What’s the top 10 list of stupid things city drivers do on country roads?

    8. Driving with wheels on the crown of the road to avoid corrugations.
This is only for the experienced.

  2. woolfe

Driving on dirt is fun, bit of bum out at corner apply slight opposite steering, feather power (rear 2wd) and reapply on exit.

Coming back from a mine for resupply in my yoof i knew i could take this 1 bend at 100kph, thought stuff it 1 Saturday and set myself up at 110, lost it, rolled , but landed on my wheels. Judicious application of 4WD saw me drive out the bush on my merry way. Only injury was a cut forehead caused by my just emptied beer bottle flying around the cab during my orbit. No seatbelt of course. Woolfe 1, Darwin 0.

  3. Farmer Gez

    Yes indeed IR!
I tie the dog up on highway and use two utes with flashing beacons. The white Ford Tertitory had dog flattener written all over it, and I was given a dirty look by the female passenger as if I had impeded their royal progress.

The Washington Post thinks it has the mother of all gotchas quoting Trump rejecting the importation of JBs from “shithole African countries”. These activist clowns are so far from Main Street USA they think the proles will be outraged that the president is prioritising the safety of Americans. Trump just picked up another percentage point in the daily presidential tracking poll.

  5. Myrddin Seren

“Donald Trump has alarmed US politicians after demanding to know why he should accept immigrants “from s***hole countries” in Africa rather than from places like Norway.”

Just heard this on the radio here.

Media outraged by ‘Trump says s***hole countries ‘.

Real question – why are the Political Class ‘alarmed’ by a merit-based immigration policy ?

Okay – I think the comments upthread by the UN SecGen give us the globalist, replacement Demos view.

Be nice if the open-borders pollies could be pinned by the media on this though.

Greens MP on phone to chief of staff: Fuck! I’ve just run over a dog.
Chief of staff: Where are you?
Greens MP: Getting the fuck out of here as quickly as possible!
COS: Fair enough. How did it happen?
Greens MP: I thought it was Tony Abbott molesting a bunch of sheep so I took my chance.
COS: We’ll work out a way to spin it.

Not so much a matter of city drivers on country roads, but back in the day, I sprung someone filling a four wheel drive from my diesel tank. Challenged, and asked for identification, he produced a license showing a Mount Lawley address, and the excuse “Everyone knows the Government pays for your diesel………”

  8. EvilElvis

    The question was “Why?”

Why, Winston? Because most people without realising it just love being lorded over hence a ridiculous level of regulation under the guise of ‘standards’. Common sense does not apply.

“(Sittin’ On) The Dock of the Bay” is a song co-written by soul singer Otis Redding and guitarist Steve Cropper. It was recorded by Redding twice in 1967, including once just days before his death in a plane crash.

Donald Trump has alarmed US politicians

    Alarm away…………………………………………..

“Authorities that erect major obstacles to migration – or place severe restrictions on migrants’ work opportunities – inflict needless economic self-harm,” Guterres said.

This Corruptocrat has no economic credentials at all and as a typical Socialist, was an academic before entering politics, and it had nothing to do with economics.

He was head of International Socialists, a main player in getting his country into the E.U. and a rabid head for many years in the U.N. department for Socialist Hijabs Internationally Transferred (SHIT).

He is absolutely committed to global socialism, the ruin of the west through immigration, and is currently our head of state.

  11. Up The Workers!

    NEWSFLASH!

Victoriastan’s Dodgy Dan the Crim’s Party Man and his Ashton’s Circus Ringmaster declare that “World War 2” did NOT involve the ‘World’; WASN’T a ‘War’, and therefore was a number OTHER than ‘2’.

