what is the bet that Monty the US political savant was all over this talking point

Woman has to pay $12/month for birth control. Democrats: This is the greatest social crisis of the modern era.

and of course now nods along like a bobble headed doll along with this one

Family keeps extra $18/week under GOP tax reform. Democrats: $18 is literally nothing how dare you suggest it will help people.

Vicpol dealing with the big issues

I bet their PR section is working double double overtime

Victoria Police would like to re-iterate that the 24-year-old arrested on Flinders Street yesterday was not involved or connected with the initial incident. Can you please refrain from writing defamatory comments.

“MELBOURNE will see a noticeably beefed-up presence around the CBD”.

Why, if it was just an isolated incident and nothing to worry about?

    Liars.

  10. Infidel Tiger

Victorian Police should all be forced to act as human shields at every pedestrian crossing.

If they continue to lie to us they must be treated as the enemy.

  11. Makka

So it wasn’t terror related. Nothing to do with Islam. Yet ……

Police to ramp up counter-terror investigations in wake of Flinders Street attack

ACCUSED Flinders Street attacker Saeed Noori “rambled” about Allah and ASIO from his hospital bed, police claim.

Victoria Police would like to re-iterate that the 24-year-old arrested on Flinders Street yesterday was not involved or connected with the initial incident. Can you please refrain from writing defamatory comments.

You’re too incompetent and politicised to believe.
If you can’t find the connection with this muslim terrorist and the muslim Jihad terrorism against the west, (Hint, it’s starts with M) when he told you that’s why he did it, why would we believe you about anything?

Don’t you love the Victorian Police.
Can’t call it terrorism but demands that it’s findings are the final say.

  14. notafan

Be clear struth the 24 yo was the one arrested with cannibis and three knives in his bag who has been charged and released on bail

not Saeed Noori who is still in custody

  15. Roger

Do VocPol believe their lies or are they trying to deceive the public in order to protect the Muslim community from scrutiny?

What threats have Muslim community leaders made to VicPol about withdrawing cooperation if the “no link to terrorism, mental illness” line is not promoted after every “incident”?

Do VicPol believe that mental illness, drug use and jihadism are mutually incompatible?

Do we have any curious journalists in this country prepared to ask these questions?

  16. notafan

I mentioned last night that if Saeed Noori was an habitual user of ice he certainly doesn’t look very worse for wear with it

a few addicts around here, not hard to pick on appearance

No doubt the drugs mental health is getting a talk up

and we all know who gets geed up to do jihadi acts

the worst sinners the weak minded

  17. Nick

    Thunderbolt and lightning:

The alleged attacker not only spoke about mistreatment of Muslims, Mr Patton said, he also referenced Allah and ASIO.

  18. Oh come on

Nota, US corporations seemed to get by pretty well subject to a 35% tax plus state taxes on their profits – imagine what is going to happen when their tax rates are cut by 14 percentage points!! The place is going to go off like a rocket. It will be impossible to deny this. Yet the Dems are saying it’s going to be the end of the world; that it’s the worst piece of Congressional legislation *ever*! (Some say apart from the 1850 Fugitive Slave Act, some make no exceptions – that the Trump tax cuts are the worst!)

This will not end well for the hysterical Dems. I had pretty much assumed the GOP would lose control of the House in the mid-terms – that seems to be the cyclical pattern. But now they’ve made so many ridiculous doom-and-gloom prognostications about the tax cuts, they are now totally owned by the GOP. If the corporate tax cuts have the effect they should, the Dems have completely divorced themselves from the tax relief package and the GOP can (and will) claim all the credit for the benefits of the markedly lower corporate tax rate. Of course, the personal tax cuts are all well and good but the massive corporate tax cut is where it’s at.

I now think the GOP stands a reasonable shot at holding the House as the Dems have painted themselves into the worst possible corner. Not only will they be remembered as implacable opponents of the bill’s passage, but their hysterical statements about how it would result in a whole manner of calamities will contrast very, very unfavourably with reality.

