  1. There’s plenty of reference in the bible to exhortations to violence.
Considering when it was written, that’s hardly a surprise.
The same could be said of the Koran.

Examples of hate literature in the Hebrew Scriptures (Old Testament):

The Mosaic Code consists of 613 injunctions, which are found in the book of Leviticus and other books in the Hebrew Scriptures. Some of the Code might be considered hate literature, because it targets people on the basis of their religion, gender, and sexual orientation.

The book of Joshua contains numerous examples of genocides ordered by God against the inhabitants of Canaan. These were based on the Canaanites having followed a different religion from the Hebrews. A casual reader of the Bible might conclude that God is teaching that people who do not worship him are sub-human and have no right to exist. Five examples from other books in the King James Version (KJV) of the Hebrew Scriptures include:

Exodus 22:18: “Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live.” This calls for the execution of all “witches.” English Bibles differ in their translation of the Hebrew word “m’khashepah” in this verse. Some render it as “witch;” others as “sorceress” or “any woman who does evil magic,” etc. The vast majority of persons who call themselves Witches in North America are followers of Wicca or other Neopagan religion. Promoting the execution of Witches, or the followers of any other religion, is advocating religious genocide — one of the most serious forms of hate literature.

Exodus 22:20: “He that sacrificeth unto any god, save unto the LORD only, he shall be utterly destroyed.” The “Lord” in this case refers to Yahweh. Literally interpreted, this verse would only apply to those North Americans who follow religions like Santeria — who often sacrifice chickens to their Gods and Goddesses — or to Wiccans — who have been known to sacrifice an apple or other fruit in a religious ritual. Interpreted more generally, the verse calls for the genocide of followers of all religions other than Judaism and Christianity.

Leviticus 20:13: “If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. they must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads.” This calls for the execution of men who engage in at least some form of same-sex behavior. Theologians differ greatly over specifically which acts are included in this passage. Some English translations of the Bible imply that any sexually active gay or lesbian should be executed. Some liberal theologians interpret the verse as applying only to two men engaging in ritual sex in a Pagan temple. Since the Lawrence v. Texas ruling of the U.S. Supreme Court in 2003, consensual sexual activity between two male or two female adults is no longer considered a criminal act anywhere in the U.S. Any literature which advocates the execution of two persons for performing a legal act would seem to promote the restriction of a person’s human rights – the right to live. This would appear to qualify as hate literature.

Deuteronomy 13:1-5 “If there arise among you a prophet, … saying, Let us go after other gods, which thou hast not known, and let us serve them…And that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams, shall be put to death…So shalt thou put the evil away from the midst of thee….” This verse is another call for genocide against religious minorities. If applied in North America, it would result in the execution of every non Judeo-Christian clergyperson, and all laity who are engaged in proselytizing.

Psalms 79:6: “Pour out thy wrath upon the heathen that have not known thee, and upon the kingdoms that have not called upon thy name.” This is a call to God to commit genocide against persons of other faiths who are either unfamiliar with Judaism and Christianity, or who have learned and rejected these religions.

  2. Tom

What gives, Jacques? The system turned the page at comment #997.

  3. Tiny Dancer

Psalm 79.6. Read the previous 5 lines fuckwit. It’s said after they have been attacked and destroyed. Dishonest deadshit

  4. jupes

Jupes only one of those passages really incites violence and it sounds like it was written by a dude on an LSD trip.

Three do Dot. The other was just a bit of Jew-hate and slander I threw in to give the overall flavour.
Be careful though, there will be a fatwa on you for suggesting Allah’s on acid.

There are lots of comparable phrases in the bible – ‘stone disobedient children’ comes to mind.

There is a big difference. The Bible is a huge book, the Koran is tiny. A Christian preacher could preach a different sermon every Sunday and not delve into hate speech over the period of his entire life. An Imam would be battling after a couple of months. As I said above; only 11 of 114 chapters in the Koran don’t implore the devout Muslim to hate the Kaffir.

The problem isn’t the book, but what people decide to read into it.

Nope. The problem is the book. Every word in it is Allah’s and he isn’t known for his subtlety.