They claim that there is ZERO credible evidence that any such gang as the NAZI (i.e. Nationalist SOCIALIST German Workers’) Party ever existed, and said that they were a loosely-affiliated bunch of “Lone Wolves with an Ice Habit, a funny walk and a Mental Health Plan” who all shopped for clothing in the same store; liked high leather boots, identical steel helmets and matching uniforms and coincidentally just happened to have a fondness for goose-stepping in unison. The approximately 80 million people they murdered (in conjunction with their early allies, the Union of Soviet SOCIALIST Republics – who ALSO didn’t exist) were merely ‘collateral damage’.

Ashton’s Circus has vast “intelligence” supporting this view, but regrettably, it was kept in the same highly-secure file that all the prosecution evidentiary documents in the Bonking Billy Short-One alleged-rape case and also the Juliar Gillard T.U.R.C. case and also the 8 cases in 3 months of mysterious “hooning” in the Prime Ministerial vehicle, were in, and is now therefore irretrievably “lost”.

  12. Roger

So Breitbart is actually owned by a bunch of Ted Cruz supporters?

    How embarrassing.

  13. Mother Lode

Real question – why are the Political Class ‘alarmed’ by a merit-based immigration policy ?

    Two reasons:

    1) The see immigration as an extension of wealth transfer, but instead of transferring 1st world wealth to 3rd world countries, they transfer the people from 3rd world countries to the 1st world. The immigrants, of course, often bring the causes and the problem of the third world with them. Which brings us to…

    2) Pouring in great volumes of a dissimilar culture dilutes and weakens the existing culture and makes the population more pliable and easier formed into the elites’ great utopia.

  14. Joe

    2) Pouring in great volumes of a dissimilar culture dilutes and weakens the existing culture and makes the population more pliable and easier formed into the elites’ great utopia.

Causes more and more people to jump on the revolution band-wagon. However, as Robesperrie discovered to his utter horror when the Le Grand Terror separated his head from his body, the architects of revolution rarely survive it.

No, Westerners have shown with their history that they have the will and the brain power to engage in any atrocity to win a war. The others won’t have a chance.

  21. struth

    Just answer me two things.

    How does Multiculturalism unite us?

How does it “make us stronger”

I’d probably be more disposed to immigration if multicultural ideology didn’t come with it.

  22. W Hogg

With the exception of Donald Trump, US politicians have alarmed voters after NOT demanding to know why they should accept immigrants “from s***hole countries” in Africa rather than from places like Norway.

I see that Ecuador has finally granted full citizenship to Julian Assange.

I guess that means he won’t be standing for the Australian Parliament anytime soon.

As an exercise in lavatory cleaning, I imagine that is one way of sprucing up the first floor Ladies Loo off the back stairs at the Ecuadorian Embassy in London, though a mop, bucket and a bit of Pine-O-Clean might have been cheaper and quicker.

Drive 15 centimetres off the arse of the car in front, in a convoy of 20 or so vehicles, all 10 km/h under the speed limit.

Overtake me, pull left again — then slow down.

  28. Roger

Unmanageable social disintegration and internecine conflict is the utopia they want.

No, they want a pliant populace, easily bent to their will, attention diverted from their miserable state with bread and circuses.

Just look at Germany & Sweden…what the elites fear most is active dissent from their narrative, which they label as “right wing extremism”, although only a couple of generations ago it was the common sense political centre.

  32. Mother Lode

That is the goal, but I’m not so sure it will eventuate.

    Absolutely.

They truly overestimate their own genius at every turn.

I was thinking about it this morning.

People can be pretty confident with basic arithmetic. A engineer can be pretty confident that the footing for an electrical tower they have designed is up to the job, but only after careful calculation and drawing on past experience, and even then the design is forwarded to a reviewer to double check. And yet it is still not unheard of for the thing to fail.

And that is just the structural engineering of the footing. Not the whole tower.

Our elites presume to be able to design a society that will hum along perfectly and smoothly. And humans are rather more complicated a material to build with than dumb inanimate steel.

And they have not the least skerrick of a doubt. That is not because they are wise, but stupid.

