In other words, any criminal acts of misappropriation and/or violations of workplace law will not be divulged. Because there are two laws in Australia: one for leftists and Laborites and one for everyone else.

Yep and it seems that Turnbull is quite happy to go along with that.

The Andrews government has just banned Sky news at Victorian train stations.

Another fat incompetent woman politician has banned Sky News at Victorian train stations because she’s the transport minister and she didn’t want her train wreck interview with sky broadcast. Andrews fully endorses that message. So once again this shows the Marxist totalitarian instincts of the Andrew’s Labor government and shows once again why I am justified to call for every woman to be removed from public office be it at council state or federal level. These incompetent, authoritarian (hello ms Husar) and corrupt individuals are not doing us women any favours.

  6. During the protest, many doctors held signs with the message, “I’m a doctor, not a murderer.” Some said they would rather go to jail than kill unborn babies in abortions.

Every one of these doctors deserves to feast on beer and steak this evening.

Evidence? Despite more mental health support than at any time in Australia’s history, the ADF has more mental health problems than ever.

That would have to be the stupidest comment ever posted here and lord knows there’s solid competition.

The objective in immigration policy is to have people succeed here at the individual level. We shouldn’t be choosing people where there is a statistical observation they are likely to fail.

    For the frollickingmole.

John Langford who passed away earlier this year was the long term mover and shaker of Diggers &Dealers.
No detail was overlooked, and he set a very high benchmark for the conduct of all the presentations, exhibitions and social events.
This year’s forum was run just as well as John’s in previous years, and I personally have no complaints.
A very interesting, informative and personally quite lucrative event.

Congratulations to organisers. Generally very well received.

A couple of whinges heard about lack of taxis and Ubers in town, but most of the delegates are big boys and know how to organise petty details for themselves.

Kal like a ghost town today after the 2300 delegates have flown or driven out of town. I’m off tonight, rest day tomorrow then back to the red dirt country on Saturday.

  33. The purpose of immigration should largely be about what they can contribute to the common good. The only exception to this would be circumstances in which they in immediate threat of harm and then there should be a preference for temporary asylum as close as practicable to their home country.

I was going to post some lightweight impressions of events at Diggers and Dealers here this afternoon, only to find the blog infested with a couple of angry snarling trolls, and lost interest in sharing.

Without a doubt, East coast /Perth/London is the best flight combo I’ve ever been on. You depart the east coast at the leisurely 3 in the arvo and arrive in London at around 5 am. The early arrival gets you in just after curfew is lifted (I think Heathrow has a curfew) avoiding the horrendous stampede at border control. I once waited two hours to get through and that was even with one of the fast track pass thingis. There was no wait time at all and baggage claim was about a 10 minute wait.

The 787 is the best piece of freaking machinery ever made. It’s godly. Older planes are taut, so if the plane catches a little turbulence the entire contraption shakes. The Breamliner has flapping wings, which I think means the pressure from any rough air is mostly absorbed by the wings. So comfortable. Also the air is humid and you don’t come out of the cabin feeling like a dried log and therefore less jet lag.

The flight attendant told me the customer reaction has been hugely positive and will gain a very wide following by his estimate.

One slight negative. If the plane goes down in the Indian ocean… the part to the left of the Australian coastline… they will never find the remains because it’s the most isolated part of the world. I mean, I’d sort of like to think that I could survive , get on an inflatable and saved after an hour or so. 🙂

  52. Pedro the Ignorant

    Makka.
Battery mineral production and processing was the big subject of discussion “off the agenda”.

Naturally, the producers, especially the majors, of lithium, graphite, cobalt and nickel were madly pumping up their own tyres, the money men were angling hard for investors, but the more hard headed are generally adopting a cautious “wait and see” attitude. The recent widespread short selling of Lithium shares has spooked a lot of big money investors.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained, I suppose, and I am not a money man, but I wouldn’t like to be too deeply leveraged in battery minerals for a while yet.

