    GM @ 8:43pm – that’s a great story.

Sir Rodan’s prowess with the fly was renowned, it’s hard to imagine him having a lean spell but it just goes to show that it happens to the best of us.

IIRC his fishing shack was called “Rohaven”. It was still there last time I ventured along that road around three or four years ago.

So then: no gun, no knife, no “others” and no deaths.
    And one brand new-looking van.
    Mmm.

And now the driver who has been drunk all day miraculously never was.

“He wasn’t ill and he wasn’t drunk, it was a terror attack,” others interjected.

Terrible stuff. There are no words.

  9. Fat Tony

With the white van incident – if they push the “terrorist” angle too strongly and it wasn’t, there is a reasonable chance that it could trigger real retribution towards the moslems.

The pressure will build up until there is the first incident that will then be followed by many others.

What I see and know …

In one of the most incredible coincidences ever, a man drops dead in Finsbury moments before a van terrorist arrives to “mow down” and “plough through” Muslims.

Because he was apparently already dead.

The van appears close to pristine despite “ploughing”, “mowing” and “crashing.”

    Witnesses say gun. No gun.
    Witnesses say knife. No knife.
    Witnesses say “others.” No others.

No phone footage of anything, except a crowd beating up a van driver.
No CCTV – even though the anti-terrorist squad probably left coffee and donuts across the street to stroll over to the scene; for this is Finsbury, headquarters of Islamic terrorism in London.

    Lots of pong here.

Not locking it in but if it turns out this bloke crashed into a bunch of Muslims loitering around a dead man and was then beaten up … I won’t be surprised.

A Muslim has attacked a police officer at Paddington Station:

Witnesses on the scene said the unidentified individual attacked an officer and shouted “foreign words” as well as the phrase “Allahu Akbar”.

Officers were called to Paddington rail station following reports of a man acting suspiciously.

The call came into police at 12.33pm today (Monday).

Officers attended the scene and one man has been arrested on suspicion of public order and for possession an offensive weapon.

The man has been taken to a place of safety.

The incident is not being treated as terror related.

    Of course it isn’t. LOL.

  40. Snoopy

Look at this map of the terrorist incident gang. Note the mosque location.

That’s interesting. On BBC this morning just after it happened a person at the scene said the ‘crash’ was much closer to the Muslim Welfare Association office than Finsbury Park Mosque and speculated that the driver may have confused the MWA for the mosque. In reality the crash is not outside either place. Indeed it happened about 100 m from the MWA and over 200 m from the mosque.

All day the police and media have known this but have maintained the fiction that it happened on the corner outside the mosque.

On Saturday night our two companions suffering from TDS (one a neighbor, the other an American rellie of Hairy’s who has been living in Melbourne for six months) were normal once we left the politics.

Tomorrow, I’m meeting up with Hairy for lunch with two old friends of the left who are still totally unreconstructed. This man’s wife and I are very happy talking houses and family stuff, because I really like her and she thinks I am good for Hairy. She is Irish and no fool. 65. Robber Baron

Can someone explain this to me…perhaps someone with a professorial intellect.

The Libs changed Abbott for Turnbull because Abbott allegedly couldn’t beat Shorten, the guy he aptly named “electricity bill” so as to make him wear the impact of carbon taxes in a simple way that everyone remembers. But the Libs chose Malcolm who is introducing a Liberal party carbon tax which will increase the price of electricity. The Libs get blamed for electricity price the increases. Electricity Bill gets off scott-free.

There is one or two more things he must do to destroy the rusted on Libs supporters. Homosexual marriage and death taxes. You just know they are coming.

Malcolm is the ultimate Labor Manchurian.

  66. Snoopy

    So try this.

An old codger keels over at the bus stop 200 m from Finsbury Mosque. People hanging around after being ranted to by jihadist preachers for a couple of hours run over to assist and gawk, spilling out onto the roadway. A clean shaven white bloke driving a white van slows to a stop………………

A clean shaven white bloke driving a white van slows to a stop………………

Given the time zone different, no -one is sober or straight, the van mounts a kerb, there is an accident, the other two guys leg it, and the driver faces the music.

  70. But the Libs chose Malcolm who is introducing a Liberal party carbon tax which will increase the price of electricity.

    Just to clear matters up:

Turdbull inherited a Liberal Party carbon tax and is simply overseeing the work started by Howard in 2007, and expanded on by KRudd, Gillard, and then fulfilled by Abbott, in September 2015.

  78. twostix

What I want to see, is the media rushing to the aid of the Finsbury Mosque.

That’s the only reason M0nty is holding back.

Al Qaeda operatives including “shoebomber” Richard Reid and Zacarias Moussaoui attended the mosque.

In 2002, The Guardian reported that weapons training had taken place inside the building.

The mosque rose to notoriety after Abu Hamza al-Masri became Imam of the Mosque, due to his extremist ideologies and views on terrorism.

However, in 2003 the Mosque was raided by the Police and shut down.

According to classified American documents, released by Wikileaks, Finsbury Park mosque previously served “as a haven” for Islamic extremists who subsequently fought against allied forces in Afghanistan.

They’re weighing up if they can get away with siding with ISIS in London.

They haven’t decided if it’s a bridge too far yet or not. Which is why they’re “holding back”, for this moment.

Germany: Police Powerless Against Middle Eastern Crime Gangs
“The clans simply have no respect for the authorities.”

A court in Hanover has handed suspended sentences to six members of a Kurdish clan who seriously wounded two dozen police officers during a violent rampage in Hameln. The court’s ruling was greeted with anger and derision by police who said it is yet another example of the laxity of Germany’s politically correct judicial system.

The case goes back to January 2014, when a 26-year-old clan member, arrested for robbery, tried to escape from the magistrate’s office by jumping out of a seventh-floor courtroom window. The suspect was taken to the hospital, where he died. Members of his clan subsequently ransacked the hospital, as well as the court, and attacked police with rocks and other projectiles; 24 police officers and six paramedics were injured.

The judge said he was lenient because the defendants witnessed the death of the 26-year-old and were traumatized. The judge also revealed that he had reached a deal with the clan, which among other effects prevented police from testifying in court.

