Did the people tut tutting about Trolleyman’s convictons do the same about milkshake man’s gofundme bonanza?

I think the intent is to call you “coward”, not “fat”, though it could be blended into “fat coward”, if you prefer.

Monty supports violence via Antifa, since that’s what they do, and he supports Democrats, who just lurv Antifa – and Maxine Waters is a Democrat politician on record as advocating physical confrontation.

Why is he still allowed here?

Okay so this will make me even more unpopular but to me trolleyman was getting in the way of police. not only were the cops trying to get at the armed Muslim maniac but then they also had to contend with a member of the public being potentially harmed by either them or the Muslim, causing even more distraction for the cops in a very tense situation.

I doubt trolleyman had visions of a GoFundMe bonanza when he reacted to a clearly visible threat to human life. Nobody is flawless and at least he did something. Which is more than I can say about the chap who appeared on Q&A, complained about tax cuts and had a GoFundMe page set up to buy him a toaster.

Gab, I don’t think the strategic analysis in these situations gets beyond “3 on 1 is better than 2 on 1”. One of the Police slips over or gets worked into a corner and they’d be praying for trolleyman to do more.

Here is how the sheep and the sheepdog think differently. The sheep pretend the wolf will never come, but the sheepdog lives for that day. After the attacks on September 11, 2001, most of the sheep, that is, most citizens in America said, “Thank God I wasn’t on one of those planes.” The sheepdogs, the warriors, said, “Dear God, I wish I could have been on one of those planes. Maybe I could have made a difference.”

State funeral to be held for Bourke St terror victim Sisto Malaspina

The family of Pellegrini’s owner Sisto Malaspina has remembered their father’s “larger than life character” and “natural generosity”, thanking Victorians for their love and support since the 74-year-old was killed in Friday’s Bourke Street terror attack.

In a statement released through Victoria Police this afternoon, they said they would gratefully accept Premier Daniel Andrews’s offer of a state funeral.

“We would like to thank Dad’s friends, customers, and all the wonderful people that have come forward to pay their respects and show their love and support,” they said.

    From IT over the page

Lots of talk Hillary is going to run again in 2020.

    Looks around:

    Hillary Will Run Again

Reinventing herself as a liberal firebrand, Mrs. Clinton will easily capture the 2020 nomination.

Mrs. Clinton has a 75% approval rating among Democrats, an unfinished mission to be the first female president, and a personal grievance against Mr. Trump, whose supporters pilloried her with chants of “Lock her up!” This must be avenged.

Good platform to run on. We should see Kevin Rudd and Malcolm Turnbull both back soon too.

Expect Hillary 4.0 to come out swinging. She has decisively to win those Iowa caucus-goers who have never warmed up to her. They will see her now as strong, partisan, left-leaning and all-Democrat—the one with the guts, experience and steely-eyed determination to defeat Mr. Trump. She has had two years to go over what she did wrong and how to take him on again.

She has never even gotten close to recognising what she did wrong.

She will hope to emerge as an unstoppable force to undo Mr. Trump, running on the #MeToo movement, universal health care and gun control. Proud and independent, this time she will sideline Bill and Mr. Obama, limiting their role to fundraising.

    There are no words….

Just as Mr. Trump cleared the field, Mrs. Clinton will take down rising Democratic stars like bowling pins. …….but rest assured that, one way or another, Hillary 4.0 is on the way.

    T-1000 Hillbot confirmed.

This is a strange analysis – who wrote this ?

Mr. Penn was a pollster and senior adviser to Bill and Hillary Clinton from 1995-2008. Mr. Stein is a former Democratic Manhattan borough president and president of the New York City Council.

    OMG – Clinton lackeys !

    It’s true – she’s back !!

Whether “Trolley Man” acted reasonably or not will always be contentious with some. On the one hand he was assisting Police in a reflex manner by shoving the trolley towards the offender and otherwise using it as a ‘barrier’. I noticed that Trolley Man fell over once (not sure why) and at that point he was potentially at significant risk if the offender had turned on him.

Alternatively, the Police did seem to be overwhelmed by the situation. They repeatedly backed away* and it may not have seemed unreasonable for a member of the public to try and assist. From the Police perspective, Trolley Man was providing a few valuable seconds to assess the situation.

Shooting the offender was inevitable and I presume (hope) the Officers were calculating, even subconsciously, the distance to the offender and ‘what is in the background?’ in the event of a miss or ricochet. And, when the offender seemed that he might get the better of one of the Police, the other one fired.

If nothing else, Trolley man deserves acknowledgement for actually doing something – by stark comparison to the (beta) males who stood at a safe distance and filmed on their phones.

