Fake news and real totalitarians

How do such liars get away with it. Because they have no shame in lying right to your face and the established left – in the press, within political parties and throughout social media – are willing to fall instantaneously into line the minute the latest news narrative is stated. A low-information voter is someone whose only source of news are the large conglomerate news organisations. By definition, almost the whole of the population in any of our societies are the products of fake news. If you get your facts only from The New York Times or ABC news, you are as ignorant and possibly more ignorant than if you had not paid any attention at all to what they report.

Think of this which is right now the headline at Drudge:

FAKEBOOK TO LABEL ‘NEWS’
RISE OF TRUTH POLICE!

They label truth as fake news and will do all they can to see it suppressed. They have no shame, but the very fact that we must discuss this and work out ways to push these vile, deceitful scum away from influencing the societies in which we live, means we are losing. How many people might watch the video. Maybe half a million. Meanwhile there are tens of millions on facebook who have no ability, and often no desire, to look outside what they find there. Zuckerberg and others like him are evil people, who like the Lenins and Castros of the world, are trying to guide you to a better future which they can run for your own good, and to protect you from yourself. The big issue for us is to work out how to fight back.

You should really get news from multiple sources, make sure you at least get the basic facts out of it and make up your own mind.

MSM do not lie outright. not even close. They are biased by omission, disproportional reporting etc. This is not lying.

  3. Oh come on

    Oh for chuck steak.

Drudge is a great news aggregator – the best – and often a source in his own right. However, the constant reproduction of his headlines verbatim (and often without attribution) as if these are the pure driven snow that show What’s Really Going On Out There doesn’t lend much credibility at all to the author, particularly when that author has written a post railing against fake news. Look, Drudge very clearly has an agenda. That doesn’t mean one should ignore Drudge – quite the opposite. He has long been indispensable, is currently at the height of his powers, and only a fool would ignore his site. There is truly no one else who comes close to Drudge in the new media game. He’s in a league of his own. Since new media is in the process of slaying legacy media, the importance of Matt Drudge as a cause of. and a catalyst for, this changing of the guard simply cannot be overstated. However, from an individual perspective, Drudge’s agenda needs to be considered when drawing conclusions from one’s daily meanderings.

Rely too heavily on the Drudge-o-sphere for your information and you’ll find yourself in an echo chamber not dissimilar to that propagated by the Journolist outlets.

Boris, what you’re talking about is enormously more sinister than outright lying. You’re talking about manufacturing truth. This is the calling-card of the MSM. We saw it at its most naked and brazen last month, and it is far, far, far more pernicious and socially corrosive than the outright lying you’re talking about. It’s what makes the MSM an enemy of a liberal (in the literal sense) society. For instance, the Journolist affair – where journalists from a range of media outlets colluded to present a common narrative – was of a magnitude of seriousness that made the Jayson Blair scandal look like a typo in comparison.

I still can’t thank the abc enough for accidently admitting sudanese immigrants are ~11,000 times more likely to commit a violent crime in Melbourne than an Australian born person.

If the ABC reported 11,000 times more likely, they would have already done some “data homogenisation” on that figure. My guess is that 20,000 might be closer to the mark.

  11. King Koala

Its amazing how many people lose their reasoning faculty when one of their sacred taboos is touched on. I referred to a brilliant moment of ABC shooting themselves in the foot in an attempt to sanctimoniously preach and the equality worshippers, whose very doctrine has long ago been proved laughable long, scramble furiously to distract from the fact their religion is false even though that was not the point of my original comment.

To answer your question BorisG, I do actually believe the source of the statistics, not the ABC, and even if I did not believe those stats I would still use it as a club with which to beat leftists such as you since its not everyday your beloved Aunty hands me such a big club.

The BBC were at it again overnight. Two intensive anti-Trump beat ups.

First came World Have Your Say where they actively promoted the Russians and that “interfering in the election” story. They all laughed at the dissenter who told some home truths about Obama.

