  1. The necessity of back-up diesel power in the Latrobe Valley is just incredible. A generation earlier and this would have precipitated the fall of a government. However, we’ve become a country that believes that the state can redefine marriage and that batteries are an alternative to coal-fired generators.

  2. .

No Fisk, most immigrants don’t milk the system; quite a lot of refugees do.

You were actually complaining about Indian immigrants managing stores, in turn, which is a result of assimilation: owning said stores and investing their own capital. They create private sector jobs for their families and native-born Australians.

If you complain about assimilation, you’re basically saying you want zero immigration permanently.

This is the first time I’ve heard a “conservative” actually complain about successful assimilation.

    The Youngs are hilarious.

Guitar Player Mag: “So, Angus you are still using the Marshall amps on this tour”.

    Angus: “Yeah”.

GP: “And on the floor, what effects pedals”.

Angus: ” None. The only effect is me”.

I have worked with many subcontinent types and they tend to be very smelly, even the engineer and Dr types.

A combination of diet, not bathing daily and not washing clothes.
Diet causes extra smelly sweat. To save money on soap and hot water, you don’t bathe frequently. This makes the clothes smelly. The clothes aren’t washed to save money on power, soap and water. The clothes also last longer due to less wear and tear.

  5. Oh come on

Oh dear, two more women have come forward to accuse Al Franken of being a sex pest.

It’s a good thing Judge Moore adheres to values like the sanctity of marriage and respects the associated boundaries. As a young man, it seems many young women were falling over themselves for him putting a ring on their finger, and there’s no shame in acknowledging he courted many – with the permission of their mothers. But he never crossed the line and certainly never made a move on a married woman, unlike Al Franken!

Dotty, hardly any Indian migrants actually own Domino’s, HJ and Caltex stores. They take over the management of existing stores.

  9. Stimpson J. Cat

They buy existing franchises to qualify for a business migration visa. They then employ Indian students on cash and allow them to work more than the 20 hours allowed on a student visa. Then the student learns that if they dob in their boss they can collect a compensation payout and not have to work at all.

Or, they simply pay the business owner to employ them. There are restaurants out there which are basically a money-laundering scam.

Let’s take your claim at face value.

…and why would the managers give them a job, particularly management?

Because they are irrevocably unable to assimilate?

That said, some Indian migrants own these franchises. That isn’t a bad thing, either.

  15. Ragu

It’s one of the biggest scams ever pulled in Australia.

A hundred million dollars was spent on re-turfing and drainage for Eagle Farm, nothing was spent on Doomben. Literally nothing. The Board of QLD racing is made up entirely of ALP members.

A hundred acres has been sold and it’s all to the benefit of the Labor Party.

    Que?

A close, moving target requires a lot of sweeping angle change to follow and hit. Further away somewhat, especially if the line of movement is away, allows one to settle into the sighting the shot instead of chasing big movement.
Its obviously not true for big distances and small targets.

I think the reference was to all those student and their spouses gaining PR , then taking entry level jobs washing cars, making and delivering pizza and parcels then bringing out their elderly parents on a six for two basis to enjoy the fruits of the Australian welfare state.

No one is defending that. Nor is this done by a “vast majority” of migrants.

  19. Fisky

Dotty, I think you might be autising again. We are discussing the operations of a particular migration scam, and how it actually plays out on the ground. You don’t have anything to bring to the discussion, which is why you are off on a tangent about assimilation.

Suneel Kumar Kocherla, 41, said he lost around $30,000 to Global Skills, which promised to help him find a regional job.

He was desperate to find a way to remain in the country two years ago and searched for recruitment companies. He accepted a contract with Global Skills and agreed to pay $40,000.

In return, Global Skills agreed to provide “recruitment services” that included “gathering CVs and requesting references”, “facilitating interviews and placement opportunities” and “supporting the offer and acceptance process”. A job is not guaranteed, however clients are entitled to a refund of their fees paid less reasonable expenses if employment lasts for less than 12 months.

In April 2015, he received a written job offer from the chief executive of a landscaping company on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast.

A “letter of engagement” sighted by SBS and Fairfax Media purports to show the landscaping business offering him a job. The company’s boss said he had never heard of Mr Raskovic or his company Global Skills. “Never have I entered into an agreement with anyone to do with that stuff,” the firm’s boss said.