  5. kae

Okay, so now we’re comparing the exhortations of the Old Testament with those of the koran (the inimitable, irrefutable, unchangeable “word of allah”, direct from allah through mohammed – why by the way is the person that most followers of islam strive to emulate, mohammed a paedophile bandit who twisted the then religions to suit his goal of world domination, which seems to be still working thousands of years after his death).

How many ministers/priests these days tell God’s flock that it’s OK to kill in the name of God? How many Christians kill for God these days?

The Old Testament was from a time when violence was commonplace, and Christianity has reformed a lot since then. islam not so much.

Note: not scare quotes, just quote quotes.

  6. candy

It seems extra0rdinary for the governor-general to attend the funeral of Daniel Christie.
Surely it would be more appropriate for a representative of Mr O’Farrell’s government, if anyone official at all. This coward punch violence seems related to certain areas of Sydney.

I understand she called the parents to see if she could attend. What a strange turn of events.

  7. pete m

She bought this lovely new black dress and had no party invites, so a funeral was the next best thing.

    She is so embarassing.

  8. Gab

It’s the old lefty rule, Candy: Never let a tragedy go to waste. Plus she’s probably gearing up for something in relation to ‘making people aware’ of this type of violence when she leaves the GG’s position.

  9. jupes

What a strange turn of events.

Maybe Peanut Head is gearing up for a federal law and order campaign, or a double wowser anti-alcohol campaign.

The boats are getting embarrassing and he needs a distraction.

  10. candy

    ‘making people aware’

I think everyone knows about it, Gab. It’s been all over the news. Her being there won’t make a skerrick of difference, far as I can tell.

In fact it will put the spotlight on her and what she is wearing, rather than the sadness of this young man’s death.

  11. Gab

Candy, where have you been? Lefties always want to ‘make people aware’ of their cause du jour.

Even going to funerals of people they don’t know, Gab? Why not just make a public statement or a speech somewhere, that’s her role.
What other funerals will she attend by the time her tenure is up.

  14. Gab

Even going to funerals of people they don’t know

That’s the ‘never let a tragedy go to waste’ bit and setting up herself for a future role related where she raises the profile of such violence in some way.

It’s just a piss-take Dot. However I have taken it on board and up-dated Lyon’s entry. It now reads:

    Boom tish. Ouch.

    Heh! I just won $50.

  18. kae

Compare the Bible and the koran. I have two questions (I have to go).

    1. Where in the Bible does it exhort men to beat their wives? (It is in the koran.)

    2. What does the Bible say should be done to Christian apostates? What does the koran say should be done to islamic apostates?

  19. Brian of Moorabbin

If she is all fired up about coward punches, why didn’t the GG attend the funeral of 18 yo Thomas Kelly, who died 18 months ago in PRECISELY the same circumstances (from injuries received after he was coward punched) – an incident that also occurred less than 100 metres from where Shaun MacNeil hit Daniel Christie.

Or has it only become fashionable after this latest tragedy?

18 months ago the GG had no idea what she was going to do after her term was up. Today she does.

They’re trying to trash our Navy, I think. Could be called sedition.

  23. boy on a bike

Turns out the country shopper who said Scott Morrison fired warning shots in the air near Christmas Island just made it up.

That story is completely unbelievable. If Morrison was shooting a weapon, he’d be shooting it at something – like cute kittens or a whale. Or dolphins.

  24. Gab

The trashing of our Navy is just collateral damage, Candy. The target is, and always will be, Abbott.
It was the same modus operandi when the ABC “reported” on spying under Rudd of the Indonesians, attempting to damage relations between us and them was the collateral damage.

  25. Brian of Moorabbin

Every day I ask myself the same question:
    How f*cking stupid are people?

Victorian paramedics have been shocked by the number of parents leaving children locked in cars during an extreme heatwave blistering most of southern Australia.

Yesterday, Victorian paramedics received 11 reports of children being locked in cars as temperatures peaked at 43°C in Melbourne, with a similarly scorching outlook until Friday.

What’s the odds that the parents of those 11 children were ‘finding relief from the heat’ by going into air-conditioned shopping centres, cinemas, or similar.

Honestly, when will it become mandatory for people to get a licence to breed….

