Julia Banks update. The left were the bullies

Andrew Bolt has posted the news that the left among the Liberals were so spooked by the spectre of Dutton that they turned nasty. Who is surprised?

Who needs the ALP when we have Liberal reps like Zimmerman and his factional cronies.?

    Julia Banks update.

Funny that she’s married to a ROWG (rich old white guy).

    Straight from the horses mouth…
    https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2018/dec/27/julia-banks-says-she-felt-devastated-when-scott-morrison-become-new-pm

“She’s 20 years in the parliament, lauded as the best foreign minister in the world, communication skills of a genius, and a woman,” Banks said.

“Seriously a true Liberal, and we knew Julie Bishop was Labor’s worst nightmare. I thought if it loses by one vote and it’s Peter Dutton then I’ll quit straight away.”

Bishop was knocked out in the first round, achieving just 11 votes. After the second round, Bishop’s vote largely went to Morrison, giving him the numbers to defeat Dutton.

    “I felt devastated,” Banks said.

Less than three months later, she quit the party in a bombshell speech to the parliament on 27 November.

Its all about the vay-jay as usual….

So….we should be surprised at that revelation? Of course the Left were the bullies, it is baked in the cake.

Yet still can’t afford a decent hairdresser.

    the left among the Liberals

    A redundant phrase?
Yet still we frown and ‘tsk tsk’ as though something will change; SOMEONE will see the light.

We just haven’t allowed enough time for the ‘learning’ to happen yet.
Another year or fifteen will do the trick perhaps?
Everyone else see what we see, right?

Let me introduce the concept of historical self-erasure.

    My local member is Abbott.

I have already seen posters with his face and the quote saying there is no discrimination in Australia, doubtless a partial quote where the omitted words turn the meaning through 180 degrees – this is after all the guy who thought we needed paid parental leave and who spends his free time in remote communities the elites say we should get more involved with (though they themselves never do).

Next day it had been torn down.

Doesn’t really signify much since only one person was needed to put the poster up and one more to pull it down. Neither can claim to be representative.

I do wish Abbott revelled more in his notoriety though.

Notoriety energised Trump and galvanised the deplorables.

    How does Mencken’s quote go?

Every normal man must be tempted, at times, to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin slitting throats.

Alas, in Australia there is no who sees winning as a strategy for achieving victory.

Not even Labor. Their only strategy is to make the other guys lose. They have no idea what victory would look like.

They don’t care if they preside over shattered, savage distopia as long as they have stopped the Libs from governing it.

She was a member of the faction that bullied, harass & intimidated others to achieve compliance.

So when she didn’t get what she wanted she acted in kind.

Malcolm had the decency to lob grenades from some distance – Banks attempted to immolate the government from within.

+Progressives are all the same no matter which party they ‘identify’ with.

Every normal man must be tempted, at times, to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin slitting throats.

Love it. Love it. Love it.

People generally follow those they identify as leaders because they see the leaders as possessing qualities that they, the followers, wish they possessed, but for whatever reason, do not. Could Tony Abbott be the syphilitic, driven and merciless pirate nicknamed Admiral Slaughter who I would follow to anywhere at any time?
He’s had plenty of time to sow the seeds of mutiny, to practice his cutlass-wielding skills, and stash away a supply of black powder.
There would be no room for a freshly-bathed, manicured, laundered, indecisive and softly-spoken pirate in my crew. If you’re not willing to break a fingernail, you have no place on this ship o’ war.

Malcolm had the decency to lob grenades from some distance…

Have you forgotten how he white anted Abbott and as PM deliberately left several of his ministers hanging…?

  16. Baldrick

File this under ‘News you won’t hear on the ABC.’

  17. miltonf

So we know Abbott is getting the Alinsky treatment- I wonder how much of this push against him is coming from within the Liberal Party? I can’t imagine Falinsky or Zimmerman or Fletcher giving him much support.

I made the same observation in the previous thread that the conservative half of the populations of western countries do not have representation in their parliaments. The “conservative” politicians are the same as their leftist colleagues.

  20. a happy little debunker

Have you forgotten how he white anted Abbott

Hardly – but in that instance he was getting what he wanted, rather than the grenades he lobs when he doesn’t.

  21. Win

Falinsky Zimmerman and Fletcher. Where would they have got their incomes pre politics? What companies are they involved in etc.

  22. Oh come on

No. You are conceding the major point by saying ‘but but but the left bullied too!’

This woman was not bullied. Bullying is not a noteworthy problem in the vast majority of adult workplaces. Banks needs to grow the hell up.

  23. md

The Guardian reported Banks as saying (from the Andrew Bolt article):

“We got the direction to move our votes from Julie [Bishop] to Scott,” Banks said of what Liberal moderates were told during the spill.

Fascinating! The ‘direction’ came from whom? Who are the power-brokers of the Liberal Left who are directing their fellow leftists how to vote? Who decided, and why, to ‘move’ the Left’s votes from Bishop to Morrison? Why was Bishop suddenly out of favour? Why did the Left want Morrison to lead the Liberals?
For the answers to these questions I guess we’ll have to wait for one of the less-leftist Liberals to write their memoirs.

    Mr Banks”

He looks like an older gentleman in reasonable condition. Why is there a gargoyle on his arm?

  25. EvilElvis

Yet still can’t afford a decent hairdresser.

I dunno. If you walk into a salon and ask for the ‘Elvira’ and walk out like that I’d say job tidy.

  26. gbees

Photios and his leftard cronies are busy taking over the Liberal party and the conservatives are letting it happen.

  27. jonesy

The badness is the socialist cuckoos in the Liberal ranks have stolen all the high water marked safe liberal seats. Even in a landslide defeat we will still be stuck with the progressives.

  28. W Hogg

Is Photios the 3rd worst person ever to enter politics?

  29. “Funny that she’s married to a ROWG (rich old white guy).

One of those acronym parts is more important than the other three, and is not interchangeable.

  30. miltonf

People like Photios, Payne and Harwin seem to have been around the 80s. Did Roseville branch’s motion to expel Trumble ever get up?

I read, somewhere, that Pyne and his WhatsApp cohorts were worried that if Morrison lost in the first round then many of those votes would go to Dutton in the next round. They did not think Bishop would beat Dutton. So the play was to support Morrison from the beginning. Apparently Pyne informed Bishop of their proposed tactic. It worked!

  32. blah

I’d be spooked too if a far right parasite who had latched onto my party in an attempt to gain so e faux legitimacy was in the running to lead the party despite being representative of about 10-15 percent of its constituency.

Really these gutless wonders like Dutton should piss off and form their own party and see how they go rather than trying to move in on the Centre Right liberals.

  33. Blah, agree entirely. Meanwhile too many here and the Libs have nothing to offer except cheap or personal jibes against anyone they don’t like. Is it too much to ask for the LNP to actually develop grounded policies vs. soundbites for friendly media fodder. Menzies would be rolling in his grave…