Next, Owen Bennett-Jones, a solid challenger for the Leftist Journo Award 2016 (BBC Division), did the same sort of job on that Taiwan phone call. For a whole hour! Elise Doucet and that Plett woman are paling into insignificance by comparison with OBJ.

Fake news? It’s there, in the MSM, on our ABC, all over the world. You really do have to try and get news from multiple sources and look for veracity. It’s not always outright lies, but it certainly consists of the propagators deciding what to feature and how to treat it.

  14. King Koala

    Rickw,

ABC did not report that per se. They were in such a rush to try and convince Melbournians that the evidence of their eyes was wrong and Melbourne did not have a Sudanese crime problem that they published the percentage of crime by Sudanese born and the percentage of crime by Aus born and smugly asserted that Aussies committed a higher percentage of crime. Some cunning cat realized that the Sudanese born population of Melbourne is less 1% of the population, a lot less in fact, but they were getting near to being 50% of the criminals so this cunning cat did some math. I forget the actual figure but it showed a Sudanese born person living in Melbourne was ~10,000 more likely to commit a crime. This was the complete opposite of what the abc wanted to show, hence why it is such a glorious moment for those of us who believe the truth should stand on its own merit.
Of course, the abc did not seperate second or third generation Sudanese from non Sudanese descended Australian born people. They did not look at race, only country of birth.

  16. Louis Hissink

They aren’t wilfully lying, rather it’s what they believe they think is true that is just not true. Bernard Goldberg explains this ‘Fake-News’ meme here.

The real problem is the ignorance of how humans think, because all of humanity’s divisions into sects, nations, religions, etc. ultimately are caused by the process of human thinking. Most of us know what to think, but not too many of us know why and how we think.

Being lost in one’s thoughts is tantamount to being quarantined from physical reality by an imaginal cage formed by thought; it is a metaphysical escape from reality no different to physical escapes such as drugs. The problem is becoming habituated to the thinking process, not the thinking per se.

Once habituated our brains become robotic and predictable, and we become metaphysical junkies.

  26. The real problem is the ignorance of how humans think, because all of humanity’s divisions into sects, nations, religions, etc. ultimately are caused by the process of human thinking. Most of us know what to think, but not too many of us know why and how we think.

Very few of our beliefs are rational and contemplated. Emotions are unconscious and we rationalise how and why they came about to a large degree.

It’s a function of neural networks, there is no easy way to understand what goes on in a neural network as it functions in mathematical space which is opaque to the inputs and outputs. We can correlate its function with other events and guess as to why it came out with the answer it did.

There is also a vast element of evolutionary biology which created the programs that form the basis of the emotions.

When Christine Nixon was CC of Victoria Police, two young sisters were murdered in the their Altona flat, by a maniac let out of gaol by the pathetic parole board, he was later shot dead by a very brave policeman in WA. Nixon described the murders as a ‘statistical cliche.’ Immediately after the discovery of the murders the police were not allowed to say who they were actually looking for here in Victoria as they would be seen to be putting the suspects right to innocents in jeopardy. This was the Victoria Police under Nixon, she turned it into a bloody first rate circus!

    How “Fake News” works

No record of ‘faithless elector’ Chris Suprun as a 9/11 first responder

And according to the video the last 2 place he said he worked as Paramedic do not exist

And Remember the “Respected” New York Times publisded an Op Ed from this man saying he was a first responder – they obviously did not check the “Facts” – so you obviously cannot trust NYT

DALLAS – The Republican elector who has gotten national attention for refusing to vote for Donald Trump at the Electoral College on Dec. 19 was apparently not a first responder on September 11, 2001 as he has stated for years and has a questionable career history, according to an investigation by WFAA.

Chris Suprun, 42, portrays himself as a heroic firefighter who was among the first on the scene after the third plane flew into the Pentagon on 9/11.

