It’s absurd to deny jihadis act in the name of Islam

In The Australian today

“With jihadist violence continuing to escalate, the acid test of today’s national security statement will be the actions it proposes.”

Absurd, yes. Completely. Well said Henry.

But the hippies would rather look absurd than admit that their worldview is wrong.

Another example: despite the hypothesis of man-made global warming having been thoroughly discredited, they still insist that it’s happening!

Denial ain’t just a river in Egypt.

Netanyahu: If Israel Listened To The United States, It Wouldn’t Exist

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has turned his row with the White House into part of his campaign, releasing a new video Saturday night which argued that if Israel’s first prime minister had listened to the United States, the State of Israel might not exist. The new campaign ad compares Netanyahu’s upcoming, much contested speech to Congress with speeches made by Israel’s first prime minister, David Ben Gurion.

The black-and-white text reads, “In 1948, Ben-Gurion stood before a fateful moment: The creation of the State of Israel.”

The ad continues: “The U.S. secretary of state firmly objected [the establishment of Israel]. Ben-Gurion — contrary to the State Department’s position — announced the establishment of the state… Would we be here today had Ben-Gurion not done the right thing?”

The clip ends with the slogan “Only Likud. Only Netanyahu.”

Netanyahu is set to address Congress on March 3, just two weeks before Israel goes to the polls to vote for a new government. The planned address has strained ties between Israel and the U.S. amid arguments that Congressional Republicans orchestrated Netanyahu’s visit without coordinating with the White House or State Department.

Netanyahu has said that his trip to Washington is aimed at “warning” the West about a “bad deal” with Iran over its nuclear program. Netanyahu has claimed to know what the final deal with Iran will look like, telling reporters last week that it was a “bad agreement.”

Moderate Muslims don’t act in the name of Islam either.

  4. Zippy The Younger

Islamic state is “pure” islam as practiced by mohammed, who looted, killed and raped his way across the saudi peninsula.
Jihadis are fundamentalists not radicals, extremists who pervert islam.

    What ISIS Really Wants

The reality is that the Islamic State is Islamic. Very Islamic. Yes, it has attracted psychopaths and adventure seekers, drawn largely from the disaffected populations of the Middle East and Europe. But the religion preached by its most ardent followers derives from coherent and even learned interpretations of Islam.

Virtually every major decision and law promulgated by the Islamic State adheres to what it calls, in its press and pronouncements, and on its billboards, license plates, stationery, and coins, “the Prophetic methodology,” which means following the prophecy and example of Muhammad, in punctilious detail. Muslims can reject the Islamic State; nearly all do. But pretending that it isn’t actually a religious, millenarian group, with theology that must be understood to be combatted, has already led the United States to underestimate it and back foolish schemes to counter it.

Western officials would probably do best to refrain from weighing in on matters of Islamic theological debate altogether. Barack Obama himself drifted into takfiri waters when he claimed that the Islamic State was “not Islamic”—the irony being that he, as the non-Muslim son of a Muslim, may himself be classified as an apostate, and yet is now practicing takfir against Muslims. Non-Muslims’ practicing takfir elicits chuckles from jihadists (“Like a pig covered in feces giving hygiene advice to others,” one tweeted).

Let me predict a lot of feigned outrage and teeth gnashing from Islamic terrorisms biggest cheer squad – The Greens.

  6. Greigoz

Many of the Left much prefer to stay in their comfortable country of Head-in-the-sandistan, reading the Age and watching Q&A and denying there is a problem, denying that some Muslims hate the West/USA/Israel/Us and just want to kill. And even if the naughty Jihadi lads manage to blow the legs of some of our kids or grannies on a bus, well, we probably deserved it for centuries of Old White Christian Male aggression.

I used to think that these people had a lot of self-loathing, but now I know that their loathing is reserved for the populations of their own country, while they see themselves as a morally superior clique.

  7. Rabz

Yes and evidently there’ll no doubt be a whole bunch of them not acting in the name of islam here, very soon.

    More great news.

