Plibbershit is a horrid boil on the anus of humanity. Her dope dealing husband is in charge of the Ed Dept in NSW.

Not quite. Things are worse than you say.
The 19 year old Michael Coutts-Trotter was sentenced to a 9-year prison sentence in 1986, after his conviction for heroin importation and distribution.
He served less than 3 years.
He went to work for State Labor ministers Michael Egan and John Della Bosca. He “rose” to a senior management position in the Dept of Commerce. He had no educational qualifications.
Della Bosca appointed him to director of Education at a time his “working with children check” would prevent him from teaching.

    A political animal.
He is currently director-general of the New South Wales Department of Family and Community Services.

Surprised by how good Deb Knight was on 2GB this arvo. I just kind of assumed a commercial TV news person would be a total leftie but she doesn’t seem to be.

I lost respect for Craig Kelly today. He’s my local MP and I’ve supported him for years but this was the end. Yes the electorate voted 58% for but Kelly was supposed to be against it. So much for his beliefs…he could have at least abstained like Hastie or Abbott.

Today is actually a good day for marriage.

Marriages are now very exclusive things. Most Australians are wed at god awful events in a park or beach which everyone of sound mind hates with a passion. Only a very exclusive club have proper and sound marriages. Let’s meep it that way.

  22. Chris Kenny reports that “…a majority of Coalition MPs endorsed 7 amendments aimed at enforcing greater religious freedoms, but all failed to win support in the Parliament”.

So..the LNP lost a vote in the House, and the LNP is split on enforcing religious freedoms. Labor must have opposed the amendments too.

This to me is big news, but hasn’t generated much interest in the media.

I listened to some of that during Hastie’s ammendments. Labor and Green arguments were “love is love” but to their credit Andrew Hastie, Tony Abbott, Kevin Andrews and I think it was Michael Sukkar that I heard made really, really good speeches. Of course then you had Trent Zimmerman and his speech was interrupted by cheering from the gallery in his favour. The Speaker didn’t do his job and kick them out. 40. zyconoclast

    Today’s young Kennedys.

If it wasn’t for the name, what else would they have?

Joe Kennedy : Smuggler or Bootlegger?
    Conclusion

Perhaps history will show that Joe Kennedy did nothing illegal during Prohibition. That he was a small time bootlegger for his Harvard reunion and for his friends using his family’s legal supply from before Prohibition. That he imported medicinal liquor in the last year of Prohibition. And nothing more. So far no serious, scholarly biography of Joseph Patrick Kennedy lends credence to him as a major bootlegger or smuggler during Prohibition. But gangster biographies and autobiographies see it differently and rumors are presented as fact.

Perhaps Kennedy was more like brewer Jacob Ruppert? Ruppert’s pre-Prohibition brewery in Yorkville was forced to shut down from 1920-33 but resumed business immediately after repeal. Just as Patrick Kennedy shut-down his 30 year old Boston liquor importing business in 1920 and his son Joseph resumed the family business of importing liquor in 1933.

Both Kennedy and Ruppert were legitimate businessmen from ethnic communities (Irish-American and German-American) which opposed Prohibition. New York City bootleggers and smugglers, like Lansky, Costello, Madden, Zwillman, and Reinfeld, were from similar urban ethnic communities — Irish, German, Jewish, and Italian.

These communities sparked the informal, significant, initial resistance to Prohibition from the start. Eventually politicians caught up with the reality of a continued demand for liquor and repealed the 18th Amendment.

In fact, the expansion of prior revisionist conspiracy theories to include so many new allegations of wrong-doing by Roosevelt and his mid and high level co-conspirators plus a continuing cover-up makes its enormous conspiracy theory a complete impossibility.

In conclusion, it is still clear that no U.S. official knew beforehand of the Japanese plans to attack Pearl Harbor or discovered that the KIDO BUTAI was on its way to Hawaii for such an attack in spite of this latest in a series of revisionist conspiracy theory books.

This grant of power authorizes the president to decide who should be investigated and prosecuted and who not. presidents including John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, Franklin Roosevelt, John Kennedy and Barack Obama have exercised this authority by instructing the Justice Department to investigate and prosecute individuals or groups — and not to investigate or prosecute others. Some have exercised that authority wisely, others not. But none have committed the crime of obstruction of justice by trying to influence prosecutorial decisions.

President George H.W. Bush stopped an investigation in its tracks — an investigation that could have pointed directly to criminal action by him during the Iran Contra scandal — when he pardoned Casper Weinberger and five others crucial witnesses that could have pointed the finger at him. The special prosecutor, Lawrence Walsh, was furious at this decision, claiming that it was intended to, and did, stop the investigation. Yet no one suggested that President Bush be charged with obstruction of justice, because in pardoning those witnesses he was exercising his constitutional authority under Article II.

  97. Oh come on

Lol so you found the time to explain it to me in great detail? And that’s it? OK, brace yourself, the following is going to come as a shock:

    Manafort isn’t turning.

Flynn has pled to a relatively petty process crime that doesn’t get Mueller anywhere near Trump. (Lying to the FBI is what the FBI charge you with when they don’t have anything else to charge you with – just ask Martha Stewart. Flynn is unquestionably guilty of failing to hire a decent lawyer.)

The WH is denying Trump’s bank records have been subpoenaed. Which would be a really, really weird and inexplicable thing to do if they had been.

