Important news for all of humanity

    https://www.plymouth.ac.uk/news/scientists-receive-13-million-to-study-new-propulsion-idea-for-spacecraft

Dr Mike McCulloch, from the University of Plymouth, first put forward the idea of quantised inertia (QI) – through which he believes light can be converted into thrust – in 2007.

He has now received $1.3million from the United States Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) for a four-year study which aims to make the concept a reality.

Some old crackpot in the late 1940s…

“… whaddya mean it’s important to assess how well crystals can partially conduct electricity?!”

    Quite funny,

Jack walked into a sports bar. He sat down next to Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez at the bar and stared up at the TV as the 10:00 news came on. The news a story of a man on a ledge of a large building preparing to jump. Alexandria looked at Jack and said, “Do you think he’ll jump?” Jack says, “You know what, I bet he will.” Alexandria replied, “Well, I bet he won’t.” Jack placed
$30 on the bar and said, “You’re on!” Just as she placed her money on the bar, the guy did a swan dive off of the building, falling to his death. She was very upset and handed her $30 to Jack, saying, “Fair’s fair… Here’s your money.” Jack replied, “I can’t take your money, I saw this earlier on the 5 o’clock news and knew he would jump.” Alexandria replies, “I did too; but I didn’t think he’d do it again.” Jack took the money. Alexandria went back to work at the US Congress….

Outsiders ratings are off the charts lately.
    Exploding.
    As are all skynews shows.
Strange but their few lefty shows aren’t doing anything. (sarc)
    But particularly Outsiders.

Can anyone verify this? If true, the difference this type of television brings will be completely new to many in those viewing areas.

    I’d love to know.

Presenting equivalence with anything to do with islam is the mark of a dhimmi, or someone making a quid out of the muzzies through the Bendigo bank.

No, I don’t believe there is any equivalence. Your affliction is much worse than what Birdie suffers from. Birdie believes in a massive conspiracy theory, whereas you just pour hate against 1.6 billion people.

Islam is unique; Nazism and communism did their atrocities with a relative small number of the relevant populations being fanatical; the rest went along for the ride mostly out of fear. But islam is different; real authorities and numerous polls, which I have previously presented here, show not just sizeable minorities of muslims active in jihad but the vast majority of the rest supporting them in their goals, implementation of sharia while weasel wording the methods.

The argument against importing muzzos rests of two fundamental factors.

    1. We can’t tell them apart in terms of who is going to go batshit and it looks like even second generation, born in the host country, can go nuts too.

    2. We simply don’t like each other.

That’s basically the deal. There’s nothing much else to say, whereas you are attacking 1.6 billion 24/7, 365 days a year.

Islam is a cult which manifests the worst in humanity. Idiots like yourself head prefect are self-starters.

    So says the troll monitor.

Embrace your racism, Cronkite. I really don’t give a shit if you dislike 1.6 billion people because I don’t hold the accusation of racism as being serious.. However I do oppose your selectivity and rank hypocrisy.
Birdie is actually on firmer ground than you.

Well duh! It’s a dossier which is supposed to form the basis of later investigation. That’s how police do their job.

No mOron. It formed the basis of an application to investigate intrusively before the FISA court where said application must meet certain benchmarks and criteria. As well as the full disclosure of all verified sources.

Misleading that court is a felony, dickhead. Comey has admitted not only was there no verification as such, the sources (DNC) were never disclosed to the court. The low life Comey signed the application off knowing it to be misleading. No wonder the scum was sacked but he should be up on charges for that alone.

I predict that Ms Ocasio-Cortez is going to be the most memed Congresswoman to have ever lived.

Here’s her contribution for today. And another also from today. Yep, yet another from today.

She wants to be on the House Ways and Means Committee, the Financial Services Committee and the Energy and Commerce Committee. Any one of those would be fun, all three would be dancing unicorn time.

  14. Boambee John

Manafort had a handler from the GRU called Kilimnik.

The GRU is military intelligence. Putin was KGB (now FSB). The two organisations have a long history of, to put it tactfully, competitiveness. Putin is most unlikely to have sent the GRU boy to do a KGB/FSB man’s job.

This allegation, if true, suggests a Russian military plot to increase tensions between Russia and the US, perhaps to get increased military budgets. If so, Mueller, the Demorats and the US MSM have been providing assistance to possible Russian traitors. Putin is not likely to be pleased.

It would be interesting to know if Kilimnik is still alive, the KGB had stern ways of dealing with traitors. It is unlikely the FSB would be less stern.

Cash-strapped UN climate fund needs Australia to continue contributing

Australia has been asked to reconsider its decision to withdraw support for a multi-billion-dollar Green Climate Fund, as finance has emerged as a key stumbling block to progress in talks in Poland on implementing the Paris Agreement.