  19. Nick

If someone makes homophobic remarks you can bet Vicpol will be onto it in a second.

Do we have any curious journalists in this country prepared to ask these questions?

The challenge that this terrible incident poses to all of us is clear, though it’s far from black and white. We must avoid leaping to easy, knee-jerk conclusions, and instead have the bravery and wisdom to grapple with complexities. We must avoid retreating into our shells and instead reach outwards, because suspicion is the solvent of social cohesion. We must demand our political leaders elevate mental health and drug abuse issues to the same level of importance as the threat of terrorism.

    No, I don’t think so.

  22. Oh come on

It’s well documented that Al Qaeda in Iraq used to dope their suicide bombers up on all kinds of things before an attack. This guy being a drug user doesn’t necessarily preclude Islamic extremism as a motive.

Koran 5:33 “Maim and crucify the infidels if they criticize Islam”
Koran 8:12 “Terrorize and behead those who believe in scriptures other than the Koran.”
Koran 8:60 “Muslims must muster ALL WEAPONS to terrorize infidels.”
Koran 8:65 “The unbelievers are stupid; urge the Muslims to fight them.”
Koran 9:5 “When opportunity arises, kill the infidels wherever you catch them.”
Koran 9:28 “The infidels are unclean; do not let them into a mosque.”
Koran 9:30 “The Jews and the Christians are perverts; fight them.”
Koran 9:123 “Make war on the infidels living in your neighborhood.”

Mike, buddy, big fan, long time listener – my question – how do you wake up every morning and resist the urge to swallow a bullet knowing that your lasting memory on this planet will amount to nothing more than a fecal stain on humanity?

Hi Mike! Thanks for doing this AMA. Question that’s been bugging me, did you title your book “Gorilla Mindset” because Gorillas are one of the few animals that can’t recognize themselves in the mirror?

Mike, just FYI, you call everyone who hates you a “liberal” or a “leftist.” I am a lifelong Republican. Do you realize that everyone who hates you isn’t necessarily a “libtard” and some of us just realize that you’re a conman and a huckster who lives in a basement?

Hey Mike, what’s it like knowing that history will remember you as a powerfully stupid grifter who lives off alimony?

Why does your ex wife still pay all your bills? And when are you going to jail for forging court documents?

Are you genuinely an awful person or are you just trying to sell books?

Hey Thernovich, huge fan, love the work you do, long time lithener, firth time caller here (you’re like Hunter S. Thompson for the 21st century, baby) Do you think your haters would treat you with more respect if you still had your testicles?

I think it’s interesting that you identify with gorillas because they have abnormally small penises compared to humans. I’m sure those feelings of extreme inferiority build up and sometimes you just can’t stand it anymore and have to let those feelings out in destructive and unhealthy ways. Is it those feelings of inferiorty that caused you to batter a woman?

    .. and my favourite:

For a guy who hates socialism so much, how do you feel about being publicly owned?

No, the regular cops bring him in to the station where the politicised higher ups say, we’ll take it from here, constable.
After an hour or so after the constable has left the station and continued his duties, the politics gets played, and any manner of reasons get explained behind the scenes to the lower plodder.
I bet he had no dope on him at all but they used that as an excuse for taking him in after a call from Dan or his cronies, to tell the cops that for “social cohesion” this must be seen as a lone wolf mental illness issue………………………………….or similar situation.

United Nations urges Australia to fix Manus Island refugee ‘mess’ as hundreds toil in unsafe camps
    Reuters, News Corp Australia
    December 22, 2017 9:54PM

THE UN refugee agency is accusing Australia of abandoning hundreds of refugees and asylum seekers on Papua New Guinea’s Manus Island, saying it must take responsibility for the mess it’s created with its “offshore processing” system.