Prior to 1972, over 30 million pounds of Sperm Whale oil was used annually in lubricants because of its exceptional lubricity and heat stability. In 1972, the Sperm Whale was listed as an Endangered Species. The following year, the US Congress amended the Endangered Species Act, outlawing the killing of whales and the use of their oil. The loss of whale oil had a profound impact in the automotive industry, where for example, transmission failures rose from under 1 million in 1972 to over 8 million by 1975.

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull will call for Bill Shorten to immediately hand over Labor’s internal investigation into Emma Husar to the Department of Finance, as Labor figures prepare for the damaging report to be released to the party’s administration committee on Friday.

Mr Shorten said Ms Husar has “had a gutfull” and that it was up the NSW branch of the Labor Party if they wanted to make the report by barrister John Whelan public.

The western Sydney MP announced she will resign at the next election after accusing former employees of orchestrating a witch hunt and denying allegations she misused taxpayer funding or bullied staff.

Wary of setting a dangerous political precedent for any party in opposition, the government hosed down earlier reports that it would launch its own investigation into Ms Husar’s office.

Instead, it will encourage staff members to come forward to the department, the Independent Parliamentary Expenses Authority, and Comcare – the Commonwealth workers’ compensation scheme.

Rita Panahi: Enough police semantics over gang violence
    Rita Panahi, Herald Sun
    August 9, 2018 4:00pm
    Subscriber only

THE obfuscation and mixed messages from Victoria police convey nothing but weakness.

Talk of a “zero tolerance approach” from a Victoria Police Commander means little when dozens of out-of-control youths go on a wild rampage through suburban streets without a single arrest.

We’ve seen it again and again; police watching on as violent youth cause havoc and terrorise innocent people.

This time it was in Taylors Hill but we’ve witnessed similar scenes in North Melbourne, Footscray, St Kilda and other parts of Melbourne in recent months.

At some point police command need to stop playing politics and devote their efforts to policing.

How can we be confident that police are tackling African gangs when the Chief Commissioner Graham Ashton ties himself in knots trying to redefine the word, ‘gangs’.

He said the “traditional” label of a gang might make people think of people in leather jackets like in the New York street gangs of “West Side Story”

Gangs, groups, posses, mobs, squads … call them what you want. The fact is that they exist and they are a problem.

Victoria police’s preoccupation with semantics is bordering on the bizarre.

Sudanese born Australians are only 0.11 per cent of the population but are vastly overrepresented in official crime statistics, close to 10 times more likely to offend than the general population.

Addressing that issue should be the number one priority of police, not playing word games or trying to rationalise and even minimise the impact of the criminality.

Ashton described the latest incident as groups of about 20 to 30 kids coming together to have a “bit of a clash”.

That’s an interesting way to describe more than 100 aggressive youths some of whom threw rocks at police and bragged that “police can’t touch us” and required the attendance of dozens of heavily armed riot and plain clothes police.

A few days ago they came for Alex Jones. Yes, Alex Jones is a right-wing conspiracy theorist and a right-wing wacko however free speech should allow him to conspire as much as he wants to and to be as wacky as he wants to be. But the totalitarian left don’t like right-wing conspiracy theorists and decided to shut down Alex Jones. Funny that, because the left actually do like conspiracies but only ones that suit their narrative. The biggest conspiracy happening at the moment (and a far more dangerous conspiracy than one Alex Jones could ever conjure up, Alex Jones is rather partial to aliens kidnapping people) is a leftist conspiracy called Russiagate…..a conspiracy designed to bring down Trump. Have not detected any happy-clappy Vatican II nonsense as yet. (Dover and CL are welcome to pull me up on this though). Just a mention of the dome of the rock and muslims in one episode but for context only and along the lines of what Netanyahu said in the UN about the Abrahamic religions, although Bishop Barron does clearly differentiate Catholicism from the other religion and the moon god cult.

Beautiful scenes and imagery from the most famous religious sites (Catholic and Je wish) around the globe.