Dietmar Schilff, chairman of the GdP police union in Lower Saxony, said that the ruling had left many police officers shaking their heads in disbelief: “All police forces expect protection and support from the state.” He added:

“If we want to protect those who ensure public security, it must be clear that anyone who attacks police officers attacks the state — and has to fear appropriate consequences. It does not matter from which milieu the perpetrators come.”

Observers have surmised that the real reason for the judge’s leniency was that he feared his family might be subjected to retribution from the clan.

Middle Eastern crime syndicates have established themselves across Germany, where they engage in racketeering, extortion, money laundering, pimping and trafficking in humans, weapons and drugs.

The syndicates, which are run by large clans with origins in Lebanon, Turkey, Syria, among other places, operate with virtual impunity because German judges and prosecutors are unable or unwilling to stop them.

The clans — some of which migrated to Germany during Lebanon’s 1975-1990 civil war and have grown to thousands of members — now control large swathes of German cities and towns — areas that are effectively lawless and which German police increasingly fear to approach.

Ralph Ghadban, a Lebanese-German political scientist and a leading expert on Middle Eastern clans in Germany, said that the Hanover ruling was a massive failure of the German judicial system. He added that the only way for Germany to achieve control over the clans is to destroy them:

“In their concept of masculinity, only power and force matter; if someone is humane and civil, this is considered a weakness. In clan structures, in tribal culture everywhere in the world, ethics are confined to the clan itself. Everything outside the clan is enemy territory.”

In an interview with Focus, Ghadban elaborated:

“I have been following this trend for years. The clans now feel so strong that they are attacking the authority of the state and the police. They have nothing but contempt for the judiciary…. The main problem in dealing with clans: state institutions give no resistance. This makes the families more and more aggressive — they simply have no respect for the authorities….

“The state must destroy the clan structures. Strong and well-trained police officers must be respected on the street. It is a poor example if clan members are allowed seriously to injure 24 policemen and six others without having to fear real consequences. In addition, lawyers and judges must be trained. The courts are issuing feeble judgments based on a false understanding of multiculturalism and the fear of the stigma of being branded as racist….

“The clans adhere to a religious group, a kind of sect with an Islamic orientation. The Islamic understanding of their spiritual leader, Sheikh al-Habashi, who died a few years ago, justifies violence against unbelievers. He taught that there is only the house of war [Dar al-Harb], which justifies plundering unbelievers and possessing their wives….”

Germany: Police Powerless Against Middle Eastern Crime Gangs
“The clans simply have no respect for the authorities.” Part 2

In Berlin, a dozen or more Lebanese clans dominate organized crime in the German capital, according to Die Welt. They effectively control the districts of Charlottenburg, Kreuzberg, Moabit, Neukölln and Wedding. The clans are committed to counterfeiting, dealing in drugs, robbing banks and burglarizing department stores. Experts estimate that around 9,000 people in Berlin are members of clans.

The clans reject the authority of the German state. Instead, they run a “parallel justice system” in which disputes are resolved among themselves with mediators from other crime families. A classified police report leaked to Bild described how the clans use cash payments and threats of violence to influence witnesses whenever German police or prosecutors get involved.

The clans are now canvassing refugee shelters in search of young and physically strong men to join their ranks. State Prosecutor Sjors Kamstra explained:

“The refugees come here with no money. They are shown how inexpensive money can be obtained very quickly. Poverty makes this seductive. Many of them cannot speak German and are naturally vulnerable when they are addressed by someone in their native language. For the clans, the refugees are welcome newcomers, because they are new here and are not known to the police.”

The clans have also entered the refugee business by buying real estate and renting those properties to asylum seekers at exorbitant prices. Focus magazine reported that they are laundering dirty money while at the same time getting paid by the German state to house migrants.

Focus reporters visited a dilapidated apartment in Berlin in which five Syrian refugees were accommodated in 20 square meters (215 square feet). On the regular rental market the apartment would barely have yielded €300 ($335) a month in rent, but the clan collects around €3,700 ($4,125) per month from the German state, which pays landlords to house migrants. “Business with the refugees is now more profitable than drug trafficking,” said Heinz Buschkowsky, a former mayor of Neukölln.

The Berlin Criminal Police Office (Landeskriminalamt) confirmed that “proceeds from criminal offenses, including organized crime, were invested in real estate by the persons concerned or by third parties.” Tom Schreiber, a member of the Berlin House of Deputies, said the clans have exposed the moral bankruptcy of the German government: “The state promotes organized crime with taxpayer money.”

“Berlin is lost,” said Michael Kuhr, a well-known Berlin-based security consultant. “These clan structures have established themselves in all areas of organized crime. We will never go back to how things were 20 years ago. In addition, these people are highly dangerous and have lost all respect for the power of the state.”

China just took the lead in the quantum space race

Scientists lay groundwork for ultra-secure quantum internet

On Thursday, a team of Chinese scientists released findings from a breakthrough study that makes China the indisputable leader in the field of quantum communication, an achievement that could be of immense strategic importance.

The study, led by Pan Jianwei and published in Science magazine, successfully demonstrated the ability to distribute entangled photons across unprecedented distances, from space to earth, opening the door for the practical application of cutting-edge, ultra-secure communication.

The year’s most important news story probably never made it into your news feed. Nonetheless it might change your life forever. For the first time, China has demonstrated that it is far ahead of the United States in a critical new technology, namely quantum communications. A Chinese satellite succeeded in transmitting so-called entangled photons to earth stations. That’s the high-tech equivalent of sending a message in undeveloped photographic film: If you try to read it, the light will destroy it. The Chinese breakthrough has huge implications for cryptography, and for a host of other applications.

The tortoise just overtook the hare. We haven’t woken up from a decades-long nap, and we’re at serious risk of losing the race. If we do lose, there will be a name for an American who works for a Chinese: “Employed.” This is not a drill. This is the real thing.

The study, led by Pan Jianwei and published in Science magazine, successfully demonstrated the ability to distribute entangled photons across unprecedented distances, from space to earth, opening the door for the practical application of cutting-edge, ultra-secure communication….

Encryption methods used today are nearly, but not completely, impossible to hack, but with more advanced computing power the forms of encoding that protect information sent online will become more and more vulnerable. Quantum key distribution, however, is unique in that any measurement of the transmission by an eavesdropper disturbs the transmission, thereby alerting the parties sending information.