In a heavily-publicized editorial this month for the New York Times, Suprun stated that as a member of the Electoral College he will not cast his ballot for Trump because the president-elect “shows daily he is not qualified for the office.”

Suprun, a Dallas resident for more than a decade, even used his résumé to establish credibility in the Times piece, writing in the second paragraph: “Fifteen years ago, as a firefighter, I was part of the response to the Sept. 11 attacks against our nation.”

He has founded a nonprofit called Never Forget and state records show he is a licensed paramedic — but much of the rest of résumé, publicly available on LinkedIn, is questionable.

In addition, on at least two occasions over the last couple years at crowded Major League Baseball games, Suprun has been introduced as a 9/11 veteran before throwing out first pitches.

“He claimed to be a first responder with the Manassas Park [Virginia] Fire Department on September 11, 2001 and personally told us stories ‘I was fighting fire that day at the Pentagon.’ No, I was on a medic unit that day at the Pentagon and you make a phone call to Manassas Park and you find out that he wasn’t even employed there until October 2001,” said a first responder who knows Suprun and only agreed to speak about him if his identity was concealed.

The City of Manassas Park confirmed to WFAA that it hired Suprun on October 10, 2001, one month after the 9/11 attacks.

The fire chief there added that his department never even responded to the Pentagon or any of the 9/11 sites.

“It’s no different than stolen valor for the military; dressing up and saying ‘Hey, I earned a Purple Heart’ when you weren’t even in combat.‘ There’s a big difference between shopping at Old Navy and being a Navy SEAL,” said the first responder who knows him.

But Suprun’s résumé raises even more questions.

It shows he was, at the time this story aired on WFAA, a paramedic with Air Methods air ambulance service. But Christina Brodsly, a spokeswoman for that company, said he is not an employee there.

Suprun also claims to currently be a paramedic with Freedom EMS in Dallas. But records from the Texas Department of State Health Services indicate there’s no such company. A firm with that name used to exist in Houston, but it went out of business in 2008, according to DSHS.

Turns out, federal court records show Suprun has spent the last five years in bankruptcy while his résumé says he was working. He even collected unemployment during part of it, court records show. Suprun was just released from bankruptcy supervision this month.

He never responded to multiple emails from WFAA and calls to his telephone go to a recording which says his voicemail is full.

Two public relations firms he has hired – Megaphone Strategies and Fenton Communications – responded to our requests for an interview saying: “Suprun’s schedule is jammed packed.”

His story raises a bigger question, though. How are presidential electors chosen? And more importantly, aren’t they vetted? Unfortunately, not. They are selected in an almost informal process that each party undertakes at their state convention.

“Parties might want to ask for a little more background information, do a little bit of checking into people who would like to be members of the electoral college,” said Matthew Wilson, a political science professor at SMU.

He suggested that Suprun’s case might change things four years from now.

“I think in the future there will be a little more vetting and scrutiny given to prospective electors only because there’s been so much discussion in this cycle of the possibility of faithless electors,” continued Wilson.

If Suprun isn’t working at the places on his résumé, whose uniform is he wearing at public appearances? Manassas Park, VA said it looks similar to theirs from 12 years ago but could not positively identify it.

Texas electors meet Monday in Austin. It’s uncertain who will get Suprun’s vote. But as Suprun questions Trump’s credibility fellow first responders have doubts of their own about his.

More evidence of NYT Fake News

Tucker Carlson DESTROYS Kurt Eichenwald (Newsweek) FULL INSANE Interview 12/15/16

Watch the Video -Superb – Tucker Carlson is worth watching on Cable Fox News lights up the day

Another New York Times article by Kurt Eichenwald

    Eichenwald’s Weird Checkbook Journalism

The Editors’ Note, the reporter, and the reporter’s testimony.

Journalist Kurt Eichenwald is making news again with his Dec. 19, 2005, New York Times wowser about child pornography on the Internet (“Through His Webcam, a Boy Joins a Sordid Online World”). But this time the news is bad for the reporter and his former paper.