I was amused that Nine News was unhappy about Trump’s rude words.
Then they went to a break so I checked the EPG.
Here’re two programs which pretty much characterise the last half century:

9gem 12 noon: One Million Years BC with the very controversial fur-clad Raquel Welsh!
SBS Viceland 2pm: Balls Deep: Michelle Obama

I can think of no controversy about the latter despite the eye-watering title. Perhaps a bit of hypocrisy is being generated by the MSM about Trump’s less-than-prim language…

  37. Roger

The greater problem is that, white anted by Leftism, we have lost faith in the superiority of our culture, despite the abundant empirical evidence for it, including the desire of peoples from other cultures to emigrate to the West in search of a better life.

    Mussies don’t.

The African problem is mostly a Mussie problem in Melbournistan.

I’d wager most of the Sudanese youth prone to violence are nominally Christian. The problem is they come mostly from fatherless families incubated in a failed culture thanks to decades of conflict. Only an idiot driven by ideology instead of common sense would imagine they could be assimilated into an advanced society without creating major problems for that society. Add multikulti and you have the perfect recipe for an insoluble, self-perpetuating problem with community leaders creating a mini-bureaucracy to address said problem, all funded by the long suffering tax payer who is constantly told he must “support” the dysfunctional community imported by incompetent politicians without anyone ever asking him what he thought about it in the fist instance.

Silvio to upset the feminazis in their black frocks…..extracts from the Oz:

Former Italian prime minister Silvio Berlusconi backed French actor Catherine Deneuve for saying that men should be “free to hit on” women.

Berlusconi, 81, who went on trial for paying for sex with underage girls during “bunga bunga” parties, said in a TV interview: “It is natural women are happy that a man courts them. I’m not used to that, because women always court me.”

He added: “The important thing is that the courtship is elegant.”

Berlusconi was convicted in 2013 of having sex with an underage prostitute, an exotic dancer nicknamed “Ruby the Heart Stealer”, but was cleared two years later following an appeal.

He is now on trial accused of buying off witnesses in that case.

    Top Ender’s Passage Through India

Sight of the Day. Agra railway station. Police with sticks were holding back through sheer presence a seething mass of yelling touts outside the railway station. Presumably they energize whenever a train arrives. The mob was held back behind a step only 30cm high, but no-one seemed to want to cross it and dare to try on the coppers, who swished their 1.2 batons occasionally quite impressively while walking about in the 10 metres of space between the touts and their marks – us.

OH&S spectacle of the day. A white cow in the middle of four lane road, wandering about quite unfazed while traffic dived, dodged and weaved around her. The cows seem unafraid of anything, but being brought up surrounded by adoring humans is their rationale. Apparently if you feed a cow you are feeding God. When the cows die of natural causes the skin and meat are not harvested – locals bury the cow instead.

Sad sight of the day. Children beggars in one of the tourist attractions.

Annoyance of the day. Bathroom plumbing in one old-style hotel was certainly old style. The “geyser” hot water arrangement I last saw in a British house which had been untouched since the 1940s.

So in turn for an IMF loan Tunisia has to only cut its deficit from 6 to 4.9% which has resulted in riots. Pull the plug on the place, it’s stuffed like the rest of MENA.

Who let in the Sudanese? Amanda Vanstone
    Andrew Bolt, Herald Sun
    December 22, 2016 8:35am
The crime wave in Victoria by people of African descent has been astonishing, with the latest victim a young woman who was stopped while cycling and carved up by three Africans. I have repeatedly asked of the crime-plagued Sudanese in particular: who let them in? And now we know.

Here is Amanda Vanstone, Immigration Minister in the Howard Government, in January 2007 attacking activists demanding she do more for boat people:

At a time when another major refugee crisis is unfolding in Sudan we should be trying to take a broader perspective.

