Borderline insanity

My nitwit former friend out in California continues to send me articles from the media basically framed around how disastrous Donald Trump has been, is now and ever will be. Although he sends me one or two of these a day, I decided he was no longer my friend when he didn’t wish me a happy birthday since he obviously knows my address and thinks of me all the time. Kind of sad, really, but having become a wealthy, Porsche-driving, profit-maximising, employee-firing Silicon-Valley CEO of his own small business, although also a refugee from 1956 communist Hungary, he sent me this the other day: Capitalism: A Disaster for All Seasons, from The Nation of all things. This is the sub-head which is really all you need to know:

For every San Francisco earthquake and Superstorm Sandy, some die—and others profit.

It’s almost as if they think capitalism causes earthquakes and hurricanes, and for all I know that is what they really do think. But why I mention this at all is something he just sent me the other day: How Trump lost Ann Coulter. It’s from CNN so you already know it’s slanted and inane, but if they are willing to say a nice word about Ann, it must be truly terrible about PDT.

The right-wing rabble-rouser Ann Coulter recently declared at a talk at Columbia University that the President was a “shallow, lazy ignoramus” and that she’s now a former Trumper. “If he doesn’t have us anymore, that’s what he should be worried about,” Coulter later told The New York Times. “He’s not giving us what he promised at every campaign stop.”

It really is astonishing that Ann has gone so 180 on Trump, and if this is really what she thinks, the words “shallow, lazy ignoramus” really do apply to her. The fact of the matter is that there is little PDT is trying to achieve that I do not agree with. That he is finding it difficult given the opposition from the Democrats, the media and half the Republican Party is incredible to watch, but that he is succeeding on much of it and making progress on most of it, still feels like a political miracle. I might imagine that one day I will come to the conclusion that it was too great a task for anyone to achieve, but I doubt it will ever cross my mind that anyone else could have done anywhere near as well.

AND SPEAKING OF HUNGARY AND CALIFORNIA: Interesting that all this is going on while Hungary and California are so in the news for exactly the same issue: open borders, on which they represent the two extremes of the moment. First Hungary where there was a landslide win for its border protecting President and his party.

Hungary’s Orban wins third term in power…

Populist, patriot…

From the first story:

The rightwing nationalist prime minister projected himself as a savior of Hungary’s Christian culture against Muslim migration into Europe, an image which resonated with millions of voters, especially in rural areas.

“We have won, Hungary has won a great victory,” a jubilant Orban told a large crowd of cheering supporters near the Danube river in Budapest.

“There is a big battle behind us, we have won a crucial victory, giving ourself a chance to defend Hungary.”

According to preliminary results with 93 percent of votes counted, National Election Office data projected Fidesz to win 133 seats, a tight two-thirds majority in the 199-seat parliament. Nationalist Jobbik was projected to win 26 seats, while the Socialists were projected as third with 20 lawmakers.

And then this, also from today, a million miles from Silicon Valley if you aren’t interested in looking in the right direction we have this: California. Sh*thole if you will pardon the expression.

California is no longer the American Dream. For native born Americans, it is the American Nightmare. A cautionary tale of what happens when you combine open borders; a pathetic welfare state; and radical liberal politicians who see taxpayers as targets to be fleeced and illegal aliens as their core constituency.

44% of Californians don’t speak English at home. It is a foreign state inside America. Soon expect to see employment ads that say, “Americans not wanted.”

California is following “the Mexican model” – ie a population with a tiny sliver of super rich elites at the top…and everyone else is dirt poor. Just like Mexico, the middle class is becoming extinct in California. This is the express train to hell.

Thanks to illegal immigration (which is always a net negative)…thanks to the joys of diversity (which doesn’t always work)…thanks to liberal politicians and voters…

Here, just for emphasis, are some pictures to go with the text, but not from the text.

Coulter is crazy for the wall, and she is correct. Without the wall everything else will be irrelevant. (Just watch that video for proof).

  2. wal1957

    Bloody Hell!
You won’t see this footage on MSM or their ABC.

This is what happens when you don’t enforce your borders, ala Germany.
Goodbye California, stupidly self inflicted. I wonder how many ghettos they aim to create?

  3. Davo

This sort of homeless camp is everywhere in LA. Downtown LA has many homeless people. It’s shocking how many there are. I hate going there. Some live in the filth subway stations and spend all their time riding around. The idiot mayor is selling bonds to house these people.

  4. RobK

I had some rellies that lived in California but they have all moved interstate, now i see why: “44% of Californians don’t speak English at home.” Sad.

