Robert Richter will eviscerate many of the prosecution witnesses when the preliminary hearing gets under way.

There is a good chance the whole case against Pell will be shown to be fatuous.

It’s a disgrace that the charges themselves remain unknown. Of course, it helps in the ongoing smearing of the Cardinal’s good name which is the intention of this exercise.

Protesters planning to upstage anti-same-sex marriage rally in Hobart pull out:

Students organising a protest ahead of tonight’s Coalition for Marriage No campaign rally in Hobart say they have had to cancel the demonstration.
The University of Tasmania yesterday agreed to host the Coalition’s event at its Sandy Bay campus after initially rejecting the request.
Students in favour of same-sex marriage set up a Facebook event encouraging people to attend a “peaceful” protest outside the lecture theatre.
But a post on the page said the protest had been cancelled because they could not secure a permit.

I’ve never known the Left to give up so easily.

Speculation that LV shooter’s death was an accident, not suicide. Theory based upon use of a revolver with no hammer and no safety, while simultaneously handling two rifles and fumbling with gloves on (not fingerless gloves, full gloves) by a weapons amateur.

If true, would explain the odd cease fire from the shooter after a relatively short period of time, well before any significant police presence outside the room. The shooter may have been moving weapons around in response to the first security guard who approached the door, and was shot in the leg, around ten minutes after shooting began.

Their Julie Bishop reveals in interview that she leaked to Stalinist’s in the mafia and treacherously overthrew her own government, just because she felt personally neglected by Abbott.

She happily burbled on that whenever a woman said something in cabinet, no matter the content, all the other women had to speak up loudly, to support a woman’s point of view.

This creature takes it upon itself to fly to London, Paris and New York, to sign the country over in capitulation conventions, her black handed and withered heart full of hate and revenge lust.

Hint to my old Alma Mater: I didn’t go to university to ‘unlearn’ from my dreadful untutored state and be pummeled full of ready-made ‘received’ leftist wisdoms as happens today. The idea of ‘unlearning’ is insulting, no matter whether you’re just out of high school or 21 as I was. I felt I knew a lot already when I went to university, much of it hard earned. I went to university to debate, to hear many different sides to questions that puzzled me, and to ask questions; to find out interesting things and to discover more using my brains and their resources. I wasn’t looking for a meal ticket, as I already had a very good job I could always go back to. Sydney Uni has always had its poseurs, but it was once a better place than it is now. A sad decline.

“In my study of communist societies, I came to the conclusion that the purpose of communist propaganda was not to persuade or convince, not to inform, but to humiliate; and therefore, the less it corresponded to reality the better.

When people are forced to remain silent when they are being told the most obvious lies, or even worse when they are forced to repeat the lies themselves, they lose once and for all their sense of probity. To assent to obvious lies is…in some small way to become evil oneself. One’s standing to resist anything is thus eroded, and even destroyed.

    Zulu.
This looks like an interesting book:

Soldier presents a magnificent collection of highly detailed illustrations depicting uniforms worn by the military forces of this nation from colonial times to the modern era. Accompanying each illustration is the history of the uniform and equipment portrayed and the men and women who wore the uniform and the circumstances of their service. This is a book rich in colour and historical narrative.

Soldier is much more than simply a description of military uniforms and equipment. Phil Rutherford has spent over 20 years searching for the roots of Australia’s modern army, analysing trends both in dress and in the military art itself. In doing so he has discovered that there is very little about the uniforms worn and the equipment carried by today’s soldiers that can truly be called its own. Even the most iconic symbol of the Australian army, the slouch hat, was not invented by a Victorian volunteer as popular rumour suggests, but was worn by troops in seventeenth-century Europe. In fact, there are significant elements of the army’s dress and equipment, such as the badges of rank worn by both soldiers and officers, which can be traced to the days of knights in shining armour.

Soldier seeks to map the links between the army’s modern dress and its earliest antecedents, describing the formation and history of Australia’s army, from the perspective of both the regular and reserve soldiers. This book also reveals the story behind the soldiers themselves – the men and women who wore these uniforms – and the times in which they served since the first volunteers and militias were raised to protect the lives and property of the earliest settlers from adversaries both real and imagined.

It’s a bit pricey, but Big Sky normally have reasonable production values, and this is a topic that, unlike most other generalist Australian military history on the shelves right now, hasn’t been regurgitated to within the proverbial inch of its life.

  51. Thanks MV, I was hoping you could steer me to the one that hasn’t killed you yet.

In my study of communist societies, I came to the conclusion that the purpose of communist propaganda was not to persuade or convince, not to inform, but to humiliate; and therefore, the less it corresponded to reality the better.