  98. Oh come on

No, fisky! m0nty knows better than venerable Harvard law professor Alan Dershowitz!

Just give it up, m0nty. It’s beyond pathetic. At this rate you’ll be Victoria’s first ‘voluntary’ euthanasia candidate. Some doctor will rightly take pity on you and put you out of your misery.

  99. Fisky

Poor old Dersh. Possibly the heaviest hitter out of all the liberal legal experts and it always falls to him to break the bad news to his fellow Leftists whenever they go into a frenzy about something law-related. “Nope, sorry guys, Zimmerman’s definitely going to walk….No, Trump’s not going to jail either. Scratch that.”

That’s why he earns the big bucks!

  100. Slayer of Memes

Back in January, mOnty was positive that Trump wouldn’t make it half a year…

Then in July, he was absolutely sure Trump wouldn’t make it to Christmas…

Now in December, he is crowing that Trump won’t make it to the mid-terms (July 2018)…

The real reason why he has to take so many breaks from posting here after one of his predictions is because it’s hard work digging up, and then shifting, all those goalposts constantly…

And what did we find gracious acceptance of the will of the people.

The politeness and general acceptance of most of Australian society is one of its defining characteristics. Which is one of the reasons the Love is love Yes case got up because most people (rightly or wrongly) were convinced that what same sex couples are doing is not hurting me so what the hell.

    * Actually it isn’t, but it’s infuriatingly typical, nonetheless.

  178. notafan

Gays have been treated as couples for Centrelink purposes since forever.

Well since they kicked up a stink about carer’s pension and the government recognised them as defacto for all payments

  179. This wasn’t on or about the day of your wedding?

Hardly. Mrs MV’s sole bridesmaid was my sister!

Besides, if I ever pulled a stunt like that – at my wedding or any time in the 40 years thereafter – I wouldn’t have any ears – Mrs MV would have cut them off. Along with certain other appendages.

Mrs MV has strong views on marriage fidelity. She is also a dab hand with a filleting knife.

    Yes yes Monty

Muellergate takes a new turn …

DOJ Demotes Official Over Trump Dossier Contacts.

The Department of Justice has demoted a top official over his contacts with the former British spy who authored the Trump dossier as well as with Fusion GPS, the opposition research firm that commissioned the salacious document.

Fox News reports that Bruce G. Ohr was removed from his position as associate deputy attorney general on Wednesday. Ohr, who worked in close proximity to Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, had contacts last year with dossier author Christopher Steele as well as with Glenn Simpson, the co-founder of Fusion GPS.

According to Fox News, Ohr met Steele at some point during the presidential campaign. He met Simpson around Thanksgiving 2016. During that coffee meeting, Simpson and Ohr reportedly discussed the dossier, the Trump investigation and Simpson’s frustration with Trump’s electoral victory.

  182. Snoopy

Trump hasn’t tolerated members of his administration that have shown themselves to be duds Why hasn’t Trump fired Jeff Sessions? Sure from almost the day he was appointed there’s been lots of rumours of Sessions imminent demise. But nothing.

Now just imagine if Sessions isn’t the doddering doofus he’s made out be. Imagine if Sessions’ decision to recuse himself from the Russiagate investigation was not due to stupidly or cowardice.

What has been the consequence? An emboldened Democrat aligned elite within the FBI and DOJ breaking cover in their rush to hang Trump. An elite that is now being picked off one by one demonstrating to the professional agents in the FBI that the hitherto all powerful Democrat cabal can no longer touch them.

    The flood is coming.

NSW ALP forgetting Wran ‘hollow logs’ ?

Now, there’s a fascinating tale and a long standing public policy debate.

Wran never went anywhere without a chequebook (the NSW one) and a photographer.

He and his bureaucrats discovered that there was money squirrelled away by various authorities against a rainy day. Well, it came down in buckets on them.

The contents of the hollow logs were very useful for buying votes.

In an ‘over-lawyer-ed’ place like the US, I find it hard to believe that, Trump’s legal reps. were not informed, or didn’t have a hint of what was going on. He is not an avg. Joe for that bank.

Plibber’s is as miserable as you would guess.

And hasn’t the misery piled on the pounds-very frumpish looking and for the same reason as Magda has piled on the pounds – Misery likes company- Tanya Plibersek is caught in the way Mark Latham was caught – in denying their true self by remaining captives of the stultifying immoral morass which is the parliamentary Labor Party – Richo has a column today about the corrosive and corruptive influence of hunger for power for its own sake and who knows perhaps Plibber’s knows she’s for the high jump if all is revealed in the S.44 debacle engulfing this current illegitimate parliament.

Regarding the homosexual marriage perhaps we will have a SSM-led economic recovery. Certainly a close family member will have the whole thing sewn up – my close family member is a marriage celebrant, a lawyer, a poet and a rad DJ and to top it off is married to the most amazing couturier and vegan culinary apothecary – so there’s the formal wear and catering angle – what more is there? Good luck to them I say.

  203. Gays have been treated as couples for Centrelink purposes since forever.

Yes. And no, Nota. It’s true that any couple, regardless of sexual orientation, living as a couple, can be assessed as a couple by Centrelink. However, Centrelink no longer push or police it, and haven’t done so for over a decade**, so the only way an unmarried couple, regardless of sexual orientation, are going to be assessed as a couple is if they march into a Centrelink office and sign a counter statement proclaiming that they are a couple. And yes, sometimes people do this.