The latest refugee crisis in Sudan is not the first…

Comparatively little is known of this crisis in Australia. This should be a matter of shame to some refugee advocates within Australia…

Australia has provided permanent resettlement to more than 10,000 people from southern Sudan in the past three years.

Vanstone was Immigration Minister for all that time, having taken over from Phillip Ruddock in 2003:

In 1984, when Labor held government under Bob Hawke, the intake of Sudanese refugees for resettlement was zero. During the ensuing decade just 34 Sudanese refugees were resettled in Australia. The intake jumped to 354 in 1994-95, heralding a rapidly increasing flow of Sudanese every year, rising to 6147 in 2003-2004.

Experts such as Paris Aristotle from the Victorian Foundation for Survivors of Torture say the influx was prompted in part by requests from the UNHCR for Australia to give priority to Africa in refugee resettlement quotas because of the 1994 genocide in Rwanda and the long-running civil war in Sudan…

In Australia, Sudanese-born humanitarian entrants have topped the offshore grants list every year since 2003.

But in 2007 a new Immigration Minister realised a disaster was in the making:

Kevin Andrews, who assumed the role of Immigration Minister on January 30 this year, has turned that sentiment on its head. Within a week of starting in the role, newspapers reported that Andrews planned to seek support from cabinet to drastically reduce the intake of Sudanese refugees because of concerns about a rising tide of Sudanese gangs and related crime.

Over the course of this year, Andrews’s concerns about the alleged inability of Sudanese refugees to integrate have become more explicit, culminating on Monday when he made plain that integration was to become one of the key criteria for determining refugee resettlement quotas.

“Some groups don’t seem to be settling and adjusting to the Australian way of life as quickly as we would hope, and therefore it makes sense to … slow down the rate of intake from countries such as Sudan,” he said.

Naturally, moral grand-standers of the Left refused to believe there was a problem:

New England independent MP Tony Windsor is not convinced the latest debate does not have an electoral purpose..

“Philip Ruddock for years, when the boatpeople situation was on, used to say, ‘We’ve got to look after the Africans’.

“They seem to have settled in quite well… Kevin Andrews has got a bit of explaining to do, otherwise people will quite rightly say he’s playing the race card.”

Victoria Police in 2007 spread false information:

But worst was the reaction of Victoria Police, led by Labor-appointed Christine Nixon.

Nixon claimed Andrews was wrong about Sudanese crime rates: “They’re not, in a sense, represented more than the proportion of them in the population.”

A police multicultural liaison officer agreed: “There’s an under-representation of the Sudanese in crime stats.”

Those police claims were false. Figures let slip by Nixon the following year revealed crime rates for Sudanese youth at least four times the state average.

    Labor smeared Andrews:

“It has been a long time since I have heard such a pure form of racism out of the mouth of any Australian politician,” sneered Queensland premier Anna Bligh.

The media vilified Andrews, rather than the Immigration Ministers who had put Australians in danger – Vanstone and Ruddock:

The Age accused Andrews of making “unpleasant and inflammatory” comments to provoke “a predictably base reaction from those sensitive to immigration on racial grounds”.

Yet even in 2007, as I wrote at the time, the evidence was urgent and compelling that a grave mistake had been made:

Of course many Sudanese will make excellent contributions to this country. Of course, and of course and of course. But it’s also clear that a worrying number of Sudanese immigrants – coming from a very different culture and a much poorer country with much lower standards of education – are struggling to make their way here and to integrate.

Recent signs of that include a huge brawl, worries by Sudanese parents about their uncontrollable children dropping out, concerns by teachers of a lack of ” life skills”, vicious assaults, and police warnings of gang violence.

A state school principal has also told me how very hard she’s found it to integrate the African students in her school, given how few of them have any English or much respect for authority. What makes her challenge worse, she says, is that she has so many of them, leading then naturally to form a “gang” rather than be forced to assimilate.

We can ignore all this, as we usually, do and shout “racist” at those who point out that we have a problem. But we need to rethink just how – or even whether – we resettle immigrants whose culture is so very, very different.