A Times Editors’ Note published this week explains that Eichenwald gave a $2,000 check to former child-porn performer Justin Berry, the primary subject of the big story. That’s one bad. Reporters aren’t supposed to give money to sources. But Eichenwald also didn’t tell his editors about the transaction. That’s two bads.

Three competing narratives describe the Eichenwald-Berry relationship. The first is a 1,200-word sidebar (“Making a Connection With Justin”) Eichenwald wrote to accompany his Dec. 15, 2005, investigation. In it, Eichenwald details, step by step, how an online search of financial fraud cases led him to a posting about Berry and ultimately the child-porn scoop. The sidebar describes the two hats the reporter wore as he reported the child-pornography story and rescued Berry from the trade. It doesn’t mention the check.
The second narrative is the Times Editors’ Note. It states that the $2,000 check from Eichenwald to Berry “emerged” as part of proceedings in a trial of a Michigan man accused of criminal sexual conduct involving minors. (Eichenwald, who now works for Portfolio magazine, has been called to testify in these proceedings; Berry is not a defendant.) Emerged is strangely passive language for Times editors to use. It suggests that the natural forces of erosion released the check from a bank vault and the wind blew it to New York, where it fluttered down onto a desk at W. 43rd St.

Journalist Debbie Nathan supplies the third narrative in her report from the Michigan trial for New York magazine’s Web Site. (Nathan famously rowed with Eichenwald last year after Salon published—and unpublished—a critical piece by her about Eichenwald.) According to Nathan, Eichenwald testified that he volunteered to send Berry $2,000 after reading an online post “offering Justin for sale to the highest bidder for the night.” He was concerned that Berry was underage.

Nathan writes that Eichenwald added a condition to his payment: Berry must supply his full name and address, which the young man did. Eichenwald sent the check and made arrangements to meet Berry. He did not call the cops. Upon meeting Berry in Los Angeles, Eichenwald realized the boy was not underage and introduced himself as a Times reporter. According to Nathan’s courtside report, days later Berry expressed the desire to leave the porn business. At that point Eichenwald realized that “now I’m a reporter,” and he called his Times editor about his prospective child-porn article.

Captured from Eichenwald’s testimony, this narrative holds that Eichenwald didn’t consider himself a reporter when he contacted Berry. He didn’t consider himself a reporter when he sent Berry money. He didn’t consider himself a reporter when he flew to Los Angeles to meet Berry. He didn’t consider himself a reporter even when he told Berry he worked for the New York Times. But presto chango, he was a reporter as soon as Berry decided he wanted out of porn.

Eichenwald demonstrates additional presto-chango powers in the Editors’ Note: “After they met in person, but before he decided that he wanted to write an article, Mr. Eichenwald said he told the youth that the money would have to be returned.” Read this passage without blinking your eyes, and you’ll see Eichenwald turning a $2,000 payment into a $2,000 loan. Why did Eichenwald change the terms “before he decided he wanted to write an article”? Was it because he realized that giving money to a potential source was wrong? I hope that doesn’t mean Eichenwald and the Times think it’s OK to lend potential sources money.

    THE CLINTON CRYING GAME

Hillary Clinton’s defeat by Donald Trump in the presidential election has given rise to a crisis of the republic. Rather, it has given rise to a series of crises. The video compilation below (about 90 seconds) quickly exposes us to each of the crises in turn, several times over. Here we seem to be stuck in stage 2 of the five stages of leftist grief: “The main culprits for Clinton losing, if you take a gander at cable news, are the Electoral College, Russian hacking, FBI Director James Comey, and fake news.” I’m afraid stuck-in-stage 2 represents a stubborn condition for the foreseeable future.

Interesting post on Washington Post’s Article

WAPO: ALEPPO BLOODBATH WILL INDELIBLY STAIN OBAMA’S LEGACY

The battle for Aleppo is ending in catastrophe, both for the tens of thousands of people who have been besieged there and for the future of Syria. On Wednesday, Syrian government and Iranian-led Shiite militia forces renewed attacks on the last rebel-held streets of the city, shredding a promise to allow a peaceful evacuation.

