Good news from the North. The Queensland Independent Remuneration Tribunal has recommended that Premier Campbell Newman’s salary be increased by $70,000 pa.

  2. James

Labor Opposition can’t believe its luck

These people view the world through a prism. So, to lose government in all states bar SA (which is stripped of its majority) is somehow a win.

  3. James

news.com.au has become such a joke

Yeah, the top 10 news is always about Miranda’s boobs or some cat meows on youtube

  4. Senile Old Guy

The classic thought experiment is to imagine how these putative health groups would react to the creation of a safe cigarette. In this hypothetical situation, those who are genuinely concerned with health would be delighted while the moral crusaders and anti-industry fanatics would be inconsolable. Thanks to the e-cigarette, this scenario is no longer hypothetical and what a litmus test it has been for those of us who have always wondered how many zealots and opportunists were masquerading as health campaigners.

By this test, it appears that rather a lot of anti-smoking campaigners are not very interested in health. Indeed, if we are to judge them by their actions rather than their words, they are positively anti-health. Let’s name names. It turns out that Simon Chapman, an Australian sociologist who spent his younger days vandalising cigarette billboards is – surprise, surprise – more interested in fighting industry than helping people quit.

    The rest.

  5. James

Titz keeps asking the same questions over and over again:

“Given you beat your wife everyday, have you beaten your wife today yet?”

  6. Rabz

SOG – don’t get me started on Simon Crapman …

  7. C.L.

Labor Opposition can’t believe its luck

Yeah, they’re sure on a roll.

  8. Bruce

Before Simon got interested in fags, smokes that is,he was a leading light in the Coalition for Gun Control. Together with the very attractive Rebecca Peters he worked long and hard to ensure that only criminals had access to firearms.

  9. C.L.

Bishop just named member for Isaacs.

Wow. Haven’t seen this for a while.

  10. Aaron

Hooray Dreyfus is getting evicted. Maybe that will give him time to visit his electorate in outer Melbourne for once.

  11. Infidel Tiger

news.com.au has become such a joke over the last couple of years.

News.com.au is the digital scratchings from Malcolm Farr’s underpants.

  12. C.L.

Bishop also told Skye-Rooter to sit down when he tried to make one of his macho ‘points of order.’

  13. Geriatric Mayfly

    How many days for Doofus?

  14. C.L.

Prediction: Skye-Rooter will immediately make a ‘point of order’ when division is concluded.

  15. Aaron

Prediction: Skye-Rooter will immediately make a ‘point of order’ when division is concluded.

And I hope Bishop names him immediately and he can be evicted as well.

  16. Infidel Tiger

Bishop also told Skye-Rooter to sit down when he tried to make one of his macho ‘points of order.’

Pretty hard to sound macho when you have a speech impediment that sounds like a wind screen wiper on a gay pride float.

  17. Foggyfig

I am reading up on it, CL, because I didn’t know about it.

  18. Grigory M

Woohoo – Doofus named by Madam Speaker for wilful and disorderly conduct. Up to five days suspension, plus loss of salary and benefits.

  19. Foggyfig

It is serious. His QCship might not help him this time :D

  20. Bruce of Newcastle

“Barry is a fuckwit”??? Way,way too kind! Barrie’s the laziest, slack arsed fuckwit ever to have occupied the position of Premier of NSW and courtesy of the current ICAC inquiry could yet prove to have presided over a team of which Eddie O’Beid would have been proud to be a member.

The sentiment is understandable. But here is the name above all names which fits that description perfectly. And in the case of the final point, literally.

    Bob Carr.

I even voted for him once. Fooled me too. Never ever again.

  21. Foggyfig

    WOW! Burke is a prick.

  22. johanna

Senate QT is on. The Opposition and others are trying to nail Corman about the sale of Medibank Private. He is flicking them off like bits of dandruff from a jacket.

  23. Delta A

No confidence moved against B Bishop by Burke.

  24. Mitchell Porter

I know this is not a military blog, but anyway… I’m looking at a news story about F-35s being unreliable and ever more expensive, and how Australia is expected to decide to buy almost 60 of them soon.

So I’d like to know, what is the alternative? Is there some more reasonable purchase we could be making?

  25. C.L.

    Wife-dumping Skye-Rooter attacks female Speaker.

  26. Infidel Tiger

Burke is in a full misogynistic spittle flecked rage.

  27. C.L.

And to think that Bishop’s mentally ill predecessor was never so challenged.

  28. C.L.

Pyne needs to smash Burke brutally and violently in his response.

  29. Gab

    Can’t Bishop shut him down?

  30. Grigory M

Hoo haa. Only 24 hours for Doofu? WTF? Now the Right Burke is speaking to a time-wasting motion of no-confidence in the Speaker. FFS – name him too and suspend him for the full 5 days.

  31. Aaron

I hope they remind the philandering Member for Watson that he called the speaker a ‘witch’ on her first day in the chair.

  32. C.L.

Female Labor MPs not looking impressed.

  33. Gab

Female Labor MPs are never impressive looking.

  34. Delta A

What a whiny, weedy little snot is this Burke.

