  1. JC

Pickering… I kid you not.. If a level crossing is dangerous we fix it. How about domestic violence? But what would you do eggsactly?

  2. Spider

Oh fugghhh. More shame. When have you going to stop beating your wife Phillip.

  3. H B Bear

Sounds like the Plib is killing it tonight.

Is she doing her eye rolling or have the media minders got her trained better again?

  4. JC

Pickering on domestic violence. Still no answer as to what should be done. He reckons we should talk about more. What a fucking idiot.

  5. Shelley

Not only women are subject to domestic violence Tania

  6. Baldrick

The second desk wasn’t for domestic violence … It’s for AVO’s dunderhead – houso 1 takes on houso 2.

  7. Tracey

Was domestic violence the problem it is now before squadrons of social workers were appointed to keep families together at all cost?

  8. Rousie

HB, she’s being very disciplined tonight, though the strain is giving the impression of a bung eye on occasion

  9. goatjam

This is getting tedious. Uh, more tedious. Let’s all pretend that domestic violence is roughly 50/50 between the sexes. Let’s also ignore that the highest rates of domestic violence are between lesbians. Or that the lowest rates are between gays. No, it’s all about men being demonic, violent oppressors. Also “the porn” of course, Sigh

  10. Motelier

So how long before I can stick my head up.

The commentary has been good, but here I sit, strictly sober for the first Monday night since QandA started this year.

  11. JC

listen to the motherhood statements being belted out. Headmaster equates porn to domestic violence. What a babbling idiot.

  12. Sounds like the Plib is killing it tonight.
Is she doing her eye rolling or have the media minders got her trained better again?

At least she’s stopped the *grunting* she was emitting at her first post election Q&A appearance.
She was carrying on like a Scandinavian porn star. Classic episode.
But not a good look for the Plibster.

  13. H B Bear

Good one … Plibs was carrying on like a pork chop after Labor got tossed out. She is lucky Snowcone would have her back ….

  14. goatjam

“before squadrons of social workers were appointed to keep families together at all cost?”

Is that what they are for? I thought they were there to do the opposite?

  15. Nanuestalker

Anyone here paying $30-$50k pa to send a kid to King’s?

  16. Oh boy, the Headmaster is talking about boys getting hold of porn via their handphones.
Mmmm….. and he’s in charge of kids?

  17. Infidel Tiger

The Headmaster looks like an East End loan shark.

  18. Ripper

FFS , now we are into porn , A couple of stats for you , An indigenous woman is 11 times more likely to be murdered that a non indigenous woman.

  19. Tracey

Generations of men were able to handle their testosterone levels until recently. What a complete wanker this school teacher dickhead is.

  20. OzGrandPooba

I swear I just saw Flimbersek drop off…she’s totally mastered sleeping with her eyes open trick.

  21. Shelley

All of us can behave ourselves at times – that’s rich coming from the druggie’s missus

  22. JC

Sure Slov bad behavior is no excuse. So have you asked Hubbie why he was a herion importer lately?

  23. calli

Let’s face it. Boys are dangerous and can throw tractors around…and stuff.

    They need to be controlled.

    The wymminses agree.

  24. here I sit, strictly sober for the first Monday night since QandA started this year.

I’m makeing up for you Mote. I’ve a couple of nips of Glenmorangie inside me, chased by a few nips of Lagavulin.

  25. Wow, Plibster says the leading cause of death for women under 35 is “the man she loves”

  26. calli

I swear I just saw Flimbersek drop off…she’s totally mastered sleeping with her eyes open trick.

Yeah. She’s like Curly (Three Stooges)

  27. goatjam

Tanya had a 12 year plan apparently. Also, western white women are the most oppressed group of people in the entire history of humankind apparently. FMD

  28. egg_

Headmaster equates porn to domestic violence.

He might be an S&M fan?

  29. Rousie

    Asylum Seekers eleventy!

