Bob Carr: … I think the great mistake of the pro-Israel lobby in Melbourne is to express an extreme right-wing Israeli view rather than a more tolerant liberal Israeli view, and in addition to that, to seek to win on everything, to block the Foreign Minister of Australia through their influence with the Prime Minister’s office, from even making the most routine criticism of Israeli settlement policy using the kind of language that a Conservative Foreign secretary from the UK would use in a comparable statement at the same time.

Simply astonishing that some people think that Jews, uniquely in the world, shouldn’t be free to live where they choose. To my mind the very definition of an anti-semite is someone who would want to condemn Israeli (so-called) settlements on the West Bank.

If only there was a law to get these anti-semites to shut up. Oh wait …

    I’m not naive.

The point is any muslim, no matter how long they have been exposed to Western values is capable of doing acts of terrorism.

This is utterly naive, bigoted and below imbecilic.

    I’m not naive

If you say so; but I’m sick of your disparaging insults, so in the first instance get stuffed. As for not being naïve then all I can say is that anyone who wishes to support islam or even give it the benefit of the doubt has some weird psychology happening.

There is a distinction in islam between the fundamentalist, non-violent and the fundamentalist violent muslim. That distinction however is not predicated on education, apparent assimilation or lack of conformity to social norms. From the article:

Or, in the words of Olivier Roy, the French scholar of Islamic societies: “The process of violent radicalization has little to do with religious practice, while radical theology, as salafism, does not necessarily lead to violence.” The radicalization process, Roy notes, “is not linked with the outspoken condemnation of Western sexual liberalisation that is pervasive among conservative Muslim circles . . . AQ [al Qaeda] recruits are not specifically puritanical and often live or have lived the usual life of western teenagers.”

    And:

“The one thing that we found everywhere is that the trigger that turns someone to violence is a very personal one and is usually based on local conditions. The global environment is used to recruit these people, but it’s generally some local condition or individual event in that person’s life that turns them. It wasn’t about ideology; it wasn’t about theology; it was about identity.”

So we have the general global Islamic context which ignites a local person with no discernible characteristic to allow a conclusion about terrorism before the event.

You have your head up your arse on this topic dot; and the fact you do have your head up your arse is symptomatic of a wider malaise whereby the discussion in the West about islam is constrained by the fecal view of other people like you who also have their heads up their arses.

A couple of things; the mass of fundamentalist muslims [ a tautology but which has to said because of the head up the arse syndrome] in the West do nominally oppose the terrorists. I think the reason for that is not an opposing view about sharia because the non-violent fundamentalists also want sharia; the reason is that someone within islam with some brain cells has realised that no violence has to occur; sharia is occurring by increment; and given the birth rate of muslims is up to 10X the host population in a couple of decades sharia will occur by majority in any event.

Maybe everyone else is sick of yours.

Someone on a blog wrote that all Muslims are terrorists, it must be true.

    Absolute nonsense.

Yep, the Jundis who died fighting the largely foreign, Pakistani Taliban who wanted Afghanistan to go back to the way things were before the Taliban or USSR puppet state were sly Islamists who wanted to build a global caliphate, aided and abetted by dumb Westerners – everyone has their head up their arse except for people who say all Muslims are terrorists.

    How completely reasonable.

This is just utterly stupid. Why would the Taliban even bother having a Madrassah and support al Qaida then? They could just ask any random Muslim to blow shit up for them.

They could just ask any random Muslim to blow shit up for them.

The point is numbnuts, they don’t have to; the point was how can you tell which muslim will turn, what criteria or predictive parameters do you have? The answer is none.

The wider point is that the smarter muslims know they don’t have to blow things up; they can just breed and wait.

    Neither can you.

    Hysterical bullshit.