  35. Gab

If you turn the noise that is Burke off and watch his head movements, he looks like a chook pecking at the ground.

  36. candy

What happens now? Are they demanding for Ms Bishop to be set aside as speaker – is that what happens?

She looks like she is going to cry.

  37. Grigory M

A planned move by the Opposition. Who knew? Just more deliberate disruption of the House. Name the prick and throw him out.

  38. nic

If Pyne is laughed at as being a ‘mincing poodle’, how come the MSM never snigger at Burke, who makes Pyne sound like Sly Stallone by comparison?

  39. Geriatric Mayfly

Humbug gone feral. However, I await one of the Emily’s Listers to rise and save the day with reason and the caring feminine touch. Macklin perhaps?

  40. Token

    Can’t Bishop shut him down?

It is time that Bishop spend some time with some crowd control experts and put in place a strategy to take control of the House.

Maybe it is time she use her position to direct what is shown on the parliamentary TV channel and suggest a comedy / bloopers reel be created showing Dolly Shorten, The Convicted Drug Dealer’s Wife & Back of Burke’s worst and most cretinous acts.

That way the rest of the world can see exactly how the children are holding the parliament in contempt.

  41. Delta A

It’s been forty years since I’ve heard a tantrum like this: my son was 3 when he delivered it.

  42. Gab

And to think that Bishop’s mentally ill predecessor was never so challenged.

becuase the Libs were too scared of being labelled misogynists.

  43. Token

What happens now? Are they demanding for Ms Bishop to be set aside as speaker – is that what happens?

She looks like she is going to cry.

If she is going to save her position she needs to put in place an action plan with organisations which react to insurgencies.

That lot learned how to act like this when they were undergraduates and are using the exact same tactics. It is time the Coalition understands this is what student activists do.

Didn’t Abbott learn anything from Ramjan and her crew in his time?

  44. Foggyfig

Will be watching to see if Destroy the Joint dames howl this down as mysogny.

  45. Aaron

Pyne is excellent. Calling out their misogyny when he see’s it.

  46. Viva

I see John Howard thinks that knights and dames are considered anachronistic even by conservatives. (see Bolt Blog). This decision for the first time gave me pause about whether Abbott is an appropriate leader for the 21st century or just a middle-aged fogey.

Abbott is way off the reservation on this one. Hopefully it’s just a one off brain fart.

  47. Token

I hope they remind the philandering Member for Watson that he called the speaker a ‘witch’ on her first day in the chair.

For some reason Liberals like the abuse, they choose not to stand up to the childish antics and attempts to bully.

  48. Foggyfig

I bet Pyne is loving being able to respond. :D

  49. twostix

And to think that Bishop’s mentally ill predecessor was never so challenged.

becuase the Libs were too scared of being labelled misogynists.

Once again we get a perfect lesson that what the Labor party is accusing you of is exactly what they will be doing in short order.

  50. Infidel Tiger

That’s it Pyne, kick that berkshire hunt Burke hard in the slats.

  51. Mr Rusty

Pyne is a frickin’ legend. Tune in now people, this is legendary.

  52. Delta A

    Go, Pyne! Brilliant comeback.

  53. Token

This decision for the first time gave me pause about whether Abbott is an appropriate leader for the 21st century or just a middle-aged fogey.

Wheel it in and stop doing the work of the left.

It was a harmless tactical move (which costs NO MONEY) to distract the cretins and distract so a campaign could not get started claiming the 18c changes are based upon racism.

  54. twostix

Didn’t Abbott learn anything from Ramjan and her crew in his time?

Perhaps he learned that the key to success on the right is to license the left to behave in their natural manner – which is as badly as possible – in the hope that the decent and civilised members of the community will turn away from them in disgust.

The optics of that weirdo burke harrasing an elderly lady are not going to play too well.

  55. Mr Rusty

Pyne now beating them with a Slipper, the Peter kind.

  56. Infidel Tiger

This decision for the first time gave me pause about whether Abbott is an appropriate leader for the 21st century or just a middle-aged fogey.

Such a tanty over some ridiculous trimmings. Your hatred of the Monarchy will see you 18c’d if you’re not careful.

  57. Delta A

Albo giving the new dentures a workout.

  58. Gab

haha compared to Pyne, Albasleazy sounds like a chipmunk on laughing gas.

  59. Foggyfig

This is Abbott’s fault – says Albo.

  60. Viva

Your hatred of the Monarchy will see you 18c’d if you’re not careful.

LOL. I am amused and interested to read about Kate and all the royal goings on – as long as it stays over there.

  61. Infidel Tiger

Albo giving the new dentures a workout.

They obviously don’t work. He’s spraying it everywhere like he’s at the end of one of his rub n’ tug sessions.

  62. Mr Rusty

Albascreechy has just burst my ear drums.

  63. C.L.

Skye-Rooter followed by Rub ‘n Tug. Senior Labor Figure looks on.

  64. Gab

Albasleazy is best listened to with the mute button on.

  65. Bruce

Maybe now Bishop will realise that allowing Labor to run riot in Question Time will never endear her to them.

