  1. I believe you are going to pay for my steak, JC.

  2. Remember, the westcoast is as left as you get. I reckon line ball result in the house.

  3. Also good to see the GOP getting smashed in Kansas. The legacy of Lafferism.

  4. JC

Someone above was saying Cruz has lost but drudge has Cruz at 50.40 and Beta O’rourke at 49.6. Cruz has won, no? Unless drudge is wrong.

  5. Bad Samaritan

Now back and the Dems appear to be the winners in the House at $1.17 and coming in.

  6. Snoopy

Although for some reason none of the irregularities happened in wealthy white districts, funnily enough.

Elections are conducted by counties are they not? Just as the Florida 2000 shambles was the responsibility of Democrat run counties.

  7. The Ted/Beto stoush will go to a recount and it won’t be decided for the best part of a week, from the sounds of it.

Fox is saying only 73% of the Texas vote counted so far. Beto needs to light the afterburners on the Caravan and get them across the border and in to a poling station – stat.

Just tried to watch some results on Fox.
I just can’t do it. I can’t listen to this.
It is hard to believe so many Americans are of Democrat persuasion still.
After all the lies, the thuggishness, the media pile ons against the President, the absolute craziness of supporting the march of the invaders, and despite the amazing economic results. Still they vote democrat.

Dragged there by the hair by the likes of Get Up’s equivalent in the US? Must be so.
Every moron who ever read and believed Yahoo inviting clicks on ‘Trumps latest disaster’. Lies.
Early days yet, of course, but those numbers are far too many unthinking votes for my liking.

As a commenter (sorry, forget who) asked, “If Fox feels like it can call control of the House, why doesn’t it call control of the Senate, where the only question is by how much Republicans increase their advantage?”

Oh great, the Cuck Stirewalt now arrogantly cucksplaining the early Fox call.

(While people are still voting across the country, of course — Whoops, I guess Fox maybe pulled a Dan Rather and dissuaded some Republicans from voting. Whoops.)

Democracy is mob rule Monty, Western Civilization doesn’t run on mob rule, it runs on representative government… The French Revolution, if it taught us nothing, then it taught us that when contrasted with the American revolution that preceded it.

Freedom is the ability for a population to be enterprising, not the ability of a Government to compel tax from the enterprising…. Underkerstumble?

  56. Dr Faustus

I’m looking at the GOP taking 2 Senate positions from the Democrats – 50 Rep vs 38 Dem, with 89/100 seats declared.

The only mystery is why, if Trump is as utterly appalling as almost the whole Establishment claims, are the US voters backing him in the senior house? It’s almost as if they don’t trust the Democrats with the appointments and big legislative levers.

  57. Baldrick

    So in summary …

Trump on the way to retain HoR ✔

  58. J.H.

“Losing House is going to make the next 2 years very hard on Don. They are going to harass him and push for impeachment.”

I don’t think it will worry Donald Trump too much… He thrives on the conflict. He will use the fact that he doesn’t have complete control of Parliament/Congress to contrast their behavior. His Tweeting will increase and so will his criticism of them.

    Democrats need just nine more

It’s looking more and more likely the House will go the way of the Democrats, now needing just nine more Republican-held seats to win control.

    Latest from the Oz.

  66. Colonel Crispin Berka, King's Fusiliers Corps.

“Republicans like Chris Christie tricked you into voting form them because they said they were moderate Republicans, then they became extreme right wing once they got in!”

Is that like the Democrat Senator who promised hope and change but then as President delivered extra-judicial drone strikes, deported nearly 2 million undocumented immigrants, got in bed with the big banks, and privatised dozens of schools?

TYT: “The right wing killed 11 people in a synagogue last week. The right wing had people saying (rascist phrase prohibited on Cat) in Charlottesville, and Trump said there were good people on that side. And this is supposed to be fair? How does anyone in those minorities vote for Republicans?”

This comment came about 30 seconds after complaining that Breitbart had run fake propaganda about a Democrat candidate. I can only assume the camera lenses in the TYT studio are 100% transparent because there are obviously no mirror images facing them.

Ronald Reagan in 1982 midterms lost the House of Reps by 26 seats and pick up the Senate with a 1 seat majority…. It stood him in good stead to win his second Presidential term with an even bigger margin than his first term.

It’s looking more and more likely the House will go the way of the Democrats, now needing just nine more Republican-held seats to win control.

This is a great result for the GOP Congressional quislings.

Before polling day they were talking a brilliant game about how they’d finance Trump’s wall just as soon as the election was over. Now they’ve got the easy copout of being a minority in the House, so they don’t even have to think up an excuse for stabbing their own supporters in the back.

Looks like the US has voted in its very own Sarah Sea-Patrol, right down to the “two dads” surname.