About 800 refugees are still in a precarious situation on Manus Island, having been forcibly removed from a holding camp last month when Australia decided to close it, UNHCR spokeswoman Cecile Pouilly told a regular UN briefing in Geneva on Friday.

“We are talking here about people who have suffered tremendously, extreme trauma, and are now feeling so insecure in the places where they are staying. There are many victims of torture, people who have been deeply traumatised, having no idea what is going to happen next to them,” she said.

“In light of the continued perilous situation on Papua New Guinea’s Manus Island for refugees and asylum seekers abandoned by Australia, UNHCR has called again this week on the Australian government to live up to its responsibility and urgently find humane and appropriate solutions.”

Handing the “refugees” over to the United Nations not an option?

Handing the “refugees” over to the United Nations not an option?

A few years ago the UNHCR withdrew from its operations with 8000 refugees from Indonesian Papua in PNG and signed a memorandum of understanding with the PNG government for their continued residency, stating it was “very happy” with the outcome.

Apparently what was good enough for West Papuans is not good enough for MENA country shoppers.

The UNHCR is simply playing politics and attempting to embarrass Australia; we should withdraw from the Convention and tell them to get fucked…politely, of course.

The UK voted for the UNGA resolution condemning the US for moving its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. The UNSC is the only world forum where the UK still has superpower clout. The UK loves the UN. It’ll never leave.

As for us, well Oz was gutless enough to abstain from the General Assembly vote to bite the hand that feeds it. Freaking Nauru had the balls to vote against the motion. Not us. At least we didn’t vote with the Euro-weenies, but still. We still think it’s a great, great honour to be elected to the UNSC! We also love the UN.

I don’t think the US should leave the UN. However, I think they should evict the UN building from US soil and vastly reduce their funding contribution to around 5% of the UN’s operating expenses, as US citizens make up around 5% of the world’s population. The UN is a useless entity. The US should stop trying to corral it into a moral direction. It’s a lost cause. Withdrawing from UNESCO was a good start – the US should do the same to the other corrupt, politicised UN agencies. If the UN wants to condemn the US, fine. See how it travels without the US disproportionately bankrolling it.

In any case, the overhead belts, shafts, etc. are a fair way off the floor. Did this person have hair like Marge Simpson?

Speaking of obliterated, and forgive the repetition, but I didn’t want to be parochial on the tax cut issue so:

Kennedy (That would be JFK, a Democrat) Tax Cuts

President Hoover dramatically increased tax rates in the 1930s and President Roosevelt compounded the damage by pushing marginal tax rates to more than 90 percent. Recognizing that high tax rates were hindering the economy, President Kennedy proposed across-the-board tax rate reductions that reduced the top tax rate from more than 90 percent down to 70 percent. What happened? Tax revenues climbed from $94 billion in 1961 to $153 billion in 1968, an increase of 62 percent (33 percent after adjusting for inflation).

Maybe an earlier example? The US didn’t start continuously taxing income until 1913 so there isn’t much to chose from so lets start in the 1920s.

The tax cuts of the 1920s

Tax rates were slashed dramatically during the 1920s, dropping from over 70 percent to less than 25 percent. What happened? Personal income tax revenues increased substantially during the 1920s, despite the reduction in rates. Revenues rose from $719 million in 1921 to $1164 million in 1928, an increase of more than 61 percent.

In the 104 years of US income taxation major lowering of taxes has been tried 3 times, with resounding success each time. Bring on number 4.

She was tramping down wool in a bale on November 29 at shearing shed near Gulargambone when her hair, which was tied back in a bun, became caught around the spinning shaft of the overhead shearing gear.

Gilgandra shearing contractor, Steve Mudford, who wasn’t present at the time of the accident, said Casey was visiting the shed and had decided to lend a hand during a busy time.

She was an experienced shed rouseabout.

and Their ABC – who cannot spell in the Australian Idiom.