  26. Tom

Brian, if your mob brought charges of conduct endangering life instead of letting these morons off with a warning, the focus would be on the judiciary’s handling of these cases. Just a thought.

  27. Turns out the country shopper who said Scott Morrison fired warning shots in the air near Christmas Island just made it up.

    And you’d believe Scott Morrison?
You probably also believed Howard, Ruddock and Reith in October 2001.

  28. The trashing of our Navy is just collateral damage, Candy. The target is, and always will be, Abbott.
It was the same modus operandi when the ABC “reported” on spying under Rudd of the Indonesians, attempting to damage relations between us and them was the collateral damage.

Same with the Australia Day riot, the passing of same sex marriage laws by the ACT government and making a big fuss about Holden departure but not Mitsubishi and Ford.

  29. Gab

People who leave children unattended in a locked car face fines of up to $22,000.

On Tuesday police in Sydney were called to a vehicle at about 10pm (AEDT) to find a nine-month-old baby boy in the back seat, who they removed after forcing entry.

A 31-year-old woman is likely to be charged for leaving her son in the car while she did chores in a nearby unit.

  30. jupes

    2. What does the Bible say should be done to Christian apostates?

    Deuteronomy:

    13:6 If thy brother, the son of thy mother, or thy son, or thy daughter, or the wife of thy bosom, or thy friend, which is as thine own soul, entice thee secretly, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which thou hast not known, thou, nor thy fathers;
    13:7 Namely, of the gods of the people which are round about you, nigh unto thee, or far off from thee, from the one end of the earth even unto the other end of the earth;
13:8 Thou shalt not consent unto him, nor hearken unto him; neither shall thine eye pity him, neither shalt thou spare, neither shalt thou conceal him:
13:9 But thou shalt surely kill him; thine hand shall be first upon him to put him to death, and afterwards the hand of all the people.
13:10 And thou shalt stone him with stones, that he die; because he hath sought to thrust thee away from the LORD thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.

As I said above, the Bible has plenty of hate speech and incitement to violence however it differs from the Koran in that it is so large that you can attend a sermon a week and be unaware of the garbage written in Leviticus and Deuteronomy. You are an example of this.

  31. candy

On Tuesday police in Sydney were called to a vehicle at about 10pm (AEDT) to find a nine-month-old baby boy in the back seat, who they removed after forcing entry.

That may have been a tragedy only just avoided. Babies can die within an hour or two in a locked car as it heats so much within a short space of time.

  32. kae

Yes, Jupes. However, what does happen to Christian apostates, and what happens to apostates of islam?

Is it not a dead giveaway that data thief Edward Snowden, after announcing his righteous crusade against alleged US domestic spying by the NSA, has done nothing but release details of legitimate, targeted foreign espionage by conservative political administrations in allied countries — Harper, Abbott, Merkel, etc?

  34. Yes, Jupes. However, what does happen to Christian apostates, and what happens to apostates of islam?

There are half a million Muslims in Australia.
How many have been put to death for apostasy?

  35. Infidel Tiger

Why the fuck would you want the GG at your funeral? All the attention will be on that swine and not the deceased.

  36. jupes

Yes, Jupes. However, what does happen to Christian apostates, and what happens to apostates of islam?

To be fair Kae, my example doesn’t actually answer your question. Deuteronomy is talking about Jewish apostates not Christians as there weren’t any around at the time. Still, it is in the Bible and therefore has been inspired by God. The New Testament is somewhat less violent as you know. So Christians obviously focus on that and avoid the older angry version of God. Jews also have found a way to avoid the violent and messy bits.

Muslims on the other hand, have no such opportunity. The Koran is Allah’s exact words as dictated to Old Mo and – as I have been banging on about – there isn’t enough good stuff in there to avoid the violent and messy bits.

How many times did I say Peter Fox was a lying wacko last year?

(Posting lengthier quote than above) …

A CHILD sex abuse victim has accused whistleblower policeman Peter Fox of exploiting her ordeal and giving false information in the national television interview that triggered the royal commission into institutional abuse, saying she no longer trusts him.

Previously confidential documents released by a state government inquiry reveal the victim, who cannot be named, explicitly contradicts the description of her given on the ABC’s Lateline program and is deeply upset her case was discussed on air.