  66. Aaron

I don’t think Albo’s heart was in it. He got dragged in because Burke’s sidekick Dreyfus was booted earlier.

  67. C.L.

Tactical mistake of epic proportions not to wheel out a woman to second the motion.

  68. Geriatric Mayfly

Julie Doyle the ABC talking head, must think we are stupid. We don’t need her reiterating what we have just witnessed. Nor do we need to suffer another Leftist interpretation. Just listen to her, wallowing in all of Burke’s gems.

  69. JC

I’m not up with it. Why Skye rooter? Yea, I know he blew out the family and is currently shagging some other female.

  70. C.L.

    Her name is Skye, JC.

    Yes, really.

    Skye.

  71. Gab

The Liberal bunch are quite a nice-looking lot. And then the camera pans over to the opposition…

  72. Bruce

His new root is named Skye.

  73. Viva

I notice that Tony Burke gets really emotional in his dealings with Bronnie. It’s pretty unprofessional. If you can’t stand the heat etc.

  74. Aaron

Wilkie and McGowan voting with the Government to show confidence in the Speaker. Just the Labor Party and the Greens who are opposed to conservative women in the Speakership.

  75. Bruce

The true mark of a misogynist,Burke can’t handle having to take orders from a woman

  76. candy

How can parliament be workable if all of one side has no confidence in the speaker.
What does the ALP want out of this to happen?

  77. JC

@Tony_Burke  Hey Tony, the latest squeeze is named Skye. Are you for real?

  78. Cold-Hands

Bruce, time to re-calibrate the beauty meter- unless you’re referring to this Rebecca Peters. The gun control advocate has definitely seen better days.

  79. Gab

    Albasleazy, what an idiot.

  80. Bruce

Cold Hands, I forgot the sarc tag. Yes I know,as ugly as a hat full of arseholes.

  81. Cold-Hands

How can parliament be workable if all of one side has no confidence in the speaker.
What does the ALP want out of this to happen?

Candy, they have no chance of dislodging Ms Bishop as Speaker, as a motion of no confidence will fail. This is just an attempt to interrupt Parliamentary business and disrupt the legislative agenda of the Abbott government.

  82. Gab

I’m not surprised the member for Denison did not address his question to Morrison. A pity as Morrison is excellent.

  83. JC

I have no sympathy for Bishop. She can throw the Skye rooster out any time she likes and can continue doing so for eternity.

  84. Steve D

Feeling a little threadbare around here…

  85. candy

I see, thanks, Cold-Hands. So it just goes on.
It must be a little hard on her, they’re trying to damage her reputation in front of Australia.

  86. Foggyfig

She should just chuck Burke and Albo out.

  87. Gab

LOL Albasleazy objected to Abbott calling Quentin Bryce a classy lady.

  88. Bruce

    I second Albo’s objection.

  89. dover_beach

This decision for the first time gave me pause about whether Abbott is an appropriate leader for the 21st century or just a middle-aged fogey.

Because republicanism is so 18th21st century.

  90. dover_beach

Could someone post a youtube of Pyne if and when it becomes available? Cheers.

  91. It sticks in the craw of their ABC’s reporters every time they refer to Dame Quentin. This is one reason for my support of the reintroduction of ADs and AKs.

  92. nic

Abbott is right, the only ones talking about Knighthoods are the opposition. It makes me think it was a deliberate distraction from other things such as Sinodinos, ie a bone tossed to a dog.

  93. Gab

Where’s the Twitter Assassin when you need him?

    JC

You ought to congratulate Albasleazy for demanding, in QT, that Dame Bryce has no class.

  94. Gab

    New Open, folks.

Yes but this one is so comfortable and fun just now.

  95. Token

LOL. I am amused and interested to read about Kate and all the royal goings on – as long as it stays over there.

Viva, King “I wanna be a Tampon” and his weirdo devotion to the Green AGW cult will do more to damage the cause of the monarchy than any campaigns from the left.

If I was a monarchist I would be really worried that Queen Liz does not outlive her son.

  96. Gab

    Very true, Token.

here’s to Queen Elizabeth II, loooooong may she reign.

  97. Fleeced

Yeah, hard to argue with that. Chucky is horrible.

  98. Gab

He’s a weirdo and certainly doesn’t take after his father.

  99. srr

Ah but the new thread has these well ordered points by Deadman and C.L.

The PM was asked to withdraw his statement that the Leader of the Opposition’s mother-in-law has more class (than the Hon. Bill Shorten); the PM did.

    Yes, I know.

    LOL.

Good work, Albo. Recorded for all time in Hansard: that Quentin Bryce has no class.

    The ayes have it.

  100. Gab

Recorded for all time in Hansard: that Quentin Bryce has no class.

Don;t bet on it. Hansard is a bit hit and miss these days in the accuracy department.

  101. Viva

    loooooong may she reign.

Gab that’s what I mean by avoiding a mindset of ‘dependency’ – why should we have to be concerned about the longevity or otherwise of a foreign monarch?

It’s bad enough having to worry about Clive Palmer, the Greens etc – but at least we have a vote in relation to that lot.