  30. Aha! AHA!!!!! … The “Refugees” question…… AHA…. I knew it…..

  31. Peter from SA

the Headmaster is talking about boys getting hold of porn via their handphones

yeah = headmaster’s excuse = all too hard for me, the fault of society (but give me a huge salary for looking after your kids all the same)

  32. Infidel Tiger

Men are 4 times more likely to be murdered than women.

Shut the fuck up, ladies. Overwhelmingly the victims of violence are men.

  33. Motelier

I’m makeing up for you Mote. I’ve a couple of nips of Glenmorangie inside me, chased by a few nips of Lagavulin.

Are you watching and drinking. That is so unlike you Steve.

    Television free tonight.

I might even borrow an online book tonight.

  34. Tracey

Sorry goatjam, I should have clarified. I was coming from the angle of at-risk kids being left with/returned to abusive parents.

  35. hz housewife

My comments are being delayed because I have a new computer.

Tania Major is correct re Naplan.

Naplan helped me decide to move my kid from one school to another, to enormous
advantage. The weakness was in the school, not the child, 12 weeks of tutoring caught
her up. Many parents do not understand that Naplan is a wonderful resource that tests
the system not the kid. Most teachers don’t get it either.
I have an employee at the moment with a kid in top 1% of the state according to Naplan.
One of the most recent questions asked for an “opinion”. This 10 yr old kid came home very upset, he cannot see how he can be marked “wrong” about an “opinion”. His mum, who left school at 16, is working through this with him ( no results yet), this kid is wanting to learn “speech giving”, because he reckons he is going to have to go before the Board of Education and argue his case re an “opinion”.

I’m not a teacher, but if I were, I would be using Naplan as a huge learning experience for my classroom especially at the year 5 level. At this age they are ready to understand averages, mean, median and mode, and understand the comparison between their own class and the data base as a whole across their state.
They might even be able to say to their school, for example, how come our school fails spelling all the time, why aren’t you teaching us better?

  36. goatjam

    “Aha! AHA!!!!! … The “Refugees” question…… AHA…. I knew it….”

Well, Ruddock was the “Minister for Refugees” so of course it was going to pop up.

  37. OzGrandPooba

Calli- I just couldnt remember who it was- its Curly ofcourse- but I was thinking Kraemer for some reason.

  38. Rousie

Watch Hipster Charlie come in for a cheap shot

  39. H B Bear

    Aha! AHA!!!!! … The “Refugees” question…… AHA…. I knew it…..

Yeah right up there with Thorpey coming out in the list of surprises. You couldn’t get odds on a Snowcone hour without boaties.

  40. Shelley

urgh, children overboard – Ruddock was prepared for it to come up though, however he was interrupted by Snowcone who then elicited applause from the usual suspects

  41. Tom

Wow, Plibster says the leading cause of death for women under 35 is “the man she loves”

Please tell me she didn’t really say that, Steve.

  42. egg_

    Male:female homelessness ratio = 10:1 Tanya, hmmm?

  43. John Comnenus

Love how Ruddock does not even acknowledge Pickering.

  44. Watch Hipster Charlie come in for a cheap shot

    He did, the metrosexual twat

  45. Rich

I would much rather the biggest risk for a woman under 35 was her man over childbirth, car accidents or cancer

What does Plib think should be the leading cause

  46. Shelley

Really trying to get a gotcha from Ruddock about Morrison as someone suggested upthread might occur (?Tom)

  47. Tracey

Charlie, who is more than likely a millionaire, spent a couple of thousand bucks on a billboard. He can now be smug in the knowledge he’s a more worthy human being than the poor bastards in western Sydney being driven from their suburbs by the wonders of multi-culti.

  48. egg_

Please tell me she didn’t really say that, Steve.

Check the transcript (“women under 45″?).