In her evidence to the NSW Special Commission of Inquiry, the victim also accuses Mr Fox of “colluding” with a newspaper reporter by leaking the witness statement detailing her abuse, parts of which were published without consent.

In a series of emails with the Fairfax Media reporter Joanne McCarthy, the victim wrote: “I am shattered that Peter handed me over on a platter to you for his cause with no regard or respect for me.

“I feel at the moment that you have forgotten the victim as Peter Fox did … on Lateline. I am not something to be brought out when it suits someone’s point.”

    More on this anti-Catholic fabulist:

In her own evidence to the state inquiry, the woman said much of Mr Fox’s account was inaccurate, including his claim that she “came forward” to him saying “the only police officer I will speak to is Peter Fox”.

“Now, on that basis, of course I’m not going to turn her away,” Mr Fox told the ABC.

Giving evidence under oath, the victim said this was incorrect and the policeman first contacted her after being given her name by McCarthy. “As a sexual abuse victim, you usually find that the emotions for a victim is that they don’t have control over their lives,” she told the inquiry. “In this case, from the beginning, they were not honest with me.”

I don’t trust him, no, not any more,” she told the inquiry.

During June and July 2010, the inquiry has heard, Mr Fox spent several meetings taking a witness statement from the victim. He told her he was “undertaking a behind-the-scenes investigation on McAlinden”, she told the inquiry, and asked her not to mention it “to any one in the church or the police”.

During the Lateline broadcast, Mr Fox claimed to have been “ordered to stand down” from the police investigation, although the state inquiry has since heard he was, in fact, never part of this police strike force

A separate statutory declaration, from former Catholic sister Janice Wilson, describes media reports of “Peter Fox … saying that a (sister) of St Joseph who was assisting police, was ostracised and later dismissed by the order”. This was not correct, Ms Wilson said, as her request to leave the order was made before her involvement with police. “I was not dismissed. I freely chose to leave,” her statement reads.

The “Climate Council” has done the quickest bit of “science” since records were kept:

Heatwaves to become more severe – Climate Council.

On the back of the extreme conditions, the recently formed Climate Council has released interim findings from its new heatwave report.

The report found the likelihood of heatwaves lingering for longer and becoming more intense was increasing as greenhouse gases continued to accumulate in the atmosphere.

The Australian Heatwaves: Hotter, Longer, Earlier and More Often report found the number of hot days across Australia had more than doubled.

Of course it’s possible that in its rush to publish “findings” on heatwaves, Hotter, Longer, Earlier and More Often built on one of Rajendra Pachauri’s porn-novels-in-progress.

The Green-Left Weekly Radio Hour (Early Edition) formerly known as AM gets a lesson in the electricity market,

SIMON LAUDER: Are you surprised that the network isn’t more resilient to be able to cope with a heatwave?

MIKE SANDIFORD: Well, I’ve heard nothing to say that the network isn’t resilient at the moment. And in fact our demand at the moment has not reached the peak demand that we had five years ago.

And since five years ago in 2009 when our peak demand about eight days before the bush fires, January 29 was our peak demand day in 2009, 10.4 gigawatts, we’ve been building out the network, the infrastructure to distribute the electricity, at a rate which would expect that we might now be anticipating demands of over 11 gigawatts.

So it’s not the network, it’s the generation side. And what’s happened on the generation side is that over the last five or six years our base level consumption of electricity has fallen away so there’s been very little incentive to build out new generation because in fact over the year we are using less electricity. It’s just in these very hot spells that we occasionally get, our demand goes through the roof.

So when governments cave in to Green demands that shut down large base load industrial users, force retailers to buy domestic solar electricity at multiples of conventional base load costs and create massive regulatory risk for new electricity projects, who is surprised there is insufficient generation capacity when you need it? Well the ALPBC for a start.

Well, he does have a whole book named after him :-)

    Brian:

…Fairfax and the ABC who are openly and actively campaigning against a democratically elected government

And who have deliberately covered up massive ALP corruption, fraud and theft, rock-spidering and alleged rape of a 16 year old girl by some unknown senior member of teh current ALP front bench.

