Emails I receive: Divestment edition

Thanks for your reasoned article.

I think you would be interested in this video that makes a similar argument supporting continued coal investment, especially the last minute of the video

I suspect my correspondent was being sarcastic. NSFW – a bit of coarse language.

I like the policy. “Fuck you” is a great policy to have against the anti-energy zealots.

  2. Clam Chowdah

Terrible acting. Obvious from the get go. Love the beta male who dressed up as a worker for the piece. Probably a barista.

    Hey, fuck you!

  3. Gab

Fuck you to all the warming alarmist liars out there.

  4. Infidel Tiger

Fuck You! is an awesome slogan.

You want some more welfare? Fuck you!

You want me to pay higher power bills? Fuck you!

You want to make us poorer? Fuck you!

  5. JC

The gal isn’t a bad loo0ker though. Talks absolute shit, but in the end who cares, right?

  6. Infidel Tiger

Was that weird looking chick SHY’s twin sister? Same crazy eyes.

  7. JC

Was that weird looking chick SHY’s twin sister? Same crazy eyes.

I didn’t say she was beautiful, just not a bad looker. Her jaw is pretty mannish, but her eyes are nice though… almond shaped, which for a gal are about as good as it gets. She’s fine. Turn down the volume when she’s talking.

JC how much do you squat, press and deadlift

    Are your numbers alpha

  9. Aristogeiton

    Not clever. Not funny.

I’m fit enough, but it’s not the point. They could always die trying though. Okay, so you don’t succeed but at least die with some freaking dignity instead of a bullet to the back of the head. I’m talking from the point of view in that situation you know you’re going to die. My point is how is that going to happen.

  11. Kram

    “The gal isn’t a bad loo0ker though”

You need to get down to OPSM pronto.

  12. JC

rong fred. I thought you were talking about the stuff on the open fred.

You mean do i look like the bald beta? No!

Message to Developing world (the real victims of green madness) from the Greenies.

    “Fuck You”

  14. Armadillo

You need to get down to OPSM pronto.

Fuck OPSM. He needs to wash out his mouth with soapy water and apologise immediately. Christ JC, what were you thinking?

  15. manalive

I can’t see who it can be directed to.
It smacks of defeat and despair.

  16. Tel

I like the policy. “Fuck you” is a great policy to have against the anti-energy zealots.

It does seem to be the general policy of the Middle East, from everyone to everyone. From the brief time I spent in France I saw it was popular over there too, but less heartfelt.

  17. Armadillo

rong fred. I thought you were talking about the stuff on the open fred.

Ohh..fair enough then. He’s been looking at the wrong Sheila. Thank Christ for that.

  18. David

A Germanic looking sheila called Bergitt Eichmann. Perhaps fanaticism goes with the name.

  19. Turtle of WA

A better vid would show that the Environmental Movement’s real policy, of Fuck You to:

    The Developing World/Third World
Anyone without access to public transport, that is, rural people.
Birds and Bats (that fly near wind farms)
    Foresters
    Miners
    Fisherpeople
    Farmers and Stockmen
    Technological Progress
    Economic development
    Freedom
    Democracy
    and Consumers of Energy…

    Etc., etc., etc..

    Which is everyone including themselves.

  20. The message here: coal is evil and is killing the planet, and people who profit from the coal industry are immoral. The great thing about a satirical piece like this is that they don’t have to present any arguments, merely sentiments.

Their arguments are made of sand. Coal isn’t killing the planet; it won’t have any negative effect on our grandchildren. it will be good for them because as a cheap source of energy it helps us create wealth and build the world of tomorrow for them to live in.

Expensive power (such as wind power) impverish us and therefore impoverish our grandchildren. Australian electricity is horrendously expensive.

You are the reason for my expensive power bills? Fuck you.

This will be one of the monuments to the insanity of the early 21st century and the junk science that held the more idiotic and notionally “educated” parts of the population in its thrall for almost a decade — a tribute to cultures that ignored it and ploughed ahead with the elimination of world poverty, a dreadful commentary on the primitive self-hatred of the Greenfilth communist tribe that came close to destroying Western civilisation from within.

Using sarcasm cuts through only if the message is an instinctively known and widely held truth. Instead, this leaves us wondering how we ever allowed hysterical propaganda to be fed to two generations of Western school children in place of the rigorous science that established our civilisation in the first place.

  23. manalive

In a typically coherent and elegant article in Quadrant (July 26, 2009) Richard Lindzen wrote: “… and finally, there are the numerous well meaning individuals who have allowed propagandists to convince them that in accepting the alarmist view of anthropogenic climate change, they are displaying intelligence and virtue For them, their psychic welfare is at stake …”.
Don’t mock them, this video in reality is a cry for help.

  24. Chris M

Those people look mentally disturbed. Possibly on some sort of chemicals also.

  25. Eddystone

What a boring bit of undergrad attempted humour.