Even Sudanese defenders of the Sudanese refugees back then were actually admitting that we were admitting people more likely to resort to violence:

On 3AW, a Sudanese community spokeswoman asks for understanding: The implication of this journey (as a refugee) could make people prone to be violent.

    Er, OK.

And even then, in 2007, the media should have realised our refugee and immigration program – which had already let in hard-to-assimilate Lebanese Muslims – had exposed us to yet another completely needless danger:

A SUDANESE refugee who embarked on a three-day rape spree and sliced an elderly woman’s throat a month after reaching Australia will serve at least the next 17 years in jail.

Hakeem Hakeem, 21, was yesterday sentenced to 24 years’ jail, with a non-parole period of 17 years, for a string of depraved sexual attacks in Melbourne’s southeast in March 2005.

As we see here, a problem mostly caused by letting women out of the kitchen.

Especially the big fat ones who would obviously be good at baking chocolate cakes.

Roger Franklin Quadrant Online January 11th 2018

Melbourne’s sense of safety is being destroyed by rampaging mobs of African youths, three more violent incidents being reported even as this article was being prepared for publication. What to call the apologists and practitioners of the blind eye who have excused and enabled them?

At a glance it’s a mystery how Melbourne came to have an African gang problem. One day, or so it seemed, the City on the Yarra was as it had always been — a sprawling, sport-fixated country town, albeit with five million residents, never more content than when gazing into the navel of its parish-pump obsessions: AFL, artisan coffee, laneways, the sound of lawn mowers in what once was billed as the Garden State. Jaw-dropping crimes, a police force of dubious integrity, blatantly bent politicians — they were the hallmarks, or so we heard and believed, of cosmopolitan Sydney, that city of sin. Down here in the south we gave thanks for the good fortune to reside in a sedate, safe and civil burg.

Then, suddenly, we’re the South Bronx on the Bay, every morning’s news peppered with news of home invasions, riots, carjackings, robberies, assaults, police cars rammed. If Melbourne had a problem with “youths of African appearance”, according to the ever-quotable community leaders and activist lawyers The Age and ABC keep on speed-dial, it was that Victoria Police are bigots in blue who give young black men a hard time for no good reason at all.

Take the case of Magnus Kaba, a passenger in a car stopped by police for a routine licence and registration check in April, 2012, and depicted without exception in the media as a victim after being charged with a variety of offences. The state’s Human Rights Commission, which the former Baillieu/Napthine Liberal government promised to scrap but didn’t, also weighed in on Mr Kaba’s behalf. Those reports, though, omitted what many might regard as pertinent details.

As Magistrate Duncan Reynolds acknowledged when the case came before him, Mr Kaba has a very salty tongue indeed, plus a brazen eagerness to confront authority with his private parts. The young man began his dialogue with the police who had pulled over his friend and driver by posing the question, “How long this was fucking going to take. I have somewhere to be?”

While the registration check was being conducted, Mr Kaba climbed out of the car, identified by police records as having been formerly involved in a drug-related investigation, and began walking from the scene. One of the officers gave chase, stopped him and demanded that he identify himself “for the record”. At which point, as laid out in Magistrate Reynolds’ ruling, the following exchange took place (emphasis added):

… [Kaba was asked] for his name or identification to which he stated the response was ‘ … fuck off’. [Constable] Andrews again asked for indentification. [Constable] Randall had got out of the police car and approached Kaba. He stated to him that he needed his name ‘… to say I spoke to you’. Randall reported that the accused replied by saying ‘… go and get fucked c..t, I’ve done nothing wrong.”

Randall then informed Kalba that he had committed the offence of using offensive language. Randall stated that the accused said ‘… that’s fucking bullshit c..t, you are a racist‘.

The police officer then asked the accused for his name and address. The accused did not comply with the request and stated ‘… I don’t have to tell you anything, I’ve done nothing wrong’.

