Queen Rania has a taste for blackmail, does she?

Obviously watched Blazing Saddles once too often.

  2. Ros

Well she is better than the Kuwaiti position which is it is too expensive for them to live in Kuwait, and anyway they are damaged by war, so have mental problems and who could be bothered fitting damaged people into your society.

    Kuwait, Syrian refugees, zero.

  3. Sydney Boy

Public opinion is moving in the direction of fewer and safer abortions.

That’s as stupid a statement as the ones I see on the GF’s Facebook page:

“Like if you are against animal cruelty”, “Like if you are against domestic violence”, etc. Seriously, 99.9% of people are against these things. Who would be “for” domestic violence? FFS.

  4. Sydney Boy

    Kuwait, Syrian refugees, zero.

    Saudi Arabia, Syrian refugees, zero.

    Bahrain, Syrian refugees, zero.

    Qatar, Syrian refugees, zero.

    UAE, Syrian refugees, zero.

  5. Sydney Boy

And let us just add to that list:

Head of the UN is South Korean Ban Ki Moon. South Korea, Syrian refugees, zero.

Head of the UNHCR is Portugese Antonio Guterres. Portugal, Syrian refugees, zero.

Multiple deaths in mass shooting on Oregon college campus

7.31 am: A student at the Umpqua Community College in Roseburg says the gunman shot her teacher and asked others in her classroom about their religion before spraying more bullets.

Eighteen-year-old Kortney Moore of Rogue River told the Roseburg News-Review newspaper that she was in a writing class on Thursday when a shot came through a window.

The gunman entered her classroom and told people to get on the ground.

Moore says the man started asking people to stand up and state their religion and then opened fire.

So I conclude from this that the yet unnamed gunman does not like a certain religion?

Police it seems are still investigating a motive.

TheirABC News 25 just spent their time with Barry Cassidy saying, black is white, white is black, bad is good, good is bad, lies are truth, truth are lies, believe us, don’t question us … there is no question about anything we We Tell You …

It was spookily like watching an intense brainwashing episode of The Prisoner.

From Gab’s link — Troy Newman:

In addition to our personal guilt in abortion, the United States government has abrogated its responsibility to properly deal with the blood-guilty. This responsibility rightly involves executing convicted murderers, including abortionists, for their crimes in order to expunge bloodguilt from the land and people. Instead, the act of abortion has been elevated to a ‘God-given right’ and the abortionists canonized as saints.

So the leftist case against Newman is fabricated and based on a lie. And the far-left Waffle Regime acts presumptively to placate the howler monkey attack dogs of the far-left Fucktard Media Industrial Complex.

Will Peter Dutton rescind Lord Waffle’s ban on Newman? Or will they let Justice Nettle hit it for six this afternoon? Life becomes complicated if you’re trying to run a police state of the left.

  9. Gab

Will Peter Dutton rescind Lord Waffle’s ban on Newman?

It will depend upon what labor MP Terri Butler tells them to do.

  10. Snoopy

Dutton has only two honourable options, reverse the ban or resign from the ministry.

Malcolm Turnbull to reset terror pitch to Muslims

Not scrolling up, as I am rushing out the door, but it begins, to whit Rifi in the OZ on Waffles being more inclusive (and possibly opening the wallet re home grown terrorism.

    Title for googlers

He believed the tone of the government was already changing for the better under Mr Turnbull. He said many Muslims had been offended when the Abbott government indicated it was more likely to accept Christians rather than Muslims in the new intake of 12,000 Syrian refugees announced last month. “It gave the impression that Syrian Muslims are not welcomed and that was another blunder by the government. Such a great announcement (to take 12,000 refugees) should have been used to strengthen the interaction between the communities (yet) it was more divisive than inclusive.”

He said a teleconference this week between Muslim community leaders and Paris Aristotle, the head of the Refugee Resettlement Advisory Council, made it clear the Syrians would be chosen on the basis of need, not religion.

  14. Ros

A good comment at the Austfalian from Warren to Shanahan.

“Another homage to the pantomime quality of Australian press.

No opinion piece can be too gooey; No fluff piece can be too fluffy. All’s Fabio has to do

is clear his throat, and he’s compared to Pavarotti.

I suppose ‘leadership honeymoon’ is an accurate assessment. Considering the

    relationship between Government and press.

With Tony Abbott the press tended to be a bit more ‘autoerotic’.”