The regime of Bashar al-Assad and its Russian and Iranian allies. . . systematically destroyed hospitals, including pediatric facilities; decimated civilian housing with bunker-buster bombs and chlorine gas; and refused to allow food or humanitarian aid of any kind into the besieged districts of the city.

The Post lays considerable blame for the Syria debacle on the Obama administration:

By refusing to intervene against the Assad regime’s atrocities, or even to enforce the “red line” he declared on the use of chemical weapons, President Obama created a vacuum that was filled by Vladimir Putin and Iran’s Revolutionary Guard. As recently as October, Mr. Obama set aside options drawn up by his advisers to save Aleppo. Instead, he supported the delusional diplomacy of Secretary of State John F. Kerry, whose endless appeals to Moscow for cease-fires yielded — as Mr. Putin no doubt intended — nothing more than a humiliating display of American weakness.

On Tuesday, Mr. Obama’s U.N. ambassador, Samantha Power, delivered an impassioned denunciation of the Aleppo carnage, which she said would “join the ranks of those events in world history that define modern evil, that stain our conscience decades later.” She excoriated the Assad regime, Russia and Iran but offered no acknowledgment that the stain of Aleppo extends also to her, the president and American honor. Those who will live with the long-term consequences of the Syrian catastrophe are unlikely to be so forgiving.

The other day, Tony Abbott questioned in Parliament whether perhaps we are paying disability pensions to some people who don’t really deserve them and for whom the disability allowance was never intended – people with bad backs, or whom might just be suffering ‘a bit of depression’

An hour later, I read at news.com that Tony Abbott had claimed that anybody on welfare was probably just suffering from a bad back or a slight depression. The next minute, a protest by Jessica Rudd was being organised (incidentally, a woman no one would ever have heard of if she was forced to rely on her own talents and not her famous surname).

BorisG, this is a fake news story. Tony Abbott never said or implied what they clained he did. It’s not a massaging of facts, or sinning by omission – it was completely made up, and deliberately so.

Their tactics only work because we ACCEPT them. Bullies target the weak, the vulnerable, and those who, for reasons of apathy, impaired intellectual capacity, or otherwise, CHOOSE not to fight back. As I’ve written previously, it all begins with the language we use, both with ourselves, amongst friends (and a few weirdos) on here, and in the ‘outside’ world.
STOP tolerating the politically walking dead who claim to represent us but do nothing but spit in our mouths, by using their preferred name. Label them (as they do to us) for what they are: If you don’t like the name The Corpse Party, then think of a name that suits you, but IDENTIFY them. STOP calling The Greens by their preferred name, because almost all of us here know that Green is simply the wrapping: If you don’t like the Year Zero Party (a bit abstract and not too catchy I guess), then CHOOSE another name that seems appropriate to you (and that will be catchy to others, because we want others to share our language). Etc etc.

Linden – the case was the beltway sniper attacks, perpetrated by one John Allen Muhammad and a juvenile accomplice. Note Mark Steyn’s opening observation below, in a piece he wrote on the case:

A year ago, when Maryland’s laughably self-regarding Keystone Kop Chief Moose was bungling the Washington sniper investigation and the cable-news shows were full of endless psychological profiles of “white male loners”, a few of us columnists entertained the notion that the killer was linked to Islamist terrorism.

Interesting reading, pertinent to this thread and as usual, Steyn belts them out of the park.

The purpose of this new and current “Fake News” conspiracy is to make sure that they, the MSM, get to tell the President Trump story rather than the social media. This is how they wish to discredit Trump over the next four years (or less if they can get an impeachment) and get back into the halls of power.

