    In the real world, actual temp barely over 32.

    Dunno, but today a cycling group is calling for helmet laws to be scrapped. It seems they’ve noticed that people amazingly don’t like to ride bikes if they have to wear one.

    A new plan to scrap laws forcing Australians to wear helmets when riding bikes is being pushed by a cycling organisation.

    People over the age of 17 should be able to choose if they want to wear a helmet when riding on cycling paths or trails, the Bicycle Network said in a report released on Wednesday.

    “The number of people who ride a bike isn’t increasing and there has been no decrease in the number of bike rider fatalities. It’s clear that our bike policies aren’t working, so it’s important that we review everything,” the Network’s chief executive Craig Richards said.

    I predict they’ll be run over by a very large SJW bus.

    The Civil Rights Act, asserted:- “all persons born in the United States and not subject to any foreign power, … are hereby declared to be citizens of the United States”
    According to the 14th Amendment: “All persons born or naturalized in the United States and subject to the jurisdiction thereof are citizens of the United States and of the state wherein they shall reside.”
    It appears to me that any successful challenge would need some other basis than the strict interpretation of the above. Trump appears to want the provision upheld, not overridden.

    The parents of a four-month-old boy who had to be airlifted to hospital in a critical condition have been charged with criminal neglect in South Australia. A 31-year-old man and 30-year-old woman from Port Pirie were charged with criminal neglect on Thursday and refused bail.     The organization the J3wish Vote posted on Twitter, “Trump and the GOP are directly responsible for the wave of white nationalist terrorism sweeping the country. Hate speech coming from the White House is causing hate violence in our communities.”

    The Death of Stalin. Heartily recommended, even if you haven’t brushed up on your mid-20th century Russian history, but better if you have. The script provides introductory sub-titles for all the famous characters, a cast of grasping wannabes with an immoral past who are appropriately sent up in this beautiful farce. These venal politicos are shown up for the flawed human beings they are, but in the context of a brutal reign of terror with its Damoclean sword hanging over everyone, the powerful as well as the everyday battlers. The magnitude of the terror draws out some sympathy even for these high-flying rats, despite their scheming against each other. More to the point, this film successfully produces a revulsion for the system that generated them. It is beautifully played for laughs, a dark Russian comedy of manners. At times Hairy and I were in stitches at the one liners, or the tiny touch scenarios (reminiscent of when the old witch takes time out to clean a spot on her apartment carpet in Rosemary’s Baby), at other times we were sombre even though amused.

    I was reminded of how such artifice in genre can provoke the best understandings of totalitarian power, its ideological relentlessness and surveillance, mentally comparing this work to Amor Towles’ novel ‘A Gentleman in Moscow’, which used the technique of fable to make similar sorts of points about the Communist banality of evil.

A sentence out of place, not well constructed etc, and someone may be seen to be saying something other than they intend. I’d prefer to assess people on the range of their statements not just one post, unless it is clearly extreme and as intended. Even then, a bad night on the plonk can cause a mental aberration in some.
