We should take comfort that 1 amp is not Monty’s sock. He’s far too clever.

  2. Empire 5:5

Professor Charles Armstrong, director of the Center for Korean Research at Columbia University, said he was unconvinced by the idea that the trip was primarily a rescue mission. “This is odd: it doesn’t make sense for the chairman of Google to help rescue Americans from North Korea. Clearly, there has to be another agenda here that nobody is talking about.”

Which one is the more clever? mUnty, or 1 amp eter?

    You sound like a Boomer.

    Clinton’s Agreement in 1994

WASHINGTON, Oct. 18 — President Clinton approved a plan today to arrange more than $4 billion in energy aid to North Korea during the next decade in return for a commitment from the country’s hard-line Communist leadership to freeze and gradually dismantle its nuclear weapons development program.

12 years and $4 billion later Korea tests its first nuke – 9 October 2006.

Trump agreement – sanctions will remain until nukes are verified gone.

In review, Clinton paid for their nuclear development. Trump says he will keep the strangling sanctions on until the nukes are verified gone. See the difference now?

  7. Iampeter

Still sure that you are right?

Am I sure that NK will resume their nuclear testing and belligerance? Yes, I’m sure and I’ll definately take that bet.

    I wouldn’t if I were you though…

So the entire agreement is small enough to fit on one A4 page in normal type. What was that about lack of preparation? What has Pompeo been doing? Photocopying, from the looks of it.

That is some low energy diplomacy. Sad!</

So the approved narrative is that there is nothing in it, and anyway Bill Clinton signed a similar agreement in the 1990s. North Korea will continue as before.

Reminds me of the tale of the RSM at Duntroon schooling a young officer cadet in military protocol.

RSM "As an officer cadet, you are entitled to military courtesy, so I, sir, will call you, sir. As a WO 1, I am entitled to military courtesy, so you, sir, will call me, sir. However, you, sir, will mean it."

Unlike Clinton, and Obama with Iran, Trump means it, and will enforce it.

  9. Makka

Also every lunatic regime on the planet is watching this and now knows that if they want to be left in peace and even have summits with the US president no less they should start their own nuclear programs and behave crazy.

    Hey iamafkwitpeter,
You left out the bit about being delivered 1.8 Billion on pallets in cash from POTUS, like your hero Hussein.

  10. Slayer of Memes

    I’ll definately take that bet.

Everyone here is a witness, right?

If peter is right, I leave the blog for good.

If he is wrong, he’s gone for good.

    Bet is ON.

  11. Gab

Look, if it wasn’t for monty, we wouldn’t know what CNN/Guardian/ABC/NYT/HuffPo etc are saying.

Let’s thanks out little lefty regurgitator.

Blockquote fail, words after ‘sad’ are mine, not m0nty’s.

You left out the bit about being delivered 1.8 Billion on pallets in cash from POTUS, like your hero Hussein.

You mean your hero since you agree that appeasing dictators with nucrlear programs is the way to go.

Are you even understanding how contradictory your own argument is with this? Someone in this thread said the internet is for ever and the irony is that its you guys who really should bear that in mind.

The Cat, where 50 year old, politically illiterate lefties come to sneer at anyone who has alternative ideas and may actually actually know what they are talking about.

  14. Empire 5:5

Am I sure that NK will resume their nuclear testing and belligerance? Yes, I’m sure and I’ll definately take that bet.

    How will they fund it?

    Blatantly not true.
I am a lunatic, and my regime of mentally ill brethren have no interest in nuclear weapons whatsoever. Nuclear power stations, sure.

  16. Iampeter

Why bother with all the theatre if that is the case, he could do so without engaging with anyone publicly.

I don’t think he intended to. This was organize by the appeasers in South Korea and the Americans have helped them. This is all just icing on the cake for NK.

But aside from that its certainly work. You guys are lapping up the theatre like a proper buncha suckers.

  17. Gab

LOL “iampeter” the world famous expert on Kim Jung Un and international diplomacy. We’d better listen up!

    Oh my sides!

  18. Makka

You mean your hero since you agree that appeasing dictators with nucrlear programs is the way to go.

    It’s nuclear,fkwitpeter.

In all your lame arguments you have entirely missed the primary point in this episode. It is this; China has allowed denuking NK to become defacto part of their trade negotiations with the US. Not only has Trump forced China to redraw much better (for the US) bilateral trade terms, he has forced China to give up it’s PITA wannabe nuke nuisance, NK. In the process, reducing if not eliminating a real nuclear threat while creating real hope for tens of millions of people now living in medieval like squalor to join the 21st century. No small feat for a supposed idiot, especially when considering the prior 6 Presidents could manage nothing with NK.

You should stop embarrassing yourself and get to bed peter. It is a school night after all.

  19. Mother Lode

Why was he there? Who is he with and what are they looking at in this photo?

Two related reasons I can think of.

    1) He was interested if it was true what was happening, and knew he’d never learn anything reading google.

    2) He was hoping to get a further infusion of ideas from the Nork news services.

Expect any day now the Google banner to feature a picture of Kim frolicking among wildflowers kicking a Trump’s head soccerball.

  20. cohenite

You should stop embarrassing yourself and get to bed peter. It is a school night after all.

No, keep him here; after rae he’s almost human, well humanoid.

As you say every nitwit commentator has forgot china and how Trump is simultaneously playing them and I bet helping the little nork get out from under china’s thumb is a big part of the negotiation.

And while Trump is outfoxing china he’s also revealing the G7 for the inbred fuckwits they are.