So much for the mantra, “The Chinese steal technology but don’t know how to innovate.” Anyone who has seen China’s tech boom up close knows how dumb this view is. Books with titles like “The Coming Collapse of China” are now in their dozenth edition, while China is surging ahead in key areas of technology. China now graduates 1.3 million STEM students from its universities each year, vs. 300,000 in the US. How good are they? As Prof. Graham Allison reports in his new book The Thucydides Trap:

According to the most recent Stanford University comparison of students entering college in the fields of engineering and computer science, Chinese high school graduates arrive with a three-year advantage over their American counterparts in critical-thinking skills. 49 In 2015, Tsinghua University passed MIT in the U.S. News & World Report rankings to become the number-one university in the world for engineering. Among the top ten schools of engineering, China and the US each had four.

Something is fishy about USS Fitzgerald story we are getting from the media

We received an email from a Navy Mother that raises serious questions. We will redact her name, while the rumors (and that’s how they must be categorized for now) reported by her son aboard the Fitzgerald are checked out. Here is what she wrote to us:

My son is assigned to the USS Fitzgerald. I am unable to share his rate with you.

The information is short and not so sweet. The implications are disturbing.

The ship is registered in the Philippines. We do not know who the owner is. The container ship neither had its running lights or transponder on. That is an action taken willfully. Furthermore, for the container ship to strike with such accuracy is troublesome. Given what some have done with cars in Europe, what a feather in the cap it would be to sink a U.S. Navy warship. Think on that.

My son missed being washed out to sea by the blink of an eye. He was on his way to one of the berthing areas that was rammed.

Yes, language is important. “Rammed” is the perfect word.

    Loving and Concerned Navy Mother

If there is any substance to this – that the ACX Crystal disabled protective systems and rammed the Fitzgerald at high speed aimed at crtical facilities (evident from the damage)

…we have to consider the possibility of an asymmetric warfare attack designed to disable missile defense of a carrier strike group, as North Korea demonstrates the ability to make exactly such attacks on a multibillion dollar warship carrying thousands of sailors.

    – Taking a wrong turn and being accused of a hate crime. An update on that old story. Ray Hadley has his say in The $Oz today:

Andrews must heed NSW lesson or be dogged by disaster

Before Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews makes any move against his state’s greyhound industry, he should do one thing: pick up the phone and call NSW Labor colleague Luke Foley.

He should ask Foley what damage former premier Mike Baird’s decision to shut down the industry did to the incumbent government there.

Having watched and called greyhound racing for 35 years, I believe the industry is far stronger in Victoria than in any other state. It adds more than $130 million to the state’s economy. It creates thousands of jobs. They are sports mad in Victoria, and anyone who tries to take apart any form of racing, be it greyhound, harness or thoroughbred, courts disaster.

The Premier would do well to pay attention to the gangs terrorising his major city, and maybe take a big stick to magistrates rather than legislate guards for greyhounds 24 hours a day. Maybe he should put a watchdog on the magistrate who gave a bikie bail this week despite serious charges because his lawyer said he cried while in jail. Robert Ale is accused of being a key player in a bikie criminal syndicate that trafficked drugs and planned arson attacks. Magistrate Ann Collins granted him bail after his barrister said Mr Ale “broke down and cried like a baby”.

You can’t walk around the streets there safely. Law and order is quite clearly the biggest issue leading into the Victorian election, and this ridiculous decision by the Andrews government could see Labor consigned to opposition quicker than the Nationals lost the NSW seat of Orange over the same issue.

If he doesn’t call Foley for a basic history lesson, Andrews must have the IQ of a cumquat

If Theresa May wants to know why she is so unpopular it is that whe has vowed to stamp out Islamophobia because of one attack against a mosque. She has never vowed to stamp Islamic terrorism, primarily because she never says the words Islamic terrrorism – its always wrapped up under the euphemism of extremism. BUT one criminal lunatic commits an attack against Muslims and she is all in on stopping Islamophobia. Not extremism, which presumably the Finsbury Park attack is, but she names it and targets it.

Meanwhile Britons must continue to live with Islamic terrorism because its part and parcel of modern multicultural life. What an odious woman to lead a country. Either you don’t tolerate any terrorism from anybody and crack down hard on it, regardless who it’s from or you will be seen to be taking sides. Most British people will consider May stronger in defending Muslims than non Muslim Britons because she has taken the latter position rather than the former.

For the record, I would prefer that governments crack down hard and refuse to tolerate terrorism from anybody. Clearly a significant risk of not vowing to name and wipeout Islamic terrorism is that you encourage copycat revenge attacks which is what appeared to happen at Finsbury Park. Is it any wonder Britons have such a low opinion of Theresa May and her gutless appeasing Government?

More selected details about the Paris aborted attack:

An attempted terror attack in the centre of Paris was thwarted earlier this morning when a would-be assailant – known to authorities – died after ramming his car filled with gas canisters into a police van.

In France, authorities believe that the city may have been spared the horrors of a deadly attack because part of an explosive device failed to work.

A 31 year old Parisian, known to police and on the country’s watch list targeted a convoy of police vehicles, ramming one of them at 3.40pm French time just a few hundred metres from the presidential home of Emmanuel Macron, before staggering out of the car with a weapon. The man died from his injuries before he could attack anybody.

However orange smoke billowed from the damaged car near the Champs Elysees which was later found to have been loaded with gas canisters, handguns and a machine gun.

“Security forces have been targeted in France once again,” Interior Minister Gérard Collomb said. He said the incident was an “attempted attack”.

Counter terrorism police and bomb squads rushed to the central Paris scene as the area was cordoned off and on lockdown.

French police said the car, a white Renault Megane, hit the front of the police van as it was overtaking a convoy of police vehicles. Footage recorded shortly afterwards then showed orange smoke billowing from the car.

“People were running every which way,” Alexandre, 51 , told France 24. ”Some shouted at me to get away.”

France has been in a state of emergency since the devastating Paris attacks on the Bataclan, restaurants and the State de France in November 2015 and new president Macron has flagged broader search and arrest powers to be enshrined in law, rather than be enacted during emergency situations.

