depending on the decision of the committee.
There is a link to Chris Berg’s profile on the IPA site.
And the final link is thrown in as a bonus for those who like to read Bunyip’s pungent commentry.

BoltA does let his journalist brain rule his opinions on Abbott though.

  13. Michel Lasouris

    Err…… dispell suspions……?

  14. Happy birthday Bolta. Us September babies have to stick together.

  15. Scientist

misspell suspicions? The criteria can be the same but clearly the calibre of applicant will be a little different given the hundreds of first class honours students who apply for the handful of Rhodes scholarships and then go on to PhDs at Oxford!
