Free speech – lie down and forget it!

In a robust discussion on Bolt tonight, left wing Melbourne counselor and former Gillard adviser Nicholas Reece tried to equivalate left and right.  He said that some irrigators who put up an effigy of a Liberal Premier in a Murray town demo some years ago were just a bad as the thugs who, this week, attacked the police and quasi politicians like himself and who were allegedly defending “the homeless” involved in trashing the Flinders Street station.  These violent individuals, he said, totally unconvincingly, were not really leftists.

Give me a break!  No irrigator laid a finger on any politician or anyone else at the meeting he attended and at which he feigned intimidation.  The defenders of the homeless kicked and punched anyone who they thought opposed them and are a part of the extreme left who give broad support for any apologists for them like Reece.

There is an utterly contrasting set of standards for leftist protesters (92 per cent of whom live with their mums)  compared to others.  The leftists, here and in the US, can protest to prevent their opponents’ views being heard and can smash up buildings to demonstrate their earnestness.  Nobody in favour of free speech does that.

Andrew Bolt acknowledged that his own Victorian book launch in July of last year was cancelled because left wing agitators threatened to violently throttle debate and the police were not prepared or allowed to do their job of keeping the peace.

The Q Society have a meeting on Friday In Defence of Freedom of Speech, at which several  politicians are to address a private dinner.  The meeting is planned to be held in deep secrecy; not even attendees know the location.  This is not because it will discuss subversive issues or contemplate actions that might be incendiary.  The organisers dare not reveal the location because they have been told this will invite a locust swarm of leftist agitators who will beat up attendees and try to stop participation.

Left wing agitators now outrank the police in control of the streets and simpaticos like the abhorrent Nicholas Reece excuse this by inventing bogeymen of the right who would do the same.  Not only is 13C (oops! 18C) not repealed but its suppression of free speech is being augmented by a compliance by the authorities of those who would advance it even further.  Nobody expects the Dan Andrews left fascist Victorian government to unburden the yoke his supporters have placed on his opponents but there is also precious little push back from those who claim to want to see views aired in the Liberal Party

I am continually amazed by the leftist protestors, that are protesting against supposed fascism, who act just like fascists. They even dress in black. It’s a mystery.

  2. Suburbsan Boy

A modest correction: It’s section 18C, not 13C. 13C is another term for a baker’s dozen of leftists.

No. Nothing remotely fascist here. Carry on.

    It’s a dying brand.
For the left, intimidation is truth.
Just think Miaow, Tin man, Tin Pot, Mad-uro, Castrato et al.

    I watched it too.

Bolt and Rita Panahi did call Reece out on it however while they obviously won the point they didn’t go in hard enough. They should have excoriated the arsehole for defending political violence.

I was under the impression that a fascist was anyone who had an opinion which differed, no matter how remotely, from these little snowflakes.

  8. Infidel Tiger

You don’t see left wing agitators in places where the 2nd Amendment is respected.

In fact the only place you see lefties acting tough is in leftist strongholds like the inner city and universities. Anywhere else they would have their skulls crushed and their hideous women would be bound, gagged, de-loused, shaved and sent to camps.

  9. Infidel Tiger

Political violence will end very very badly for Reece. He’s a physical and moral weakling and won’t like the blowback much. He should watch his mouth.

    God I hope so.

Nicholas Reece is a chinless contrarian whose opinion is worth less than nothing. I can’t even watch him with the mute on.

I wonder why Bolt never takes him on. Last time I saw him he near cried arguing a point , fark thats when you stick the knife in deeper, but Bolt gave him a free pass?

    Irrigators?.

Comes out recently that only two thirds of the raping and pillaging of the Murray Darling basin is complete.

To hit targets, half again of the number of self employed irrigators that have already been driven from the basin have to go.

    Their left are fuckers.

  14. john constantine

Redfilth gillard put their penny wong in charge of the Murray Darling basin because of wong’s insane racism.