French terror experts believe that Paris has had a lucky escape. Jacques Poinas, the former head of the French anti-terror unit, told BFMTV: “It appears the explosive part didn’t work. The device was apparently ignited but didn’t go off. It could also be that that the assailant was too badly injured in the collision to go through with his plan.”

Priests Demand Sweden Stop Celebrating ‘Poisonous’ National Holiday

A pair of Swedish priests has demanded the country and church stop celebrating the Swedish national holiday “National Day” saying nationalism and patriotism are “poison”.
Priests Peter Englund and Helena Myrstener from the southern, heavily migrant-populated Swedish city of Malmö have said Swedish people should stop celebrating “National Day”.

They claim that “nothing good has come out of nationalism or patriotism” and the day has been “exploited by right wing populist forces” in an editorial for left wing Swedish newspaper Dagens Nyheter.

“The nation-state is a way to organise and administer but nothing to revere,” the pair wrote. National Day, which occurs June 6 every year, replaced Whit Monday becoming the official Swedish national holiday in 2005.

According to Englund and Myrstener, patriotism is a “poison” writing: “Patriotism has its roots in the patriarchal thinking that celebrates traditional masculinity as strength, competition, inequality, and reduces men to soldiers, and women to mothers. It goes without saying that this does not create good conditions for a world without borders.”

The best way to be proud of being Swedish, according to the authors, is to celebrate the right to vote and enjoy the various parks and nature in Sweden.

Englund and Myrstener also say the church should not be involved in civic holidays and say the Swedish Church has become too “synonymous with being Swedish”. Calling the Christian faith “radical”, “nationalism and patriotism must be swept away and replaced with internationalism and solidarity”.

In September this year, the Swedish Church will have elections to what is known as the “parliament” of the church. The two priests slammed the anti-mass immigration Sweden Democrats accusing the party of wanting to use the church to “consolidate a political ideology”.

The reaction to the article has been overwhelmingly negative with a poll on the paper’s website saying that 82 per cent of readers fundamentally disagree with the priests.

Last year, Tobias Andersson, the National President of the Sweden Democrat’s youth wing, the Young Swedes, slammed the church for having a “lack of Christianity”.

Andersson’s comments came after the lesbian Bishop of Stockholm Eva Brunne called for the removal of crosses in a church in her diocese in order to allow Muslims to pray there instead. Bishop Brunne defended the move saying it would make people of other faiths feel more welcome.

How Labor Supporters treat Taxpayers Money

MFB official secretly hired sons in ‘calculated’ case of nepotism

A senior Metropolitan Fire Brigade official secretly hired her two sons after the men changed their surnames to conceal the familial link in a “calculated” case of nepotism that cost taxpayers $400,000.

The Victorian Ombudsman found former MFB chief information officer Mary Powderly-Hughes had hired her sons David Hewson and Barry Robinson after engineering their recruitment by falsifying resumes and coaching them through the interview process.

The sons changed their surnames weeks before they were hired by their mother, in order to conceal the connection, which was never disclosed to the MFB.

“Some cases I have investigated over the years seem so unlikely you could not make them up — except, as in this case, they did,” Victorian Ombudsman Deborah Glass said yesterday, as she handed down the preliminary report into the investigation.

She found Ms Powderly-Hughes hired Mr Hewson in July 2014, three weeks after he had changed his surname. During his tenure with the MFB, his mother organised contract extensions and pay rises, and for less than two years of work he received $266,060.

In a written statement to the Ombudsman during the investigation, Mr Hewson wrote: “My mother is Mary Powderly-Hughes … In about late June/early July Mary said to me that she had walked into the job from hell and needed help … She said it would be a good idea to change my name, as she already had enough trouble with union members in her team.”

Two years later, in mid-2016, Ms Powderly-Hughes backfilled a position left vacant when her first son was promoted by awarding it to her other son, Barry Robinson. He had changed his surname to Robinson two weeks before he started the MFB job.

“During the period between March and July 2016, Mr Robinson said his mother developed his CV, trained him in the computer programs … integral to the role, and interviewed him for the position,” the report, tabled in the Victorian parliament, read.

They conducted his job interview at his mother’s home.

He was paid $74,952.60 for 159 days of work.

An investigation was launched after a complaint was made to the independent Broad-based Anti-corruption Commission in January 2016. Ms Powderly-Hughes resigned on the day of her interview with the Ombudsman, and her two sons had their positions terminated.

The Ombudsman said she had seen countless examples of nepotism over the years, but rarely did they involve such calculated behaviour. “Often the cases are minor, although wrong. Not this time: this was a case of deception where the family nest was feathered, plain and simple,” she said.

The report stated although the most robust policy couldn’t have prevented the deception conducted by Ms Powderly-Hughes and her sons, the MFB board should review its conflict of interest, confidentiality and ethics policies.

Chief executive of the MFB Jim Higgins has indicated his intention to refer the conduct to Victoria Police.

China leapfrogs US in critical strategic technology

On Thursday, a team of Chinese scientists released findings from a breakthrough study that makes China the indisputable leader in the field of quantum communication, an achievement that could be of immense strategic importance.

Among the top ten schools of engineering, China and the US each had four.

should USA judges interpret the law or what they think is the thought behind it

One of the great horrors of the novel 1984 was the thought police who punished people for having incorrect thoughts. That’s the sort of communist worldview that the vast majority of Americans reject.

It’s dismaying that liberals have adapted communist tactics and implemented a new thought police in the guise of the judiciary. Liberal judges have decided that they can read peoples innermost thoughts. That’s the basis for both the 9th and 4th Circuit Courts declaring that Trump’s temporary travel ban is unconstitutional.

Both courts agree that the executive order as written is constitutional. Both courts agree that if Hillary or Obama had issued the exact same order it would be constitutional. Both courts declare it to be unconstitutional because they claim to know what Trump was really thinking when he signed the orders.

Those two circuit courts are saying that they know that Trump’s thoughts are not sufficiently pure and hence that disqualifies him from exercising his constitutional authority.

Essentially, liberals are declaring that federal judges are a thought police that has the authority to punish a President whose thoughts don’t toe the line defined by the judges.