Environment Minister Melissa Price was due to arrive in Poland tomorrow for the final week of negotiations to finalise a rulebook to make the Paris Agreement operational.

The Green Climate Fund is only one part of the $100 billion-a-year finance package, but it has great significance in the UN talks. Australia had previously committed $200 million to the fund but Scott Morrison has said Australia would not provide any more.

UN executive secretary Patricia Espinosa highlighted the importance of the fund in a press conference today.

She said it was “very much linked to our process” and praised Germany for doubling its contribution for the second round to €1.5 billion ($2.36bn). Ms Espinosa said Germany’s decision lifted confidence about “continued engagement and commitment from donor countries”.

Germany’s board member on the fund, Frank Fass-Metz, told The Australian Ms Price undoubtedly would be questioned about Australia’s position in Katowice.

“The decision of whether Australia is contributing to the fund or not is an Australian decision and the Australian government will certainly be held accountable by the Australian people in this matter,” Mr Fass-Metz said. “We of course hope Australia will come back as a contributor.’’

From the Oz. This could be the Morrison Government’s finest hour – telling the United Nations where to go, and how to get there.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Slams Right-Wing Twitter Troll for Calling Her a ‘Bitch’

“Wow! A Republican journalist calling me the B-word as he deliberately misinterprets my statement,” Ocasio-Cortez wrote. “Awesome job. How many female leaders have you covered in your career? I’m sure your coverage was very fair and not subconsciously biased at all.”

Ocasio-Cortez was responding to a since-deleted tweet by Moates, who according to The Hill, quote-tweeted Ocasio-Cortez earlier Friday, saying that “there is a new standard in Congress. Bitches will subpoena you if you troll them.”

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Doubles Down On Renewable Energy Link To Racial Justice

In various tweets gathered by Yahoo Lifestyle, opponents question Ocasio-Cortez’s intelligence for tying racism to environmental policy. Much of the blowback has been triggered by a portion of her speech — that went viral via a video clip — which shows the 29-year-old Bronx native predicting that not only is the creation of a thriving green industry inevitable by way of 100 percent renewable energy, but that it will serve as a vehicle to “establish economic, social and racial justice in the United States” as well.

Kilimnik long ago, before the breakup of the USSR worked as a translator in the Societ Army. To claim he is some super-spy “handler” is about as plausible as claiming that Sibel Edmonds is secretly employed as a spy by the US government.

Kilimnik was working for Manafort doing business in Ukraine, and yes we know there’s a lot of corruption over there, but if you don’t play their game then you get nothing.

Manafort supported the pro-Russia Ukrainians, which turned out later on to be a bad choice as the Ukranian nationalists now have power… not sure how he was supposed to know that would happen.

Barbaro, as the syndicate head, is remanded on more serious charges.

He retains Lawyer X’s services into the following year. Lawyer X at the time represented many mafia and gangland figures.

Afterwards, Acquaro tells Madafferi that he should hire Lawyer X as his barrister because “she is close to police”. Madafferi is dubious, but Acquaro insists.

It would be advantageous, he says, because Madafferi could pass on misinformation — through Lawyer X — to the police.

She does not appear again for Madafferi but she does appear in court for Barbaro.

Her true involvement in this case remains uncharted to this day.

But it is expected to be tested now that one of those jailed over the smuggling is contesting his convictions, with others watching closely.

The firm acted for Ms Hall after a 2009 leg operation went wrong at John Flynn Private Hospital on the Gold Coast.

An itemised account from the law firm includes close to $4000 for drafting two letters to doctors, and a further $500 for a paralegal to write one letter.

The firm also charged for reading medical reports and claimed to have taken between two and three hours to read each one. Ms Hall says she read them in 35 minutes.

Ms Hall eventually received a payout of $865,000, but Shine tried to take $283,489.

ACOSS amasses $1 million philanthropic war chest, calls for dole to be raised

Labor and the government will face an escalating campaign to raise the rate of the Newstart payment, with the Australian Council of Social Service amassing a $1 million philanthropic war chest to deploy in the lead up to next year’s federal election.

It comes as Bill Shorten faces a push from its left faction at its national conference this month to raise the dole, led by the Mayor of Sydney’s Inner West Council Darcy Byrne, who will submit an amendment to the party’s platform labelling the Newstart payment a “moral issue” that must be addressed.

ACOSS last week secured hundreds of thousands of dollars for its “Raise the Rate” campaign, which is being supported by groups such as the South Australian Wyatt Trust, the Myer Foundation, the Snow Foundation and the Reichstein Foundation, and is planning to ramp up advocacy for an increase to the welfare payment over coming months.

The Newstart Allowance of $550.20 a fortnight for a single person has not risen in real terms for more than 25 years.

ACOSS chief executive Cassandra Goldie said increasing the payment by $75 was an “absolute minimum” and flagged the philanthropic donations would be put towards advertising and a push to connect grassroots groups so they could run a targeted campaign ahead of the 2019 election.

