Climate bombshell from NOAA whistle-blower. Expect more

One of the developments which I expected after the US regime change is an outburst of revelations of scandals in the Climate Industry or the Climate Industrial Complex as Alan Carlin called it, after the Military Industrial Complex which President Eisenhower identified a generation ago.

With the heel of the Obama administration lifted off the throats of the scientific community there will be much to report. The EPA is only just recently under new management and I expect that to be a major source of revelations judging from Carlin’s account in Environmentalism Gone Mad which he wrote in retirement after four decades in the organization

This one is from NOAA.

The Mail on Sunday today reveals astonishing evidence that the organisation that is the world’s leading source of climate data rushed to publish a landmark paper that exaggerated global warming and was timed to influence the historic Paris Agreement on climate change.

A high-level whistleblower has told this newspaper that America’s National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) breached its own rules on scientific integrity when it published the sensational but flawed report, aimed at making the maximum possible impact on world leaders including Barack Obama and David Cameron at the UN climate conference in Paris in 2015.

  1. The Trump admin must immediately seize all email records between these scientists. They must also give incentives to employees to come forward with information.

These so called climate scientists all know but will not say that carbon dioxide does fuckall for the climate, that water is the great modulator coupled with clouds.
More Greenhouse Gasses (water) mean lower daytime temperatures and higher night time temperatures.

Counting down to the ‘independent’ ‘non-partisan’ committee of ‘experts’ which will find that the NOAA did nothing wrong, in 5…4…3…

Here is an example of the sort of thing that NOAA has been getting up to. From yesterday:

NASA / NOAA Climate Data Is Fake Data

In the post is a graphic of the satellite measured temperature anomaly from Dec 2016. It is almost identical to the same graphic from Dec 1998 here. And it is an apples-to-apples comparison since Dec 1998 is just after the 1998 el Nino and Dec 2016 is just after the 2016 el Nino. Which isn’t a coincidence since el Ninos tend to subside in or close to the same month of the respective year due to seasonal influences.

In other words you can see with your own eyes there is basically no change in those 18 years.

If anyone wants to explore the AMSU satellite images the site where they come from is here.

    Tortured figures?
A ‘crime against humanity’, to waste National income and resources in a frivolous, false pursuit?
    Where’s Al Gore’s dunking chair?
    Where’s Richard Glover’s cattle-branding as a enemy of humanity?

The plethora of bad and fraudulent science has been happening for a long time, and has been exposed again and again. It doesn’t matter, the media ignore it because they are (were?) on the same gravy train. The issue is not debated because every journalist knows that 97% of scientists are CAGW committed, and its too complex for journalists to question “the science”.

When bad science is exposed its a trivial matter, because hey we are saving the planet, its the most important issue ever to confront humanity, and a few exaggerations are a good thing. Everybody wants to save the planet right?

  10. jupes

It doesn’t matter, the media ignore it because they are (were?) on the same gravy train.

Also let’s not forget that 97% of politicians have a stake in this bullshit.

Those bastards have been taxing us and giving our money to renewable scam artists for decades now. It is hardly likely that they will come out now and admit that “Woops! Sorry about that. We were wrong all along.”.

The best case scenario is that they will walk it back slowly and hope we don’t notice. This may even be happening as we speak. Turnbull and Frydenberg are now talking up coal. Still, it will take years and if (when?) Labor get back in they are certain to double down on the stupid.

    “Peer Review”

That’s what happens when a bunch of the I.P.C.C.’s most proficient ‘pee-ers’ stand around in a circle and irrigate one-another’s pockets.

Damn! If Gerbil Worming is off again, then it looks like I’ll have to go down to the Undertakers once more and re-book the pre-paid cremation.

I had hoped to save my hard-earned cash by just hanging around until the C.A.G.W. (Crap from Apocalyptic Gillarding Wankers) in the atmosphere reached 1,000 degrees Celsius, but those killjoys of ‘deniers’ take the fun out of everything.

  12. egg_

The best case scenario is that they will walk it back slowly and hope we don’t notice.

They were winding back the Canberra APS gravy train even under Gillard (‘there will be no Carbon Tax under a Govt I lead’).

  13. Crossie

… and its too complex for journalists to question “the science”.

How can it not be so when all journalists are 23 years old and their only qualification a communications degree majoring in diversity?