Who paid for this, does anyone know?

  26. Tom

When future generations try to understand how the world got carried away around the end of the 20th century by the panic over global warming, few things will amaze them more than the part played in stoking up the scare by the fiddling of official temperature data. There was already much evidence of this seven years ago, when I was writing my history of the scare, The Real Global Warming Disaster. But now another damning example has been uncovered by Steven Goddard’s US blog Real Science, showing how shamelessly manipulated has been one of the world’s most influential climate records, the graph of US surface temperature records published by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).

    RTWT

PS: Currently 5200 comments on that London Telegraph story. When will the Cat open a UK/US edition? Can’t be far away given the Doomlord’s empire-building aggression.

  27. George Brandis thanks for NOTHING

What’s rather scary is that they actually believe that burning coal will cause a hecatomb.

    They actually believe that.

My worry is that they will act on their beliefs, in direct proportion to the threat that they perceive from other people burning coal.

This idiocy is already responsible for masses of deaths in the third world. Enough is enough. What a disgrace.

  28. George Brandis thanks for NOTHING

Goddard shows how, in recent years, NOAA’s US Historical Climatology Network (USHCN) has been “adjusting” its record by replacing real temperatures with data “fabricated” by computer models. The effect of this has been to downgrade earlier temperatures and to exaggerate those from recent decades, to give the impression that the Earth has been warming up much more than is justified by the actual data.

    Well, bugger me.

    Who’da thunk it??

  29. Chris M

    The gal isn’t a bad loo0ker though.

On the turps early tonight? :)

Lets see, half Asian bottle blond with crazed sanpaku look….. nope.

  30. Elizabeth (Lizzie) B.

Not Suitable For Women? Certainly not, Doomlord. Viewing such male fools as these is very hard for a girl to bear. Those men are all out-of-work drunks grasping at any gig they can get if you take a close look at their complexions. Or is it that they are just apoplectic with climate rage and thus turning very rosy around the nostrils and jowls as the temperature rises? Lucky for them it is actually steady or falling. As for Blondie, she should stick to Dagwood. She certainly has no clue about science.

Cardboard cut-out characters and undergraduate scripting. Parody fail.

  31. Crossie

You want me to pay your HECS? F you.

  32. AP

I am actually very proud of my industry and my personal involvement in being able to bring people the things they use every day, like cars, electricity and buildings, through the tens of millions of tonnes of coal I have helped to mine.

There’s nothing more satisfying than watching a conveyor carry 3,000 tonnes per hour off the longwall face, with the shearer in full-flight and know that you helped build that mine.

I often think about the people the coal goes on to benefit: the steelworkers in Asia, the 10,000,000 per year being dragged out of rural poverty in Asian countries, the miracle of economic development that occured in Korea and Japan, or my kids who have all the conveniences of modern living and a safe and warm home, hospitals with reliable power & surgical instruments made from high carbon steel, etc.

And I can’t help but think “fuck you” to all the ignorant greenies out there who despise all of this.

  33. Gab

Well said, AP, especially the last sentence.

They ARE acting on their belief- handing out green propaganda at schools pretending to be community building, making you tubes for their religion, allowing Greenpeace tax deductability etc, ALP NOT voting out the renewables etc.

It is US that are not acting on our beliefs.

Love the Cat- education everyday. Noice word there” hecatomb” how much did you pay for that one? :)

  35. AP

Anyway, I am off to work to do a bit more f-youing.

The bloke that put up this youtube also has an organisation called Pushyourparents. To blackmail children to blackmail their parents into greenslime activity. Yeh I know, if I meantion Nazi I lose so how about Maoists who killed 20 million with those tactics? Totalitarian Communist scum.

  37. cohenite

This was satire, I thought it was real. Fuck me.

  38. Mk50 of Brisbane, Henchman to the VRWC

AP – well done that man.

As for the propaganda from the greenfilth? Banal, boring, juvenile, cheap, no argument merely emotive squealing as of ignorant pigs.

  39. Gab

    Pigs are not THAT ignorant.

  40. jupes

Using sarcasm cuts through only if the message is an instinctively known and widely held truth.

Problem is that it is a widely held ‘truth’.

Australia’s parliament – representing the view of the people – overwhelmingly believes in AGW and is at the cost of billions of dollars still enforcing policies to lower the amount of CO2 produced.

I often think about the people the coal goes on to benefit: ALL OF US, AP, that live in the real world. I rabbit on to everyone under voting age about it all the time- without coal to get electricity you wouldn’t have that car/iphone/computer/pen/pair of scissors….

Maybe we should be pushing back and saying fuck you to any green comments we hear? Can’t take me anywhere as it is but that’d be even worse. What to do?

Coal mining in moderation is commendable. But do coal mining company have to be so pushy? Do we need coal mining just because coal exists in certain places? I do not like the idea of a coal mine next door or a coal mining tunnel under me.