  49. OzGrandPooba

‘and I should know all about encouraging people smuggling so listen to me you idiots’ FITFY Tanya…

  50. Rousie

The Plib now lecturing the govt on the ‘logic’ of border protection policy

  51. JC

my lord the slov is a sanctimonious pig.

  52. Spider

Never mind the logic Tanya. It’s working you smug cow

  53. Rich

    Snowcone biased statement…

Sorry, holding government to account, as he did pre-election

  54. Peter from SA

    He did, the metrosexual twat

isn’t he from Channel 10? and they’re losing megabucks? …. cause and effect.

  55. goatjam

“Sorry goatjam, I should have clarified. I was coming from the angle of at-risk kids being left with/returned to abusive parents.”

Sorry Tracy, I was just making a joke (not at your expense) but with a hint of truth too. That being that those social worker scumbags have no interest in solving societies problems because that would put them out of jobs. Better to create more social problems and thus increase the demand for more social workers.

  56. Shelley

Scary to think that quite possibly Plibersek could one day be PM

  57. calli

Ruddock is far wilier than the Snowcone.

Tanya responds to sense with tired, well worn shyte. She knows it…it’s written all over her face and in her voice.

  58. caveman

Their heads explode over this boat crap who gives a fark.

  59. JC

It’s works, Slov you sanctimonious dummy.

  60. Cheryl

Tanya is on drugs. She looks completely out of it to me tonight.

  61. John Comnenus

The real reason for not providing info on country shoppers is mainly to avoid the advocacy Nazis using the courts to undermine the policy.

  62. Rousie

Where’s a ‘tragedies don’t happen” retort when you need one

  63. H B Bear

Children overboard is like Gina, Murdoch and Global Warming to Leftys. It just sets them off.

  64. egg_

the Headmaster is talking about boys getting hold of porn via their handphones

“Well endowed tractor boys throw things around” or so someone told him?

  65. Motelier

It looks like it is going to be a finish with lots of tension.

  66. Peter from SA

Some of these lefty chicks look quite pretty, I’ll give them that. If I were a lesser man I’d become a lefty to pick up chicks. I’m sure I’d not be the first …

  67. Plibster starts to lose it, over the way Ruddock-as-proxy-for-Abbott has “ruined” the relationship with Indonesia.

  68. calli

Good heavens! Was that Janey H M with that last comment?

  69. Spider

How about children dying. Is that appalling.

  70. JC

The Kings college board should fire this fuck. He’s a complete asshat.

  71. Oh Boy, the Headmaster starts to get emotional about “children behind wire”….. I’d be pulling my kids out of Kings right now fellers.

  72. Rich

    He did, the metrosexual twat

isn’t he from Channel 10? and they’re losing megabucks? …. cause and effect.

Actually, it’s one of their top shows

…kind of proves your point I guess

  73. H B Bear

Scary to think that quite possibly Plibersek could one day be PM

    Relax. Ain’t going to happen.

  74. Peter from SA

OK … here is the real thing … “kids behind the wire” THE HORROR THE HORROR

  75. Motelier

    Peter,

Please re-attend the class on wymminzzes and appearance.

  76. JC

Some of these lefty chicks look quite pretty, I’ll give them that. If I were a lesser man I’d become a lefty to pick up chicks. I’m sure I’d not be the first …

    Very few Peter.

  77. goatjam

“I just honestly think as an indiginous person blah blah blah”. FMD

  78. Tom

It looks like it is going to be a finish with lots of tension.

No, Mote. Lots of relief. A big group blowjob.

  79. Jejune “1st fleet were refugees” comment from the token aborigine.

  80. Baldrick

Magic aborigine wants Invasion Day 2.0

  81. Infidel Tiger

The Headmaster is a certifiable dumbfuck.

Thank fuck The Voice is also on or I’d be bereft of intellectual viewing tonight.

  82. Spider

Not the bloody compassion!!!! STFU. Let’s take them all.