Randall then told Kaba that if he did not state his name and address, he would be placed under arrest ‘… until I can confirm who you are’.

The accused is said to have responded that ‘… this is fucking bullshit, you’re just harassing me because I am black‘. Randall then informed the accused that he was under arrest for failing to state his name and address. He was then requested to turn out his pockets.

Randall stated that Kaba then removed his T-shirt, dropped his trousers and underpants, exposed and grabbed hold of his penis and said ‘ … see I have got nothing on me.

That was not quite the end of the encounter or of the subsequent charges to be laid against Mr Kaba, who police allege grabbed and squeezed the arresting officer’s testicles while being led to the divvy van, an action credibly said to have caused Constable Randall “immense pain”.

Magistrate Reynolds subsequently ruled there is no common law power vested in police that gives them the unfettered right to stop or detain a person and seek identification, an opinion subsequently overturned on appeal.

But before that, next stop for Mr Kaba was the Flemington and Kensington Community Legal Centre, which does a brisk trade in identifying racism amongst police and where he joined five other plaintiffs — including a certain Jabril God (left), another son of the Dark Continent of whom there will be more later — in suing Victoria Police for compensation.

He and his fellow litigants collected an undisclosed sum, reported by The Age as being “tens of thousands of dollars”, when the Victorian government abruptly capitulated and settled, despite having spent some $3 million on its defence, according to then-Police Commissioner Ken Lay. Handing over money when accused of racist policing seems a near-reflex action in Victoria, regardless of which party is in government.

As to Mr God, who also shared in the windfall, he and his fellow plaintiffs were hailed as heroes by then-Police Commissioner Ken Lay, who lauded their courage, resilience and tenacity, which had “done their community proud”. As a mark of that respect and as part of the settlement, Victoria Police also went on record as stating the force in general, and constables Randall and Andrews in particular, agreed to “acknowledge that any policing involving discrimination on the basis of race is unacceptable”. All this, mind you, prompted by a young man who refused to give his name and allegedly thought it appropriate to wave his willy at a walloper.

As the two officers vehemently denied wrongdoing when the state was still spending taxpayer money on their defence, one can imagine how those words must not easily have passed their lips.

Oh, and as to Mr God, one of the plaintiff’s lauded by Commissioner Lay, that payout might well have come in handy in covering the cost of other legal matters in which he was involved. As the Sunday Herald Sun reported

An African refugee who won a payout from Victoria Police after claiming he was “racially abused ” has been exposed as a violent criminal.

A Sunday Herald Sun investigation has uncovered that Jibril God has a history of violence, drug abuse and has terrified ex-girlfriends and family members.

God embarrassed Victoria Police when he was awarded a payout reportedly worth tens of thousands of dollars after claiming that he was stopped and searched because he was black.

Two weeks ago in the outer western suburb of Werribee, a war of sorts raged in the night when police were called to a house party attended by, as they say, many “youths of African appearance.” Rocks were thrown, neighbouring homes damaged and cars vandalised while residents bolted their doors and prayed the fracas would conclude.

Not one arrest was made. Not one.

It is a safe bet the officers who maintained a softly-softly attitude amidst the rain of rocks and bottles were aware of what befell constables Randall and Andrews and the legal gauntlet of accusation and inquisition that became their comrades’ unhappy lot after doing what the policemen and the non-activist public deem to be their jobs and duty. They might also have understood, as a serving policeman told Quadrant Online, that being caught up in such a case does one’s career not a jot of good.

Should we be surprised no arrests were made in Werribee? What else are those in the trenches to do when their uniformed generals and civic leaders turn tail and run.

UPDATE: Even as this piece was being entered into Quadrant‘s publishing system, breaking reports of three more violent episodes involving people of African appearance were leading commercial radio news bulletins. The ABC (surpise!) focused on the alleged racist backlash against black people. If you haven’t yet heard the term “Africanphobia”, you will soon. Count on it.