  66. OldOzzie

Who is Australian Doctor, Lisa Pryor, a medical doctor, is the author, most recently, of “A Small Book About Drugs.”, who pens an Op-Ed Article like this for New York Times – the “Original FakeNews”

Dear America, Why Did You Let Us Down?

SYDNEY, Australia — On the other side of the world from you, we are living in two time zones. One regulated by the rise and fall of the sun, the other regulated by the American news cycle. In our early afternoon you go to bed, in our late evening you wake again and news breaks afresh. We examine the entrails of the tweets of your president-elect for news of our common future.

In Australia, and around the world, we have been living this presidential transition with you. We watched the debates on our lunch breaks, we scrolled through news on our phones as the voting results were announced, in the warm light of a spring day.

Since the election I have cried many times, in the shower, in the car, as the conventions that define liberal Western democracy are stripped away by Donald J. Trump, with every distressful appointment, each impulsive outburst. I have embarrassment of grief for a government that is not mine and for a country that does not belong to me. It feels as if we’re mourning the death of an idea called America.

You may not know us, the people beyond your borders, but we know you. We absorbed your politics by osmosis, across the semipermeable membrane of celluloid. We know about Air Force One from “Air Force One” and the West Wing from “The West Wing.”

If you live outside the United States, how has the election of Donald Trump changed — if at all — the perception of the United States in your country?

When I think of the political texts I know by heart, snippets of yours spring to mind — “ask not what your country can do for you”; “I have a dream”; “conceived in liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.” As a child I knew the Gettysburg Address and the Pledge of Allegiance, not because it was taught in class but because we heard them so many times in movies like “Kindergarten Cop.” America gave us a poetry of democracy that was grand and uplifting, which we were too reserved and sarcastic to speak for ourselves.

Visiting America itself gave us the sensation of having stepped into the television, into something bigger and better. For a time when I was a teenager my father worked in the coal industry in West Virginia. He would return with stories about new things we could not imagine, like cable television with 50 stations. Packed in his suitcase were running shoes for us, in styles that had not arrived here yet. That was more than 20 years ago.

Things were changing long before this election. Trips to Asia are now more likely to startle us with modernity. Bangkok, Singapore, even Mumbai have shocked me on visits over the last few decades, not just the wealth and development but also the music and fashion and public transportation.

For all the intractable problems in our region, there is a sense of forward movement. When we visit America now, it feels like the opposite, like decay. Roads, airports, an economy, perhaps even a society, falling to pieces. We are left in awe by the extreme poverty as well as the extreme wealth. And maybe it is because of your poetry about yourself that the turning current has been harder for Americans themselves to see.

The election of Mr. Trump feels like a sudden plunge after a gradual decline. Already he is goading China, befriending President Vladimir V. Putin, disregarding climate change and refusing daily intelligence briefings because he’s “a smart person.” None of this, we fear, will end well for any of us.

And here we Australians are on the edge of Asia, a small and loyal ally of the United States, with a significant and growing Asian-born population, caught between our strategic alliance with you and our economic future with China. Britain is tangled in Brexit, with neither the time nor the inclination to focus on a former colony on the other side of the world. We feel worried, lucky — and alone.

Earlier this year, Australia’s Department of Defense outlined the long-term outlook for our defense and security, emphasizing that the relationship between the United States and China will continue to be the most strategically important factor in the region. “The governments of both countries have publicly committed to a constructive relationship and it is not in the interests of either country to see an unstable international environment in which the free and open movement of trade and investment is compromised,” the department noted. That constructive relationship must now be spoken about in the past tense.

And no longer can it be assumed that Australia will always pick the United States over China, if forced to choose. When the Lowy Institute for International Policy surveyed Australians two years ago about whether the United States or China was the more important partner for our country, the United States led by 11 percentage points. This year there was a tie. The drift was more marked among Australians under 45, most of whom named China. Nearly half of the Australians surveyed said we should distance ourselves from a United States led by a president like Mr. Trump.