  21. Gab

    Excellent summary, Cohenite.

  22. RobK

I think its impressive that Trump may have also secured the sale of a US armoured limo. Never miss an opportunity.
Sentosa has also managed some publicity that money cant buy. These are positive things.

How does this country rebuild its nuclear testing infrastructure and recommence ballistic missile testing while subject to enforced crippling sanctions?

  24. Mother Lode

    It’s nuclear,fkwitpeter.

Whoops. You just outed his ‘out’.

When Slayer trumpets that he won the bet, 1 amp was going to say, “No, I was talking about his nurclear programs. Go back and look it up!”

If we point out ‘nurclear’ isn’t a word, he will respond “Well, duh. Neither is ‘nuclear’.”

  25. Boambee John

I always worry that nuclear is an anagram of unclear.

  26. Boris

Trump has just revealed to the entire world what a wonderful negotiator he is. Granted the little tyrant Kim a meeting with the US president and promised to withdraw troops from South Korea for vague promises in return.

The clown in chief has no clothes but his worshipers cannot see this.

It is absolutely imposssible to debate with trumpists. It does not matter what trump does, they always say it is an act of genius. Even when one of his statements is followed by the exact opposite, he is right both times.

    Pathetic.

  27. Confused Old Misfit

Even when one of his statements is followed by the exact opposite, he is right both times.

You do have to admit that is a distinctive talent. Not given to many. The thing is Trump’s Queens English is not the Queen’s Queens English.

  28. Boris

And trump said he is honored to meet with the tyrant and invited him to the White House. Words escape me.

Flags of The US and DPRK flew like equal. Disgusting.

  29. Tailgunner

Even when one of his statements is followed by the exact opposite, he is right both times.

    It’s because…
    Trump is god.
    #Winning!

  30. stackja

Much MSM about Kim brutality. Yet in the past all Communists, beloved by MSM, were just as brutal. Khrushchev killed how many millions. Yet MSM liked his negotiations with Ike,

  31. Makka

The clown in chief has no clothes but his worshipers cannot see this.

It would have been so much better if your choice Killary had won, right Boris?

  32. Empire 5:5

An attack on the US or its allies would be suicidal, so Pyongyang probably aims to extract “aid” from the international community in exchange for dismantling some of its weaponry—rewind about 10 years to see the last time it pulled off the old “nuclear blackmail” trick.

    https://qz.com/1004330/north-korea-is-sitting-on-trillions-of-dollars-on-untapped-wealth-and-its-neighbors-want-a-piece-of-it/

China is the sector’s main customer. Last September, South Korea’s state-run Korea Development Institute said that the mineral trade between North Korea and China remains a “cash cow” for Pyongyang despite UN sanctions, and that it accounted for 54% (paywall) of the North’s total trade volume to China in the first half of 2016. In 2015 China imported $73 million in iron ore from North Korea, and $680,000 worth of zinc in the first quarter of this year.
    ____

For years Chinese buyers have purchased coal from North Korea at far below the market rate.

Imagine what South Korean industry can do with access to North Korean resources. Heavy industry and consumer electronics.

If he had a choice, what would be best for North Korea and Kim?

  33. Boris

would have been so much better if your choice Killary had won, right Boris?

Choosing between two awful candidates was never easy. If I were an American I would probably have stayed home. In his presidency trump has done some good things, inlcuding, Paris accord. Israel and Iran policy, tax cuts etc. he has also done some really dumb things like tariffs and selling out to tyrants such as Kim.

  34. egg_

Trolls have moved back to Leftoid talking point #1.
    Yawn.

  35. Makka

Choosing between two awful candidates was never easy. If I were an American I would probably have stayed home.

Not the point though is it. You continually bag Trump and his achievements in the full knowledge the only other candidate for POTUS was Killary. You therefore definitely think she would be best for the US and the world. That clearly places you in alignment with the fetid camp of leftist sewer dwellers like HRC, Obama, Comey, Holder etc.

  36. Boris

Makka, no. I support trump when I agree with him and criticize when I do not. You however blindly follow him as if he were god, regardless what he does.

  37. Makka

    Boris,
You ridiculed Trump all thorough the primaries, the campaign and during his presidency. You are just a fking lefty troll trying desperately hard to cover your tracks when it suits you to do so. And not very good at it either.

  38. cohenite

    Is boris iamsphincter?

I get so confused with the lefties and trolls.

  39. Boris

Ok makka I see normal discussion is impossible with cranks like you. Good night!

More generally, not a single argument advanced in defense of trump’s monumental blunder.

In the last 72 hours trump has I insulted his western allies and made western enemies rejoice, including Kim, Putin and the Chinese guy. Their aim is to divide western allies and they are succeeding.

Let’s check in on what the South Koreans made of today:

    https://twitter.com/elisewho/status/1006358988840026112?s=20

I think we can safely say they are pretty sweet with how it went.

  44. Iampeter, mUnty, and the Leftist MSM (ie. CNN): “Trump meeting Kim is just legitimizing an evil dictator as a leader of a country, and he shouldn’t be holding this summit to try to achieve peace…”

Just like how Neville Chamberlain should never have met with Hitler, amirite?

Aaaaaahahaha, nice one Slayer. Couldn’t have said it better myself.

  45. And Snoopy reckons the deal is equivalent to the Magna Carta, oh my aching sides! This thread delivers the lulz.

Yep, they apparently just discovered it because there has been nary a peep out of the MSM about it for the last 70 years.

    How convenient.