As an aside, the greatest risk was if the offender disengaged from the Police and ran towards the watching crowds. That could have required shooting him whilst he was thrashing around in a swirling crowd who were trying to escape.

    * I understand that the Police didn’t want to be stabbed – but their body responses and footwork would suggest they were startled and it took them too long to establish ‘command’ of the situation. Their ‘training’ failed them at the beginning which could have resulted in a different outcome. (I get it that they are not para-military/military trained). But, contrast the VicPol officers response to what we know and see in many other countries from ordinary Police. That f*cker would have one warning to drop the knife – then bang bang. (Leading to the old saying about not bringing a knife to a gun fight).

It’s a pretty bad indictment of VicPol when someone like unarmed trolley man feels he has to step in to assist 2 armed police officers bring down an obvious killer from just a few metres.

James Gargasoulas apologises for Bourke St rampage, had ‘permission to run people over’

    Tessa Akerman

James Gargasoulas has apologised from the witness box for mowing down pedestrians in Bourke Street in January 2017, in long-winded evidence in which he claimed to have “permission to run people over”.

Mr Gargasoulas has pleaded not guilty to six counts of murder and 27 counts of reckless conduct endangering life and today spent 14 minutes in a roundabout speech in the Supreme Court.

“I apologise from my heart but that’s not going to fix anything if I say sorry,” he said.

“Neither will a lengthy sentence fix what I have done.”

Mr Gargasoulas said the day of Bourke Street he had stabbed his brother, police were following him, he was facing five years’ jail and his partner was committing adultery.

“I still haven’t gathered my thoughts as to understand why I did that,” he said.

“I had a premonition half-hour before going down to Bourke Street and running people over.

Obviously the first out can be a gritty reality documentary where rough life on the streets intersects with marginalised refugee migrants and, pitted against each other, the film maker asks where the real blame lies
    ( read: capitalism ).

Then later the feature film ‘Trolleyman’.

  47. cohenite

It amazes me that people seek to differentiate islam on the basis of the number of muslims present in a host nation. It is a stupid notion because islam is a cancer: at low numbers of muslims the cancer has not metastasised. It is containable. But as the numbers of muslims increases the cancer does spread and begins to destroy the host. Any number of countries around the world are now showing that effect. Australia is just another one and I think we are just on the cusp of the metastasis.

We’re often warned, with almost mathematical precision, what different levels of muzzo population will mean for the host country. Bad. Cronkers, however was applying oncology to the problem giving it more of the medical flavor.

Why do Israeli Arabs appear much more behaved in a relative sense than what their level of population implies per the linear predictions made by people?

Muslims are 18% of Israel’s population. That’s the highest of any Western nation. But Israel is unique in being surrounded by muslim nations. Those nations commit most of the aggression against Israel. There is no need for internal aggression. Anywhere there are parasitical Islamic populations about 15% of the muslim population are active in jihad or supporting it. Another 70% agree generally with the aims of islam terrorism which is to introduce sharia. But as I say because Israel is surrounded by muslims the same dynamic as in other Western nations is not as apparent. That and the much greater efficacy of Israeli police and army attest to the relative harmony of the Israeli muslim population.

Try another example; or look at the confirmatory nations starting with France. But in any event keep defending islam.

  85. Why do Israeli Arabs appear much more behaved in a relative sense than what their level of population implies per the linear predictions made by people?

Collective punishment. When dealing with tribal mentality it’s not that it is the best form of deterrent, it is the ONLY effective form of deterrent. The Israelis understand that, as did the Romans before them, and every civilised culture in between.

Being ruthless with Islam will have the desired effect. In Australia, our Govt has gone down the road of appeasement, kissing arse with the media cheering them on.

There is an obvious police/military presence in Israel, but I bet it’s no bigger than what you see in say Italy and France.

Don’t make that bet. The military / police presence is much larger in Israel.

Seeing soldiers patrolling Bordeaux is a shock. I probably saw one patrol a day last time I was there a couple of years ago. Soldiers were stationed on every corner of Jerusalem last time I was there (though that was during the knife intafada). We passed armoured patrols (tanks) on the Golan Heights while visiting wineries. Jerusalem with a larger Muslim population had more soldiers and police on duty than Tel Aviv but there was still a much larger military presence there than France.

Also Israeli soldiers are gunned up even off duty so you see them everywhere. On top of that Israeli citizens often carry weapons. The concierge at our Tel Aviv hotel was openly carried a pistol.

What a load of unadulterated garbage.

The 2 cops chased the perp away from the crowds along the street, with Trolley Man joining in along the way. He was very lucky that the 2 cops had the perp’s attention, otherwise he would have been stabbed and killed when he fell down. The cops then lured the perp across the road and engaged him hand to hand until he was in a position where the female cop shot him with minimal danger to the public. Those 2 cops deserve bravery medals, especially the male cop who used his gun and a baton to ward off the perp’s stabbing attempts while maneuvering him into a safe position for the female cop to make the shot.

