For Dredd tragics

The Judge Dredd America story is an absolute classic.

Here is the first page of the graphic novel.

Dredd - America

Here is Dredd star Karl Urban reading that page.

How cool is that?

2000AD is selling a graphic novel sequel to the movie for £1.99. Its a good story, but I’m not convinced by the premise of a graphic novel being a sequel to a movie. This is especially given that Dredd is portrayed as his usual self just in the movie uniform and not as Karl Urban as Dredd.

    Yup, enjoyed that immensely…

America is a touchstone of perversity and justice..
Read the Wiki if you arent afraid of spoilers..

TLDR version: Man is keeping his head down in the meg and becomes a success. His old childhood sweetheart wants liberty, not Judges.
She uses him, he betrays her.
    Anything else is a spoiler…

Best bit is the clever buggers have the same story-line still going ten years later with a daughter as a judge (through the most perverse and disturbing sequence you could imagine)

I have the megazine the story it is in, its workmanlike but not inspired.

I have to admit I was a little sad the movie didn’t have a more exotic drug like Umpty or Stookie..

Stookie glanding: butchering Stookies, an intelligent alien race, for the anti-aging drug they produce.
Umpty-baggers: pushers of umpty, a candy that tastes so good it forms an instant psychological addiction.

Yeah, Karl urban did alright I guess…. Better than Sly Stollone anyway.

But Dredd needs to be even grittier

(Note: Recording quality not as good as it could be because I threw it together in less than 5 minutes on my home PC using a crappy headset/mic combo, and not in a professional studio…)