Earlier liberals realized that even judges who think they are god can’t actually read people’s minds. That’s why the Supreme Court ruled that all a court should take into account when assessing the constitutionality of an executive order is what the order says.

That makes sense since if the government started acting outside of what an executive order said, by say banning all Muslims from entering the U.S., the court could take action against that activity. Hence there’s no reason to ban an order that is itself constitutional.

Unfortunately, this latest power grab by liberal judges goes far beyond anything they have tried before. Essentially, the judges are saying that if they determine that a President, or presumably Congress, has ever expressed displeasure with any group for any reason they, the judges, can declare that the President, or Congress, can make no laws that the court doesn’t approve of that impact that group.

For example we know that Obama disparaged Christians, who “cling” to their religion, and hence using this new principle of law the HHS mandate would be unconstitutional.

Of course the liberal judges would not rule the HHS mandate unconstitutional because they agree with it. Which points to the most troubling aspect of this new trend; the judges are saying that if the President disparages any group a judge likes, than the judge is entitled to take over the President’s power, as defined in the Constitution, as it relates to that group.

This means, for example, that if Trump should decide to take women out of combat roles in the Army the courts could tell him he can’t do that because he’s spoken poorly of women in the past.

The court’s actions are a gross violation of separation of powers. The Supreme Court has ruled many times that the Executive Branch is responsible for immigration and foreign policy. Yet these judges have declared that they can usurp the Executive Branch’s powers if they decide that they don’t like what the President is thinking. Clearly since the judges are the ones who decide what thoughts and policies are acceptable there is no limit to what authority the judges can steal.

There’s really no reason the courts can’t extend this same reasoning to areas other than discrimination against a group. For example, the courts could conclude that Trump can’t exit the Paris accords because he’s expressed doubt about the reality of global warming… err climate change and because the judges believe in climate change they know that Trump’s thoughts are wrong.

This takes judicial tyranny to a whole new level. These two circuit courts are saying that if judges don’t like a President’s attitude, not his actions, on an issue there is no limit to what the courts can do.

A woman from the Baltic countries who had lived under both communists and Nazis said she preferred the Nazis because as long as you did what they wanted they left you alone, but the communists insisted that people think the way the communists did.

The same is apparently true of modern liberal judges; following the Constitution — as reimagined by liberal judges — is no longer enough. Now politician’s thoughts must be judged to be pure, in the sense of following the liberal line, in order for them to be able to exercise their Constitutional authority.

Of course the reality is that the judges know what they’re doing and hence they are simply traitors who refuse to accept the results of the election. As with their communist forbears the ends justify the means, and hence anything that crosses the judge’s minds is a positive good so long as it “resists” Trump.

We must recognize that we are at war in America. While conservatives accepted Obama’s elections and even stuck to the legal process when Obama repeatedly violated the Constitution, the neofascists, nee liberals, are willing to use violence and illegal actions by the Deep State to negate the peoples votes.

Clearly liberal judges feel absolutely no need to follow the law, the Constitution, or even common sense if those conflict with their fascist desires for a new Amerika. Liberals who aren’t judges support both the fascist acts of the judges and the violence that “antifa” thugs use to silence speech they don’t like.

These are not our father’s liberals whose policies were wrong but who believed in Democracy, God, and Freedom of Speech. These are the sons and daughters of the liberals who sided with Hitler until he attacked the Soviet Union and who spent the Cold War telling us it was America’s fault.

If the new fascists succeed, our children will grow up in a dictatorship of evil where the elites rule over us from their coastal retreats.

No matter what you think about Trump, we have to go to war with the President we have, and so far he’s done a pretty good job of fighting the neofascists. Worrying about Trump’s tweets while judges are stealing our freedom is like rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic; it’s only going to help those who are trying to enslave us all.

We need to return to an America where judges only decide what laws mean instead of deciding what the laws should be.

We must resist the “resisters” with as much energy as they use in trying to enslave us. None of us can sit by and just assume things will work out because we’re not fighting people of good will anymore; we’re fighting monsters that want to steal what our forefathers died to give us, our freedom.

    about that Russian election

President Trump has every right to scream loudly about this investigation. I have never seen anything like this since Patrick Fitzgerald went all over the Milky Way looking for someone to indict about anything.

As for Mr. Comey, it looks for sure as if he had been leaking for months to promote himself at Mr. Trump’s expense.

So – exactly what are we investigating again?

First, there is no evidence of any collusion with Russia. Frankly, the idea that Russia impacted our vote is so absurd that it makes me angry that anyone is even peddling the idea. By the way, I am not taking Russia or Putin off the hook. They are and have been adversaries for a long time. They probably have tried to destabilized our system many times. However, I am not blaming Putin for getting millions of Obama’s 2012 voters to switch to Trump in 2016.

Second, the appointment of independent counsel seemed like a good idea a couple of weeks ago. Unfortunately, leaks and the hiring of Clintonistas is troubling. Couldn’t Mr. Mueller find attorneys in the U.S. who did not donate to the Democratic Party?

Third, all of this stuff about “obstruction of justice” is crazy.

I like what James Freeman wrote in the Wall Street Journal:

As for the idea that Mr. Trump might have obstructed justice, Andy McCarthy and Alan Dershowitz and Michael McConnell have separately explained why this is a big stretch, and Richard Epstein makes the case that if anyone in this drama is vulnerable to a possible obstruction charge, it’s Mr. Comey.

But whatever one believes about the President, the Post reports make Mr. Mueller’s team look like political hacks focused on providing inappropriate leaks from an investigation just barely in progress, rather than professionals who are putting aside their politics to do a public service.

This is assuming the Post reports are accurate.

Mr. Mueller has a big challenge. He will have to write a report that a divided nation will accept. So far, he is off to a bad start.

Nobody is safe from identity politics, even its own allies

FRENCH essayist Jacques Mallet du Pan once observed that the Revolution devours its children.

Those words hold as much truth some 200 years later, with identity politics devotees thinking nothing of hungrily wolfing down their own.

Exhibit A: Mia Freedman versus black, queer feminist and fat activist Roxane Gay.

Freedman was once lauded as one of Australia’s most high-profile feminists.

But she is now Feminism’s Public Enemy Number One, finding out the hard way that when you kneel so far at the altar of identity politics, you’ll eventually fall over, much like her idol Hillary Clinton.

