    About time. Trump supports anti Ayatollah protestors in Iran. Roger Simon writes that this highlights the difference between Trump and Obama. Obama wanted to cut a deal with the Mullahs so bad that he sold the Iranian people down the river. Trump supports the people against their Shi’a, Islamist, terror funding, war exporting, oppressive government. Hopefully the Iranian people can overthrow their leaders.

    John

    Roger Simon also made reference to Obama “secretly communicating with Ahmadinejad and Khamenei even before he took office, hinting at accommodation.” If this is true (I’ve not seen reference to it earlier) then if anyone was engaging in “collusion” with a foreign government, it was Obama. Once again, if you want to know what left fascists are doing, look at what they accuse their opponents of doing.

    Up to 2000 public servants, media sponsors and “hundreds of competition” winners will join Sydney’s Lord Mayor Clover Moore for the harbourside party on December 31 – at a cost of $621,500 to ratepayers.

    In the Oz yesterday:

    Residents say they are too scared to use a park and community centre because it is controlled and trashed by local youths, leading its frustrated owners to consider selling it rather than pay soaring maintenance costs.

    The community centre in Tarneit’s small Ecoville Park estate in Melbourne’s west was built seven years ago but residents say it has become a meeting point for local young people over the past year.

    Extensive damage, including graffiti with the gang-related Menace to Society tag, started to escalate three months ago. Recently the glass panels of the building were smashed, they say.

    Residents told The Australian that groups of young men of African appearance gathered in the park most nights, smashing property and leaving rubbish.

    A playground recently was set on fire and cars parked nearby have had windscreens cracked.

    Twenty years ago, Hasbro, a major American toy manufacturing company, tested a playhouse it hoped to market to both boys and girls. It soon emerged that girls and boys did not interact with the structure in the same way. The girls dressed the dolls, kissed them, and played house. The boys catapulted the toy baby carriage from the roof. A Hasbro manager came up with a novel explanation: “Boys and girls are different.”

    Miranda Devine in the Telegraph is pleased that all the predictions about Malcolm Turnbull have not come to pass. This shows how wrong the right-leaning commentators are, apparently. Perhaps it merely shows what a shallow gene pool the Libs now paddle in, and how few viable leaders they have in the wings.
    Malcolm’s survival after a near-death experience at the last election has been nothing to do with his long term poll results, which are just as bad as Tony’s. Nothing to do with keeping the rank and file on side. Mostly to do with the lack of party room numbers or appetite for another knifing.

They are going to be distressed, out of pocket and hugely inconvenienced. The doctors union, meanwhile, is eyeing off a massive new cash stream.

    The only interesting thing from an Australian perspective is the possibility that Downer had some connection.

    Until Pres. Trump DECLASSIFIES them! Check Mate.

    Or until someone tries to lay charges based on information obtained under the authority of the FISA warrant and the awkward question of the legal basis of the warrant arises in court.
    It doesn’t matter what obscure DoJ or FBI governing regulation excuses them, when it goes to SCOTUS to have legality determined pursuant to the Constitution …
    Mind you, charges are never going to be laid. This is now just a PR leaking campaign, not a legal investigation.

  90. JC

    Obviously the FBI leaked the Downer bullshit story to create noise and doubt around the the DNC/FBI-Fusion dossier and its role in ginning up a FISA warrant.

    The problem is , if they’re trying on this angle the president, the DOJ or I think even the Congressional committee can request who requested the warrant and why. All the supporting docs will have to be provided too.
    At the very least the president as head of the executive can request this at any time.

    From the BuzzFeed article posted over at Drudge on the Jann Wenner sex abuse story.

    Growing up, Jonathan Wells obsessed over Rolling Stone magazine, especially the poems published in the pages of the “counterculture bible.” He even had his subscription sent to him when he was at boarding school in Switzerland..and he admired the magazine’s famed founder, Jann Wenner. So when the two men struck up a friendship in the early 1980s, Wells considered it “a big deal.”…At one point the two men were left alone in the study and Wenner offered to call a prostitute for them.

    “I was high. I didn’t feel anything,” Wells recently recalled to BuzzFeed News. “I said ‘sure, why not.’”

    Wells said he had shared his childhood history with Wenner, including when Wells’ father, suspecting his son might be gay — an “unbearable thought” for his dad — sent him to a female prostitute shortly after his 14th birthday.

  111. Candy;

    It looks that way.
    For girls with severe period pain, and that is pretty normal for a lot of young females, that is a definite. Doctors advise Panadol now for chronic pain sufferers but that is quite toxic. Can destroy the liver over time.

    Panadol used in small but regular doses is used in chemo because it helps the inflammatory pain of cancer that morphine doesn’t really touch. Any added codeine works through the same biological channels as does the morphine.
    And yes, candy, the Doctors Union has thought this one through – more work for their members, and more occasions of service to bulk bill medicare.
    And such a lovely excuse that I have already encountered – there is an opioid epidemic in the US that has to be squashed.
    So, my predictions are that:
    1. There will be a black market breakout that already exists from pensioners who have Panadiene/Forte/Extra at home along with Oxycodone/Morphine/Fentanyl, etc;
    2. The lists of people who have these scripts will now be worth good money;
    3. More old people, cancer sufferers, etc will be bashed at home for these drugs during home invasions;
    4. The minor problem of codeine abuse will be submerged in the hysteria;
    5. The Injecting Rooms won’t be closed down;
    6. The law enforcement industry will back this to the hilt and the major players in the soon-to-boom drug importing field will continue to operate as they have always done, while the small people who have no political power will endure police checks at home to make sure their S8 drugs are properly secured in steel safes.
    There will be other stuff, but these spring readily to mind.