  15. Helen

From Bruce’s round up – Abbott says giving Phil the knighthood was a mistake – wonder if Quentin will give hers up?

Apology to Fiona Roughley regarding Kathy Jackson

    Dear editor,

The Australian agreed to apologise and print this letter after publishing an article (“Inquiry delivers Jackson heads-up”, 8/9/15, p1) about my conduct when I served as junior counsel assisting the trade union royal commission in 2014.

The article purported to quote and paraphrase a commission file note recording a conversation between Ms Kathy Jackson and me. The article quoted the file note as saying that I gave Ms Jackson “advice on thinking of specific examples to use in her defence”. This was inaccurate. These words do not appear in the file note. The article said that I “coached” Ms Jackson and made “suggestions that she use her time on the stand to tackle media critics”. This was also inaccurate. I did nothing of the sort. I should have been, but was not, given the opportunity to comment.

In addition to the apology, News Limited has paid me an amount of compensation. I have donated that money to the Katrina Dawson Foundation.

It is interesting that the growing opposition to Mal is not reflected in the media. Like Numbers, believe the reverse of what the media states.

  19. Empire

Will Peter Dutton rescind Lord Waffle’s ban on Newman? Or will they let Justice Nettle hit it for six this afternoon? Life becomes complicated if you’re trying to run a police state of the left.

A police state is by definition “of the left”, unless one erroneously believes the leftist meme: Adolf was a right winger.

  20. calli

Terri Butler is extremely ambitious. She’s a Labor lawyer doncha know. Ex Maurice Blackburn no less.

    Ah ha! Quelle surprise.

Good to see Rosie Batty stepping up her frightbat act. I’m sure it will come in handy at ALP pre-selection time.

  27. Grigory M

What work did Batty do before she became an expert on everything?

    Wasn’t she a facilitator?

  28. Nic

Same, Anne. I have this feeling that something wicked this way comes.

  29. Roger

[Turnbull] said a teleconference this week between Muslim community leaders and Paris Aristotle, the head of the Refugee Resettlement Advisory Council, made it clear the Syrians would be chosen on the basis of need, not religion.

I suggest that if need is the criterion the vast majority accepted will be Christians.
Most of the displaced Syrian Muslims will be able to return to their homes or be resettled elsewhere within Syria once the civil war is resolved. It is highly unlikely the Christians will be able to do so with Assad – their only protector – gone or on the way out.

  30. Wasn’t she a facilitator?

The correct modern term, I believe, is enabler.

  31. Bruce of Newcastle

Moore says the man started asking people to stand up and state their religion and then opened fire.

Here’s what the Fox version is saying:

The shooter was lining people up and asking if they were Christian. If they said yes, then they were shot in the head. If they said no, or didn’t answer, they were shot in the legs.

    Hmm.

Yesterday, Sparkles Parker gave us a hint that he might not be the boorish oaf he appears on the surface. His passion for Chinese culture came to the fore, evidenced by his many visits to the Celestial Kingdom. “Good food, great place,” he averred. When questioned as to when or why he went there and with whom, he became vague and evasive. Strange indeed, as most travellers are only too eager to share their experiences from abroad. Sparkles, the star witness, returns to the box this morning.

Meanwhile, Turnbull is being praised by Dr Jamal Rifi for submitting to Islam.
Readers may or may not remember Jamal Rifi.
He was the man who defended those fatso brothers who went to Syria to rape babies and crucify women.

A Muslim community leader said that two of four Sydney brothers who recently left to join the Islamic State terror group are obese and doubts that they will be allowed to join the terror group on the battlefield…

Dr. Jamal Rifi, a family friend and leader in the Australian Muslim community, told 2UE news that he hopes that the physical condition of two of the brothers will disqualify them from combat and will prompt them to return home.

“We are hoping the fact that two of them they are quite obese, they are not good foot soldiers. They are over 140 kilograms and people who are going to see them are going to realize (and ask) ‘what are we going to do with them? Are they going to eat all the food and can’t even run on the field?’” he told the Australian radio station in a Monday interview.

“The mother, she’s questioning why would they go there. Two of them barely can walk; they’re very unfit, and obese,” he added.

In the interview, Rifi also said that the boys were religious, but not “hard line or radical,” calling their decision “totally out of character.”

Question for Christians: do you have any “family friends” who went overseas to rape babies and crucify women?

  43. C.L.

Let’s imagine for a moment if George Pell went on 2UE to defend four brothers – “family friends” and all Catholics – who went overseas to rape children and throw homosexuals off tall buildings.