On the surface, Freedman’s great crime was to openly discuss with her audience the physical challenges of an author who is “super morbidly obese” (yes, that’s the medical term, lest I too am accused of “fat shaming”), an author who had appeared on her podcast to promote her new memoir that deals, in part, with, um, the physical challenges of being super morbidly obese.

But because Gay is considered a high priestess of “intersectional feminism”, a relatively new movement that aims to — as the UK Telegraph’s Ava Vidal puts it — highlight how traditional feminism is “overly white, middle class, cis-gendered [read: someone who identifies as the gender they were born] and able-bodied.”

Freedman is, of course, all of these things, through no fault of her own, and so must shut up.

There’s been a similar push in gay politics in the US, where in Philadelphia, the rainbow Pride flag has been altered to include the colours black and brown to be more representative of “people of colour” (POC) in the LGBTQI community.

The head of Philadelphia’s Office of LGBT Affairs, Amber Hikes, told CNN the “vast majority” of the new flag’s critics are gay white men who claim the existing flag already represents everyone.

“White people do not know what racism looks like because that’s the definition of racism,” Hikes says.

Back in Australia, openly gay journalist Shannon Molloy learnt what it’s like not to be considered the “right” kind of gay simply by virtue of his employment at News Corp.

The entertainment reporter said he felt “bullied” into stepping down from his position on the board of the NSW Gay and Lesbian Rights Lobby last month, following a vicious campaign by Melbourne gay rights activist Rodney Chiang-Cruise.

Meanwhile in Hollywood, progressive actor-turned-executive producer Mark Ruffalo was slammed by the transgender community for daring to cast a cis actor (read: a man) to act a transgender woman (read: a man who identifies a woman) in his latest movie, Anything.

The key word here being “act”.

But according to some in the trans community, only trans actors should be able to act as trans people.

Shh, no one tell them about The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert.

Ruffalo responded: “To the Trans community, I hear you. It’s wrenching to see you in this pain… we are all learning.”

Yes, learning that no matter how hard you try to appease the identity politics crowd, you’ll still likely end up on their dinner plate.

Mark Latham: Immigration is destroying housing affordability, we need an Australia-first migration program
    Mark Latham, The Daily Telegraph
    June 20, 2017 12:00am
    Subscriber only

IN the great debate about housing affordability, a new mantra has emerged on both sides of politics. It’s yet another three-word slogan: “improved urban planning”.

Instead of cutting immigration numbers to bring down housing demand and housing prices, Liberal and Labor are focusing on just one side of the housing market: increased supply.

They want to flood the Sydney basin with wall-to-wall urbanisation.

They are building a vast metropolis, extending to Appin in the southwest and abutting the Blue Mountains in the west.

Most of the growth is concentrated in a new residential corridor between Penrith and Camden — building a city the size of Canberra along the spine of the narrow, two-lane Northern Rd.

This is the snake oil of our time: the fantastic notion that in a city already heavily congested, we can swamp Western Sydney with new arrivals and new suburbs and somehow the magic of “improved urban planning” will produce a metropolitan nirvana.

The head of the Greater Sydney Commission, Lucy Turnbull, has said “we need to plan for an additional 1.74 million people by 2036”, mostly in Sydney’s West.

    Tell her she’s dreaming.

The only way Sydney can become a 30-minute city is if the Turnbulls buy everybody a helicopter.

Why don’t our political leaders understand this reality?

They don’t see the problems because they don’t live near them.

The Big Australia mentality that sustains the nation’s 200,000-plus annual immigration program is the ultimate act of selfishness.

The business lobbyists, economists and MPs pushing for big migration numbers do so safe in the knowledge that overcrowding and congestion will never affect the gentrified, inner-city boroughs in which they live.

They use immigration as a giant Ponzi scheme: artificially pumping up economic growth at a cost to urban efficiency, housing affordability and wages growth.

We need an Australia-first migration program, designed for the benefit of the people who live here, not those wanting to come here.

For Western Sydney, this means abandoning Big Australia and limiting population growth into the region.

Taffy rounds a corner in downtown London and is confronted by a group of Jihadis spilling into the street after evening prayers at a nearby Mosque.
Just prior, an elderly Jihadi waiting at a bus spot, further down the road has a heart attack, causing more Jihadi commotion with onlookers spilling onto the street.
Taffy does his best to avoid the first mob, loses control, mounts the gutter and collides with some of the bus stop onlookers, who by now are standing around a man who has died from a heart attack.
Realising his dilemma, Taffy panics and keeps driving a short distance to a laneway to try to make his escape before he is beaten to death but is apprehended by some Jihadis and given a touch-up before Police arrive.
Jihadis seize the opportunity and realise there is mileage to be made and invent stories of knives, other attackers and shouts of ‘Kill all Muslims’.
Prime Ministers, Mayors and Police Chiefs pose for photo opportunities infront of dower looking Jihadis.
Taffy’s chance of a fair hearing have ended. He is branded a terrorist by the media even before charges are laid.
Taffy’s life is over, one way or another.

1 incident involving a van hitting Muslims and it’s a bloody hate crime.

Hundreds of incidents involving Muslims in the U.K and we are told it has nothing to do with Islam

If you can’t see that for what it is, then you need to go to spec savers mate.

And before somebody tries to call me a Nazis, I was born into an Islamic family and I was placed into care during the 70s because I was physically beaten by my biological father and the Islamic community in Batley for not wanting to go to the mosque on a nighttime.

On finding out I was from an Islamic family Kirklees council changed my white social worker for a Muslim. Her first words to me
“You have brought shame and disrespect to the family and community , you father loves you, and you should go back home”

I stopped speaking to the cow from that day on.

Don’t be sorry, it was the best thing that could have happened to me. I was removed from a polarised community., placed into the British way of life where on been brought up by a loving and caring Christian family. I learnt that Islam really is a backward faith. I joined the army in 1980 and left last month. I’ve been all over the world and all I can see regards Islam is that it breeds only pain and conflict. As you may have gathered I am not a follower of the religion of peace.

China leapfrogs US in critical strategic technology

  190. incoherent rambler

    Orwell’s world has arrived.
This is intricate incompetence, so bear with me.