How much of that do you feel you could attribute to Mussies?

I’d like to see hard figures, which means relying on the census, which only recently acknowledged South Sudan as a place of birth, which complicates things. Then also many younger south Sudanese would be born in refugee camps in Kenya & Uganda, which needs to be considered when estimating numbers.

Observation suggests we’ve taken in many more south Sudanese Christians, all as refugees, than northern Sudanese Muslims. One obvious explanation for this is that the Sudanese Muslims essentially won the civil war, killing 2 million southern civilians and displacing many more.

Somalia is another story, but the numbers are considerably less according to the census.

Maybe Swiss lobster fisherpersons can petition the EU for subsidies because of the cruel and unusual requirements forced upon them by the unenlightened Swiss government.

Despite understandable scepticism there are lots of self-identifying lobster fisherpeople in Switzerland. Just wave a large wad of euros at any street corner and ask passers by “are you a lobster fisherperson?” There must be millions of them. Besides which global warming will soon make Lake Geneva into a lobster paradise.

    Abstract
Cannabidiol (CBD) and ∆9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) have well documented immunomodulatory effects in vitro, but not following oral administration in humans. Here we show that oral co-administration of cannabinoids with lipids can substantially increase their intestinal lymphatic transport in rats. CBD concentrations in the lymph were 250-fold higher than in plasma, while THC concentrations in the lymph were 100-fold higher than in plasma. Since cannabinoids are currently in clinical use for the treatment of spasticity in multiple sclerosis (MS) patients and to alleviate nausea and vomiting associated with chemotherapy in cancer patients, lymphocytes from those patients were used to assess the immunomodulatory effects of cannabinoids. The levels of cannabinoids recovered in the intestinal lymphatic system, but not in plasma, were substantially above the immunomodulatory threshold in murine and human lymphocytes. CBD showed higher immunosuppressive effects than THC. Moreover, immune cells from MS patients were more susceptible to the immunosuppressive effects of cannabinoids than those from healthy volunteers or cancer patients. Therefore, administering cannabinoids with a high-fat meal or in lipid-based formulations has the potential to be a therapeutic approach to improve the treatment of MS, or indeed other autoimmune disorders. However, intestinal lymphatic transport of cannabinoids in immunocompromised patients requires caution.

Must be great to run a $1bn a year media conglomerate where you can just throw the usual schedule out of the window for a couple of months without having to worry about the audience.

I will not believe a word of this unless The Bill is getting another run on TV and Blue Hills electrifies the airways at noon.

The Bill has been on at around 5 am for over a year, starting with Ep 1, S 1. It’s been interesting to watch the slow descent into political correctness, although the delicious Frank Burnside is still around in the ones they are showing now, and policewomen still wear skirts. They still smoke in the office and have lunch in the pub, not to mention the mandatory bottle of Scotch in the drawer in CID.

The quality varies, but the better episodes are above average in the police soapie stakes.

Transcranial direct current stimulation promising for bipolar (last Friday)

Bernardo Sampaio-Junior, M.D., from the University of São Paulo in Brazil, and colleagues determined the efficacy and safety of tDCS as an add-on treatment for bipolar depression in a randomized trial conducted in an outpatient setting. Fifty-nine adults with type I or type II bipolar disorder in a major depressive episode and receiving a stable pharmacologic regimen were included in the study; participants had 17-item Hamilton Depression Rating Scale scores above 17. Participants underwent 10 daily 30-minute active or sham tDCS sessions and then one session every two weeks until week 6.

The researchers found that patients in the active tDCS condition showed significantly superior improvement compared with those receiving sham treatment (βint = −1.68; P = 0.01).

tDCS is “transcranial direct current stimulation”, which no one could possibly confuse with ECT.