  8. Mr Rusty

I used to think that these people had a lot of self-loathing, but now I know that their loathing is reserved for the populations of their own country, while they see themselves as a morally superior clique.

That’s how they started out, hating themselves and their culture / heritage. They then morphed into the narcissistic, morally superior, smug, condescending [email protected] they are today by proclaiming that they are not or would not be “one of them” but a new progressive Master Race of superior intellect powered by compassion and feeling. It’s not that much different to the Nazi master race crap they wallowed in 80 years ago, just starting out from a different – almost diametrically opposite – point. The results will be the same though. There aren’t enough people awake to the danger of this. We can joke about soy lattes and tofu but through seizing the education system they are perpetuating an endless conga line of Borg zombie drones already teetering on the precipice of what we pass off as “mental illness”.

There are two areas around which laws relating to privacy and health (see Rabz’s link) need review: one is concerning terrorism, and the other is in mental health. The two are sometimes also linked. And it is not just for anti-terrorism operatives; families are often hamstrung in getting information of value to the welfare and intentions of the ill person.

Column – Dear Mufti, stop shielding the extremists

    Andrew Bolt FEBRUARY 23 2015 (8:22am)

I AM now begging Australia’s Grand Mufti, our highest ranking Muslim cleric: stop shielding extremists.

Mufti Ibrahim Abu Mohammed last week appeared in a video called Muslim Community Confronts Abbott, and made common cause with one of our most extreme Islamist groups.

    This is frightening.

Most journalists insist there is a difference between moderate Muslims wanting peace and the radical jihadists who are preaching hate.

But the Mufti now destroys our work by the way he defends Hizb ut-Tahrir from the anti-terrorism plans Prime Minister Tony Abbott is expected to announce in Canberra today.

Those plans are tipped to include a crackdown on Hizb ut-Tahrir — possibly a ban.

I share the Mufti’s concerns about removing its freedom to speak, but he goes further.

    (Read full article here.}

    http://blogs.news.com.au/heraldsun/andrewbolt/index.php/heraldsun/comments/column_dear_mufti_stop_shielding_the_extremists/

Most journalists insist there is a difference between moderate Muslims wanting peace and the radical jihadists who are preaching hate.

But the Mufti now destroys our work … and that’s a problem, because if so many hadn’t worked so hard to convince Australians that anyone who says they’re your friend, can’t be your enemy, they wouldn’t need to be dragged kicking and screaming now, to report the truth of what deep shit the whole world is in.

‘Thanks‘ in very large part to all that Stasiesque Work Journalists did to Terrorise normal, civil people, into suicidal self censorship, cos hey, now everyone knows that calling Mass Murdering Thugs, “Mass Murdering Thugs” is “racist” or some other sort of “ist” that will get you sacked and permanently unemployable, and worse.

Yes, by acting as a shill for Hizb ut-Tahrir the grand mufti has unwittingly exposed the dark heart of moderate Islam, which pumps blood into its conspiracy theory laden, anti-democratic, anti-Western, anti-semitic mindset. The perfect match for soft, Western Leftist hearts!

  20. rickw

What we are seeing today is a resurgence of Islam as it has historically existed.

An Islam that is well aligned with the Koran and that is stripped of its modernity.

This is ultimately the consequence of the end of the Colonial Powers presence in the ME, and the subsequent removal of their boots from Islams wretched throat.

Da privacy – yeah like da choice for people with intellectual disability — where the busy-bodies step in and remove loving families — I know of a case where a young woman who is intellectually disabled had been cared for all her life by her parents — the parents’ guardianship was removed – she now lives ‘independently’ and gives sex to strangers for a can of coke — such enhancement of respect and dignity and worth – wonderful outcome about which the parents can do nothing, absolutely nothing — it’s her human right to make choices you see, even though she cannot intellectualise, foresee or comprehend the consequences, or how compromised is her dignity.

You can bet that if it was Roman Catholics carving their way through the Middle East raping little girls and selling them off as slaves to big ugly animals and hacking the heads off any who resist, the media class here would be going completely ballistic demanding – D E M A N D I N G – that George Pell get down on his knees and grovel out endless denunciations of the depravity being unleashed.

    EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Overall, the Review has found that the judgments made by government agencies were reasonable and that the information that should have been available to decision makers was available.

So info was available but not processed properly? But that then is contradicted by first clause “judgements…reasonable”. Thus no one is to blame.
    .

Changes to laws and policies in relation to national security involve judgments about public safety and personal liberty – i.e. the risk framework within which society operates. We expect that public discussion and consultation about these judgments will continue over the coming months as further information about the circumstances of the conduct of the Martin Place siege operation becomes available.

Over to you Tony take all their rights – only opposed by David “safety not from security”
    .

The National Security Hotline received 18 calls in relation to Monis between 9 December 2014 and 12 December 2014. All of these 18 calls were complaints about the offensive nature of the content of Monis’s public Facebook page.
None of the calls related to any intentions or statements regarding a pending attack –imminent or otherwise. Importantly, these Hotline reports were all considered by ASIO, AFP and, when deemed relevant to NSW, the NSW Police Force, prior to the siege. All three agencies considered the Facebook posts contained no indications of an imminent threat. The postings were not assessed to meet the threshold for prosecution under new advocacy of terrorism’ legislation.

I wonder how many calls to the NSH in 4 days warrants a visit by someone. Obviously not 18. What about 20?
So a person has to explicitly say “I am going to blow up and kill some people” for their threats to be taken to the next step?
    .

Given his long history of provocative, attention seeking behaviour and unreliable or false claims, the Review was alert to the possibility that ASIO or the police might actually have been complacent or even dismissive about Monis. There was no evidence this was the case. Each time security or law enforcement agencies received new information, it was assessed in accordance with their policies and procedures.

“There was no evidence this was the case”, isn’t the evidence that he did it and no one was watching?
    .

Monis was assessed by ASIO in early December 2014. On the basis of the information available at the time, he fell well outside the threshold to be included in the 400 highest priority counter-terrorism investigations. He was only one of several thousand people of potential security concern.

I am beginning to feel sick – time to go to the Appendix and look for buried treasure
    .

ASIO PRIORITISATION MODEL: The Reasoned Assessment Model (RAM) was developed for the then Emergent Leads Unit in 2005-2006, in consultation with Australian academic experts, and is still used within the leads function to efficiently triage and deal with high volumes of referrals that are often single-source and uncorroborated. The RAM is designed to improve assessment outcomes by accounting for factors such as cognitive bias, and establishes a framework for making assessments based on analysis to better prioritise identification of potential threats and subsequent activity.
Using the RAM, leads assessments take into consideration aspects of the reporting such as intent and capability of the subject of the reporting, the detail provided, the plausibility of a described scenario, source access, motivation and objectivity. Analysts also consider whether reporting may be vexatious in nature, actually referring to a criminal activity or otherwise outside ASIO’s remit.

Mmmm. Yes I would blame the nameless “academic experts” too – not someone on $400k per year – “given you 20+ years of experience of watching people, what did you think/do/initiate?”
    .

In light of the significant residual risk due to the limited resources available to progress these security investigations, on 4 August 2014 the Commonwealth agreed to additional funding and a range of measures to build agency capability and capacity directed at countering terrorism. As part of this initiative, ASIO received significant funding over four years to increase the numbers of specialist officers to strengthen ASIO.

    .
I thought ASIO tripled in size after 9/11. Why take more freedoms and employ more Stasi-like policeman to watch, just watching.

The sight of poor Gerard Henderson on “Insiders” on the weekend attempting to argue the case for a hard line against Islamists while David Marr & Karen Middleton sniggered & mocked him was infuriating.

Just have a look at that obfuscating bureaucratic bullship (OBB) – they have otherwise unemployable useless public servants (OUUPS-es) sitting in comfy Canberra offices writing this garbage (G) then shuffling off to the pay office every Friday to collect their wages, whether they have done a good week’s work or nothing at all (NAA).