New York liberal congressional candidate Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez defeated her Republican challenger, Anthony Pappas, on Tuesday, becoming the youngest female elected to Congress.

Ocasio-Cortez, the 29-year-old Democratic socialist, has promised to try and push the Democratic Party further to the left, by supporting Medicare for all, free college tuition and the abolition of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Ocasio-Cortez won her party’s nomination in an upset primary against longtime incumbent Joe Crowley over the summer.

The liberal darling enjoyed an endorsement from former President Barack Obama last month, after he left her off of his initial round of 81 endorsements this summer, prompting speculation over why the ex-president had seemingly snubbed the young Democrat whose big-government views align with those of Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt.

Ocasio-Cortez, despite leading the polls in her House contest, seemed to make a series of gaffes throughout her campaign — stumbling when asked whether she considered House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., the leader of the House Democrats; claiming that unemployment was low “because everyone has two jobs,” and stumbling over her strategy over how to fund Medicare for all.

In an interview this week, when asked about that funding, she suggested people would “just pay for it.”

“People often say, like, how are you going to pay for it and I find the question so puzzling because ‘How do you pay for something that’s more affordable? How do you pay for cheaper rent?’ You just pay for it,” she said in an interview with Jorge Ramos. “We’re paying more now.”

According to some recent studies, the program, first introduced by Sanders over the summer, would increase government health spending by $32.6 trillion over 10 years.

The spending hikes would allow the government to replace what employers and consumers currently pay for health care — delivering significant savings on administrative and drug costs, but increasing demand for care that would drive up spending, according to a study released by the Mercatus Center at George Mason University over the summer. The study estimated that doubling all federal individual and corporate income taxes would not fully cover the additional costs for the program.

But under the plan, all Americans would gain access to government insurance with no co-pays or deductibles.

The insurance industry would be relegated to a minor role in the system. Supporters argue that other developed countries already have implemented systems like this, and America’s private insurance-centered model continues to leave some families with crushing costs.

“In a modern, moral and wealthy society, no person should be too poor to live,” Ocasio-Cortez told Ramos. “We should treat healthcare, housing, and education as rights.”

The Senate wasn’t about protecting “slave owners”, it was about checking Mob rule, etc.

The original US Senate was based on the idea that each state would appoint senators (i.e. no voting for Senate).

This was a guarantee of state’s rights otherwise they would never have agreed to sign on to the union.

  91. 10 years ago Dems held a filibuster proof majority in Senate, held the The House, POTUS and majority on SCOTUS. System was fine then.

I don’t think they had a SCOTUS majority, but I take your point. And weren’t those brief few months glorious! A lot of good work got done before that Senate by-election. Did you see Trump openly campaigning in support of Obamacare? What a comprehensive victory by the Democrats.

    Trump calls to congratulate Democrats

It’s official: Democrats have taken control of the US House of Representatives, seizing on voters’ worries about health care to deliver a rebuke to President Trump eight years after Republicans did the same to President Barack Obama.

The party rode a surge of suburban discontent with Mr Trump in districts clustered around major cities, capturing seats from Republicans in districts near Chicago, Denver, Kansas City, Miami, Philadelphia and Washington.

Mr Trump called House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi of California to congratulate her on the Democrats’ victory, an aide to Ms. Pelosi said.

Shortly after midnight, the Associated Press has called 25 GOP-held seats for Democrats, giving Democrats the majority in the House.

The Socialists have their arses kicked in the Senate. Where it matters if Trump is to make headway with nuking the swamp and cleaning the SCOTUS of insanity. Votes still to be counted but Socialists will scrape out a meagre win in the House. Lots of great GOP Governor wins.

A Red Wave it isn’t, closer to a puddle. That in fact is a complete failure for the Dems and their boasting beforehand. The House as always is mere entertainment value – a showcase now for mUnty’s retarded nutters.

I know, that’s what I mean. Imagine the laughs over the next few years.

So, one attempt to sum it up:

The Republicans increased their majority in the Senate

They will lose control of the House but certainly not by a massive margin

They won a comfortable majority of the Governor races

There was no “blue wave”, pace Monty’s fantasising

You can still drive from the Canadian border to the Mexican or the Gulf coast passing entirely through Republical congressional districts

The same may be true, barely, in travelling from the East coast to the West.

The Republicans must be absolutely delighted that those two Democrat US national embarrassments, Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren, were re-elected

Some cast the mid-terms as a referendum on Trump’s Presidency. On that score, I think the US electorate has said “Well we have some gripes Don, particularly in the suburbs of some of the major cities, but overall the great spread of us across the country are pretty OK with what you are doing. Oh, and by the way:

    (a) we are sorry that a Democrat House majority will enable some vicious, vindictive arseholes to pursue their grubby vendettas against you, and

    (b) You can appoint whoever you damn well like to the Supreme Court or any other body.”