Greens candidate Angus McAlpine rapped about date rape, drug dealing as ‘FatGut’

A foul-mouthed Greens candidate vying for state parliament was the lead vocalist in an offensive rap crew whose lyrics reference date rape, domestic violence and drug dealing.

Greens candidate for Footscray Angus McAlpine fronted Broken Aesthetiks, whose songs regularly reference “b****es” and include a number of homophobic slurs.

One particularly vile track features the lyrics: “date rape drugs in her drink then have my way”.

Another boasts: “got no class when trying to get some a**, put a rowie (rohypnol) in your glass and wait for a few minutes to pass”.

The Greens on Monday night stood by Mr McAlpine, who said the “disrespectful” lyrics were written for “shock value” when he was young.

Mr McAlpine — performing under the pseudonym FatGut — alludes to domestic violence in a rap about a breakup.

“It hurts me to the end because I want to hurt my f***ing girlfriend,” he says.

In several explicit tracks, Broken Aesthetiks also rap about stealing a police car, ram raiding stores, being arrested for being drunk and drug taking.

“We’re selling PCPs (the drug phencyclidine) to stop being poor c***s ’cos lining up in Centrelink was never a hobby of mine,” Mr McAlphine says in one song.

They all seem to be employed and employable. They live in a fully functioning first world democracy and economy. Interestingly, there seems to be no large flow of migrants out to others parts of the Islamic wonderland that surrounds Israel in Middle East. That speaks volumes. But it can be effective when used intelligently. The gap between “Im not doing that as my family will suffer” and “Me and my family have nothing to lose” is the sweet spot.

    GRACE KELLY – Man-eater extraordinaire.
    Posted on February 6, 2015

Every once in a while an actress comes along with whom the camera seems to fall in love. Ava Gardner, Marilyn Monroe and Greta Garbo were three one could name, but even these beauties took a back seat to Grace Kelly. She only made eleven movies, yet she will be remembered forever, not just as Her Serene Highness, Princess Grace of Monaco, but as Amy in High Noon (1952), Linda in Mogambo (1953), Margo in Dial M for Murder (1954), Lisa in Rear Window (1954), Tracy Lord in High Society (1956), and especially Frances in To Catch a Thief (1955). Her beauty and apparent class took our breath away. She took the breath away from most of her leading men, too.

There is no denying that Grace had affairs with just about anyone who might advance her modeling and movie career in the late forties and fifties, whether it be with directors, drama coaches, other actors, writers, even key grips and cameramen. Yet, to movie-goers, she projected an image of wholesomeness, of the girl next door in whose mouth butter would definitely never melt. Former star of the silent screen Clara Bow (1905-65), herself no stranger to scandalous reputations and torrid affairs, had this to say about her: ‘It’s been 20 years since the trial that broke my heart. If it happened today, I’d still be a whore. Grace Kelly, however, will get away with having many lovers. Know why? The damn public will never believe it!’ True.

Grace Kelly counted among her many conquests several men who were much older than her. Gary Cooper was over 50 and married when he and 22 year-old Grace had their affair during the making of High Noon. Clark Gable was also over 50 the following year on the set of Mogambo, when he was merrily servicing both Grace and her co-star Ava Gardner at the same time. The very married Ray Milland was a bit younger (47) when he fell for Grace while making the Hitchcock thriller Dial M for Murder in 1954. In fact, so besotted was he that he threatened to leave his wife of 22 years for his gorgeous co-star.

It would be reasonable to say that 1954 was a lucrative year for Grace. Five of her eleven pictures were released and she fell in love with Milland, William Holden and Bing Crosby. Her tryst with Holden (when they made The Bridges at Toko-Ri) only lasted a couple of weeks; but she was extremely hot for her over-50 co-star Bing Crosby (yet another married man) on the set of The Country Girl. Her other two leading men that year were reasonably recent newlyweds who had long tired of seducing actresses throughout Tinsel Town. I refer to Jimmy Stewart (Rear Window), and Stewart Granger (Green Fire). There exists no evidence that either actor succumbed to Grace’s charms, although if form is anything to go by, she probably sounded both of them out

In 1956 Grace made High Society with Crosby and Frank Sinatra and slept with them both. Other lovers included John F Kennedy (of course), David Niven, Marlon Brando, Paul Newman, Spencer Tracy, the Shah of Iran and Prince Aly Kahn. There were dozens more until she wed Prince Rainier of Monaco in the same year, 1956, and many more after as well. ‘She had more boyfriends in a month than I had in a lifetime’, said Zsa Zsa Gabor. ‘She went to bed with anyone she fancied at the time.’ Author Gore Vidal commented: ‘Grace almost always laid the leading man. She was notorious for that in this town.’ When her daughters began to hit the scandal sheets she confided to her biographer Gwen Robyns, ‘How can I bring up my daughters not to have affairs, when I am having affairs with married men all the time?’ How, indeed?

