So trump has now lost Mattis and Kelly the only two smart people in his cabinet?

    Not good!

  2. Black Ball

Insiders say co-host Georgie Gardner could be “the last one standing”, with management considering radical changes to its format and line-up.

Maybe these radical changes could include making television palatable. Give Mark Latham and Jeff Kennett a half hour slab to discuss political issues. Don’t have the others butt in. Do the same with sports. Just a suggestion, might not work for morning tv but Doug Mulray’s adults only home video show is more viable than the tosh served up now.

the Paywallian’s SJW kiddies are totally freaked out about today’s summer lightning in Sydney: “Worst hailstorm in 20 years ‘catastrophic’.

More mutterings from The Master of Mediocrity. Keep looking, Tom, but you’ll never find another more mediocre than yourself*.

Sydney’s worst in 20 years hailstorm last evening declared “catastrophic” by the Insurance Council. That means they recognize the significance of the event and prioritize the processing of damage claims and repairs. 15,000 claims lodged in the first 12 hours, estimated costs so far $80 million.

Definitely a biggie. Lots more claims yet to be lodged.

[* The Witterer went close to you yesterday with “just another Sydney summer storm”]

How many aethiests were burnt at the stake throughout the history of Christianity?

    ..
I don’t think Jesus was all that keen on the organised religion of his time.
I don’t think he would have liked the organised religion in his name during those later times either.
I could be wrong, but I think Christianity spread quickest where it was the persecuted party.
He teaching may even have predicted that.
It is invalid to point to the misdeeds of villians acting falsly in the name of Christ, when he specifically warned us that would happen.
    ..
I like when he was asked why Moses permitted divorce:
    ..

He saith unto them, Moses because of the hardness of your hearts suffered you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it was not so

    ,,
There might be a bit of a process there.
My mother is an atheist, and so was I for a time.
I think atheism has a warping effect. For me it did. I believed things I knew were not true, but were convenient.
Maybe it is the opposite for other people. Maybe the certainty of atheism gives comfort.
If it does and it aligns fully with everything else in him, maybe that person has an atheistic nature.
The bible is a difficult book. It has some pretty hard truth in there whether you believe in God or not.
You really need to cast off all preconceptions, ignore every bit of modern commentary and try to see it afresh.
    Well worth the effort.
Imagine you live in a society that executes criminals in little plays for the etertainment of the crowd.
Or that stones women to death for adultery, or in the case of the old testament, where some peoples burn little children to death on a daily basis.
Then think if you can imagine our world coming into existence from those beginnings without something like the biblical teachings occurring.

    Voting rights when living overseas.

I would cut it off if not returning and resume living there within a couple of years.
These jokers want to retain the right to direct policies in a place they haven’t lived for over 20 years!

    What next?

  6. Black Ball

Just as an aside, any Sydney Cats heading to Star Casino on February 8th to watch John Hopoate punch on with Paul Gallen? Photo in today’s Hun shows Hopoate’s signature move, probably unable to do that to Gallen with gloves on.

  7. Death Giraffe

Jesus was very strong on the divorce thing.
At the very least, atheists could look at the havoc wrought by easy divorce, breakdown of family life and horrible welfare culture, and acknowledge he knew something that we are only just relearning 2000 years later.

Transport minister Chris Grayling said it was clearly a deliberate act.

“This is a commercial-sized drone,” he said.

“Every time Gatwick tries to reopen the runway, the drones reappear.”

I understand it’s a tiny bit difficult to catch the operator, but removal of the drones with a well tested 22 rifle should be astoundingly easy … I would have thought. Maybe I’m overlooking the obvious, but the years under the thumb of the EU have not been healthy for the British people.

  13. Bruce of Newcastle

I’d be happy for Trump to pull out of Afghanistan if he uses the money saved to build the Wall. it would get the Wall built and piss off the Left in the best way possible.

I’ve long said the best approach to Islam is build a wall around it and let no one over it unless they apostatize. Failing that an Israel-style Wall is the best alternative.

    Why does it bother you?
You seem to be looking for excuses for not to like Him.
He was still a young man, plenty of time to get married but struck down before he had a chance.

Now that is my opinion, but there are millions of lines of scholarly texts you can peruse if you are really interested and not just posting gotcha one liners.

    It’s a ridiculously self-involved attitude.

And ‘zombie cyclone’ is a long-established scientific term.

A shattering new record for one day rainfall in a North Queensland town?

Wow. That’s impressive. Weird how there’s usually a new record for something somewhere each day. It’s a big world.

As for cyclones and hurricanes, the data shows they have been less frequent and less intense in the last 20 odd years. There was a spike in intensity in conjunction with the 2015-2017 el Nino which is now dissipating.

So if CO2 is affecting cyclones and hurricanes it is doing so in a nice way.