It was interesting that 18 people rang that hotline regarding the Minis Facebook page and nothing happened.

This raises for me a number of possibilities one of which is incitement to terrorism or more likely support for terrorism is so common that it is unremarkable.

In fact I’d be willing to bet if you were check the Facebook pages of Greens or Far Left ALP members you would probably find a considerable number who would support Hamas and even secretly ISIL if not openly but at least through soft reasoning. David Marr & Karen Middleton sniggered & mocked

Of course. The Australian left has always sniggered and mocked regarding threats to security and to peace. The left backed Hitler, backed Stalin, backed Mao, backed the Viet Cong, backed Pol Pot. There was a great piece in Quadrant (issue before last, I think) on Anne Henderson’s book about Menzies in war-time. It is required reading, along with her book. Because what the left always does is snigger and mock – that’s expected – but to the point and in such a way that they re-write history itself over against the ‘tyranny of facts.’ This they did Menzies, denounced as a “coward” by Paul Keating in relation to war leadership. (Quite an indictment from a man who reportedly refuses to cohabit with or be seen in public with his mistress). In fact, Menzies inherited armed forces close to non-existent in 1939, thanks to a pacifist and even pro-Hitler ALP, and had to make the best of a disastrous situation. What he managed to do before Curtin came to power was actually quite brilliant. So it’s easy to ping a Marr or a Middleton for their lies but it’s much harder to win the historiographical day, let alone the actual political day. It requires great aggression and communicative finesse. Abbott doesn’t have either. Morrison does. He’s the only one.

Given terrorist actions are a much more likely threat to the safety of Australians than any potential threat from a sovereign nation by sea, should Australia scale back (or drop) the $50 billion spend on subs, and channel the funds into better boarder security, better intelligence and policing services, and earlier intervention actions to reduce the likelihood of terrorism instead?

I see zero likelihood of a rogue sovereign nation attacking Australia by sea (the Chinese can buy any part of Australia they want and Russia don’t need our energy resources), so I really can’t see the point in the subs (but I’m happy to be corrected). So are the economic benefits of the subs almost zero?

Compare that to throwing just a small fraction of the subs budget towards better intelligence and compliemntary services. I know where I would rather my taxes went.

What he managed to do before Curtin came to power was actually quite brilliant.

    From the Quadrant piece:

Menzies has been painted by the left as a supporter of Chamberlain’s appeasement of Hitler. I would suggest that the Left’s control of the historical narrative has created a massive distortion of the context in which Menzies operated, both as a senior minister in the Lyons government and later as Prime Minister. Anne Henderson devastatingly documents the outright isolationism of the then Labor Opposition, led by John Curtin, in the late 1930s, and, indeed, even after the beginning of the war in September, 1939. She resurrects remarks about Nazi Germany by Curtin, which, if uttered by Menzies would have condemned the latter as outright pro-Nazi. No doubt the Left would prefer that Curtin’s inconvenient remarks be flushed down the memory hole. In a broader context, both sides of politics were eager to avoid war. The devastating losses of the First World War occupied a large place in public consciousness.

Concern about Japanese aggression was at the forefront of an assessment of Australia’s defence options by the Department of External Affairs in March, 1937. Australia’s defence capability had been effectively gutted by the Scullin Labour government during the Great Depression. After the fall of the Scullin government, the Australian Labour Party opposed all efforts to strengthen our defences until after the declaration of war.

Stephen Coughlin (22/2/15) explains how the “Nothing to do with Islam” Narrative is designed to undermine the National Security.

He has just written a book Catastrophic Failure which is essentially an epitaph for the tombstone of Civilisation.