This distancing is already being discussed. While Australia’s right-wing politicians have taken the most literal and disheartening lesson from the election — Mr. Trump won, so be like Mr. Trump — a former prime minister of our country, Paul Keating, questioned Australia’s deference to the United States.

“This society of ours is a better society than the United States,” he said. “It’s more even, it’s more fair. We’ve had a 50 percent increase in real incomes in the last 20 years. Median America has had zero, zero.” He added, “We have universal health protection, from the cradle to the grave.”

For Australia to await a signal from the United States before thinking for itself “is a complete denial of everything we have created here,” he concluded.

This is a way of moving forward, in our own direction and with our own voice. Perhaps we could even offer you a different model of democracy, the way you once offered one to us.

Whatever happens, it will not dull my affection for the American people and the best of American culture. I was not raised in America, but I was raised in the American century. I am not yet ready to say goodbye.

Perhaps we could say “Goodbye” to Australian Doctor, Lisa Pryor, a medical doctor

I heard a few minutes of ABC radio’s Geraldine Doogue this morning. She had a couple of ‘journalists’ with her discussing the year of Trump, Brexit and the rise of Pauline Hanson’s One Nation. The Courier Mail guy finished his discussion by stating that Facebook now needed to stop allowing “fake news’. Rupert Murdoch’s publications are full of trash like this guy. What the Courier Mail should be doing is putting a front page apology to it’s readers stating something like this:

Throughout 2016 the Courier Mail’s leading political commentator Dennis Atkins emphatically stated again and again that Donald Trump would not win the US Presidential Election. The Courier Mail wants our staff to have strong opinions. However, when someone of Atkins’ position writes columns that needlessly predict events that fail to eventuate, the Courier Mail must take action to protect our integrity and community respect. Therefore Dennis Atkins will no longer be working for the Courier Mail.

Trump’s little better. He spent the entire Primary campaign rubbishing Wall St, hedge fund types, Goldman Sachs, the Republican Establishment, etc, yet on the domestic side of his appointments he’s embraced some of his country’s biggest, wealthiest and most incestuously connected ‘perps’.

    They’re all bloody liars.

Which part of your quote makes Trump a liar? Where does it say you can’t use “connected” people to drain the Washington swamp?
To be precise, Trump did NOT say he will not appoint people in the know. So you can’t claim he is a liar.
It may turn out that he is a liar if he doesn’t attempt (at the very least) to drain the swamp, but just because he appoints people who understand the swamp doesn’t make him a liar.

To counter the only other “review” which is, in fact, a political complaint about the Obama administration and implies that the author had not actually watched the film at all, I am writing this.

This is an interesting look at the life of “Barry”, who isn’t a politician and has no interest in politics at all. It looks at conflict, race, trying to fit into two worlds and not feeling like you belong in either… It’s about learning who you are in a world that isn’t sure where it thinks you belong. It was a wonderfully interesting peek into a time that helped to shape the man who would go on to be the leader of the free world.

A very good watch if you can manage to set your political affiliations aside for long enough to actually watch it.

Many of us were excited in 2008 because change was in the air, but after 8 years we realized «Barry» was doing exactly what he’s wealthy donors told him. He fails to make a impact. Did he prosecute any bankers? Did he prosecute any people who committed war crimes? He only stood up for he’s donors. In the end of his 8 years he left a completely destroyed democratic party. He’s handing over enhanced interrogation techniques, he’s handing over habeas corpus and he’s handing over a surveillance state. He was not a progressive champion. He was not the man we were waiting for. I would rather see a Bernie Sandars Biographie.