Incidentally lots of people never marry, unlike in islam, in Christianity it isn’t compulsory

  20. According to AGW theory there should be warmer seas, more water vapour in the atmosphere and heat leading to more cyclones/storms.
Australia’s dry winter was the result of colder seas that maybe was produced by a weak El Niño.

Ah, M0nty, so you acknowledge the Democrats are flame-grilling cabinet members and their families mercilessly, just as Waters urged them to do?

The attacks on Trump’s cabinet and their families, even at their homes, is evil incarnate. Why are the Dems so evil M0nty?

For example Ryan Zinke’s “controversies’ and ‘scandals’ are all non-controversies and non-scandals. The beat up is hysterical. Could it be because he has been neutering the Green-Industrial Complex?

This is an overt tactic the Left has been pursuing: to make working for the WH so unappealing that Trump can’t get staff, then when he finds someone to sideline them with approval delays so long they have to find other work to feed their family.

How does this all equate with the Left’s cherished embrace of democracy M0nty?

  34. Ah, M0nty, so you acknowledge the Democrats are flame-grilling cabinet members and their families mercilessly, just as Waters urged them to do?

Not really. They all left without direct Democrat involvement. Sessions, Kelly and Mattis hated Trump’s guts. Zinke resigned in disgrace after a string of very credible corruption allegations. Ayers went home to spend more time with his money.

Trump’s rogues gallery is imploding all by itself, Bruce.

    Good Moaning.

Don’t you just love the arm chair critics of Trump?

Maybe a little self reflection should be on the cards.

The guy is being attacked constantly from the whole world, and from within his own deep state, players with billions of dollars in their war chests, corrupt political operatives.
They’ve even planted a bloody communist in the Vatican.
A fucking evil Islamic loving, western hating Pope.
Trumps only supporters are people with no real power to play any of these games, against this insidious march through our institutions and even the Catholic Church, and must wait until election day, which is too, completely corrupted by democrats from introduced vote herds, illegals getting votes and dead people coming back from the grave to vote democrat.
The threats and intimidations to those close to him would be real and shocking and he has about three supporters in the MSM one being Rowan Atkinson in little bumfuck Awstraya.

Yet people I never see do anything in the fight for our western civilisation, democracy and our sovereign western nations but stand back and criticise Trump at the first opportunity are the true bitchy bitches that deserve nothing the west( through either their, or others ancestors) have sacrificed to give them.
Get off your fat arses, and instead of sneering at Trump, do something for your nation.
    Do something for the west.
It’s a critical moment in History.

Ask yourself one important question before you sit back and mock Trump.
    Is he a conviction Politician?
What does he stand for, and what is he fighting for?
If he can achieve those goals in any possible way, does he?
What good has he done for the world already?
    What good have you done?
You can say you support Superman and then cower in the corner while he uses his super powers to wipe out the baddies.
But cowering and worse still, sniping from the sidelines, against one mere human unhelped, fighting alone, FOR YOU AND YOUR CIVILISATION is what is commonly referred to as PATHETIC.
You mustn’t understand what is at stake here, and I’d go so far as to suggest that it might be because our civilisation wasn’t founded by your ancestors, you have no real love for the west or understand it’s impact and value to the world.
I mean, I could be wrong.
You may just be a piece of shit.

Honestly, you smart arses sicken me.

  37. A shattering new record for one day rainfall in a North Queensland town?

Halifax (near Ingham) received 681mm of rain in the 24 hours to 9am this morning 122mm of that falling in only one hour. 394mm was recorded in the six hours to 1 am today.

That record is for Halifax only. The town hasn’t before had 27.5 inches in the same day.
    Doesn’t mean 5km away hasn’t had more.
Even that rate of rainfall is nothing to jerk your thumb at.
5 inches in one hour is their peak. The bulk of it fell at nearly 3 inches per hour.

Have you been to ahalifax by any chance? It’s right on the coast against the hinchinbrok range. A couple of kms north over the range in the wet tropics they often get a lot more than that. Also, nearby Ingham got nothing like that, because it is slightly further inland and that little bit further from the Hinchinbrook range. A local cloudburst based on ex TC Owen stopping forward motion will result in anomalies, especially on the coastal fringe. If the stall happened 10 km further out to sea the hamlet of Halifax would have got next to nothing.

What it has done is set up the local cane farmers for an even better sugar cane crop after already getting a second year of near record production in a row. That is what realistic climate change modelling actually delivers to cane farmers. And banana growers. And cocoa growers. Any crop producer really. Better yields in most years.

    From The Last Refuge;

Today Department of Homeland Security chief Kirstjen Nielsen told lawmakers that migrants heading to the southwest border to seek asylum in the United States will have to wait in Mexico until their claims are processed, under an agreement between the two countries.