Nobody ever asks if the deal that Johnny Kahlbetzer, the Argentinian with the womb tingling smile, got from wong [paying with taxdollars] was a deal bad enough to make Trump hang up or not.

  15. Defender of the faith

Victoria Police have consistently refused to apply the law – even with a clear direction of a magistrate – for some years now. Their view as administrators is that “political” actions are not the place of enforcement. So we have seen a variety of actors including unions and many others undertake actions that would attract police intervention in any other case. But police refuse to act.
The question here is not so much about Reece and his posturing but the victoria police who seem to be above the law.

Alan, “equivalate” looks like a word. You might even propose it as a new word to the Oxford Dictionary. But at the moment it’s not a word. Is it “equivocate” that you were looking for?

  18. Some History

    Maybe “vacillate”?

  19. Some History

Maybe “crapolate”? That’s probably not a word either.

As someone attending the Q dinner on friday evening, it will certainly be an interesting night. The problems with security for attendees are seen as a part of the price for speaking of That Which Must Not Be Spoken, and there has been trouble in the past thanks to the ferals of Antifa and the Soc Alt.

I know people who won’t attend because they are (rightly) afraid for their safety, and even afterwards there have been occasions where get-togethers with speakers in informal situations are arranged by word of mouth only.

I have friends who will not discuss our ongoing culture wars in public, and on spacechook I know quite a few people who won’t even hit the ‘like’ button. But they will tell me to my face that they agree with criticism of islam and various leftarded positions. Like the Safe [sic] School filth.

Freedom of speech? What freedom of speech?

  21. Some History

Some excerpts from Liberal Fascism by Jonah Goldberg.

Liberal intellectuals and activists insisted during the 1920s that [Woodrow] Wilson’s war socialism had been a smashing success and its failures a result of insufficient zeal. “We planned in war” became their slogan. Alas, they couldn’t convince the yokels in the voting booths. As a result, they came more and more to admire the Bismarckian approach of top-down socialism. They also looked to Russia and Italy, where “men of action” were creating utopias with the bulldozer and the slide rule. The Marxist emphasis on scientific socialism and social engineering infected American Progressivism. And since science isn’t open to democratic debate, an arrogant literal-mindedness took over Progressivism.
It was also around this time that through a dexterous sleight of hand, Progressivism came to be renamed “liberalism.” In the past, liberalism had referred to political and economic liberty as understood by Enlightenment thinkers like John Locke and Adam Smith. For them the ultimate desideratum was maximum individual freedom under the benign protection of a minimalist state. The progressives, led by Dewey, subtly changed the meaning of this term, importing the Prussian vision of liberalism as the alleviation of material and educational poverty, and liberation from old dogmas and old faiths. For progressives liberty no longer meant freedom from tyranny, but freedom from want, freedom to be a ‘constructive’ citizen, the Rousseauian and Hegelian “freedom” of living in accord with the state and the general will. Classical liberals were now routinely called conservatives, while devotees of social control were dubbed liberals. Thus in 1938 John Dewey would write in ‘Liberalism and Social Action’ that activist government in the name of the economically disadvantaged and social reconstruction had “virtually come to define the meaning of liberal faith.”
Given this worldview, it shouldn’t be surprising that so many liberals believed the Soviet Union was the freest place on earth… (p. 221)

… The desire to destroy is a natural outgrowth of the cult of action. After all, if you are totally committed to revolutionary change, any boundaries you run into – the courts, the police, the rule of law – must be either converted, co-opted, or destroyed. All fascists are members of the cult of action. Fascism’s appeal was that it would get things done. Make the trains run on time, put people to work, get the nation on the move: these are sentiments sewn into the fiber of every fascist movement. The fascist state of mind can best be described as “Enough talk, more action!” Close the books, get out of the library, get moving. Take action! What kind of action? Direct action! Social action! Revolutionary action! Action, action, action.
Communists loved action too. That’s not surprising considering the family bonds between communism and fascism. But fascists valued action more. Communism had a playbook. Fascism had a hurry-up offense, calling its plays on the field… (p. 177)

Nicholas Reece has been given his own show which is to air on a Sunday morning after Outsiders. I keep asking myself – why, and who the hell will actually watch it.

