Sunshine conservatives

I am now not one, but two posts behind at Quadrant Online. This is from today which begins:

We know who doesn’t want Trump to win. Hillary for one, along with the Democrats in general, the 47% who have probably grown to around 55% by now, to which, strangely, you can add many if not most of the wealthiest financial institutions across the world. There is then the media, and not just the journalists and reporters but the owners who are all-in for Hillary. And there’s a large proportion of the Republican Party which must include the #NeverTrumps who are the supposedly right-side conservative writers, bloggers and columnists, but who are part of the political establishment with no obvious allegiance to small government and the preservation of the American Republic. And, of course, there are the dead citizens and non-dead non-citizens who will also be lining up to vote her in, along with those who vote early and often. Not to mention those who will vote for her because she is a woman irrespective of any other considerations whatsoever.

And then there was my post yesterday which discusses what I call “sunshine conservatives”. It is a take on Tom Paine’s opening lines in his 1776 Common Sense which was one of the sparks for the American Revolution:

“THESE are the times that try men’s souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; but he that stands by it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman.

Sunshine conservatives are those windbags who are forever wringing their hands about the problems we face but will nevertheless support Hillary in this crisis because Donald Trump lacks perfection. To them nothing is owed but contempt.

    Conservatives Inc loves to take the moral high ground by saying Trump is not a conservative. True, but he is no less conservative than John ‘open borders / amnesty’ McCain and Mitt ‘romneycare / pro abortion’ Romney.

    So their argument is just fake posturing. They really hate him because he is not establishment.

    They are willing to throw the election to Hillary, give her supreme court picks, e.t.c all so they can morally posture to please the cuckservative establishment.

    I think Mark Steyn calls them “professional folders” – the sort of “conservatives” who look for any excuse to pack up and let the Left win.

    Trump has some rough edges, but surely anyone can see that he would be better for conservative republicans to work with than the Clintons?

    Trump has revealed that many politicians on the right don’t much care for the policy ideas of their base. He should be given credit for flushing out the flakes and the fakes.

    The reason why the recent pussy tape has been so damaging for Trump, is not what was said, it was a nothing. It was the cucks jumping ship, withdrawing support, signalling furiously to their masters in the establishment.

    If such a tape came about on the Democrat side, they would circle the wagons, declare support, get their talking points ready. That’s because they know how to win, while Conservatives put fake moral posturing before winning.

    Greg Sheridan told Alan Jones today that he was disappointed that so many conservatives had fallen for Trump. Where would you even start the conversation with those two dunderheads?

    I saw Trump mimicking Jeb Bush’s comment that Trump wasn’t a conservative because he doesn’t believe in free trade – it was hilarious and spot on. Trump just ‘gets it’, unlike Sheridan.

    I think some of it comes from a good place. These are the sort of people who have as their greatest heroes the guys on the Titanic in their tuxedoes who refused to take a place on the life boats to let more women and children be saved.

    But this isn’t a competition for lifeboat manager and voters are sick of nice guys on the right finishing last.

    I think to be fair to G. Sheridan he has to be “disturbed” and “horrified” by the locker room comments otherwise he will be attacked by his circle, other journalists, and be ostracised, perhaps receive hate mail and his job be in doubt. Such is the fright of being called a misogynist.

    And as we know, Alan JOnes has an unsavoury history in regard to matters in public toilets, so he is the last one who should throw stones, to my mind.

    Having had a few evenings, late nights in the Parliamentary bar with the cream of our journalistic fraternity I can assure you Trump is only a “learner” when it comes to crudity and talking about women.

    And never forget the Hawke joke about Mrs Ghandi which lowered the bar to ground level.

    What I mean is that some of the people oposed to Trump are conservatives that hold politeness in the highest regard, and Trump is not polite.

    There’s another angle I, like most, never thought of – the social divide between, say, people who live in Manhattan, etc, and those who were born and live in the rougher ends of town like the Bronx or Queens etc – what’s called the outer boroughs effect.

    So The Donald is socially a boor and appalling to the ‘elite and while on principle should be voted for, will not because, well, (put Sir Humphrey attitude on), appalling, simply appalling.

    He is actually very polite. When he called himself a gentleman, he meant it, in his own eyes. He actually almost apologized to himself when he raised the issue of prosecuting Hillary (‘I wasn’t going to say this etc.’).
    What you mean is that Trump is not polished, has no intellectual pretensions, he is raw and old-fashioned, including in his locker room fantasies. Like many men of his era and type, he is the sort who holds open car doors for women, just as many of his male supporters do. The sophisticated dinner party sets of the left and the right just don’t get this anymore. They are all outrageously feminist obligatorily outraged and scathing of his occasionally halting diction.

    These attitudes are snobbery of the most awful type. Any substantive issues raised by Trump are lost.

    Turns out the Donald now has a full listing of those who are fair weather friends.

    Turns out that the people voting now also have that list, as do the alt-media.

    It will be interesting to see how badly that list does compared to voting patterns elsewhere.

    Could very well see Trump with a Democrat house and senate now, which would at least be an honest reflection of positions.

    The Democrats know that if you want to do something you have to win. The Republicans in Washington no longer want that responsibility but are too vile to explain it to their voters who have figured it out for themselves.

    Trump was cluey enough to work out what the people wanted and went with it. If he loses because of what the Republicans are doing the next people’s candidate may be along the lines of Philippines’ President Duterte.

    This here blog and Bolt’s and Blair’s are the few right or centr right places on the Internet. The rest are leftist so they assume that is the proportion in the general population. What they miss is that every leftie is online while right and centre right people have other interests and jobs so their opinions are not infesting the ideas marketplace to the extent of the left thoughts.

    That’s why the Brexit was a surprise as was our recent election and which may be the same in the US election next month.

    For that information we turn to FEC filings -HERE-. What do they indicate?

    On Page #118 of the September 2016 (most recent) filing we find a payment for $178,500 (screen grab above)

    On Page #92 of the same September 2016 (most recent) filing, we find another payment for $42,000 (screen grab below)

    $220,500.00 in the month of September alone paid by Hillary Clinton’s Priorities USA Super-PAC to Hart Research Associates.

    The President of Hart Research Associates, Geoff Garin, is working for Hillary Clinton’s campaign.
    NBC (S Burke) and The WSJ (Murdoch) contact Geoff Garin (Hart Research Associates) for the post-debate poll data they will use on the day following the debate.

    Hart Research Associates provides a small national poll sample (500) result, with skewed party internals, showing Hillary Clinton +11 points.

    Do you see now how “media polling” works, and why we advise to ignore it?