Do you think The Australian would name him Australian of the Year?

The real future has not happened yet. This is not an entirely trite observation. The years since the fall of the Berlin Wall have been characterized by a futile attempt to buy stability through risk sharing. There was no crisis, which if sufficiently enlarged, could not be solved. Yet it failed. In an era of rapid change emergent risks can no longer be spread. Survival will depend not upon building a bigger boat but making the right choices.

This breaks politics, especially redistributive and identity politics and hence the politicians have not accepted that yet. But they will, and relatively soon. The next decade will be hard; and our only consolation will be that if we win through we will be better men and freer too. But first we survive. First we survive.

“In March 2008, senior United Nations officials travelled to Canberra to meet Prime Minister Kevin Rudd, elected three months earlier. According to The Age, the aim was to “repair relations”. Hilde Johnson, deputy director of UNICEF, stated that Rudd was showing “stronger support” for the United Nations and multilateralism than his predecessor John Howard had. During Howard’s Prime Ministership, UN high commissioner for human rights Mary Robinson had criticised Australia’s human rights record. Johnson stated that the new Australian government had “explicitly said there’s going to be a change, that the government will engage strongly and pro-actively with the UN”. For the Australian government, Bob McMullan said that his country’s “relationship with the major multi-lateral organisations has deteriorated in a manner that is quite contrary to Australia’s long-term interests and needs to be repaired”

He said he would “defer to no less a source than the new Prime Minister of Australia” as he talked about support for the public holiday.

27 Ways to Be a Modern Man

    1. When the modern man buys shoes for his spouse, he doesn’t have to ask her sister for the size. And he knows which brands run big or small.

    16. The modern man lies on the side of the bed closer to the door. If an intruder gets in, he will try to fight him off, so that his wife has a chance to get away.

    25. The modern man has no use for a gun. He doesn’t own one, and he never will.

    26. The modern man cries. He cries often.

Kevin Rudd started the habit, Julia Gillard copied him, Tony Abbott turned it into an art form, and Bill Shorten felt the need to keep up, or lose.

So far at least Malcolm Turnbull has eschewed the practice, preferring to face the media less often, but in a more mature way when he does.

    1. When the modern man buys shoes for his spouse, he doesn’t have to ask her sister for the size. And he knows which brands run big or small.”

This is the single most instructive reason to discourage admitting girlses into engineering school, designing and building things that one can rely on, like bridges which meet in the middle and stay up.

It has no discipline, no structure, no rigour.

The activity commences without warning, spontaneously, with no identifiable catalyst. The search pattern is random, wasteful. They don’t start at the front of the shop, walk to the back, return up the middle and then examine the far side. The search criteria is – well, there is none.

“I need new black shoes!” transmogrifies into bright red follow-me-home-and-buck-me strappy high, high heels, white cork soles or a pair of designer thongs which cost $89.99. Can you believe it?! Who stops and admires other peoples’ thongs? Thongs are merely thongs, they cost $12.99 at K-Mart.

Any man with a purpose in life, and self respect, observes shoe shopping as unworthy, below his dignity. Mind you, it does one no end of good to admire the end result (as one must) but not with “Gees I like those bright red follow-me-home-and-buck-me strappy high, high heels you bought. Sex on legs, I say!” The correct wording is “Nice red shoes dear.”

“25. The modern man has no use for a gun. He doesn’t own one, and he never will.

From time to time strange faces swaminto my field of vision: I remember a laborious, protracted recital by an UNRRA official of his difficulties in persuading the Chinese to eat canned peaches, but part of it was being given in Russian and some men were accompanying him on balalaikas. It suddently grew much colder and I found myself in a very dim night club, teaching an exopthalmic Hungarian girl the Cubanola glide.

And of course they will turn out in droves to vote Liberal at the next election. Not.

    Then again, neither will I.

    What’s turnbull’s favourite word, I wonder?

PRIME Minister Malcolm Turnbull says Melbourne is “eerily quiet” and lacking excitement on the first Grand Final Eve public holiday.

    Malcolm Rudd:

Mr Turnbull tweeted a photo of himself this morning at Collins St coffee shop Engels Espresso, which Mr Andrews told 3AW showed small businesses were still opening.

He said he would “defer to no less a source than the new Prime Minister of Australia” as he talked about support for the public holiday.