“Narratives have been used to supplant the actual realities of the World and in some cases used to supplant LAW!”
“The Narrative becomes an apparatus used to suppress the truth in favour of narratives designed to undermine the National Security of this Country and put Americans at risk. And here’s the kicker, it doesn’t matter that 90% of the people are unaware of what they’re doing…”

True, but it’s gone way beyond incompatibility. Islam in the west is now working on the destruction of the host. Starting with it’s finances(masses on welfare and the halal scam), the media (captive to the “Islamaphobia” meme), the political class (the Leftscum are promoting the infestation of Islam in the west) and soon our institutions (just like tey have successfully accomplished in the UK- Rotherham). In addition to the “top 400? there has to be many other enablers in “their community” a trip to Syria would cost at least $4000. I dont know where these young blokes on Centrelink would be getting that kind of money

Stolen cars and whiplash claims ?

Regarding the Left sniggering and mocking I see that they are pushing the you’ve more chance of being struck by lightning than being killed by a terrorist attack meme. Now being replaced by dying from a frozen berry. yuck. yuck. yuck.

They are nothing if but topical and the masters of memes.

I for one can’t wait for Iran to get the bomb. I’m sure once they use it Obama can lecture everyone about how Western powers have used them in the past.

Let’s face it, until these guys blow up an ABC studio we’ll still be bashed around the head the with the ‘Islam is good and conservatives are all neo-Nasis’ narrative. Remember how the ABC were all the friend of the criminal and wrist slappings with guaranteed bail right up until such policies got one of their own killed. It’s the same with Islam. Like every leftist I’ve ever met they doggedly stick to their convictions…until the very first moment that it actually affects them. Same goes for Fairfax and most universities. The same group who were the first to kick Christianity off campus and the ones who now demand Halal found in cafeterias and prey rooms. I give it another 5 years before they start imposing a dress code out of ‘respect for other cultures’.

Islamics have realised that the ‘progressives’ of the left are aiding and abetting them in their efforts to undermine (convert) the West. It’s funny because the groups who will be the first to suffer their wrath are the ones who most vehemently demand we all bow to their ‘perfectly reasonable’ demands.

Until the violence of Islam personally touches enough of the social media class that they actually fear for their way of life (be it dressing how they want, sexual orientation or lifestyle) then the situation is only going to get worse.

I’m sick of seeing the segment of our society, who are despised by leftists and attacked by every leftist policy, being the only ones actually sticking their neck’s out so that leftist can continue their way of life. Stopping radical islamists is a self-defeating activity in the West. I’m willing to bet that the overwhelming majority of people who attended the ‘Je Suis Charlie’ rallies usually support things like open borders, speech regulation, the ‘Palestinian struggle’ and greater legal protections for criminals.

It takes far more than a hash tag and meme to make a free and fair society, but we now have an entire generation who don’t understand that. AND THEY VOTE.

  55. Old School Conservative

The 87th Annual Leftist-Congratulatory Awards have concluded with a significant anti-conservative meme running all through the event.
“American Sniper”, the most widely-seen of all the best picture nominees, only got a gong for editing. The ticket-buying public rated it number one but what does their opinion matter?
The racist nature of whites-only nominees was the butt of a poor joke by the host.
“Selma” won best song and the acceptance speech said that voting rights are currently being compromised.
A Mexican winner said the Government would introduce immigration restrictions to stop 3 Mexicans in a row from being winners.
Of course, the documentary showing Snowdon leaking Government secrets won its category.
An apparently inebriated Arquette spouted forth about equal pay and equal rights for women. Didn’t mention extra taxes in the name of fairness for top 0.01% earners like herself.
Glad I only had to read a wrap-up and not watch it.

    “today’s national security statement”

First I’ve heard of it but I won’t waste my time listening.

It will commence with “Some of this government’s best friends are medieval death cultists …” and conclude with an apology for tomorrow’s backlash and an undertaking there will be strident police action against ordinary Australians for marginalising lazy, smelly, big gobbed wog yoof that cannot be bothered going to school before entering their Centrelink disability pension phase – to supplement a career rebirthing Walkinshaws, importing banned steroids and beligerently snarling “What are you looking at skippy?”

A useful restriction on citizenship that might be considered would be that no application for citizenship will be considered unless the applicant has spent at least 18 consecutive months, or a cumulative total of 36 months, independent of Centrelink payments.

Then they will have proven an ability to contribute to Australia, and the application can be considered.