They even tried to ignore Eddie Obeid!

Numbers falls to his knees and scrabbles, slobbering, at their fly-zips whenever they appear, of course.

He would have made a splendid NKVD torturer of ‘unpersons’ or Lubyanka executioner.

Provided they were safely tied up and helpless, of course.

Greens mPs in Tas parliament are conspiring to get rid of Labor’s premier Lara Giddings.

    That was yesterday.

Today, Giddings has sacked two Greens ministers.

    Hilarity ensues.

  70. Leo G

“There are six things that the LORD strongly dislikes, …”

Solomon (or Hezekiah) knew that Andrew Bolt and Tim Blair should be abhorred by the LORD?
Those six things the LORD strongly dislikes (Proverbs 6:12-15 AKJV):-

12 A worthless person, a wicked man, is he who goes about with a perverse (contrary, wayward) mouth.
13 He winks with his eyes, he speaks by shuffling or tapping with his feet, he makes signs [to mislead and deceive] and teaches with his fingers.
14 Willful and contrary in his heart, he devises trouble, vexation, and evil continually; he lets loose discord and sows it.
15 Therefore upon him shall the crushing weight of calamity come suddenly; suddenly shall he be broken, and that without remedy.

  71. Brian of Moorabbin

Wow LeoG, that description reminds me of at least one person who posts here at the Cat…

Actually, truth be told, it reminds me of a number of them.

  72. twostix

devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil, a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows discord among brothers.

    Their ABC described.

  73. feelthebern

Discussing the ABC’s take on this with my brother.

Fairfax media says an Australian vessel “shot into the air” during the interception of a boat full of asylum seekers within sight of Christmas Island.

    http://www.abc.net.au/news/2014-01-16/morrison-rejects-reports-navy-fired-warning-shots-at-asylum-boat/5202340

No. Fairfax says a cop from an Indonesian village – who isn’t even prepared to let Fairfax say which district he’s from – says that a boat person says that the Australian navy fired a warning shot.

Amazing what Fairfax and the ABC will publish on the anonymous say-so of just about anyone when it comes to boats and alleged punch walls.

Yet the standard of proof required to whisper a word about the slush fund scandal?

  74. Tiny Dancer

And don’t forget that the Portugese gave us the PBG. Did they do much else?

  75. candy

ABC and Bill Shorten are trying very hard to sabotage the border policies. It makes you wonder if they really do want people to risk their lives and the lives of their children on the ocean.

  76. Pedro the Ignorant

And don’t forget that the Portugese gave us the PBG.

    What is a “PBG”?

  77. C.L.

Funniest thing of the week so far:

ABC: Natalegawa: Lifeboats a slippery slope.

If we start by saving lives who knows where it could end.

  78. nic

No. Fairfax says a cop from an Indonesian village – who isn’t even prepared to let Fairfax say which district he’s from – says that a boat person says that the Australian navy fired a warning shot.

The whole original article was a disgrace that could be pulled apart, from the bit that said “the boat pasengers (refugees) had left their hotel and could not be reached for contact, no one knew where they had gone”, to a number of claims that perhaps the boat had sunk and the Government was nasty because briefings gave no clue to the boat’s demise etc.

  79. 13 He winks with his eyes, he speaks by shuffling or tapping with his feet, he makes signs [to mislead and deceive] and teaches with his fingers.
14 Willful and contrary in his heart, he devises trouble, vexation, and evil continually; he lets loose discord and sows it.

ABC and Bill Shorten are trying very hard to sabotage the border policies. It makes you wonder if they really do want people to risk their lives and the lives of their children on the ocean.

    Of course they do.

They want people to die. As many as possible.

  83. Mk50 of Brisbane, Henchman to the VRWC

    Trolls.

Best squished. And how they squeal when you use their own tactics in doing so…

Is it wrong to have fun and use their own tactics when squishing trolls?

  84. Steve of Glasshouse

Apostacy according to Jesus and MO

  85. candy

Is it wrong to have fun and use their own tactics when squishing trolls?

You fret too much Mk50. I doubt you can change his opinions. Why knock yourself out like that.