Any idea which is more likely:

    A) Under the A666ott regime that hated and distrusted the PS, the same lifetime dwellers of the Swamp suddenly became twice as corrupt because they were removed from the moderating and law abiding influence of St Julia. OR
    2) With the end of the kleptocracy and protection racket, reporting of corruption increased as the PS feared the consequences of participating in criminality or coverup?

Tends to spike cholesterol. That’s one reason why I don’t advise long term keto diets. Also, for those with heart failure, strong evidence to suggest better off on carbs because for as yet some unknown reason the failing heart does utilise fats. In healthy hearts saturated fat is an important fuel source.

The Commonwealth is abandoning a long held responsibility

Iirc, the funding agreement was for a set period to assist states in an area of their responsibility that they had neglected.

Now the period comes to an end and the states cry “it’s a Federal responsibility”.

    Nice try.

And while we’re on the topic, why should public housing funding be distributed according to race, rather than need? As long as genuine need is met, what is the rationale for a separate administration at extra cost to the tax payer?

Ok here is a cartoon from this week on Mitch’s topic. 😀

IT – tides would no longer exist.

The sun’s gravitational pull also accounts for tides; we’d still have them but they’d be weaker, which would be a good thing.

Today a friend sent me the below. Good to see they are now researching what was long obvious but the challenge now is to prevent Big Pharma taking over.
In this context, “immunomodulation” = suppression of inflammation and autoimmunity. There are risks but a much safer than NSAIDs.

Mitch, stop being such a hippie. The best thing is for Big Pharma to take over and properly test cannabinoids just as they would test the active components of any plant compound. Same as nicotine; it is a useful drug in some contexts. So are opioids and the range of useful derivatives we have from them. To say nothing of alcohol (of various sorts) and its usages.

Let us disaggregate a compound from its recreational history, please, when we are doing medical research.

If cannabinoids can replace NSAIDS in some contexts, all to the good. Rat studies first though. The chain of biochemical interactions and full biologic pathways in many drugs are still not known: see the lipid-reduction Statins scare (and not entirely unwarranted, there have been some very bad reactions).

As a person with currently gummed up allergy eyes I am in favour of careful testing by people who know what they are doing. If they make a profit from it, that’s the way it is. Currently, antihistamines-R-me. 🙂

ABC News features yet another shlock horror bit of language from Trump!
Based on a Washington Post report, no less.
Is there no end to this derangement?

You are assuming it is solid and not a very old spaceship.

It’s a good series of novels! I must read them again.

    The US Left’s Game Plan
According to some, there are three plans.
    A. Russia collusion
    B. Mentally unfit
    C. Bang!

Not the place to discuss such treason.

    Just saw this.

This was in response to struth some days ago. He was involved in a march to Canberra, which was ignored by the media and achieved exactly nothing.
A mass demonstration/march to Canberra, with the hundreds of thousands plus participants brandishing certain “implements”, leaving parliament in no doubt about the anger felt and the determination that the status quo was no longer an option.
If violence erupted, it would be reported, not ignored. Just remember Cronulla and Minto.
Such a popular movement is not treason. Treason is what the political/media/bureaucratic classes have perpetrated on Australia for the last 30+ years.
If it’s good enough for the left to use such tactics..

The shitholes in Africa know where they stand now. Trump has put a shot across their bows when it comes for the beg fest that is the UN and it’s funding arrangements. I would however have preferred he used the term “corrupt African shitholes”. Much more accurate I’d say.

Twitter’s giving me no new tweets, not from the regulars I’ve been keeping up with on other’s TL’s and not even from any of the hundreds I follow that never appear on my TL.

    Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.

    Twitter has shadow-banned USSR.

    Gab is great.

Eh, that’s a bit fulsome. Gab is ok, so is Tinta, and Nilk has been pretty good since I referred her to wivenhoe (small “w”) for tent folding advice. notafan is a bit too religious and calli tries too hard to be one of the blokes. Candy and P are perfect.