  83. Rich

Yes we would send a Vietnamese boat person back now, Charlie

    Idiot

  84. Tracey

“How did we become so cruel?”
Well, Tanya, the payers are being overwhelmed by the number of payees, which may be a factor.

  85. goatjam

Did Pickering just say that the premier of somewhere was a boat person? I missed the detail but I’m betting he was not.

  86. calli

    They’re coming here for a reason…yep.

Pickering with the Gov of SA…the reffo pin up boy.

  87. Who is this bearded pansy? Going on about how “today we’d refuse entry to the Governor of Sout Oz”.
    FFS.

  88. Mike of Marion

    Ruddick shouted down

  89. caveman

    Pickering screeches like a girl.

  90. Shelley

    What is a HIV activist?

  91. JC

    Pickering should he deported.

  92. john constantine

remember that labor did polling, and found that plibba was ‘much loved in the settlement communities.’

  93. goatjam

    What the fuck is this?

  94. OzGrandPooba

JC- Steyn has a pretty good line about anarcho chicks who are super hot.

  95. Mike of Marion

The New Sa Gov wouldn’t have been ever here – Whitlam didn’t want the Viet Balts!!!!!!!!!!

  96. Rousie

And with a final flourish Hipster Charlie comes to the party with a be clowning of himself, making Q&A go overtime
    Well played sir

  97. Motelier

How long does this go on for.

Here I am siting on the outside and it seems to have gone on for 90 minutes.

  98. Shelley

Whitlam didn’t want the Viet Balts

Lefties conveniently forget or whitewash this bit of historical fact.

  99. Did Pickering just say that the premier of somewhere was a boat person? I missed the detail but I’m betting he was not

The New Governor of SA was a Viet Boatie in 1977, you know the ones shitlam described as ‘those vietnamese balts”

  100. JC

I thought this aboriginal dude had passed away. He sand with sang with Sting once. Too bad he couldn’t see any of it.

  101. Tracey

FFS Motelier, have a drink. You’ll feel better. Trust me.

  102. Spider

    Why so many people unkind!!!!

  103. Baldrick

Truly one of the worst Q&A ‘s

  104. Interruption roundup troops – tonight rolled in at 46

    Armadillo – come on down

  105. Peter from SA

    Peter,

Please re-attend the class on wymminzzes and appearance.

yes, sorry peoples maybe I’m a bit nuts … I could pass further comment but I’m not quite as cool as the likes of IT, … yet.

  106. goatjam

“Some of these lefty chicks look quite pretty, I’ll give them that. If I were a lesser man I’d become a lefty to pick up chicks. I’m sure I’d not be the first …’

I know I’m going to show my age here but I would point towards Janet Albrectson, Jo Nova and, yes, Julie Bishop and say phoaaar!

  107. Motelier

FFS Motelier, have a drink. You’ll feel better. Trust me.

    Tracey,

    Why…the pain has stopped now.

Just reading the comments in here has now made me certain that I did the right thing tonight.

  108. Peter from SA

Truly one of the worst Q&A ‘s

yes, alongside the old-folks Q&A quite recently. T

  109. Spider

    Thanks I’ll gave Janet too.

  110. H B Bear

Whether to watch the Snowcone Hour is never a hard decision.

  111. FFS Motelier, have a drink. You’ll feel better. Trust me.

Have a glass of a cheap & nasty rose from California – it helps.

  112. Baldrick

    Armadillo – come on down

Wait till he puts on the chaps

  113. goatjam

“The New Governor of SA was a Viet Boatie in 1977, you know the ones shitlam described as ‘those vietnamese balts”’

Ah, thanks, not the “Premier” then. I was busy typing and missed the detail. I suppose if Adam Goodes can be Australian of the Year and Barry Obama can win a Nobel Peace Prize then anything is possible.

  114. calli

Congratulations Armadillo…I can knit you some bottom warmers to go with them chaps.