Australia Post has a place name database (have had for years).
It provides a barcode and unique identifier for every delivery address within Australia.
Australia Post will sell you a copy of this for a subscription fee.

I started getting SPAM sent to one of my email addresses from a company called (say) C&E (Australia). These emails were pretty clearly someone else’s online orders and delivery instructions. I won’t tell you what they ordered. But the emails contained the personal (and some financial) details of the orderer.
    Cool eh?

It get’s better. C&E obviously use a company called (say) notsosmartfreight.com to do the deliveries. notsosmartfreight.com use Australia Post (aka Startrack).
Pretty clearly, my email address has been (incorrectly) linked in one or more databases to an Australia Post “place name”.

Some not so clever computer system has established a one to one relationship of my email address to someone else’s postal address.

The problem begins when I email each of these parties to tell them that the etheric US based email address does not belong to Mrs. Somebodies postal address.
Them: “Sorry, you need to provide evidence that you live at that address before we can remove that email address from our system.”
Me: “I don’t live at that address”
    Them: “Goodbye”

Same story for each of the three companies involved.

The implications are obvious for an anonymous blogger who uses a hotmail/gmail etc address as a blog identifier, namely; There are shared (without your permisssion) corporate/government
databases that map an etheric email address to a physical location. This happens when you buy something.
I find out about it because someone mistyped a postal (or email) address.

So, I followed the trail. Many cat posters leak their email address via gravatar.com or youtube.com. That email address, in turn gives their postal address via the auspost place name database bound to a shopping cart database. The shopping cart database is off shored to a country (e.g. Ireland) which allows the sharing of the cart database.

Moral of the story is: Use a separate email address for blogging

Very instructive watching The Dumb last night.

Normally, after a jihadi attack, the words Muslim and Islam are studiously avoided. If they are mentioned, it is only to declare that “terrorism” (i.e. jihadism) is nothing to do with Islam and the perpetrator is not a true Muslim.

After the atypical attack yesterday, suddenly it was all about Islam and Muslims!

The award for dissembling went, as usual, to regular guest Ali Kadri, who opined that the Finsbury Park attack proves that we should not talk about “Islamic terrorism” but simply “terrorism” or “extremism”. This has been his mantra for some time now and is evidently an agreed upon position among the leaders of the various state Islamic councils in Australia. They have threatened to order Muslims not to cooperate with authorities on Muslim terrorism (i.e. jihad) investigations if politicians and police do not stop publicly linking Islam and terror. We have imported a fifth column courtesy our stupid immigration program.

Oh, and Kadri also demanded that Pauline Hanson condemn the Finsbury Park attack.

Is Kevni writing his own tell-all story?

At least it would be sort of satirical, given he would write it one way and people would read it from a totally different point of view. In the Oz:

Word on the street is that Kevin Rudd is writing his autobiography. This is surely enough to put a song in the heart of anyone who enjoyed his work in The Killing Season (“But Julia, you’re a good person. Why are you doing this?”). Alas, he won’t be joining the ranks of Laborites turning out titles for Melbourne University Publishing. MUP chief Louise Adler gave Strewth a multilingual “no” just to eradicate all traces of ambiguity. It’s a pity as Rudd would have become a stablemate of this august organ’s former editor-in-chief, Chris Mitchell. What could possibly have given a bookshelf greater frisson than those two tomes side-by-side? Penguin Random House Australia and Hachette also gave a firm (albeit monolingual) no, while HarperCollins remains a mystery for now. As does Black Inc, which could be a natural home given some of Rudd’s breakthrough writing was for Morry Schwartz’s empire. And despite (or possibly because of) the poetic beauty of Strewth’s question to the Wholly Roamin’ Emperor himself, there has been silence from that end. We’ll take this all as a definitely maybe.

Probably the most complete and plausible explanation to date, except for this bit, Top Ender:

I originally thought the USS Fitzgerald was stationary before the impact, but I’ve since changed my mind, since I’ve been told that there would be no operational reason to be stationary near an area of high traffic, on a moonless night.

The photos of damage clearly demonstrate the USS Fitzgerald was, in fact, dead in the water at the time of impact. There may have been no “operational reason” for that, but not all causes are operational. Catastrophic failure of both primary and back-up power systems would explain it, plus explain the apparent inability of the Fitzgerald to broadcast any warning before, and the time confusion in reporting the incident to the authorities.

It is understandable that the Yanks would want to keep such a failure quiet, especially with regards a ship that had recently had a major upgrade. Interestingly, the ship’s Wikipedia entry, which historically got an edit or two a month, has been edited 205 times since the collision. The page now contains only the barest of details of the ship, plus an entry about the accident.

Will he warn against anglophobic backlash against all whites?

It seems there may be no need.

Reliable muslim witnesses reported that the van accelerated toward the crowd, but the front of the van and windscreen show none of the damage that usually occurs after impacting multiple 80 Kg objects at high speed.

Reliable muslim witnesses claim there were three white occupants of the van, but police claim only one.

Reliable muslim witnesses claim that the driver leapt from the van yelling “kill all muslims” and used a knife to stab someone. Police have advised there was no knife, no stabbing and video shows what appears to be a staggering drunk and only muslims engaging in crazed yelling.

Reliable muslim witnesses report a brave muslim wrestled a savage knife wielding attacker to the ground. Police have advised there was no knife.

Reliable muslim witnesses reported three people died at the scene. Police advise there has been only one death.

Just how reliable are muslim witnesses? Could this just be a vehicle accident caused by a drunken driver with a van full of refrigerators and a crowd of muslims refusing to stay on the footpath after leaving a mosque?

Applying Melbourne standards, Sydney apartments would be $150,000 cheaper

Sydney design standards are adding $150,000 to the cost of an average apartment, a survey commissioned by Urban Taskforce has found.

Sydney planners HDC, architects Turner Studio and quantity surveyor John Ferrarin found that due to the requirements of NSW’s State Environmental Planning Policy 65 and Apartment Design Guide, the average two-bedroom and two-bathroom apartment in Sydney priced at $750,000 could be acquired for $600,000 if Melbourne standards were applied.