Proving you have power over someone by forcing them to admit something they know is false. I heard similar analysis by Michael Malice with regards to North Korea. There’s a secondary effect which is to fill everyone’s head with nonsense, thus incapacitating them, and makes it easier to identify anyone who starts thinking logically because only by rejecting the propaganda BS can such a person start to piece together a sensible picture… but part of the system is to regularly test people to see if they can correctly recite the propaganda BS, then if they make a mistake they are punished.

The modern phrase is “full spectrum dominance” although possibly the exact context of that might be slightly different.

If it goes far enough, people stop resisting and just accept what they are told, because it’s easier. Now your homework is to identify a systematic methodology to identify whether this has been done to you already and how you would find your way back if you were to discover the problem. This has been explored in popular culture with movies like the Truman Show and Groundhog Day.

Arky might be well right, the Paddock killer may have been dealing in drugs for years, without taking them. Too intelligent, too organised to be a druggie.
His granniefriend was happy to take $100,000 and skedaddle, just accepting this massive amount of money was par for the course. She may be the stereotype gold digger Asian female type bought by a wealthy man.

Even so, and if even he had the most severe mental illness, I find it a big stretch to mass murder so brutally out of the blue as a 64 year old man, and with the capacity to have killed another few hundred.

Good old BAS , bass strait oil and gas has risen from the tenth of a cent death rattle share price.

Got some in the last cap raise, dripped the odds back into the market to recoup the risk capital and sat on the free attaching listed December expiry oppies.

The thing is , there is enough demand now for the oppies to be sold on market and trouser some cash, but if I pay the exercise premium and convert to ordinary shares, they chip in with a free piggyback option, longer dated.

Either the smart thing, or the sucker thing, depending on how long the rally holds.

Thanks for your concern all. Wife doing well. Expect to depart “catholic” hospital next week. The public health system is totally being hijacked by goat phuckers. They are the worst of humanity. I’ve worked out exactly how they do it. They know that hospitals get government money and are in fear of losing any funds so they just push and the PC lefties that run them keep making concessions. Inch by inch they keep taking. They give nothing. It is all over. We lost. We let them win without a fight.

That horrible woman who claims to be some sort of ‘body language’ expert is a pain in the backside. The brother is just a normal man undergoing the most enormous stress possible about a family member whom he grew up with and whom he obviously loved. We’ve had discussions here about blood being thicker than water, about loyalty (see Arky’s thread) and about feelings. This man is trying to come to terms with the most awful thing that can happen to a family. A good lawyer and adviser would say don’t talk to the bloody media and the crazy ladies like this idiot who will analyse the extreme hell out of whatever you say in your anguish and concern. Get lost, lady, I say.

I wouldn’t be boasting about being a qualified “epidemiologist,” if I were you.

Johanna, I topped the year in the Faculty of Medicine at SU in epidemiology by both knowing what was what in terms of study design and usefully applied statistics and critiquing the hell out of many of the very deficient ‘studies’ put up for examination, and also developing my own outline of a suitable case-control study that met all criteria for acceptability, which I listed and demonstrated. Gained 100%, i.e. faultless. There is a very good ‘science’ of epidemiological technique and statistical analysis but it is often mis-applied, as the Lancet and the NEJM have recognised. I doubt if you know anything much at all about the subject. Go and study it for two semesters as I did, pass your exams with High Distinction, and get back to me. Then marry a rich man and forget about it all. 🙂

Guys, if I am letting loose tonight, here’s my excuse. Baron Philippe de Rothschild, Bordeaux. Quite a nice drop. Why de Rothschild tonite? I sweetly ask Hairy. Are we jointly celebrating polyps found and removed? He then tells me it is cheapo plonk dese days. He has been tarkin’ to da Frenchman at Dan Murphy’s who says this is the young bloke, Philippe, da grandson, who wants to open up the Estate to a wider demographic. Like us? I ask, we who were shown the door and told to make an appointment (three months waiting period) when we rolled up to do a tasting in their Bordeaux chateau there a few years ago, prepared to spend up big with them.

Apparently Philippe is introducing Mouton Cadet at under $20 a bottle, and I am getting pissed on it. Hairy had a very good chat with da Frenchman about it all at Dan Murphy’s. All from the Estate? I ask suspiciously, and Hairy then lets on that St. Emillion grapes may be involved.

Marketing, I sneer. Sucked in, I say. But in fact, it’s not a bad drop. Not bad at all. Hic.
