Today is the 40th anniversary of Ludwig von Mises’ death. He passed away on October 10, 1973 aged 92. I discuss his life in the first half of this video clip.
If you haven’t made his acquaintance then with summer coming you might want to add some of his books onto your reading list. A good place to start is:
The Anti-Capitalistic Mentality
or you could jump into his magnum opus:
Human Action. I recommend the 4th edition over the Scholar’s edition (just the 1st edition). You can also download the audio book (based on the 1st edition).
His memoirs were written before his really important contributions were made. His wife’s memoirs are here. A long biography is here and Israel Kirzner’s biography is here (alas not available as a zero-price download).
Update: David Hart of the Liberty Fund emails to remind me of their excellent Mises collection. You can download their stuff at zero-price too. They also have magnificent printed books and are the process of publishing Mises’ works – along with other great Austrian economists like Israel Kirzner.