Lol…the Autocorrect changed that to bottom warm ears… :)

  115. Some of these lefty chicks look quite pretty, I’ll give them that. If I were a lesser man I’d become a lefty to pick up chicks. I’m sure I’d not be the first …

Never gone that far. I’d have “shown interest” in Plibersek, until she started to broaden into her current coarse peasant build.

  116. Pecker

If TA wanted a single reason to chop the ABC then he should try a watch a replay of this dribble we paid for tonight.

  117. egg_

    Edumacation industry convention.

  118. JC

Wow what better… hang shit on leftwing idiots on a Q&A thread and Citigroup is up a $1.80 in the pre market.

  119. Tracey

Armadillo is a worthy winner of the coveted arseless chaps, I think. Will there be some sort of presentation ceremony? Do we need to look away? So many questions…

  120. I’m done Oyasumi Nasai (good night) Troops

  121. Motelier

Well I would love to see Armadillo in the chaps in the betting ring.

    Oh dear..

    Did I say that.

    My Bad

  122. Motelier

    Night Carpe

    Thanks again’

  123. Do we need to look away

Unless he has the back, sack & crack done then, yes.

  124. egg_

Will there be some sort of presentation ceremony?

    In his blue frock?

  125. Motelier

Í am off to bed as well.

I have the usual run of breakfast trays from 6:30 am tomorrow. Yay I get a sleep in of 30 minutes.

    Play safe and play hard.

  126. Baldrick

Charlie Pickering … The poor mans Adam Hills.( not that he has bragging rights)

  127. Tracey

    In his blue frock?

Onya Egg. I’d forgotten about the frock :)

  128. goatjam

Adam “I’m not a lefty” Hills is a cnut too.

  129. goatjam

What I learnt from Q+A tonight:
Black Tanya – Wants more government money
White Tanya – Is passionate about whatever is fashionable. Also, had a “12 year plan”. What an optimist
Head Master – If I had my kids in Kids College I would demand a refund.
Phillip Ruddock – Past his use-by date. May become the next Mal Fraser
Pickering – Nothing, I already knew he was an insufferable fuckwit

  130. goatjam

erm, “Kings College”, must be bed time

  131. JC

@charliepick Pickering on Q&A this evening proves again he’s an insufferable hipster fuckwit.

  132. Craig Mc

I never thought someone would make me want to punch the TV more than Will Anderson, but Charlie Pickering is the new reigning champion.

  133. Oh come on

Is the ranga chalky questioner Numbers?

Nah, too young. Surely they wouldn’t have sent a 10 year old to fight in Vietnam.

  134. Oh come on

ergh, Charlie Pickering is a clueless idiot. Trying to sound like he knows what he’s talking about.

  135. Oh come on

Pickering you fuckwit, Abbott put up a billboard to illustrate the obvious failure of ALP immigration policy. All the information was in the public domain, and the boats flooded in. Abbott came to power and put in a policy that demonstrably works. How is it hypocrisy to utilise information that’s in the public domain as a result of a failed policy, and then later replace that failed policy with a spectacularly successful programme that doesn’t allow such information to enter the public domain?

The headmaster is ostentatiously appalled by brutalising behind the wire. He wants to bring them out. I’ll bet. Kinky so and so.

  136. Oh come on

That’s right, Pickering, you fuckwit. A Vietnamese boatperson today would get sent home, and so they should. We were right to allow Vietnamese boatpeople in in the latter half of the 1970s. They were genuine refugees.

  137. Fisky

Is Pickering one of the “Chaser Boys” (average age 37 1/2)?

  138. oldsalt

OCO, the smugglers do not get their information from our media. The smugglers have more information than our media has and probably more than our Gov has.The smugglers get all the information they need from phone calls made by crew and asylum seekers in detention.

Some Ministers and senior Defence/Security spokespeople are scrutinised by foreign counterparts for body language to see if they’re telling porkies. Often they’re coached to say no comment. OSB has just taken this one step further to deny information to domestic opposition.