I suspect it will be because I realise I’ve already read some of Winchester’s prodigious output.

People, schooled in The Arts or even Economics, about which much more is written and read, often have no idea to what extent engineering – mechanical engineering, not software – has shaped their world and culture. They put the cart before the horse and attribute changes to cultural attitudes without realising that those attitudes have been shaped by technology.

Yep, the cops get nothing. Not a cent. This is also the public’s way of saying they’re fed up to the back teeth with the coppers escorting these buggers to the scene of the attack, and kid gloving them afterward, of sitting around outside the Lindt café while the hostages have to escape on their own.

Maybe it is because they aren’t living at the detritus end of society and live in a country that has good internal stability.

Yes. The Muslim Arabs are treated very well in Israel.

Yes indeed and they only have to look over the border to see on which side their bread is buttered.

It might seem weird, but in places like UAE which is like 80%+ expats of all nations, the best Arabs to deal with are often “Palestinio” as the Emiratis call them. Despite the ostensible PC anti-Israel pro-Palestine line, they are despised as gypsies and hustlers by the wealthy Emiratis.

I liked dealing with them for just that reason. I bought a fair bit of 2nd hand drilling equipment off a few of these dealers. I beat them down as far as I could, then I had a 55yo Indian woman who would insist I was always being ripped off as a white-eyes, and would call them in her most coquettish little girl voice and negotiate them down further, even after I’d paid the bill. Incredible. She still works for us, in her 70s now, still pulls off that trick.

Labor MP Anne Aly attempts to back-pedal her criticism of Scott Morrison’s reaction to Bourke Street terror attack

Labor MP and counter-terrorism expert, Anne Aly, attempted to back-pedal her criticism of the prime minister’s reaction to the Bourke Street terror attack, after calling it “politically desperate” on Sky Newsover the weekend.

“I don’t see any issue with calling out extremist behaviour and I do agree that that’s really, really important.” Dr Aly said in an interview with Emma Alberici on ABC Radio.

Her interview today followed her accusation that Mr Morrison was using the terror attack for “political gain”.

“I don’t care how politically desperate you are, now is not the right time to use language that divides the community,” Dr Aly told Sky News in the day after the terror attack.

Her comments came in response to Mr Morrison saying he could not speak of Friday’s attack, which left two dead, without naming the threat of “radical, violent, extremist Islam” behind it.

When asked by Alberici if she agreed with Scott Morrison’s comments that mental health and substance abuse issues should not be used as an excuse for extremist behaviour, Dr Aly said, “I do take issue with calling out that behaviour by wholly and solely blaming an entire community and putting the responsibility of terrorism on an entire community.”

Dr Aly said she had settled upon the terminology “violent jihadism” because “it is an interpretation of those verses in the Qu’ran that refer to jihad to mean that violence, or to justify violence against innocent victims.”

Dr Aly agreed that there is something in Islamic teachings that allowed for radicalisation, and that it is “about how those particular passages in the Qur’an are interpreted.”

From the Oz. You own your words, Dr Aly, and I hope the voters of Cowan remember them at the next election…

I can’t imagine Old Australia standing back and watching and/or running and hiding

It’s probably the old Australia, but some clown tried to rob a rural bank, with a shotgun, in the mid nineties. He discharged the weapon into the ceiling and yelled “Freeze, everybody, this is a stickup!”

A quick witted customer said “Yeah and that’s a double barreled shottie, and you just let both barrels go, into the ceiling, didn’t you?”

The would be robber was smashed across the face, with the shotgun, and the customers were kicking seven bells of shit out of him, when the police arrived and spoiled the fun..

To an Australian politician it means – “we rule, so we get to make the laws”.

As long as the laws don’t apply to them. The level of cynicism in the general population is alarmingly high and politicians from the two major parties are the main culprits. The reason minor parties proliferate is that disaffected voters would rather park their votes somewhere else instead of voting informal, not that there isn’t a fair amount of that as well.

Just 29% of the French are willing to fight for their country, according to a 2017 WIN/Gallup poll, a bit above Germany’s 18%. Contrast that to 84% of Israel’s Jewish population. That’s “patriotism” or “nationalism,” as you prefer

Haven’t seen any comments about the bloke who put out the car fire by dousing it from above with a balcony hose.Very effective from what I could see.

Brave, too, if there was a bomb, though he may not have thought of that.