But Mr Turnbull had also shared photos of a quiet ride on the number 11 tram and a near-empty CBD street this morning.

“Very peaceful trip on no 11 tram — eerily quiet on a public holiday! Miss the people & excitement of grand final eve,” Mr Turnbull tweeted.

Gee, I don’t suppose that employers having to pay triple time has anything to do with it?

According to Hydra’s 12.22 pm link, the shooter was a “Republican”. Yeah sure:

The material world is a lie. For so long we have been taught that what’s important in life is to buy this and have that. To always have the latest fashion, biggest tv, fanciest car, nicest house, and blah, blah, blah. Well, the truth is we’ve become so attached to these things, our spiritual development has been halted. Just like they say in fight club “We become owned by the things we own”. Most people will spend hours standing in front of stores just to buy a new iphone. Those same people will complain about how they don’t have enough money but will always have money to spend on apple products. This attachment produces so much of the stress and worrying in the world today. I used to be like that, always concerned about what clothes I had, rather than whether or not I was happy. But not anymore. Since then I have learned the truth that such attachments are falsehoods and will only bring misery. This is my first blog post, there will be more to come.

Sounds like a communist eco-loon to me.

  177. Quire sure, C.L. The whole point, surely, of Pilate’s saying ???????? (or homo) rather than ???? (or vir) was to point to the humanity of Jesus before him; that he is a person (as opposed to gods or beasts). Unless you subscribe to the view that Pilate was merely making a comment to any nearby auditor “I say, look at this cove!”

On, the “Behold, the Man!” from Pilate:

…4Pilate came out again and said to them, “Behold, I am bringing Him out to you so that you may know that I find no guilt in Him.” 5Jesus then came out, wearing the crown of thorns and the purple robe. Pilate said to them, “Behold, the Man!” 6So when the chief priests and the officers saw Him, they cried out saying, “Crucify, crucify!” Pilate said to them, “Take Him yourselves and crucify Him, for I find no guilt in Him.”…

    That’s from John 19.

My reading, and it’s just an impression from imagining the spectacle of Jesus scourged, crowned and robed, is that Pilate meant “Just look at him!”, as in hasn’t he been punished enough already. Pilate didn’t want to be responsible and took the coward’s way out. His wife had warned him about the dream as well.

The whole episode has the underlying theme that Pilate spoke more than he knew. In the first interview, he tossed away the line “What is Truth?” Christians would say that he was face to face with Truth personified.

So, in a time honoured fence sit, both C.L. and Deadman are right.

Taking all the emotion out of it, Troy Newman hasn’t done himself , his message or his movement any real favours by advocating executions of abortion doctors (even though many feel that is a just outcome.)

The prospect of stopping the wanton slaughter of babies is far too important to allow it to become a media circus like we have now here with Newman. Inviting Newman hands the Left the perfect caricature of a rabid ‘right wing Christian extremist’ where the so important message is lost in the din of his past wild utterances. We need more ruthlessly professional voices advocating for this issue not the radicalised element that scare people away.

I don’t agree that he should be refused entry or incarcerated btw.

  225. calli

Newman wasn’t advocating executions. How could he, when states differ about the death penalty.

He identified abortion as murder and wanted the perpetrators arrested, tried and sentenced. It is an extreme stance unless you view abortion as a crime.

What his opposition here want most of all is that such a notion not be even spoken about in hushed tones, let alone openly debated.

  226. areff

So I went and saw Happy Gilmore. It is lame.

Heresy! Gilmore’s ‘happy place’ reveries, with the dwarf on the tricycle and the winsome lass in lingerie, are very close to my own.

In his transgressive invocation of lameness, Sandler articulates the discordant ephemera of a world habituated to the misdirection of the mundane and unremarkable while elevating via his artistry the resilient ennui of a proletarian class trapped in capitalism’s opiated wasteland of amusements and distractions.

“Don’t say anything! They’ll twist it and mock us!!!”.

It may not have dawned on you yet, but the only “acceptable” thing to say about abortion is that one fully endorses it up until the day the baby is born.

That’s the entire point of this action. To cement the overton window where it as at the moment: on the extreme far left of the issue. Pro abortionists such as our good Emilys List Labor MP who ordered the most libertarian government eva to ban a man from the country for Crime Thought get to freely and openly endorse, argue for and joke about killing full term babies, on their due date – by beheading them. On the other hand their opposite members are banned from the country for talking about the desire to arrest and see the killers executed.