My solution is easier. Abolish excise taxes, tariffs, payroll taxes and cut any occupational licensing that has no demonstrable public benefit (so we could keep sparky and doctor licences, but get rid of dumb shit like ID card licences for pulling beers).

It would actually help people in a demonstrable way, it would help the indigent the most and make many social workers redundant in their current line of work.

Newspoll: Coalition ends year with poll slump

The Coalition has ended the year in a poll slump to trail Labor on a two-party preferred vote of 55/45 for the third consecutive poll.

An exclusive Newspoll conducted for The Australian shows the Coalition’s primary vote recovering a point to 35 per cent but remaining more than seven points down on the 2016 election result which delivered it a one-seat majority.

With an election just six months away, Labor’s primary vote has risen a point to 41 per cent and just below that recorded in the 2007 election that delivered a landslide Labor victory under Kevin Rudd.

The final Newspoll for 2018 follows a chaotic final week of parliament but one in which Liberal MPs believe delivered a significant political blow against Bill Shorten last week over border protection and national security.

With parliament not due to return until February next year ahead of an April 2 budget and a likely election mid-May, Scott Morrison has maintained his lead over Bill Shorten in the leadership contest.

‘Climate Change’ is such a cult. On Friday nite I watched Hairy demolish a senior corporate exec over dinner on this by simply taking this man’s foundational beliefs, received wisdoms from the MSN, and correcting them. Things like how can all scientists be wrong? What about Nasa, all the scientific organisations, the ocean temperatures, the meteorological figures, the melting poles etc etc.? Hairy just calmly took apart the assumptions, the models, the paucity of genuine empirical data and the homogenising of data, the difficulties of ‘world’ measurement, the political organisational take-overs of professional societies etc plus the co2 hypothesis and its associated empirical problems vs other possibilities that explained climatic variation.

You should write all that up headed ‘The case for Climate Realism’ I suggested to him. A simple outline for senior management that could counter the cult with a genuinely scientific scepticism and dis away the ‘denier’ slur. It’s already there, he replies, but I still feel the case could be better made using the hyper-rational and question-answering mode Hairy had just so successfully used, given how little this ‘believer’, like many others, actually knew about the spurious science being used in promulgating this issue. Perhaps the Advance Australia crew could consider producing something practical like this for corporate Australia. Inserting the seed of rational doubt.

Get ready for the big slowdown because banks are closing shop. They have been so spooked by the RC that banks are now exercising very stringent lending requirements which is driving people out of the market. So if you have a 15,000 credit card limit they will factor in a cost of min repayment $300 per month, they now factor in private school fees and a whole range of expenses people incur. The consequence is now that many people don’t qualify for a loan, investment or first home. That’s what is driving the market down; that plus miserable wage growth because business keeps importing labour.

The consequence is now that many people don’t qualify for a loan, investment or first home.

Or only the prudent will receive sufficient credit. It’s not a terrible outcome.

    What about an ant?

It’s illegal for business to import labor. Let me ask you, do you see many Australians driving for Uber and delivering food. I haven’t met one yet.

457s but you knew what I meant. I have had Aussie Uber and food delivery drivers. Not that uncommon where I live. The young Japanese man who cut my hair said he hoped for Aus residency. Sure, big shortage of barbers in the country.

Or only the prudent will receive sufficient credit. It’s not a terrible outcome.

There has been no problem with defaults. If anything quite low. There is a difference between prudent borrowers and paranoid lenders.

    Again, playing for what?

  191. Armadillo

    The Cortez ad was crap.

There was an interesting doco about Sammy Davis Jr on one of the socialist TV channels – the Aboriginal channel, I think. It was very good; gave me a new respect for the man. I admit I always found his shtich – his thing – annoying, overrated. I still think he wasn’t great as a singer, wasn’t the best of the best as a dancer (though he was masterful at tap), was one of the ugliest celebrities of all time … And yet, his life story, what he was able to come from and carve out for himself was nothing short of astounding. He had a certain aura because of that and this is what made him special.

  193. Oh come on

Ocasio-Cortez is very likely to be a prominent player in Democrat politics going forward. I don’t understand why people here are writing her off. Not very wise.

    Thank you for that Jupes.
    An amazing family story there.
I’ve only been trawling the web for half an hour or so on it, some utterly fascinating reading to make one lose all track of time.
No end of surprises, difficult to say which is the more amazing.
    Photos with the Queen.
First enemy shot down an FW-190 with a seemingly skilled enemy pilot.
Father travelling to England then France after the war to find out what happened to his son, and actually finding his body (turning him from MIA presumed dead to KIA)
The connection to Operation Jaywick is probably the most unexpected.