    Re the Downer kerfuffle, repeat of my earlier post. If the Roger Simon comment is correct, then the D’rats need a yuuuge smokescreen to hide behind.

    Would a Cat or a contributor to the Cat kindly comment (or even produce a piece) on the Boosting affordable housing for Australians through investment tax incentives initiative that was in the last budget and commences from 1 January 2018 – i.e. the pros and cons. Personally the term ‘affordable housing’ gives me the shudders – I wonder if many private landlords will go for this – I see it as being they will have little or no choice over the tenants they want to rent their home as the scheme will be run by ‘Community Housing Providers’. I disclose that I rent my modest investment pad to a young lady and her little girl. However this is through an agent and I had the final choice in the tenant and I am lucky in that a better tenant you would be hard pressed to find. However, I get the feeling that with this scheme come 5-10 years time some investors may find their homes need considerable refurbishing/repair or have declined somewhat in value.

    The AMA’s end game will be to monopolise the prescription of regulated recreational drugs.

    True without a doubt, they want their cut of the action, and feel like they should get protection paid out of other people’s tax money rather than the current drug dealers who pay for their own protection.

    This is why my plan would be to allow households to grow small amounts of various plants for their own consumption while maintaining the prohibition on trade and arresting anyone with large stockpiles or highly refined produce. I’m normally a free market kind of guy, but some goods are harmful, and I would not support the sale of cars with no brakes, nor of electrical appliances without insulation. I do however believe that people should be free to do whatever they want to themselves, and having the ability to grow your own would hammer down the street price and profitability of many other worse drugs such as the various members of the amphetamine family. It would also keep the AMA out of it, and reduce harm to everyone.

    And yes I understand if people were growing their own legally some of it might trade in small quantity over the back fence… but the police could easily be able to keep an eye on any large scale traffic.

    Actually the Pharmacy Guild is against the up-scaling of codeine products to Rx. But yeah, in general, what IT said.

    The Guild’s view is that the decision to up-schedule medicines containing codeine to be available only with a prescription will add to overall healthcare costs and do little to address the misuse of these products by some patients.

    The National President of the Pharmacy Guild, George Tambassis, said the reported decision to up-schedule the medicines was short-sighted and ultimately would only add pressure to the already financially stressed health system while also increasing the burden on already over-worked doctors.

    Left eye dominant and right handed. Oh well, a good excuse for what happened at the range last time. After being less than impressed by my performance I suggested to Mrs Eyrie that we swap rifles. She put 5 rounds through a 20mm or smaller circle at 50 meters and commented that “certainly nothing wrong with this rifle”.

    Would a VR rifle scope kit improve things??

    Not that I’m a shooter but given how cheap the equipment has become I would argue that you bolt a small but high quality digital camera on the top of your gun barrel (make sure it has suitable adjustment screws in the right places) then you clap on a headset that puts the image into BOTH your eyes along with whatever calculation aids you want to throw in with software (for wind, gravity, projectile model, etc).

    Seems to me the most annoying thing about rifles is holding them up to your face, but 100 years ago that made a lot of sense, today there isn’t much need… hold the rifle wherever you feel comfortable.

    Wednesday on Fox News Channel’s The Ingraham Angle, Gold Star father Billy Vaughn praised the loosened rules of engagement President Donald Trump authorized Defense Secretary James Mattis to operate with.

    Vaughn, whose Navy SEAL son, Aaron, was killed in 2011 when his chopper was shot down in Afghanistan, said there was no pre-assault fire the night his son was killed — a result of Obama’s restrictive rules of engagement.

    “[T]hat night, the AC-130 overhead asking to engage multiple times enemy combatants on the ground was not allowed to engage those enemy combatants with weapons and it’s very likely that one of those enemy combatants took that chopper down that night,” Billy Vaughn said of the night his son was killed.

    Under Trump, U.S. forces are no longer required to be in contact with enemy forces before opening fire and fighters on the ground would also have more authority to make decisions, which Vaughn said will help save the lives of military members.

    According to Vaughn, military decisions under Obama were made by people in the White House “who had never seen the theater of war.”

    The story is from the New York Times.
    Obviously the FBI leaked the Downer bullshit story to create noise and doubt around the the DNC/FBI-Fusion dossier and its role in ginning up a FISA warrant. This is a blatant attempt to legally rescue Clinton, Comey and several other FBI bosses – and perhaps even Obama himself – from criminal prosecution. The media will now accept this as the official explanation for the FISA warrant and the FBI will say, ‘so sorry but FISA warrants are classified so you’ll just have to take our word for it.’

    If that’s the angle, major fail.

    Downer got on the turps with Papdopolous in May.