  86. Or trolls.

    Absolutely.
Bolt and Blair are professional trolls…

  87. nic

Numbers, the Smeagol of the blogosphere. Hisssssss, nooo Bolt and Blair, it burns us, it stings ussssssss.

  88. Mk50 of Brisbane, Henchman to the VRWC

because it’s fun, Candy. I loathe racists and bigots – and socialism has these factors ingrained in its very structure because it is an elitist totalitarian ideology.

    Therefore it is fundamentally evil.

Edmund Burke had the hard core of it: All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.

  89. candy

All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.

I understand that Mk50, but really, he’s just a bloke on a forum, that’s all. I’ll say no more! :-)

Aren’t leg spinners exercising the Powers of Heaven?

  93. ABC and Bill Shorten are trying very hard to sabotage the border policies. It makes you wonder if they really do want people to risk their lives and the lives of their children on the ocean.

If the government policy is sabotaged, they can then say “It can never be done. I told you so. We are more humane blah blah blah…”

If the government policy succeeds anyway, Shorten will then say “That’s Labor’s policy at work…”

  94. Mk50 of Brisbane, Henchman to the VRWC

Oh, not quite true, Candy, he’s a stalinist and a racist bigot on a forum. But you are of course correct about teh picayune scale of such a pathetic, banal and evil little man. Which is why this is light entertainment for me.

I work as best I can at a higher level in combating such creatures, and have had since the late 70s.

hell, we started up busting up their marches and meetings street brawl style back then. Bags of fun. Their own little squads of thugs were used to ruling the roost: my, did they not squeal when we turned their own tactics on them and used ‘superior firepower’.

It was so unfair that others did unto them as they were wont to do.

  95. A Savonarola can quell and scatter a mob of lynchers with a mere glance of his eye: so can a Merrill or a Beloat. For no mob has any sand in the presence of a man known to be splendidly brave…

I believe that if anything can stop this epidemic of bloody insanities it is martial personalities that can face mobs without flinching; and as such personalities are developed only by familiarity with danger and by the training and seasoning which come of resisting it… Marl Twain

Mark Twain writing in reference to lynching but I suspect the same holds true in halting the “epidemic of bloody insanities” that is late and full term abortion.

Our parliaments, state and federal are peopled by physical and moral cowards, pure and simple. I shouldn’t be too hard on them as they are incapable of courageous thought let alone action. I might as well rail against a fish for being unable to fly or a bird to swim.

And aren’t these people drawn from the general population of the country? Perhaps politicians do represent the unspoken desires of the nation as whole; perhaps we are a country of quislings.

  96. Derp

That’s a low blow, even for you Numbers 457 and not worthy of comment.

  97. Isn’t the trouble though, that trolls (and here, I am assuming that I am not viewed as one) are like the Lernaean Hydra? Every time you cut off a head, they grow two more.

  98. Rudiau

Every time you cut off a head, they grow two more.

Certainly hope it’s not this troll to which you are referring. One is bad enough.
JC, meet the mother of your baby.

  99. Tintarella di Luna

Yes, Jupes. However, what does happen to Christian apostates,

They work for the ALPBC, Fauxfax, Crikey or they tie themselves to trees for The Greens,

  100. Tintarella di Luna

Clever boy, Royal Marines save the day.

Thank goodness for Christmas Carol services.

  101. Mk50 of Brisbane, Henchman to the VRWC

Stalinist Numbers, racist bigot and self-outed onanist:

Wonder how many of these [images of Aboriginal soldiers] would have been considered fair dinkum by Bolt if he had been writing back in the day?

Is not this racist projection by our pet racist just typical of such creatures?

And it is not even as if this is anything new; the history of Aboriginal WWI soldiers has been covered for decades.

it’s of course entirely new to a racist ignoramus like Numbers, of course, so as quick as his little paws could move he scurried about to make a racist smear out of it. Typical behaviour from a racist, of course, they routinely accuse the decent of what they themselves think.

Numbers, you are getting predictable and boring. Got any new monkey-tricks, or is it still the same old same old?

  102. Mk50 of Brisbane, Henchman to the VRWC

Cripes, Rudiau, some warning please. Nearly lost my lunch over that one.

The only member of the KGB known to be an Australian Senator…. it’s a grim sight.
