Another even better miracle on ice

Not much of a video but the best I can do. And if there has been any other news today, I haven’t seen it. This was for the Women’s Hockey (sur glace) Olympic final.

Down 0-2 with 3:26 left in the game, Canada scores one, to make it 1-2, they pull their goalie for an extra attacker and the USA shoots the puck down the ice and hits the post. Canada then takes the puck up the ice and scores to make it 2-2. And so into sudden-death overtime and at 8:26 into the ten minute overtime Canada scores to win the game.

And meanwhile, in the men’s. Russia knocked out by Finland 3-1, and Canada only just gets past Croatia (do they have ice?) 2-1 or maybe it was Latvia.

Men’s semi – Canada and USA again, tonight. And after the Women’s final, this one will be even more for real.

The Canada v USA men’s hockey game has gotten serious, judging by this billboard in Toronto.

Dear Val. It was Latvia anyway, but the odd part is that hockey is now the real thing in all kinds of places that were never seen as major ice hockey nations before. North of the Alps everything freezes, but to tell the truth, I haven’t missed it very much since I moved downunder.

Can they maybe manufacture the puk with inbuilt flashing fluorescent LEDs?

I can’t see the bloody thing.

I was on the piss last night with several ice hockey playing and loving Canadians. Standout comment: “Women’s ice hockey? That ought to be in the paralympics.” My response: “There’s a lot to be said for women with no teeth.”

    What a coincidence.
They were they exact words uttered by Russian goalie Igor Kalyagin just before he died in 1986.

Im surprised , in this PC world we live in, that ” progressives” aren’t marching in the streets demanding the end of gender segregation in sport.

Shit a Steve Kates post with no mention of Say’s Law or Keynes. It’s a miracle.

Currently watching the Canada v USA men’s hockey semi-final on OneHD. Canucks up 1-0 with 11 minutes to go. The commentators are terribly biased towards the Americans, which is surprising because I would have thought Channel Ten would realise that most of the Australian audience would barrack for their Commonwealth cousins.

Looks like the Americans got the Bieber booby prize, Canada wins the semi-final 1-0.