We would still have Tim Blair’s “bludgerhedin”, but at least they wouldn’t be (nominal) Australians.

Various governments including US state dept are not adverse to describing Islamic State as a death cult.

It’s been shown time and time that islamic state is pure islam and competes with Saudi Arabia for authenticity. The logical inference is that islam itself is really an apocalyptic death cult masquerading as a “major” religion.

One of course can question what it even means to be a moderate member of a violent death cult.
Either the “member” is ignorant, subdued by fear, unmotivated or just an outright liar. The later is what islam advises strongly to defend itself.

Mohammed has placed islam in a catch 22 situation, he cemented his authority by making islam immutable, being the perfect eternal word of god with eternal unchanging perfect laws for living, islam is not reformable. Any variation on islam is apostasy, that is to deny the eternal truth of god himself and attracts the death penalty.

There is only a single solution for the islamic ideology and those that which to execute it.

696 days till Obama is out of Office.

Remember how the ABC were all the friend of the criminal and wrist slappings with guaranteed bail right up until such policies got one of their own killed.

It was terrible but very ironic, one of the abc’s “poor and misunderstood who had a bad upbringing” devoured one of their own. It’s not supposed to happen like that, these people are only supposed to devour the nameless of the suburbs who are of no particular consequence.

Exactly the same is true for the abc’s love affair with Islam. They won’t get it until one of their own gets their head hacked off on youtube.

  60. Each time security or law enforcement agencies received new information, it was assessed in accordance with their policies and procedures.

The fact that the P&P failed should be saying that they need to be updated. So, have they? I’ll bet there is a review committee sitting somewhere, reviewing these P&P. And that nothing has changed.
It’s all about the ‘seeming’ not ‘doing’.

    Good comment Luke at 7.12pm.

  62. I’m puzzled by the definitions being used for Islam. Is it a Political Ideology, or is it a Religion? Does anyone have a decent definition?
The only one I can come up with is that Apostasy isn’t a death sentence in a religion, but it’s a very fragile definition.
    Can someone do better?
(Yes, I know a drovers dog could do better, but give it a go, all you interlectyuals.)

  63. Rabz

Is it a Political Ideology, or is it a Religion?

It is a totalitarian ideology cloaked in the guise of a religion. But then you could probably make the same observation about the Church of Climate Scientology.

I’m sure if you desperately searched through the manifesto of Charles Manson you could find enough scraps of ideas stolen from others to build a “religion of peace”.

Forgive me if this bellwether item has already been reported, but I mention on this thread for posterity.

I picked the link from Smalldeadanimals.com, who link to Mark Steyn.

Steyn also has a link to Richard Fernandez, so this one is getting some mileage in the bloggosphere.

From the Obama Praetorian Guards in the tongue bath media:

‘….consider this contribution from senior pajama boy at Vox.com, Max Fisher:’

People who think Christian sectarian militias are the solution to Iraq’s problems could stand to read a history of the Lebanese civil war.

    Got that ?

Because the Obama administration is constantly trying to steer the narrative on ‘extreme terrorism’ to individuals or groups that can be categorised under headings like ‘Christian’, ‘armed’, ‘extremist’ and/or ‘militia’ and away from the source of endless terror horrors on a daily basis,

Minorities in what were 20th century Iraq and Syria banding together to protect their communities from the most genocidal threat they have seen to date are, by definition to the tongue bath media, ‘problematic’.

And these people see their politics fully reflected in the Obama administration. The stupid – it burns.

The Obama clique has noted how quickly the Clinton’s became billionaires after they left the White House and is setting themselves up as the conduit for totalitarian barbarians to buy influence in Washington.

This is crass money grabbing from hyper partisans while they make sure they nobble the group they see as their true competitors in this vile trade (the Clinton’s and in particular Hillary’s 2016 bid).

It was interesting that 18 people rang that hotline regarding the Minis Facebook page and nothing happened.

This is why Natural Instinct is right. Now cast your eyes to the immigration department and explain why or how they could implement a “no Moslems” policy anyway.