Thanks muddy but it was almost a “confirmation exercise” for me.
I have seen the MSM, in action, or lack thereof, for many years previously , especially when it comes to the outback and aboriginal affairs.
A bigger bunch of straight forward liars in the face of human misery prolonged by their lies would be hard to find.
Journalists consider themselves a breed above and kissy face each other socially in insulation and complete detachment from the integrity that would have them question themselves.
The best way to explain it, as I know I am not great with words, would be to say that an MSM journalist, is someone that asked if they would instigate a thousand deaths to win a walkley, would not even understand why the question had to be asked.
    Humans are not human.
    They are “stories.”
My efforts were not dissolved by these maggots.
It has empowered many and let the left wing know that there is only so far they can push without consequences, even here in Australia.
And no matter what the media said, the Labor party panicked, even while knowing the media would kill it for them, they weren’t quite sure.
It’s a great feeling to really bypass the bullshit and come “avisiting”.
Believe me, the left are full of shit and are cowards.
True cowards in the true sense of the word.

    Propaganda
    – dissemination of information—facts, arguments, rumours, half-truths, or lies—to influence public opinion.
    – information, ideas, or rumors deliberately spread widely to help or harm a person, group, movement, institution, nation, etc.
    – the deliberate spreading of such information, rumors, etc.

” The propagandist has a specified goal or set of goals. To achieve these he deliberately selects or invents facts, arguments, and displays of symbols and presents them in ways he thinks will have the most effect. To maximize effect, he may omit pertinent facts or distort them, and he may try to divert the attention of the reactors (the people whom he is trying to sway) from everything but his own propaganda.”

The phrase “Fake News” is merely another leftist attempt to control the topic and the message by changing the language. Making the old new and fresh again. Subtly changing the meaning to suit their goals. Impact testing to perfect it.

MSM do not lie outright. not even close.

Here’s an example fresh off the press:

    http://www.abc.net.au/news/2016-12-17/thousands-of-civilians-still-stuck-after-aleppo-evacuations-halt/8129190

There are renewed fears for thousands of people still believed to be trapped in the remaining rebel enclave in Aleppo, after evacuation convoys out of the Syrian city were yesterday suspended.

There is no “rebel enclave” remaining in Aleppo. Assad and his Russian buddies won the day, they are in full control of Aleppo. The Syrian government chose to allow rebels and their families to leave and they are waiting around for buses to evacuate them to the North.

All sides have accused each other of breaching the conditions of the ceasefire deal.

There was no “ceasefire deal” these people have been defeated, they surrendered, they are prisoners of Assad who have been promised they will be released.

SBS news actually explains why there was a hold up:

The evacuation of the last opposition-held areas of the Syrian city of Aleppo was suspended after pro-government militias demanded that wounded people should also be brought out of two Shi’ite villages being besieged by rebel fighters.

So it’s basically an exchange of prisoners, and the government is using their leverage to get something in return… totally normal in these sorts of situations.

By the way, the ABC didn’t even get the quote from Obama correct. Can’t even handle the simple job of cut-and-paste. I notice there’s no name as an author either, so we don’t know who the incompetent fool could be:

The world as we speak is united in horror at the savage assault by the Syrian regime and Russian and Iranian allies on the city of Aleppo

Other news reported the same quote saying “Syrian regime and its Russian and Iranian allies” which is a small issue, but still wrong.

I love listening to Bill Whittle. He is a man excoriated by the Left as a prime example of a Tea Party far right freak. Why? He preaches no violence, no overthrow of government, no international revolution. None of these things – perhaps instead it’s because he is not just implacably opposed to the Left’s megalomania but he has the communication skills and communication channels to tell his story and to state the facts loudly and convincingly.

He is, the Left says, also a purveyor of “fake news”. Because of course he tells the truth about the left and its ambitions. That would never do, so the Leftist in control of our society’s institutions who brook no opposition, project onto their critics the very thing that they are at their worst. Liars.

All the worlds a stage wrote Shakespeare. We are becoming more and more like a sick parody of George Orwells 1984 and Animal Farm all rolled into one real life play.

    Fake news about propaganda?
Propaganda is literally the dissemination of information about a belief (from modern Latin “congregation for propagating the faith”) – it was originally intended to be helpful to those receiving. The fake news in the above definition of propaganda lies in the cynical and oxymoronic reference to “invents facts”.