Asked to respond to the allegations, Mr Raskovic said he had advice not to talk. He did not respond to written questions.

After several other jobs failed to eventuate, Mr Kocherla, who has two young children, was forced to leave Australia and return to India.

The funny thing is that Pajeet parents are typically healthier than their Western counterparts because they actually are used to walking.

Where did ‘vast majority’ come from.

I am surrounded by retail premises where FOB Indians are doing all the ‘menial’ jobs in businesses owed by other Indians.

Then there are the ones that rent shops and still after 12 months of paying rent have failed to actually open or the business is patently fake, just going through the motions till whatever the residency requirements are met. Though they are all sorts, some ME some Chinese.

Everybody who works in an industry that is connected to migration knows exactly what is going on. It is a blatant scam. I’m not in retail, where I’m sure the scam is off-the-charts unbelievable, but the tertiary sector is being debased by this stupidity. The number of students coming in studying courses that they have no interest in, will never work in, etc, is enormous. There are some distortions occurring in all intakes – such as the Korean tiling, Chinese accountant, and all-of-the-above commercial cookery pathways – but I have never seen such extreme cases as with the Indian intake.

We have to take a step back and ask ourselves – is our country absolutely crying out for a huge workforce of low-paid retail workers with master’s degrees??? I don’t think that’s what our future requires. .

  37. Tom

American mainstream media opinion polling is now a propaganda exercise designed to make Trump look bad, where samples are routinely stacked with 12-15% more Democrat voters than GOP voters – the same sample than voted in Obambi in 2008, not the 0-2% D+ that voted in 2016. And yet what is never mentioned is that, in spite of the sample cheating, Trump is still more popular than the political dregs running other countries:

A close, moving target requires a lot of sweeping angle change to follow and hit. Further away somewhat, especially if the line of movement is away, allows one to settle into the sighting the shot instead of chasing big movement.

If we are talking about the target moving either left to right or right to left across the line of sight of the sniper, the speed of the target is the factor here rather than the distance. However if the target is moving directly toward or away from the sniper, then the target will be easier to hit as it moves toward the sniper rather than away from him.

Despite being the most educated generation ever to walk the face of the planet, at least according to their tuition bills paid by mom and dad, a staggering number of millennials still can’t seem to land a steady job. Moreover, despite the steadily improving labor market, as the USA Today points out, the outlook for millennials continues to inexplicably deteriorate with 20% of 26-34 year olds currently living at home with mom versus only 17% back in 2012.

Queensland Labor will slug the “top end of town”, foreigners, and gambling companies with four new taxes worth $500m if it wins the election, but has no new plan to pay down debt – in defiance of a promise by the Premier.

Treasurer Curtis Pitt this afternoon announced Labor’s costings, which includes four new taxes to raise cash to pay for its $2.78bn in election promises – as well as to reduce the state’s total debt of $81bn by just $135m in 2020-21.

The new taxes include bumping up the transfer duty on foreign buyers of Queensland property from 3 per cent to 7 per cent, which will raise an extra $33m a year for three years.

The top 850 landholders in Queensland (not including farms) worth over $10m will be hit with a new land tax of 2.25 per cent for individuals and 2.5 per cent for trusts, companies or absentee landholders. That new tax is expected to raise $227m over three years.

Buyers of luxury cars will also be hit by a new tax, to raise more than $75m over three years, and betting companies will be taxed with a new 15 per cent charge on the net wagering revenue, to raise $90m over three years.

Mr Pitt was not able to name any new ways he would pay down debt. His own forecasts show debt is still expected to rise each year for the next four years – on both the government’s preferred general government sector debt measure and the total debt measure.

“The debt action plan we had will continue,” he said.

Instead of topping $81bn in 2020-21, total debt will reach $80.87bn by 2020-21.

Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has said – as recently as this morning – that were would be a new debt reduction action plan.

As Winston says, this should be flogged like a redhaired stepchild.

Predictably, the wicketkeeper who hasn’t kept all year aside from a low grade warm up match spills a catch off Lyon’s bowling. A stock standard chance that you’d expect to be taken at grade level, let alone international.

  83. To force a woman to carry a pregnancy to term and then birth a child against her will is to literally colonise her body.