    Beto O’Rourke

Oh yes, Beta O’Rourke, one of my faves.

Beta’s illustrious business career lifted out of wiki.

    Business career (1995–2005)

Following college, O’Rourke worked as a live-in nanny for a family in Manhattan, then at Hedley’s Humpers as an art mover, before working with his uncle at a startup Internet service provider. During this time, he fell into a depression, unsure of what to do with his life. However, his friends Stevens and Klahr (along with his friend from Columbia University, David Guinn) joined him in New York, and they rented and renovated an inexpensive 2,000-square-foot factory loft in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.[17] Interested in the publishing industry, he found a job as a proofreader at H. W. Wilson Company in the Bronx, and wrote short stories and songs in his free time. He began to miss his family and lifestyle in El Paso,[17] and returned to the city in 1998.

After coming home, O’Rourke wanted to tackle the “brain-drain” of El Paso, or the exodus of youth because of lack of opportunity. The following year, he co-founded Stanton Street Technology, an Internet services and software company that develops websites and software. His wife, Amy, operates the business as of March 2017. For a few years, the company also published an online (and briefly print) newspaper, also called Stanton Street, that O’Rourke modeled on alternative periodicals like The Village Voice and New York Press. O’Rourke was involved with civic organizations and nonprofit groups such as El Paso’s Rotary Club chapter, United Way branch, and Center Against Sexual and Family Violence. He also sat on the boards of the El Paso Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and of the Institute for Policy and Economic Development at UTEP.

Smart people were leaving El Paso when he showed up. Think about that for a second.

No shit. The Cat has been at the cutting edge in terms of political and economic analysis suggesting the female vote should be immediately cancelled.

I have another suggestion though, I think is workable. We shouldn’t be totally Saudi with the female vote. Lets be liberal about it and accrue female votes to the husband or the father. If a dude is married and say has three unmarried daughters and a wife, he gets five votes. His own, the single daughters and wife’s. I think this could be eminently workable and popular.

I reckon the Democrats will send a bunch of legislation to force Republicans to vote it down in the Senate to make them look bad. Not much will get done though, the margin is too small and the new GOP minority house leader will be under huge pressure not to help out in any way.

It will be interesting to see if Trump ever makes any sort of commitment to infrastructure investment to back up his campaign rhetoric, which under the current Congress has been a running joke. Pelosi will have fun with that.

    https://slate.com/human-interest/2016/11/white-women-sold-out-the-sisterhood-and-the-world-by-voting-for-trump.html

Of course, the biggest and saddest reason white women chose Trump over Clinton is simple: racism. Trump tried to pit straight white men against everyone else—women, people of color, people in the LGBTQ community, immigrants—and white women decided they didn’t want to vote on the side of “everyone else.” They wanted to vote on the side of white men. White women decided that defending their position of power as white people was more important than defending their reproductive rights, their sexual autonomy, their access to health care, family leave, and child care. White women bought into Trump’s lies about immigrant rapists and decided they’d rather have the respect of their angry white fathers, brothers, and husbands than the respect of literally everyone else in the world.

The “Progressives” threw complete bullshit abuse at women and those women nodded along and changed their vote to Democrat.

Yes, they’ll be an excellent foil for him.

    Trump wins out of this.

Well I’m not sure what happened to the Blue Wave. Seems to have fizzled out into a urinal flush.

Two years of a Demon controlled HoR should set up Trump nicely for 2020.

The Hope for Blue November flopped at the box office, but MAGA Senate delivered.

  208. Zulu Kilo Two Alpha

Ocasio-Cortez won the support of the left by advocating for government-paid health care for all, a $15 minimum wage, free college tuition and the abolition of the federal department of Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

From the Daily Mail. Seems she also compares the election of the Democrats as akin to ending slavery, and wants to push the Party even further to the left….

  209. Bruce of Newcastle

    If they cut spending hard

I think the Republicans have finally worked out that it’s pointless cutting spending since when the Dems get in they will just spend everything the Republicans saved.

So the alternative is to spend it on something useful, like walls, military kit and infrastructure. At least the stuff bought will last, and be useful.

It is inevitable that the US will default. Unfortunately for the owners of Treasuries the problem won’t be the US’s, it’ll be theirs.

I wanted to see liberal tears today.

Is there anything, or do we have to wait until 2020?

Oh, there’s plenty of leftist tears… They had convinced themselves they would win the Senate and the HoR. It was going to be impeachment and the slaying of the Trump beast…They had it all planned. But alas.

In a usual Presidency, they would have. Trump denied them a “normal” mid term election cycle. The turnouts for both parties has been unprecedented… especially for a winning President’s party’s voters because they tend to be demotivated due to the Presidential win, while the losing side tends to dominate the mid terms because the loss motivates the base to get out, etc.