“Sydney apartments are costing far more than those in Melbourne and Brisbane mainly because the NSW planning system requires much higher standards,” Urban Taskforce chief executive Chris Johnson said.

The Sydney standards … set standards for areas, solar access, cross ventilation and other requirements that end up adding around $150,000 to the purchase price of an average two-bed apartment compared to a Melbourne equivalent.”

These well-meaning standards, which provide “lots of sunshine”, come at a cost – worsening affordability, which is forcing a lot of purchasers out of the market, Mr Johnson added.

“The requirement for 70 per cent of apartments to get solar access in mid-winter for two hours between 9am and 3pm means many housing proposals in high rise urban areas will be rejected by zealous council planners. In Melbourne and Brisbane, where there are no such solar access requirements, high rise apartments will be feasible, ” he said.

“The apartment dwellers of Melbourne and Brisbane are not very different from those in Sydney so Urban Taskforce believes we should relax the Sydney standards particularly in urban precincts so more people can live an urban life in apartments.”

Sydney requires cross ventilation, solar access in winter and building depth which add another $24,000 to a price of a two bedroom apartment, compared to Melbourne.

More flexibility for above-ground car parking that is well-screened, excessive ceiling heights for kitchens, and lower floors, along with additional open space, add another $33,000 to Sydney prices.

But the biggest cost driver for Sydney apartments is the minimum space requirement, higher than other capital cities. Sydney requires 75sq m for a standard two-bedroom unit while in Melbourne – which has no set minimum overall size – 65sq m is “achievable”, according to Mr Johnson.

At the average sale price of $10,000 a square metre, this adds up to $100,000 more for a Sydney apartment than a Melbourne one.

  220. It’s a dead end street – Bollards of Safety close off the exit.
There are vehicles in the street, parked. Did they ‘mount the pavement’ too?

No it’s not, Winston. It’s not a dead end street, it’s a lane with bollards at each end. I have seen similar bollard set ups to deter through traffic. The bollards themselves are relatively lightweight – usually made of aluminium. One or more slip over, and lock to, a stud cemented into the ground. People with a need to access the area have a key to the lock. I doubt Taffy qualified.

I visited a friend in a small unit. I needed to watch the low ceiling being used to higher ceiling in the past. Alright for the Asian tenant.

We were supposed to leave Sydney at 22:00 last night. Generator failure, I am told, means we are still here. Well, it is a tramp steamer I guess.

Oh well, some other ship of approximate size (I guess) to yours, passing by with a row of lights on it at around ten thirty last night, must have wondered who was signaling madly from an on-shore property.

It was me, wondering if you were still up. Flipping the switch just in case.
Apart from an occasional ferry there was not much other traffic. 🙂

The vertical slums of Melbournibad are a monument to the unintended consequences of government action. They should be heritage listed for this reason alone.

As I drive in past Melbourne City on the freeway once a month, I see Slum Tower Blocks with Flammable Cladding blocking sunshine out from each other.

How to build a slum and this was written in 11 February 2015

I’ve been keeping a close eye on the Melbourne inner-city apartment market, and right now, there’s red flags going up all over the place.

I’m talking CBD high-rise apartment towers. It’s a funny market. It seems to be marching completely to the beat of it’s own drum. And I’m not sure I like where it’s going.

We’ve seen a massive quantity of new apartments come on line in the past couple of years. But the bulk of these apartments seem to be marketed directly to foreign buyers – particularly the Chinese.

And there seem to be a lot of questions about the quality and ‘liveability’ of these apartments. The AFR was running a report last year that 40% of new apartments were less than 40 square metres.

Barely enough room to swing a cat.

And now someone sent me a link to a report the Melbourne Council has done.

Leanne Hodyl, who is the co-ordinator of city plans and policy at MCC, has stuck the boot into the architects and developers behind Melbourne’s high-rise boom.

She reckons “weak, ineffective or non-existent” rules mean that apartment towers in central Melbourne are being built at four times the densities allowed in other major cities – like New York, Hong Kong and Tokyo.

Yep. Cities that have come to epitomise over-crowding. In Tokyo they have people with white gloves to gently stuff you into overflowing trains. These cities have rules that create 4 times more space that we’re getting in inner Melbourne right now!

    Madness.

    As Hoydl says,

“There was general consensus from the planning and design experts that I interviewed… that the densities being delivered in central Melbourne are too high and many questioned whether they could deliver long-term liveable outcomes…

[Melbourne] enables the approval of tower developments that are very tall and that squeeze out the space between buildings, with little regard on the effect on the residents within, the impact on the streets below or on the value of neighbouring properties…

There is legitimate concern… that developing at these extreme densities will have negative, long-term impacts for Melbourne, eroding away Melbourne’s celebrated liveability. It will create a legacy of apartments that are of poor quality – homes that lack access to light, air and an outlook – and diminish the quality of the streets and parks below by blocking sunlight, increasing wind drafts and obstructing sky views. The quality of these public spaces is critical – even more so as these city residents retreat from their compact apartments to use the city’s streets and parks as their ‘living room’.”

If what she’s saying is true, the rules mean we’re effectively building a slum. These apartments might not be too bad now, but once they get a bit older and a bit dirtier they could go downhill very quickly. And without views, light or air, they’ll be horrible places to live.

Decision on Pell charges imminent: police
    Australian Associated Press
A decision on whether to charge Cardinal George Pell over historical child sex allegations is “imminent”, Victoria’s highest-ranking police officer says.

Chief Commissioner Graham Ashton says Cardinal Pell’s lawyers will be told if charges will be laid over the allegations, relating to incidents in the late 1970s and 1990s.

“There is a great deal of public interest in it… we’ll get something out soon,” Mr Ashton told ABC radio on Tuesday.

Once we combine all the self drive/ drone services / automation systems into one gigantic system of transportation and food and goods delivery, how are we then any different to a bunch of chooks in a gigantic chook barn?
The government locks up all the wilderness into heavily policed parks, as per their regular forays into state forests on the Easter hols to fine anyone with an unregistered bike.
Farming and land use heavily regulated and taxed.
    Cash money dissapears.
You are now enmeshed in a completely inescapable, automated system.
    You will comply.
At the same time Marxism is again rampant in academia.
Is anyone else begining to get very, very afraid?