Rather than fight internally for short-term solutions to long-term immigration problems, President Trump has gone directly to the heart of the issue. Invisible in the background, to all but those who follow closely, President Trump has been structuring a comprehensive optimal solution to the border crisis; and he has been doing it for over a year.

I totally disagree with Shapiro and others on the Syria withdrawal. US forces are no longer required. And the comparison between Obama’s withdrawal from Iraq and Trump’s withdrawal from Syria are totally bunk. Syria today is not 2011 Iraq. There are a bunch of countries involved in Syria and the regime there has pretty much re-asserted its authority. This fretting about Russia filling the breach – wtf? Russia is already the main foreign player there! It has a massive base on Syrian soil, FFS.

It’s not nearly as simple a theatre as Iraq was. The assumption many analysts are making is that Russia and Iran will now be able to work against US interests. Er, what interests? You have three major foreign powers in Syria – Turkey, Russia and Iran. Their interests only partially align – and less so now that the US has gone.

  112. Chart of extreme precipitation in the US:

Most measurement occurs around urban areas and it is known that the heat produced from cities creates uplift and turbulance leading to higher rain intensity for the downwind side of urban areas.

House approves spending bill with $5.7B for border wall

The House of Representatives Thursday approved a bill that would fund most of the federal government through early February — and provides $5.7 billion for President Trump’s long-promised border wall, increasing the chances of a partial government shutdown later this week.

Eight Republicans joined all 177 voting Democrats to oppose the measure, which passed 217-185. The bill now goes to the Senate, where it is certain to fall short of the 60 votes needed for passage since the chamber’s 49 Democrats are against funding the wall. That, in turn, makes it more likely that parts of the federal government, including nine of 15 Cabinet-level departments and dozens of agencies, will cease operations at midnight Friday.

The vote came hours after Trump told House GOP leaders that he would not enact a Senate-passed package that does not provide money for the barrier….

    (Fox)
Now Schumer has to decide whether he will act in the interests of Americans.

Just some things they’ve said over time that have made me conclude that they have money.

Its 51 turbines will be among the largest in Western Australia with a tip height of 152 metres, sporting some of the longest blades onshore at 66 metres.

Western Power will construct the 10-kilometre transmission line from the wind farm sub-station to the network connection point near Eneabba.

    – part of the squad that started the Fitzgerald inquiry
    – rose to assistant police commissioner

    – was flatlined in the Qld Police as the token vagina Assistant Commissioner, as it was very obvious that beyond being a ball-breaker she had no actual ability.

No wonder CL is intimidated by her. She would kick his scrawny arse from here to the Whitsundays.

This might work just so long as CL wasn’t lighting fires or some other scary scenario which she hasn’t a hope in hell of handling.

I woke up late this morning, so have only just read the comments by Death, Notafan and Mark A.

Notafan, not arguing with you saves time because you argue with yourself. On a small point, the rule says I before E, except after C. It has let you down. Atheist, deist and derivatives are exceptions. You may feel that this is a frivolous point, but at least it can be resolved by a dictionary. Arguing about whether God exists can’t. I can’t imagine any way of persuading you, since evidence, pro or con, doesn’t seem to have any effect on you.

Mark A, I’m agnostic about everything. I don’t know anything with certainty. Not even that, there may be something I’m certain about, but I can’t think what. I am pretty sure baked beans exist. I am pretty confident fairies at the bottom of the garden don’t. I can provide evidence for baked beans. I have no evidence for fairies at the bottom of the garden. They may be good at hiding. But until I have some reason for thinking they are there, I shall assume they aren’t. I am a fatbotg atheist. I suspect you are too. I am similarly atheistic about the flying spaghetti monster, father Christmas and God. I suspect you agree with me about the flying spaghetti monster, despite it being impossible to prove he doesn’t exist.

Death, I agree that the world where bishop’s garden parties dispensed cucumber sarnies was in many respects better than the current one. The converse is also true. Think smartphones. The argument that because Christianity encourages people to be nicer to each other, criticising it is a mistake, may have some sense in it. It’s not a good argument for believing it’s actually true. It’s rather cynical actually, supposing you are much smarter than the unwashed, and can believe for utilitarian reasons what they have to be convinced is true.

Oh, and calling people who disagree with you rude names is not a valid argument.

  174. Mitch M.

    You’re a sad fuck, Mitch M.

  178. Bruce of Newcastle

Hark is struggling to find anything bad in the data. As I posted earlier hurricanes and cyclones have been less common and less intense the last couple decades.

Also tornadoes have been running at record levels. Record low levels that is. Below average the last seven years as far as I can tell (they’ve left 2016 and 2017 off the graph for some reason).

As for Houston having some wet weather, yes hurricanes do sometimes reach Houston. Whereupon it rains. A lot. You can be unlucky even if hurricanes are getting fewer and less intense.

