    Portland University “Police” shoot a man in the back.

    University Cops SHOOT & KILL Licensed Navy Vet Breaking Up Fight

    Campus police at Portland State University shot and killed a man late Friday night outside of a campus dive bar. A fight had apparently broken out outside of the bar, the decades-old Cheerful Tortoise. Navy veteran and licensed concealed carrier Jason Washington intervened to try to break up the fight. At first the officers serve as spectators, watching the brawl go to the ground without intervening.

    As Washington falls to the ground, his gun allegedly came out of his holster. As he reached for his gun, that’s when police drew their guns and opened fire, killing Washington.

    Now, I don’t know where these two police officers trained, but most firearms instructors tell people that you cannot shoot someone in the back. If their back is turned to you, then they cannot possibly be a threat to you. Instructors also teach that you need to be aware of what is around and behind your intended target, so that should you miss or have a flyer it won’t harm any innocents.

    It’s also interesting that the officers don’t seem to care all that much about the preceding physical altercation, as they didn’t intervene to break that up.

    The officers have been placed on administrative leave, and have been identified as Shawn McKenzie and James Dewey.

    I am presently in the USA and went to the Capitol and Supreme Court today and can say that Australia is a far worse governed country than the USA alas. Quite a few MAGA hats to be seen among the populace. It quite cheers you up to see them in the hostile environment that is DC.

    Only our genius enlightened age could have thought of it.

    Although I would quibble with the idea that these rights are bestowed equally – it should read for different groups at the expense of white males who must be punished for their historical sins of not always thinking like we do in 2018, and the government is there to secure these rights for approved groups and to persecute white males.

    Yes, indeed. A very Happy birthday to the wonderful US of A, my second fave country in the world. America’s energy, enthusiasm and capacity to absorb change, learn from adversity and carry on to become even bigger and better than before is astonishing. The founding fathers were wise and virtuous and they devised a brilliant recipe for governing a brilliant nation.

    I remember waking up to the news on 1 March 2012 feeling sick in my stomach. The only person I knew of that was smart and competent enough to shock America off its slippery socialist slope was dead. But then all his friends and so many others started to come out swinging and I realised that we (the Normals as Kurt Schlichter says) were legion and the piddly Ctrl-left’s Potemkin shit show really could be smashed just like Andrew B always said. And here we are, there is real progress on the western political front, at least in the USA, at last.

    The ‘energy blackmail” has been directly facilitated by the German political elites. It continues today as Merkel refuses to do anything to assist the US counter the Russians. In fact, she is actively aiding them.

    It is the centenary to the day. The timing on July 4, 1918, American Independence Day, was the decision of the Australian commander, Lieutenant-General John Monash, the architect of victory. Hamel was a small battle that gained fame because of its stunning success, its military conception that integrated tanks, aircraft, artillery and infantry, the near-perfect execution of a plan, and its electrifying elevation of ­Monash to a new status.

    It didn’t change the course of the war, but it captured the turning point that occurred over the next few months. In its purest form, Hamel was a mini-model for how the war could be won. ­Monash was the right man at the right time, able to synthesise the correct military prescriptions.

    From the Oz. July 4th was also a significant date in Australian military history.

    Billie, you just can’t say things like that!
    Actually, the problems of the USoA are found in those first three words- “We the People”. That is the impulse to Majoritarianism, an off-shoot of the General Will idea. A lot of the principles seem nice, though the founding fathers were lacklustre in applying them- Jefferson and Washington owned slaves all their lives. Still, if you insist on a government of Saints, go to Utah and join the Mormons!

    For all it’s imperfections, the USA is still rightly the leader of the Free World. What other nation could produce a change agent like Trump when he was so desperately needed? By comparison, Australia’s efforts at freedom, prosperity and the pursuit of happiness is sadly, abysmal.