Casey Barnes was working at a shed in central-west New South Wales and was pushing wool down into a wool pack when she was injured.

Despite the fact her hair had been placed in a bun, her hair was caught in an electric motor located above her.

The motor has a belt drive that runs the handpieces so shearers can shear.

FWIW – TheirABC indicates she brushed the motor itself with her head – and the inevitable happened.

I have to leave the layout of the shed and the practice of jumping on to a baling machine positioned under an operating motor and drive to the rural experts.

FWIW 2.0 – my understanding of the workplace safety regulations in NSW pretty much mean the owner of the property and, maybe, the contractor are about to be deemed guilty unless they can prove innocence in respect of the duty of care.

  184. In fact the links between mental illness, drug use and jihadism have been demonstrated again and again when the biographies of the perpetrators have been examined.

Some years ago I read an interesting article by Theodore Dalrymple (alias for Anthony Daniels) who wrote about his experiences as a consulting physician in UK gaols in respect to the Muslim (mostly Pakistani) inmates. I recall that he described a disproportionately high (even amongst poor ethnic groups) of Muslims who suffered from mental illness. This is similar to the findings of Danish psychologist Nicolai Sennels who worked in Danish prisons. I believe both speculated that consanguine marriages may have exacerbated the poor health outcomes.

Three times around the decks of the ‘Ovation of the Seas’ on the marked track was about a mile on their charts. You can do it in kms too. Miss America CEO Suspended After Vulgar Emails About Contestants Revealed

What did he did do.. What did he say?

There doesn’t seem to be any weinsteining, just said unkind things about some gals. You can’t even be unkind anymore.

In the emails reported by HuffPost, Haskell jokes about renaming former Miss America winners (who are labeled by the organization as “Forever Miss Americas) “C—s” and calls former winners a “pile of malcontents.” In one email, he suggested that a recently deceased Miss America “should have been Kate Shindle” — who became Miss Illinois in 1998 and is now an actress.

References to Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade blimps were also very, very thoughtless and uncaring.

On at least two occasions, Haskell made negative comments about former Miss America Mallory Hagan’s weight, in one case saying she was preparing for a career “as a blimp in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade.”

A 16-year-old schoolboy was taken prisoner and beaten viciously while onlookers cried “Kill him!” after his relationship with a Pakistani girl was discovered by her relatives.

The girl’s 29-year-old brother, Khizum Baig, 29-year-old cousin, Saqib Mirza Baig, 37-year-old uncle, Ghazanfar Mirza, and 48-year-old father, Mirza Baig, are said to have shouted “Don’t mess with our blood” and “find someone your own kind” as they battered her Bengali boyfriend with weapons and kicked him repeatedly in the head in an isolated cul-de-sac.

Onlookers including women are reported to have urged the men to “Kill him, kick him in the head, finish him off” as the attack unfolded.

Latest launch of Spacex Dragon 9

    Here you go:

SpaceX caps a record year with 18th successful launch of 2017

SpaceX has completed its 18th launch in 2017, marking a record year for the private space company. It’s the most rockets SpaceX has launched in a single year, beating its previous best by ten missions.

The launch today was for client Iridium, delivering 10 satellites to low Earth orbit for its Iridium NEXT communications constellation. This is the fourth such mission that SpaceX has flown for the company, and the rocket used for this mission was a flight proven Falcon 9 that previously flew in June for the second Iridium mission. Iridium was also the client for SpaceX’s first mission of 2017 back in January – its first flight following a pre-launch accident last September that cost it its rocket and the payload, a Facebook internet satellite.

The next big milestone for SpaceX is coming up quickly: The company is hoping to launch its very first Falcon Heavy rocket in January, 2018. The rocket, which has a tremendous heavy load capacity, is already undergoing preparations for launch at Florida’s Cape Canaveral Air Force base – preparations which include loading its payload, an original cherry red Tesla Roadster.

Not many Tesla charging stations in low earth orbit.