The amazing thing about the climateers’ EWE fetish is how EWEs seem to be declining, except for stuff like solar activity induced jet stream blocking issues. If that’s all the climateers have got it suggests CO2 is actually a rather nice gas to have around.

Trump’s Afghanistan decision – a developing story as we speak – will make him even more of a target to the War Party than he already is. Thousands of leftists still believe JFK was shot by the Deep State for planning an exit from Vietnam. I’m not saying that’s true, of course, but it is fascinating to see where the left stands now on the spectrum of history. McCarthyists (right down to accusing hero generals of ‘treason’), pro-endless war, Russia as a ‘threat,’ on the side of a corrupted FBI that spies on the ‘other side,’ black lists… Like I said, a fascinating outward volte-face*. And Trump as the patriot seeking to start afresh – just like Washington or Lincoln.

Subinscision is slicing the underside of the penis to the depth of the uretha from the base to the head. Then, as one lady said, him open up longa frog. She was sayiing the penis, when erect looked like a frog sitting there.

Subinscision is not practised among all tribes, but the tribes with the greater number of scars across their chest and arms and head are more likely to practise more brutal forms of initiation. (According to a book I read once)

I was reading an anthropologiacal work at the base of the rock one day while I was waiting for my german mate to come down, and flicked to the page on initiation where I was enlightened with the graphic description of catching the young girl out bush, her vagina torn open with a knobbly stick kept specially for this purpose, further enlarged with fingers wrapped in string, on some the perineum was cut and then all the bucks would break her in.

It varied from tribe to tribe, but what I was reading, was hell.

More recently I read that if two parties met each other and the reason was fighting and they did not want to fight, one side could send a woman out and all the men on the other side would rape her and then it was done, all over, no more fight.

I remember a coloured girl killed in the Todd River once, she died with a large stick shoved up her and there was talk about her having been got becasue she was not initiated. I was fairly young, so eavesdropping and it was probably gossip but that is how she died.

I grew up with aboriginal people, like many whites who did, I have skin name, and you never wanted to be on the receiving end of an enraged aboriginal girl. Her aim was deadly with whatever missile was to hand. And never think you will have any effect if you try to hit an aboriginal woman on the head. I read that aboriginal women grew their babies up with torture, physically causing pain such as pinching between the nails til they cry, then hugging them, some kind of precontioning to the pain shit hole that follows I guess.

Watkin Tench did indeed observe aborigianl women being bashed and their scars fresh and old, on the skull, on the arms, and old skeletons support this, BG (before grog) observation, but Tench also said that the women appeared to needle the men endlessly until the obviously frustrated men unleashed in anger.

I have never heard of a woman being speared in the leg, normally they are speared to death, I assume being more expendable. But men were often speared for various misdemeanors. They might, or might not survive a shovel nose spear smashing sinew and muscle and veins and arteries and bone.

I have also a horror story which I cannot write here, regarding the punishment meted out to 4 girls for breaking into a store. 2 commited suicide, one drank herself to death and the other is pretty much an imbecile.

I was out on commuinty getting votes for Bess a few years ago when she won her seat and saw a young man with a large bandage around his leg. What happened to him, I asked idly, oh his wife, got wild with him and stabbed him in the leg. They were both well educated and had good jobs, she a healthworker.

Then there was my skin brother who for some unknown reason stabbed his sister in the shoulder with a pair of scissors. Lots of blood. They shut me out of the bathroom. I was little and only wanted to see. Thinking back on it, it seems a lack of control, a lashing out is permissable. I wonder if taking it as a sign of affection would be a step too far?

What I do know, is it is endemic, and from both sexes. Grog certainly has escalated it. The only time the night was quiet was when there was gunja in the town. And now there is ice. The only way to save them might be to remove all the kids and adpot them out. Haha f’g ha. That door is bolted shut.
Nuh, they just gonna die there like some hillbilly on moonshine and mountain dew. Toothless and painless and daid. In the end.

Your mother was a giraffe and your father a broken tree branch. Your brain is a rotting peanut. You smell like broccoli.

    But your daughter is cute.

Lol. Judge Roy Ellis, the NSW judge whose sentences have been most often increased on appeal. This latest one is tainted and is likely to go on appeal to the NSW Supreme Court, where his verdict will be overturned

    Frecklus Deflaterus.

Struth. You’ve had your haemorrhoids removed. Bet the morphine was a Godsend. But, not much help for your terminal verbal diarrhea.

Why aren’t you dead yet Rae?

    Lol.

Yes Struth, I couldnt be bothered climbing it, but now I wish I had, just so I could say I did. My German mate teathered her man child to her and forced him to climb as well. He was only about 5, I think, poor little tyke. But if I had done that, I would never have had the enlightening. Or the darkening.

Carroll worked in the Qld police force through the Joh years, so she’s got plenty of experience dealing with disasters.