“Nicholas Reece has been given his own show which is to air on a Sunday morning after Outsiders.”

The taxpayer leech (Melb Uni) as well as ratepayer leech (Melb Council) Reece show is on in prime time at 7 PM QLD time. His moronic show is called Politics HQ for what its worth.
I taped it last week out of curiosity and after watching for 5 minutes deleted it. Totally unwatchable.
Sent a nasty gram via Skys website at Your Say to tell them how crap it is, but nothing will happen.
Sky are hell bent on destroying its brand.
If he appears on any Sky show including the excellent Paul Murray Live, as soon as he opens his trap it is mute on.

I don’t know this Nicholas Reece.

But Reece has been damned (upthread) as “chinless”.
    To me, chins are important.
I know what a weak chin is – usually Irish.
Clefts are good. My own Poor Man has one. None finer.

I know people who won’t attend because they are (rightly) afraid for their safety, and even afterwards there have been occasions where get-togethers with speakers in informal situations are arranged by word of mouth only.

This has to stop. As the State under Comrade Hunchback will not protect citizens attending discussions/meetings of this nature the only option is a private security army to confront & beat the Antifa thugs.
Unfortunately the time for an Australian SA-type militia is here. Fight fire with fire. We need right wing ex-military men, training, tactics, discipline and commitment. We need our own flagpole weapons.
The Nationalists have to say “No More!!”
The debate club thing is finished, this is now War. We have to Win. Or we lose forever.

If you want to see the cops and the Feds swing in to action and the near entirety of the Political Class go in to hysterical meltdown about the overwhelming threat of ‘right wing extremism’ – give it a go.

For decades now – one of the key objectives of the Protected Classes has been to keep the Ordinary Folk nicely submissive. Give John Howard his due – as a lifelong politician he clearly understood that the trajectory of modern politics would likely see the Proles hoist the black flag of rebellion and start stringing up the Political Class. Hence his full court press to disarm the populace of the guns which plainly terrified him – because he knew where it would end without disarmament.

Look at john constantine’s posts about the zealous auditing of firearm owners in rural Victoria – and the loss of weapons for the smallest infraction.

The powers-that-be accept the unending existence of an underclass which frequently descends in to criminality – they figure these types will be with us forever. ( see Victoriastan ).

For whatever reasons – the system seems to largely tolerate violent left wing and anarchist gangs that are clearly organised and well drilled. They are obviously useful to somebody, because they never seem to rate a mention as a potential security threat ?

But if there is even a hint of a suggestion that the regular folk have had enough that they may take action themselves – Red Alert, Defcon One, brace for the SWAT teams to come through your front door at dawn AND be primed to assume you will offer armed resistance.

The Protected Classes fear absolutely nothing more than they fear the people they claim to act in the best interests of. Welcome to Panem.

I think you have a very good point. But it’s not just violent demonstrations where the expectation is that the left will act like extremists, but also in general political discourse. This is perfectly evident from the reaction to Donald Trump’s candidacy and election. The left have been allowed to make a case for Trump somehow being more evil than any politician has ever been. Their case is based on the flimsiest of evidence, and amounts to ‘ghe doesn’t use the same weasel words and pieties of oyther politicians so he must be Hitler.

Law enforcement can’t deal with the small minority of jihadis. We got the numbers. A well organised campaign of civil disobedience would quickly overwhelm law enforcement. Combined with credible threats to the well being of the key statists who perpetuate unconstitutional government, even the likes of Andrews would soon roll over and plead for his tummy to be tickled.