  14. Crossie

Fake news, fake science, fake politics. What isn’t fake?

When the populace becomes so disillusioned by the establishment they will elect somebody who will promise to put an end to it and they may not ask how.

  15. Paul

And I wonder what would be the standard line of defence at the trials for climate fraud of the ‘useful idiots’, like Flannery, Gore, Mann et al?
    The Nueremberg defence:
‘I know nuthink”, ” I Vas only following orDERS from our illustrious leader Barry OBummer’.

  16. Tel

Does it still count as “whistle blower” when you state the bleeding obvious?

  17. herodotus

The Mail on Sunday today reveals astonishing evidence that the organisation that is the world’s leading source of climate data rushed to publish a landmark paper that exaggerated global warming and was timed to influence the historic Paris Agreement on climate change.

For how long have the warning signs been there that the climate scare was the big climate scam?
It is without doubt the most potent warning we have had that trust is obsolete, because most of our institutions have been compromised. The corrective action may have begun in the USA, but not here. It would require drastic action and would be the “world war” of taking back those institutions.
It would not be a pretty sight – if in fact there are any who are up to the task here and elsewhere – while it is going on. But given the predominant political context, it’ll probably not happen at all, and we’ll stumble along from compromise to compromise.

  18. Tel

herodotus, a lot of those institutions are obsolete anyhow. Would it really matter if there was no one gluing together bits of temperature reading into some adjustment-city homogenized global temperature chart? Would the world be worse off without that? I don’t think so.

To the extent that weather data matters for shipping, farmers, etc. we have private groups who can handle it. Better to stop the government funding and let those people get on with it.

  19. Nerblnob

Shipping, Big Fish, offshore oil rigs etc already get their detailed weather forecasts from private organisations and have done for years.

  20. Garry

And politicians wonder why the general public despises them and expects every report or finding to be either corrupt at worst or biased at best. The world has become a filthy left wing sewer of lies and deceit!

  21. Herodotus

Tel, it’s not just the little people who don’t matter (as you put it) fiddling with the local numbers, although I fimd that whole “homogenisation” thing absolutely corrupt. It’s the media, academe, supposedly “scientific” people and institutions that are onboard with the big scam that matter. We’ve seen our politicians bludgeoned by all of the above into adjusting policy. It is a disgrace, a fraud, a matter worthy of extreme sanction at some stage.

Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire

It’s been argued for some time that some of the World Meteorological Organisation’s major partners, including the Australian Bureau of Meteorology, the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the UK’s Met Office and New Zealand’s MetService, have been adjusting their temperature data (including historical data) in ways which better support IPCC models.
One of the common procedures was “pairwise homogeneity adjustment” adjusting station temperature records to match trends in other cherry-picked stations.
A NOAA whistleblower now reveals that pairwise is really pearshaped. What about BoM, the Met, MetService, and the WMO as a whole? Have they been gathering thorns from grapes or thistles from figs?

  23. Mark M

Who? Who are these early incompetents who can’t read thermometers correctly?

    1877.
That year, Henry Russell, the long-time NSW government astronomer and part-time meteorologist, created the first weather map to be published in an Australian newspaper, running in the Sydney Morning Herald 140 years ago, this Monday. (Feb 6, 2017)

Early efforts were often led by energetic characters such as Queenslander Clement Wragge, known for his “mop of flaming red hair and explosive temper to match”.

Wragge came up with the novel idea of naming low-pressure systems that came out of the southern ocean, bringing storms and rain.

BoM: “Temperature data prior to 1910 should be used with extreme caution as many stations, prior to that date, were exposed in non-standard shelters, some of which give readings which are several degrees warmer or cooler than those measured according to post-1910 standards.”

Earlier measurements were wrong by several degrees; wrong in which direction is a matter of expert manipulation and not for the hoi-polloi to know.

Earlier measurements were wrong by several degrees; wrong in which direction is a matter of expert manipulation and not for the hoi-polloi to know.

Even contempory measurements are likely to be wrong, but it is wrong to suggest that the error is merely an offset. The real error is one both of variable offset and variable uncertainty related to the limitations of the measuring instrument and particularly to variable susceptibility to non-thermal “cross-talk” signals.
If anything, modern electrical resistance temperature devices are more susceptible to those errors than glass-enclosed mercury thermometers within radiation-convection screens.