  180. All gained via turn-out disparity, not disillusionment or interest in the Democrat runner – who lost.
Faced with the usual universal media onslaught against him, Trump squashed all comers.
    Incredible.

“squashed” LOL. Do you think if Sussan Ley caused a by-election in Farrer, won with a 20-point margin last election, and the Lib candidate fell in by less than a point, that whoever was leader would be crowing about a LNP wave? Not bloody likely.

    Is struth transitioning into set.

No doubt there are global ‘elites’ but are they all reptilian?

Or even a little bit joined vat the hip?

    I doubt it, very much.

How many of the elections did the Democrats win, Monty?

    0.

    That’s how many.

  183. Habib

Ms Plibersek said Ms Husar had experienced a lot of personal stress and her family had “been through a lot” after details of the investigation were made public.

I’ll have to keep this in mind if I ever get my collar felt. I’ll tell the filth I have a lot of personal stress, and my family’s been through a lot. Straight out the door of the nick.

  184. C.L.

    Will check it out.
    Thanks, Gab.

Elle, if I caused offence I am sorry. ‘Twas a joke.

Oh no, Mark! No offence taken at all. I was being lighthearted.

  186. How many of the elections did the Democrats win, Monty?

Haha, you’re pretending a 20-point swing against you is a good sign.

Reactionary lackey is “Wishin’ and hopin” while simultaneously whistling in the dark.

Relax m0nty, you will be past the mid terms soon, Shrillary will become president after the inevitable impeachment of Donald Trump, and VP Pence will continue as her loyal deputy, doing whatever DT would have done while Shrillary hits the gin cupboard and WJC chases the interns, those being their only real interests.

  188. notafan

Today is the feast day of St Teresa Benedicta of the Cross who was born Edith Stein into an Orthodox Jewish family in Germany, became an atheist at age 14 and a Catholic Christian while studying philosophy at University.

A brilliant woman and fine lecturer she became a Carmelite at the age of 42, despite being moved to Holland by her order she was arrested by the Gestapo and gassed a week later.

She knew exactly what was coming.

    One of my favourites.

    Of course she has.

I should have just cleaned my room that would have taken half an hour instead I chose the garage, it’s been two weeks now and I’m really struggling but I guess that’s the point of choosing something that requires dogged discipline so I’ll press on.

During a speech in front of 600 people at a Women in Mining and WA School of Mines alumni association function on Tuesday night, Women in Mining and Resources WA founder Sabina Shugg threw her support behind EY’s decision.

WA’s first female to earn a first-class mine manager’s certificate in the 1990s, Ms Shugg said the mining industry needed to show it was leading the charge to be an inclusive industry for men and women.

Ms Shugg told the Miner companies hosting functions in venues that did not employ topless barmaids sent a message of inclusion.

“We want the industry to have a positive reputation so mums and dads, aunties and uncles, brothers and sisters say to the young people in their lives, what about mining?” she said. “It’s a great industry, a great opportunity, it’s inclusive and all people are welcome, it doesn’t matter who you are.”

“That’s the kind of image we really want, not that we’re the wild, wild west and a bunch of hicks leering at skimpies.”

Unless you are a redneck hick who likes skimpies.

Yep. Very, very warm. When I read the article in the Oz about Husar and her employee’s daughter disappearing for a month and then the mother finding out that she had been staying with Husar all along, my mind thought the same thing about Ms Husar and the daughter. Theresa May’s awkward curtsy strikes again

    By Tess De La Mare
    Press Association
    34 minutes ago August 9, 2018

British Prime Minister Theresa May has hit the headlines again for the curtsy she rolls out for members of the Royal Family.

Instead of an elegant bob, May’s curtsy looks more like a crooked lunge, leaving the Duke of Cambridge a little nonplussed at Amiens Cathedral in northren France on Thursday.

In June, May treated William to a similar display at a ceremony at the Defence and National Rehabilitation Centre with her long legs splayed out awkwardly.

From the Oz. I’m sure any Kitteh could teach the lady how to curtsy properly.