  5. Ƶĩppʯ (ȊꞪꞨV)

there is nothing borderline about the insanity, the left is severe mental illness.

The left is a destructive civilisation destroying pathology.

although also a refugee from 1956 communist Hungary, he sent me this the other day: Capitalism: A Disaster for All Seasons

I read as much of the linked paper as I could stomach. The author makes two points, possibly three.

The first is that when disaster strikes, the rich are better able to cope than the poor.

The second is that when disaster has passed and the reconstruction begins, the rich are better placed both to accomplish it and profit from it than the poor.

And the thitd, implicit, point is that in the light of points primus et secundus, life isn’t fair.

I agree with all these points. Indeed I should say that any adult should have noticed them before age twenty. The only question is, what do you propose to do about it?

  7. Entropy

I agree with all these points. Indeed I should say that any adult should have noticed them before age twenty. The only question is, what do you propose to do about it?

Make the ‘poor’ rich enough to cope with disasters. And that doesn’t mean by giving them handouts or worse, a ‘helping hand’. It means creating the conditions for employment, the same rule of law for everyone, and minimising the restrictions on businesses to grow and employ people.

  8. Ann Coulter has gone full blown Malcolm Fraser.

  9. manalive

On the one hand, it’s obvious enough that an economy resting on fossil fuels played a catalytic role in intensifying the storm …

Has the writer lost his ability to reason, you know logical inferences, cause and effect?
There is not one scintilla of evidence to justify that assertion.

… Those corporate interests profiting from that form of energy production and doing all they can to defend it are certainly culpable, not the rest of mankind which has no other choice but to depend on the energy system we’re given …

The only people being “Gored” by the CC™ are those on lower and middle income given no other choice but pay the government-enabled energy rent-seekers.

  10. Diogenes

Make the ‘poor’ rich enough to cope with disasters. And that doesn’t mean by giving them handouts or worse, a ‘helping hand’.

Which is the proximate cause of the tent city rather than migration. Because of Cali’s comparative the many other states ,generous welfare handouts , the indigent either head their for a ‘better’ life’ or are given bus tickets there by authorities in other states

  11. Diogenes

ecause of Cali’s comparative the many other states

sorry I will try that again..
Because Cali has generous, compared to other states, welfare

  12. Texas Jack

The bleeding hearts of California are only doing what bleeding hearts do everywhere they insist on trying to pave the roads with good intentions. Hang Pareto, mass immigration, particularly that encouraged by hope, will keep throwing up endless poverty until people start to properly cost urban enclaves and the true cost of outward bound migration on the countries of origin.

  13. classical_hero

The left are insane. One thing they hate is how Donald Trump won and will always look for any bad instead of good of what he did. Take the recent fire at Trump tower. The fact that Donald trump tweeted that his building withstood the fire, they are saying he is egomaniacal. No matter what he does they will look for a negative.

  14. Malcolm

Steve Kates has a very binary sense of friendship. Like Donald Trump – you’re my friend. Dislike Donald Trump – you’re my enemy. So Anne Coulter (rationally) decides that she was wrong about Trump and now Kates hates her. His long-term friend dislikes Trump and Kates defriends him. It must be pretty lonely Mr Kates as more and more people turn away from Trump. Will you disown your children if they say anti-Trump things? Sad really, because you may one day decide that Trump is a fool and perhaps disown yourself?

  15. struth

Anne Coulter has always struggled with her politics.
She’s confused and has always been too female in her approach.
    Back in the kitchen wench.
I note from the above video that while California is a mess their bike tracks are still better than our main roads.

  16. Percy Porcelain

It’s almost as if they think capitalism causes earthquakes and hurricanes

No, we all know global warming causes those – when it’s not causing islands to tip over.

  17. Chris M

She’s confused and has always been too female in her approach.

Yes, she is a crazy feminist with scrambled eggs. Full cat lady in a few years.

  18. md

I hope the person on the bicycle doing the filming had the sense to exercise their 2nd Amendment rights.

  19. duncanm

Don’t forget Hungary has not closed its borders, its just very selective on who it lets in.

Germans are migrating to Hungary, and their business immigration is interesting reading.

  20. Roger.

    This is not insanity.

It is a very deliberate strategy to destroy the Californian iteration of American society out of pure hatred.

  21. John Constantine

Poor people are currency for their leftist elites.

Not just small brown women from far away places to scrub their dunnies for a cash payment of a few percent of the hourly rate the lefty is paid, but great sprawling vote plantations that produce the weaponised votes that can be used to drown all those that oppose Stalin.