Notice the absence of ‘her’, as in her child, rather than a child, as if it were just anyone’s child but her own that she was carrying. The thing is, though, if it is morally wrong to force her to carry and birth her child, as if parents were under no moral obligation to care for their own child, why is she under any obligation to care for the child after birth? Not only that, why is it morally wrong for her to simply kill the child and throw it in the bin if she changes her mind at any moment? If women are “living, breathing human beings with hopes and dreams and the right to shape our own lives” why should any of this be hampered by a 6 month old 12, or a 36 month old?

  84. Marcus

Just watched it on replay. Very poor attempt by the keeper.

Honestly, it was the height of stupidity dropping Peter Nevill a year ago. He was doing a fine job as ‘keeper and was adequate with the bat, but the selectors decided they wanted an “aggressive” Aussie sledger so they went with the biggest bogan with a pair of gloves. Of course he couldn’t keep well and his batting fell off, so now they’re going with Paine because he’s the best batting ‘keeper in the country … even though he’s stuck behind the bogan with the gloves at Tasmania!

Saying that, Paine’s still generally a pretty good ‘keeper. That was a bad miss but I expect he’ll get back to his best as the game wears on.

Look, the problem with immigration is this:

We have all these lovely ethnic people, unhappy with the conditions in their native countries.
    What is the solution?
Not to try and fix the problems, but to go to where the white people are.

You want to send a lefty apoplectic then point out middle class values are what gives people the best shot at a good life and race is irrelevant.

Not long after I started trolling them with this I found an article that explained it better.

    https://www.brookings.edu/opinions/three-simple-rules-poor-teens-should-follow-to-join-the-middle-class/
Let politicians, schoolteachers and administrators, community leaders, ministers and parents drill into children the message that in a free society, they enter adulthood with three major responsibilities: at least finish high school, get a full-time job and wait until age 21 to get married and have children.
Our research shows that of American adults who followed these three simple rules, only about 2 percent are in poverty and nearly 75 percent have joined the middle class (defined as earning around $55,000 or more per year). There are surely influences other than these principles at play, but following them guides a young adult away from poverty and toward the middle class.

When they object call them racists as middle class values dont presuppose being white to work.
They generally dont reply after that.

A boycott of Streets products organised by the AMWU has forced Streets Ice Cream back to the negotiating table and the Aussie workers have – it would appear – won a major victory against employers who wanted to cut wages and conditions.

In the words of the ABC, ‘The AMWU launched a social media campaign with the hashtag #streesfreesummer, which forced Streets to cancel publicity regarding their latest product and led to a slew of bad publicity.’

This all sounds a bit too glib and simplistic to me – social media campaign by savvy unions SJWs forces multinational to its knees – particularly as the report gives no details of the actual new agreement – Ten news mentioned redundancies – and the boycott had only been in place for about three weeks.

The person — who often retweets pro-President Donald Trump messages — has claimed “corrupt police” took his or her medicine, that someone attempted to kill him or her with a car, and appears to have a fascination with actor Corey Feldman.

In the initial tweet that sparked the brouhaha, the Twitter user linked the image of Barton with a separate image of a clothed woman, suggesting the two were involved, with a cryptic message: “I don’t like being harassed by these 2.”

Does anyone else feel there is a certain – familiarity about Unusual Source ?

Maybe Stimpson is a vile wamen hating misogynistic evil hating ‘dick’.

    I doubt that.

If you look at what he says, and I’m sure he doesn’t need me to defend him, he merely plays traditional beliefs against each and every one of them.

But your comment is allowing me to raise a question that I would like to know the opinion of folk on this site.

Someone quoted up thread another screaming harpie about not wanting some ‘evil’ thing squirming in their womb.

    If that is the case then I, a male, firstly want to know why marxists don’t have their wombs removed;
secondly, I want to know why women who have sex with a man are not taking or using some form of contraceptive?

It actually pisses me to tears to even know that some folk with vaginas and tits are screaming about MEN.

Do they not understand that without a man they would not exist?

I actually think it weird beyond belief that 2 men think they ‘can have a baby to raise’.

2 women I can actually understand.

Despite this farce of a poll run by some useless gubmint department it does not mean we will have ssm.

The country shoppers made a huge mistake going on Twitter, now we can actually read their garbage unfiltered. Their problem is they don’t really understand how they are perceived, and the activists who believe their bullshit 100% (or pretend to) can’t honestly give them the low-down either.