Morrison is a rare beast in Australian political history. He’s a puritan. Van Helsing of the waves, ref hunter general. link

  139. Oh come on

Is Pickering one of the “Chaser Boys” (average age 37 1/2)?

He’s much worse than that. He wishes he was one of the Chaser “Boys”.

  140. AndrewWA

I never watch Q&A as it has become so irrelevant to my life…..a bit like the rest of Your ABC.

However, I read this forum every week and enjoy the discussion.

  141. redcliffe redneck

Ruddock was past his use by date 10 years ago, but he still controls his branches somehow. Speaking of which I can’t wait for that site fight when he retires.

  142. feelthebern

Ruddock is a hard core mason.
    He is very anti Catholic.
If I had to punt on who leaked pre budget, I reckon his name would be up there.
I agree with whoever posted about saying that Ruddock was there not to help Tony.

  143. Helen

Armadillo, we need to see you wearing your interruption lotto prize, picture, please.

Hint, cowboys wore them over the top of their jeans, only mardi gras types wear them bareback.

  144. Helen

    Next prize?

I volunteer a riding crop. I took one with me on the plane once, as a prop for something that was happening at the other end, and the number of traveling gentlemen who wanted to strike up a conversation with me in the Qantas lounge before boarding was simply astounding.

  145. Megan

Armadillo, we need to see you wearing your interruption lotto prize, picture, please.

    Agreed.

Had to pull the pin suddenly last night – the combination of Caroline Bloody Wilson and pain from a dental complication was unbearable. Would have been bitterly disappointed to have missed this presentation…Aramdillo has been longing to win these since TLS was in charge.

  146. Alfonso

Q&A is the usual mob of twenty cent totalitarian spivs who have a plan for your life.
It’s vital my taxes subsidise none of them.

  147. Aussiepundit

I never watch Q&A as it has become so irrelevant to my life…..a bit like the rest of Your ABC.

However, I read this forum every week and enjoy the discussion.

page 1 is always unreadable with the ‘interruption lotto’ crap.

  148. mizaris

Why dignify qanda by watching it????

Wow, Plibster says the leading cause of death for women under 35 is “the man she loves”

Please tell me she didn’t really say that, Steve.

TANYA PLIBERSEK: I think hormones are an excuse, because all of us can behave ourselves when we need to in particular circumstances and then we use the hormone excuse, the alcohol excuse, whatever it is, to behave in an appalling way when we think we are going to get away with it. One in three Australian women will experience domestic violence in her lifetime, one in five will experience sexual assault. I think you need an approach that comes in two ways. The first is to have strong legal prohibitions and a legal system that works to prosecute violence when it happens, to prosecute sexual assault effectively when it happens, preferably to stop it before it happens. That’s where the other prong comes in. You have to have attitudinal change in our community and, Tim is right, that the raunch culture, the objectification of women, the dehumanising of women of course contributes to violence against women. We are fooling ourselves if we think that it doesn’t. The issue of domestic homicide, you know, for a woman under the age of 45, the single most likely thing to hurt or kill her is the man that she loves. I mean, there is something so profoundly wrong about that. But those two things, the legal response and the attitudinal response we need to do. Philip is quite right as well. The second phase of the national plan on violence against women and their children was announced last week. It is going in the right direction. I’m happy to say that, because it is the direction I established when I was the Minister for Women and part of the 12-year plan that we established at that time. But I’m concerned because there is, for example, a $44 million cut to homelessness services in the last Budget. Women have to have a place to go to take their children to be safe when they’re facing violence. I think we have made terrific improvements – terrific improvements compared with 20 or 30 years ago, when police said, “That’s just a domestic. We’re not going to attend that. That’s just a domestic. That’s none of our business.” Our police force, our courts are much better equipped than they used to be but we still have, in Australia, a prevalence of violence that is completely unacceptable.