There’s considerable information on many & varied website, in at least three languages, often with little overlap of information.
Would take hours to put it all together.
Someone should do it, if it hasn’t been done already.

  195. Confused Old Misfit

The media are playing for that which tnet always need: CONTENT. Tey will try to parlay those 3 into something to generate clicks, views, etc. Tnat transate into $$$$$.

  196. C.L.

Ocasio-Cortez is very likely to be a prominent player in Democrat politics going forward.

I can remember when people said the same thing about Michael Dukakis.

  197. Sure, big shortage of barbers in the country.

    There certainly is.
If you want a haircut that looks better than the boys at the footy club would give with a bowl & horse clippers, yes – big shortage.

  198. Oh come on

The media are playing for that which tnet always need: CONTENT

No, COM. If that were true the media would be the biggest Trump enthusiasts of all.

  199. Oh come on

I can remember when people said the same thing about Michael Dukakis.

Um the guy was a governor and a Dem presidential candidate. Does that not count as a prominent player in Democrat politics?

    Tough crowd.

Postcode: The Splintering of a Nation (2005)
    by Wayne Swan

Wayne Swan here examines the fracturing of the Australian nation occurring along geographic lines. The book is about the distribution of poverty and inequality in Australia – the disappearance of the ‘fair go’ and the policies required to restore justice and equality in Australia. Can Australia afford to develop a ‘postcode apartheid’ which will undermine prosperity and security?

  202. Confused Old Misfit

The media are playing personalities off against one another. They care not which side the personalities are on. They would prefer tney were all progressives. But whatever gets them $$$$ gets covered.
Of those 3, the media will throw 2 under the bus. May all of them if something better comes along.

  203. Oh come on

Why? If it’s all about content, then Trump is a once-in-a-lifetime gift.

  204. Confused Old Misfit

Trump IS a gift and the media knows it.
Thet do ‘t have to like him.
They know they cannot ignore him.

  205. Oh come on

COM, the media you are speaking of is dying. It’s clearly ideological before it is commercial. The MSM is doomed from a commercial perspective. If it was simply chasing profits, it would be behaving very differently than what it is.

As Japan enacts law opening door wider to foreign labor, experts warn of challenges with integration

With Japan on track to open its doors wider to foreign workers to address its labor crunch, challenges loom over how to ensure good working environments and integrate people with different languages and cultures into society.

Experts warn that the new visa system, likely to start in April, may end in failure unless authorities take steps to address the problems foreign nationals who currently engage in simple labor in Japan face, such as abuse by employers and isolation within communities.

France is the new tax hell in Europe and beyond (includes chart)

While the dust has not yet settled in the streets of Paris, after sweeping protests against fuel tax hikes, it just so happens that France has taken the crown from Denmark as the most taxed country in 2017, the OECD found.
Among the 34 developed members of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), Emmanuel Macron leads the nation with the highest tax-to-GDP ratio, the organization reported. France leads with 46.2 percent of GDP against the average of 34.2 percent of other members, thus dropping the long-standing leader in the rating, Denmark.

The Scandinavian country’s numbers, meanwhile, shrank to 46 percent, down by 0.2 since last year. Sweden, Italy, and Greece round out the top five, while Mexico is the last on the list at 16.2 percent.

  211. She won against an incumbent Democrat and has faced zero scrutiny. Her electorate and the MSM love her. I suspect she will reveal what a dumb bint 27 year old Democratic Socialist actually looks like to the nation. Godspeed to her. The quicker she does it, the better.

She’ll provide plenty of entertainment. As said above, it’ll be dancing unicorn time.

However, the gasping demographic with an IQ of teenage barbie dolls, they think she’s a genius.
They believe she’s part of a groundswell that will take the money the aged stale pale male pollies have been keeping to themselves to buy Cape Cod mansions, and will use that money to … y’know, so people don’t have to worry about paying for gas, or their phone bill…. omfg she’s so coooool.

Trade unions members and members of opposition parties marched through the capital to vent their fury over the law which would allow employers to demand as many as 400 hours of overtime from employees every year. In the biggest street protest in Hungary in more than year, activists waved banners which read “we protest against the slave law” and “force your mother to do overtime”. Laszlo Kordas, head of the Hungarian Trade Union Confederation, told several thousand protesters that Hungarians were working “at Europe’s lowest wages”.

Police blocked off the main square outside Parliament, where the protest was headed originally, forcing the march to loop around the central Budapest area and fill Constitution Road, the main street leading up to Parliament.

Hungary’s prime minister Mr Orban was forced to backtrack from party’s original plans for the new law after opposition parties warned they would stage a national protect.

Under current rules, bosses can demand employees to do up to 250 hours of extra work annually.

I am not happy with the politics of Ocasio-Cortez. She isn’t someone I would like to see in any kind of elected office. But I recognise her as a potentially dangerous foe. I think you are being silly if you trivialise her.