  22. duncanm

it seems that Santa Ana camp was cleared in January — free hotel vouchers for all.

  23. struth

This whole approach where we keep letting the bastards off the hook by calling them insane of stupid must stop.
It must stop here in Australia, and very quickly.
The fact that the government finds no better immigrants than useless mussies in their millions and screams if it may be suggested that those who fought alongside us in wars, who are productive and are actually being persecuted for their race, actual refugees, and in small numbers by comparison, be let in. This proves it is a calculated and planned attack on our culture and civilisation being carried out by importing mussies who aren’t in any danger whatsoever, and the few cases where they are, it’s because of other mussies.

    Please face reality.
    They are not stupid.
They are global socialists attacking the west the only way they can win.
    From the inside.
Their Leader is the Secretary General of the U.N. with warriors in every western parliament and education and government department, as we have seen, including and up to the head of the FBI and CIA, the Justice department of the good old USA, and standing for elections, now many leading western countries to their planned demise.
    We are at war.
    It’s obvious.
A fucking blind man could see it, and yet we still have people calling them stupid, as if they don’t realise what the consequences of their actions will be.
Of course they are stupid, for wanting to destroy the west, to hate what they won’t leave, to want to punish it and white people.
    You can’t get more insane.
But calling them stupid as if they don’t understand what they are trying to achieve, is typical right wing behaviour, because we are too dumb to think there really could be that type of socialist scum about.
The denial of the right wingers to get to the core of our woes, and attack it, for not being aghast and call out for immediate withdrawal from the U.N. when a self proclaimed global socialist and former head of the global socialist international is in charge, the guy who was in charge of immigration at the U.N. previously, and started this whole problem back then, is what is truly stupid.
WHY TF there aren’t people screaming from the roof tops is the stupidity and cowardice we must truly acknowledge.
You’ve got to hand it to the left, at least they are active in their war of destruction.
The true stupidity is found with us.

  24. The video of the camp city is a familiar one. I saw one much the same from Paris France. Tents and rubbish as far as the eye can see.
I wonder where these people piss and sh!t.

Due to the enormous financial power of the IT nerds (who were sadly never bullied and beaten at school due to anti-bullying rules) California is hanging on quite well overall, but a few riots and murders will see to that.

Ann Coulter has zero political nous. She is also a one track pony (the wall, although I agree it’s critical) but what does she expect Trump to do, build it himself with his own money? She needs to save her venom for the Uniparty Republicans.
Coulter has yet to state what one thing Trump could have done that he didn’t in trying to get the wall built.

  25. Pedro the Ignorant

Whoever was riding that bike and filming through that endless row of humpies and filth in California should be awarded the Medal of Honor.

Incredibly brave act, and a miracle he survived being mugged, shot or worse.

  26. I wonder where these people piss and sh!t.

The same as they did in the 1% protests around the world, anywhere they wanted.

  27. duncanm

Whoever was riding that bike and filming through that endless row of humpies and filth in California should be awarded the Medal of Honor.

ex Sheriff’s officer who was pissed at the local Sheriff for (wilfully) failing to act.

  28. mh

Ann Coulter is promoted heavily by the MSM. A bit like how how our MSM’s go-to man is David Oldfield.

The MSM does this because they are an embarrassment to those on the right of politics.

  29. Slim Cognito

His long-term friend dislikes Trump and Kates defriends him

Did you even read what he said Malcolm? I’ll make it easy for you.

“I decided he was no longer my friend when he didn’t wish me a happy birthday…”

Kates has often complained about his friends Trump derangement syndrome but has not declared he had “defriended” him until this post (is that even a word?).

    Please try to keep up.

  30. Dr Fred Lenin

When I saw the photo I thought “not more crap about the poor persecuted semi indigenius welfarists”. Seems welfare bludgers are not unique to Australia ,as one cat asked where are the toilets and bathing facilities?dirty unwashed bludgers come in all colours it seems. Did the “dancers” at the ctaxpat=yer funded comical games have a wash before the show or had they vandalised the bathroom ax they usually do .?

  31. Splatacrobat

    Soweto by the sea.
Too much Mandela and not enough Mandingo.

  32. Slim,

I think ‘unfriended’ (a la Facebook) is pretty common now.

  33. Slim Cognito

I think ‘unfriended’ (a la Facebook) is pretty common now.

    Thanks Kurt.
That explains why I don’t recognise it’s use.