Trump helped hold the Senate… There are tears aplenty in Leftville.

The ABC is on the ball as always:

Things could get ugly for Donald Trump following Democrats win in the House

The anticipated blue wave was no tsunami, but it still delivered Democrats the power to thwart their opponents’ agenda at every turn.

They could launch a raft of investigations into the administration — not to mention the possibility of bringing impeachment proceedings against the President.

Funnily enough, there is no mention of the crime that would result in Trump’s impeachment. That must just be an optional extra.

US politics working as they should. The house majority will offer up legislation, the senate will reject it and the Pres will govern by executive order. Interesting system.

So, pretty much like the last six years of Obama?

  213. Tel

So the alternative is to spend it on something useful, like walls, military kit and infrastructure. At least the stuff bought will last, and be useful.

They can’t have a wall now because the Democrat House will block until the end of time.

As far as I’m concerned the USA does not need more military kit. Total cost of the Iraq & Afghan Wars comes to between $2 trillion and $6 trillion depending on which estimate you want (see https://www.csis.org/analysis/us-military-spending-cost-wars) and mucking around with the unreliable Kurds in Syria hasn’t achieved anything. They are at the stage of giving tanks for the police to hoon around in, but take a look at places where crime is appalling (e.g. Detroit and Chicago) it’s not a shortage of police tanks that is causing the problem … it’s really poor quality governance. The US already has the largest military in the world.

So “infrastructure” might be good, if they can avoid bridges to nowhere and roads that no one wants and a badly run government Post Office that should have been sold off to private enterprise a century ago.

  214. Oh come on

Bit of a bugger about the HoR but the dangerous far leftists were rejected (Beta, Gillum etc) and the nutty dividend-paying far leftists were elected (Occasional Cortex). It’d be a bit of a pity if McSally loses but she is GOPe, probably not to be trusted, and Sinema is another wacky leftist who might be worth more to the GOP in the Senate than another McCain-lite.

  215. Oh come on

It’s going to be entertaining having Nancy Pelosi, now on the hard right of her party, as speaker again. Good times!

  216. Oh come on

Why can’t the Army Corps of Engineers design and construct the damn wall? 26 billion is loose change for the Pentagon, particularly if it’s spread over a few years.

Isn’t the Army Corps of Engineers just a bunch of greenie water botherers? I think most of the corp’s staff are civilians.

  220. Snoopy

So basically the blue wave has ensured one, possibly three, conservative appointments to SCOTUS.

However, McSally looking good in Arizaon and Montana also a possible Senate pick up.

Pretty sure if Rashida is born in Detroit, she is an American.

I reckon all the drugs that the geriatric Pelosi takes to keep herself alive have had a rather dire effect on her speech (slurring), her facial mannerisms (twitching) and her brain…she’s brain dead. Pelosi is a walking rotten corpse.

  226. Infidel Tiger

    Terrible result.
Add in the big tech companies tightening the screws and the media whores figuring their tactics at least partly work, + no wall.
USA has missed it’s chance at correcting the slide. Two years down the track you will have millions from the next generation voting. And planted in cemetaries the last of the half decent generations before boomers come along with their lack of personal hygeine, drugs and loose women.
    All downhill from here.

The illusion of permanence has darkened many a worried mind.

    The youth will grow up.

Immigrants are not a monolithic bloc. Look at Florida.

Nothing we can do about sheilas though.

I’m fine Stimpy. Just don’t feel much like a winner today.
A lot of stuff going on with very hard-up rellies too.
Gets to me sometimes, with the economy about to tank for them.
We’ll help out of course. But I hate having to be in this situation.
And I wish America had more sense than to see it the way they do.

  228. C.L.

    Pretty good result for Trump.
    A non-wave conventional House swap.
That means two years of Democrats doing what they nowadays do best: insanity.
This will suit Trump to a tee in 2020.

The American system is as broken as our own. Both systems produce administrations with three years (max) to govern according to their endorsed platforms.

  229. J.H.

A great irony lost upon the media…. is that this win of the HoR by the Democrats, vindicates President Donald Trump… Winning an election is allowable. It isn’t actually an “Impeachable” offence…;)

Though… It will be an irony lost entirely upon the Left. :), God love ’em.

Agree, there was NO blue wave. This is very impressive for Trump…..when you at midterm historical results….Obama, Clinton, Bush…even Reagan….faced huge swings against their respective parties in their own midterms. Clinton lost over 50 seats in 1994 and the Kenyan lost over 60 seats in 2010. Whereas….Trump….he and the GOP have held and won seats in the senate and the loss in the house is about 23 – 25…..that ain’t bad.

You’d think she’d be salivating at any new blood from which to feed. Certainly with what must be within Occasional-Cortex’s bloodstream, Pelosi will be able to stutter and stumble for another thousand years or so.
